We spend a lot of time making motorcycle travel easier. More reliable bikes, GPS navigation, online bookings and help that may be only a message or a call away. Jacqui Furneaux has spent years travelling very differently. Her old Royal Enfield has broken down, she's relied on maps and strangers for directions, and she often leaves room for not knowing exactly what happens next. Some of the experiences she values most happened precisely because something didn't go according to plan. So as motorcycle travel becomes safer, easier and more predictable, what are we gaining — and what might we be insulating ourselves from? Are we engineering some of the adventure out of motorcycle travel?

This week on Ron's Amazing Stories, we meet Michael Waring, better known as The Falcon. But exactly who was The Falcon? That question turns out to be a little more complicated than you might expect. The character had a tangled history that stretched from novels to movies, radio, and television. Even Michael Waring himself changed considerably during the run of the radio series, evolving from a private detective into an international intelligence agent. Our double feature demonstrates that journey with two stories broadcast nearly seven years apart. In This Episode Meet Michael Waring and discover the surprisingly complicated history of The Falcon. Learn how two different fictional detectives became associated with the Falcon name. Hear Michael Waring during his earlier years as a private detective. Travel overseas with a very different Falcon working for Army Intelligence. Explore how the changing world of the 1940s and 1950s helped reshape the series. Featured Stories Murder Is a Family Affair — November 27, 1945 Michael Waring is still working as a private detective when he and Nancy face a grim situation. A friend has been sentenced to death, and there appears to be nothing Michael can do to save him. Before the sentence is carried out, Michael promises to look after the man's younger brother. Keeping that promise soon draws The Falcon into one of his most difficult cases, involving murder, family loyalty, and the consequences of choices already made. Rolling Stones — August 10, 1952 Nearly seven years later, Michael Waring has left his private detective days behind. Now working for Army Intelligence, The Falcon travels overseas on a mission to locate wanted war criminal Mario Tessely. When a friend is killed, the assignment becomes personal. Michael finds himself caught in an international mystery filled with deception, Cold War intrigue, and hints of Communist activity. #241 - Your life can change in less than two months, and then you're left staring at the silence. Derrik Dyka knows that shock firsthand. After his wife of 24 years is diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, everything moves fast and then stops. Derikk describes freezing, losing his footing, and realizing that without a normal routine to return to, grief can turn into a kind of paralysis. Then his twin sons give him an unexpected assignment: “Go be James Bond.” That challenge kicks off a solo travel reset across Asia, starting with Tokyo, where the crowds somehow feel isolating, and then shifting to the Philippines, where simple warmth from strangers and daily open water swimming bring him back to himself. We talk about why connection matters more than the destination, why traveling alone changes how you relate to the world, and how small risks can open big doors.Derikk also shares the deeper thread he only recognized while writing his memoir, Good Grief Travel: the real journey is curiosity, community, and resilience. From a spontaneous friendship with a swim guide to a surreal night at a rural China birthday party where no one shares a language but everyone shares laughter, his stories make a strong case that healing can be built from tiny human moments. We close with practical ways to participate in life again, from walking daily and calling your people to learning your neighbors' names and setting the table to see who shows up.If this conversation helps, subscribe to the show, share it with someone who needs it, and leave a rating or review so more people can find these stories. To learn more about Derrik and get a copy of his memoir check out goodgrieftravel.com. Kid and El Pres are back in the studio, and Kid isn't exactly arriving with a clear head. A relationship he thought had long-term potential has suddenly gone quiet, leaving him trying to reconcile the comfort of believing he'd found somebody to grow old with against the reality of barely communicating at all. Beneath all the usual Goin' Deep stupidity is something considerably more sincere: the realization that the podcast has always been a place where jokes cover heavier things that don't necessarily get discussed anywhere else. Kid returns from a vintage baseball weekend where the Independents got their asses kicked, the roster looked increasingly aware of its collective age and the team captain missed the festivities after getting sick. The baseball may have been rough, but the friends weekend and general distraction were exactly what Kid needed. That leads into the other major distraction of the week: Foo Fighters in Detroit. Kid and El Pres put the show among the best concerts they've attended, with Kid comparing it against an Eagles show that still holds the championship belt in his personal concert rankings. Queen of the Stone Age gets plenty of love too, along with a tease about an old Josh Homme story involving somebody connected to the show. Then artificial intelligence takes over the studio. Kid starts demonstrating how easily old photographs can now be animated, altered and completely reinvented. An innocent old Goin' Deep studio photo slowly mutates until the original Red Eye looks like he's spent the last decade secretly training for an action movie. That sends the guys into the larger question of whether AI has made fantasy so instantly available that younger people simply aren't impressed by the things that once felt forbidden or exciting. That becomes part of a bigger generational argument. Are younger audiences really less interested in sex scenes? Did growing up with unlimited access to everything fundamentally change what feels provocative? And what happened to the