Get Your SEO AuditPerth Retail Fest RoadshowIn this episode of Ecommerce Australia, host Ryan Martin sits down with Dave Levett, Founder and Managing Director of the award winning omni-channel marketing agency Murmur.Together, they tackle one of the biggest misconceptions in digital marketing, why ROAS (Return on Ad Spend) is an outdated, misleading metric that could be silently holding your business back.Dave Levett, a seasoned marketer with experience spanning both agency and brand-side roles, shares his journey from working with major brands like Telstra and Sky UK to founding Murmur, where he helps eCommerce and retail brands unlock real growth. With a strong background in media strategy, performance marketing, and brand building, Dave dives deep into why the industry needs to move beyond ROAS and embrace a more holistic approach to attribution and marketing effectiveness.Ryan and Dave break down:TheROAS myth -why focusing solely on return on ad spend is a dangerous trap. The difference between marketing efficiency and marketing effectiveness (and why most brands confuse the two). How Marketing Mix Modeling(MMM) is changing the game for brands that want to scale. Why brand equity and audience expansion are key to long-term profitability. The importance of investing in both digital and offline channels for maximum impact.Dave also shares a fascinating case study with Melbourne City Football Club, where his team discovered they had been over-investing in Meta andunder-investing in high performing offline channels like out-of-home and TikTok, proving that true marketing success comes from understanding the full picture, not just platform driven metrics.

«Funeral for a Dog», eine achtteilige Liebesgeschichte, fand kaum Fans.

Sky TV has appointed investment bank Jarden to advise it on a range of "unsolicited approaches", shareholders were told today at an Investor Day presentation. The pay-TV provider declined to provide any detail about who made the approaches, however, or if any of them involved a takeover offer - although others (see below) see the likes of Discovery and Comcast in the frame.Chairman Philip Bowman told the virtual audience that, "Over the last 12 months Sky has received a number of unsolicited approaches around potential transactions, all of which have been highly conditional and incomplete."Bowman added, "With the capital structure now stabilised, a strong position in the NZ market, and a revitalised strategy, the board does not believe the current share price reflects the underlying value of the company."Sky, with help from Jarden, will evaluate "strategic investment partnerships that deliver sustained ongoing growth to the rights content and distribution reach of the company, which in turn will accelerate the creation of shareholder value," the chairman said.Sky chief executive Sophie Moloney said, "Sky's leadership team and staff maintain our absolute focus on delivering the strategy outlined today, whilst being open to exploring opportunities to accelerate further sustainable value creation for shareholders."Moloney could not comment further. Some pundits interpreted Sky's statements as implying a possible takeover was in the offing.Investors appeared to not immediately embrace the theory, however, with Sky shares trading down 1.18 per cent to 16.8c (for a market cap of $293m) in mid-afternoon trading following this morning's update.A piece published in The Australian's market gossip column this afternoon, says "DataRoom understands that the interest has come from local private equity groups as well as global strategic parties."It goes on to speculate that Discovery (the new owner of MediaWorks' television operation), US company Comcast (which bought Sky UK and is understood to have approached Sky NZ 18 months ago), NBCUniversal or a telco would be logical buyers. In 2017, a proposed merger of Sky with Vodafone's NZ business was blocked by the Commerce Commission, with courts backing the regulator during appeals.Sky said it could not comment in any more detail. Asked if Sky could say point-blank if a takeover was among the approaches, Sky external relations director Chris Major said "I can't comment specifically. A range of options and approaches are on the table - [all] incomplete and highly conditional."Although Sky shares have gained 13.5 per cent this year, the company's $293m, they are still well off the $2.35 at the time of the 2017 Vodafone offer, which in turn was only a third of pay-TV broadcaster's high water mark.Sky also said today that its new, Android-powered set-top box, which will support 4K ultra high definition video and third-party apps such as Netflix, will not appear until mid-2022. In an early briefing the company had said it could be ready as soon as June this year. The company has set a customer target of 150,000 to 200,000 by the end of 2024 for deploying the new Android boxes. The company also forecast that it would be growing revenue by $75m to $100m per year by 2024 as streaming services Neon and Sky Sport adding customers at a compound annual growth rate of 10 to 15 per cent over the next three years.Sky also provided the first targets for its new Sky Broadband service, provided in partnership with Chorus and Vocus (owner of Orcon and Slingshot). Its three-year target is for 8 to 13 per cent of Sky customers to be using the service (which is steeply discounted if you also have a Sky decoder contract), and 3 to 5 per cent of the broadband market overall.Earlier in the day, Spark announced it had expanded its sports rights by winning Champions League football from Sky.