traditional rock star, who once existed in a world without somebody filming every stupid decision from six feet away? El Pres is meanwhile approaching retirement and beginning to imagine life without worrying quite so much about what everybody thinks. Travel enters the picture, including Paris, London, Liverpool, Abbey Road and Ireland, while Kid argues that making those memories with his son could be worth more than anything sitting around the house. There are detours through Buc-ee's chaos, social-media personalities who may or may not resemble AI, old morality films that aged spectacularly badly, Detroit Tigers anxiety, the Dodgers tempting fate, and the strange experience of podcast listeners recognizing Kid away from the microphone and knowing considerably more about his life than expected. And finally, civilization arrives at the question philosophers were apparently too frightened to ask: Why do bangs look like a warning sign? Grok is summoned. Grok is instructed to become less polite. Grok eventually concludes that bangs represent a daily declaration of war against the forehead. That seems scientific enough for this show. A change of climate, a change of culture, a change in time zone. All of these and more are concrete changes we encounter when we choose to travel far from our home and daily life. Granted a time zone change may not be part of each occasion, but still, when the sun rises and sets most likely will be. Change is what we witness when we choose to travel. And by choosing to embark on an adventure, an exploration that involves changes, knowing our daily routine will temporarily be different and knowing the environment we step into will be different, we are exercising a powerful muscle that is part of living a life of contentment — accepting and seeing the gift of change. In today's episode, I will be sharing many of the gifts that travel gives us, moreso from the well-being and life enriching perspective, rather than speaking to any particular destination. It can be easy to forget these gifts when we settle back into our daily rhythm. And the courage and choice to invest in travel can sometimes wane the further removed we are from the first-person experience of travel. Let's take a look at eight wonderful gifts that travel gives us and how when we pack the consciousness along with all of the other gifts that living a life of contentment gives us, we deepen the experience all the more. Travel nightmares, high-speed poultry, and childhood bar hustles—this week, Sebastian and Pete are tackling the absolute chaos of summer vacation and the absurdities of getting older. Pete kicks things off by breaking down his ultimate travel nightmare, complete with cramped seats, non-refundable hotels, and a mid-air medical emergency. Sebastian shares his own vacation disaster involving a wild encounter with a turkey at dangerously high speeds. The guys also try to figure out exactly what age should a person officially hang up the keys and stop driving after dark? Sebastian recounts his time as a childhood foosball expert going toe-to-toe with the neighborhood bar regulars. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Companies often build products for wealthy markets first and then try to adapt them for the rest of the world. But according to Dartmouth Tuck professor Vijay Govindarajan and MIT professor Amos Winter, designing for the toughest constraints first—whether that's affordability, portability, or limited infrastructure—can lead to products that perform better everywhere. They explain how leaders can identify high-impact opportunities, uncover customer needs through deep field research, and design solutions that balance performance with cost. They also discuss why organizational mindset—not technology—is often the biggest obstacle to global innovation, and where AI can (and can't) accelerate the design process. Together they wrote the book Global by Design: How to Create Innovations That Scale, Travel, and Transform.

Rizzuto is back from France, which means it's finally time to answer the question nobody asked: Can one man visit one of the most beautiful cities in the world and still come home with enough complaints to fill a morning show? Oui.An Amber Alert that woke up half the city before taking a bizarre turn, plus Scott's live music adventure at Copper Fire, where the performance went great once the minor technical issue of the speakers actually producing sound was finally addressed. We also learn that Rizzuto is approaching the end of age 47, supposedly the happiest year of his life. Great news to discover right before it expires. Then comes important local Italian-American business: the world's oldest ravioli maker is opening its first U.S. manufacturing facility in St. Charles. Naturally, Rizzuto immediately begins wondering why his invitation to the ribbon cutting hasn't arrived. If there's a giant ravioli involved and this man isn't allowed to emerge from it holding an oversized pizza cutter, then frankly, what are we even doing here? There are positives. The Paris Catacombs were incredible, featuring the bones of millions of people and the mildly unsettling realization that apparently enough tourists try to steal human remains that bags need to be checked on the way out. A nighttime river cruise delivered gorgeous views of the Eiffel Tower. There were baguettes. There was an absolutely elite steak sandwich. And yes, Paris itself occasionally managed to impress our extremely difficult international correspondent. One cab driver takes the scenic interpretation of “wrong direction,” keeps the meter running, and eventually gets into a heated French argument with Rizz.Travel chaos continues with a kid refusing to buckle a seatbelt and helping get an entire flight canceled overnight. From there, we examine airport security and the long-running liquid restrictions that have forced generations of travelers to choose between personal hygiene and bringing enough shampoo to survive Tuesday.A golfer allegedly fakes a hole-in-one for thousands of dollars using a sick-grandma phone call as cover, and somehow that's only the beginning of today's nonsense.Hill's Brazilian jiu-jitsu confidence gets the Rizz Show treatment as the guys debate martial arts, celebrity bravado, Michael Cera's hypothetical fighting