Discover today on The Learning & Development Podcast why we need to be disruptive with our L&D approaches (e.g. classroom learning), what technologies we can utilise inside our business, how you can influence more value to the team, how Agile can help you and your team's perfomance, and many more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Why transition to Agile? It encourages better understanding of each team member, it's built it on iterations, and it's data-driven. It delivers capacity, flexibility, responsiveness and adaptability. Tracey believes that classroom learning has not been very effective and only brings little to no benefits. It does not improve how people work. Here are the 4 R's that classroom learning causes: Relationships – People get a lot from meeting others in the same boat as them and learning from their experience. Recuperation – It gives them a chance to get away from tasks even just for a while. Recognition – They get motivated to complete the training because of the awarded certificate. Reward – People felt good about being nominated or accepted onto a programme. Focus instead on how every operation can be valuable to each individual. If they see that what they're doing have beneficial outputs, it's easier for them to get influenced and motivated to perform well. With this approach, they can still build relationships, learn new things, and improve themselves. Utilise technological innovations (i.e. Agile). There's better understanding, and reaching out becomes easier when the data is always available when you need it. You also make every moment memorable for them and offer invaluable support when there is full awareness of the situation. Some might have doubts on incorporating Agile. The key thing to remember here is it helps distinguish what works and what doesn't anymore in your business. And with these as the basis, we can choose what to improve and what to change. Visual management is very useful. You need two softwares: one is where the team can communicate (e.g. Slack, Microsoft Teams) and the other one is a visual planning board where the work flow can be tracked (e.g. Trello). Before looking into different approaches such as Agile, know your WHY. Take the time to go back to your planning board and evaluate your goals, visions, and objectives. If you think Agile is the vehicle that will get you to all of them, then it's easier to get started from there. BEST MOMENTS “If we run L&D, we should be embracing a philosophy that is fundamentally built in learning and high-performing teams.” “When you also learn from psychology perspective and neuroscience perspective how people learn, it makes classroom learning more bonkers.” “If you start with a consumer-grade technology experience and build around that, then you can actually be flexible of what you offer to people.” “The whole emphasis is on we'll get better at this together, we'll make mistakes together, and we'll make sure that we get better.” “If you aren't getting resistance, then I'm not sure you're disrupting the model.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Agile Software | Wikipedia The Learning & Development Podcast: How People Learn With Nick Shackleton-Jones | Apple | Spotify | Omny How People Learn: Designing Education and Training that Works to Improve Performance by Nick Shackleton-Jones Slack Microsoft Teams Trello ABOUT THE GUEST Tracey Waters is Director of People Experience at Sky UK and a pioneer in the application of Agile to Learning & Development. Search on Thomas Power, and you will see him variously described as Entrepreneur, Author, Business Adviser, Professional Speaker, and an expert on Social Media, Technology and the world of Digital. He is also a fun character who always has an interesting and different view on things. In this episode, using his song choices, we plot his journey from suburban Solihull: through the early days of UK computing with ICL, Amstrad and Alan Sugar; the triumphs and challenges of the business network that was Ecademy, to the present day. In his usual honest and disarming way, Thomas opens up about the highs and lows in his life and career and leaves us in doubt that his profile should really read "endeavoring, dependable, cub scout." Available on DVD The W.B. Yeats poem is " Second Coming" . It was also the inspiration for Joni Mitchells song "Slouching Towards Bethlehem" which uses a number of lines from the poem. The song is included in the playlist CULTURAL CONTEXT When Thomas talks about "the AA" he is not referring to Alcoholics Anonymous but the Automobile Association a British motoring organisation that was formed in 1905. Today it hosts a raft of services for the motorist but is still best known for its Roadside Assistance. ICL (International Computers Ltd) was the last major British Computer Company. In the 1980's they sold a successful mini computer called the ME29. The ME29 was an orange color which was officially known as "Hot Tango" - never has a company and a color been more inappropriately matched. ICL was acquired by Fujitsu in 2002 In the late 1980's Amstrad (which stands for Alan Michael Sugar Trading) had a substantial share of the PC market in the UK. Amstrad was once a FTSE 100 company but since 2007 it has been wholly owned by Sky UK whose Set top boxes it manufactured.