abilities and why the people who could actually fold you into a carry-on bag are usually the least interested in telling everybody about it.We also celebrate Missouri's birthday with a rundown of inventions, foods and famous names tied to the Show-Me State. Toasted ravioli? Obviously. Gooey butter cake? Put some respect on it. The microchip? Apparently Missouri has been doing a little more than deep-frying carbohydrates this whole time.Crap on Celebrities arrives with another truckload of entertainment gossip and pop culture commentary. Mark Zuckerberg's massive yacht gets dragged into controversy after a stranded boat reportedly needed help in Alaska. Britney Spears warns fans about a bad Botox experience. The crew gets into movie box-office numbers, Spider-Man, Super Troopers, Bugonia, Weapons and The Dink, because apparently nobody can simply say “I liked the movie” without turning it into a federal hearing. There's also Harry Potter actress Jessie Cave discussing the surprising money she's making on OnlyFans without nudity, Blink-182 heading back into the studio, Five Nights at Freddy's becoming an actual immersive restaurant experience, and a debate over the greatest new wave singers that quickly proves nobody is completely sure where “new wave” begins or ends.A study suggesting people are speaking 30% fewer words per day than they did 20 years ago. Texting, remote work, apps, online ordering, and our collective desire to avoid asking strangers how their day is going may be slowly murdering small talk. Naturally, this turns into a debate over whether small talk is an important social skill or just an obstacle standing between you and the salad you ordered downstairs.Moon admits that talking to strangers has basically become his personal training regimen, Rafe defends the lost art of actually communicating with another human being, Scott brings the small-town friendliness, and Rizz is patiently waiting for telepathy so he can stop participating altogether.First up: is having roommates a romantic deal breaker? A dating trend suggests some singles see living alone as proof that you've got your life together financially and personally. That raises the obvious question: do men and women judge this the same way? Rafe has some thoughts, including exactly how much questionable housekeeping a man might overlook when he finds someone attractive. We regret to inform you the answer is: quite a bit.A 29-year-old comedian and influencer went viral after canceling a first date with a 38-year-old finance guy because his restaurant selection was too casual. Her argument? The restaurant a potential partner chooses says something about compatibility, lifestyle, and effort. The show's counterargument quickly becomes slightly less scientific: what exactly qualifies someone as “Chili's material”?Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Fabricated report triggered Amber Alert, 1-year-old boy was never in dangerWorld's oldest ravioli maker opening first US facility in St. CharlesWinter Weather Predictions 2026–2027: What's Shaping Winter So Far?Porter Flight Canceled After Toddler Blocked by YYJ Curfew: What Stranded Passengers Are OwedHe faked a hole in one. Oui.Episode 114 begins back home in St. Louis with an Amber Alert that woke up half the city before taking a bizarre turn, plus Scott's live music adventure at Copper Fire, where the performance went great once the minor technical issue of the speakers actually producing sound was finally addressed. We also learn that Rizzuto is approaching the end of age 47, supposedly the happiest year of his life. If there's a giant ravioli involved and this man isn't allowed to emerge from it holding an oversized pizza cutter, then frankly, what are we even doing here? But the main event is Rizzuto's triumphant return from Paris. He kept notes.A lot of notes. And yes, Paris itself occasionally managed to impress our extremely difficult international correspondent.Unfortunately for France, this is a comedy podcast, so we also need to discuss the complaints. Why is getting cold water apparently an international negotiation? Where is the ice? Why won't restaurants bring the check? Why does everything close when Rizzuto needs something? Is air conditioning merely a rumor Europeans started to make Americans feel comfortable booking flights? Is the Mona Lisa overrated? Is the Eiffel Tower overrated? Is the food overrated? And why did an Airbnb leave the family sweating in a hallway for 45 minutes while they tried to figure out how to get inside? Then there's transportation. One cab driver allegedly takes the scenic interpretation of “wrong direction,” keeps the meter running, and eventually gets into a heated French argument with Rizzuto. Rizzuto attempts to hold firm on the fare and ultimately negotiates himself a breathtaking discount of roughly fifteen bucks. International diplomacy is alive and well. The crew eventually tallies Rizzuto's Paris complaints, because apparently his vacation needed independent auditing.Travel chaos continues with a kid refusing to buckle a seatbelt and helping get an entire flight canceled overnight. From there, we examine airport security and the long-running liquid restrictions that have forced generations of travelers to choose between personal hygiene and bringing enough shampoo to survive Tuesday.Somehow this becomes a discussion involving Die Hard with a Vengeance, Jeremy Irons, TSA logic, confiscated hairspray and the exact amount of liquid apparently required before civilization collapses. And after all the monuments, bones, baguettes, questionable air conditioning, transportation drama and French customer service, Rizzuto finally lands back in St. Louis and realizes something important:He loves it here.Nothing makes home look better than an international vacation and a lukewarm glass of water. It's travel stories, St. Louis nonsense, weird news, daily humor and several completely unnecessary arguments packed into another comedy podcast from The Rizzuto Show.Come for the Paris vacation recap. Stay for the debate over whether holding a perfect French sandwich like a newborn baby is an acceptable response to lunch. This comedy podcast may not improve international relations, but at least we have ice.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
