Gaming studio Beyond has launched its game Runaways on the Apple Vision Pro headset - the first game made here to release on that platform. It's been a roller-coaster journey for Beyond's co-founders Jessica Manins and Anton Mitchell. The company started in 2018 their first hit was Oddball - an eight-player game on the VR headset Oculus Quest. The company is now known for its free-roam, multiplayer virtual reality games. Oddball was just beginning to make waves, proving popular with celebrities, but it was February 2020 and the pandemic soon changed the landscape. Investors pulled back, realising Beyond's game needed to be played at a location like an entertainment centre - but people were being told to stay home. Jessica and Anton had to tell their team of six they'd run out of money and let everyone go. Not long after that, they got a deal over the line with Weta Workshop and another studio and slowly rebuilt the company. They've largely done that now - releasing a game in 2022 and this month - their latest game - Runaways.

The women that tried this technology began crying in many cases because it's like seeing a ghost from the past. A version of themselves that died a long time go. The not so mystery link shows dozens of such videos. It's like getting nostalgia for your past self. This technology has been around for still images for years in the form of FaceApp. But I had no idea it would be available in video this quickly. But Samuel forget about the pedo applications. Think of what this is going to do to the world of sex. You'll be able to put on oculas rift or a VR Headset and suddenly your fifty year old wife is going to look 20 again. Or she's going to put on her glasses and you're going to look like Chad or Tyrone. You'll be able to make a warm body in your bed look like anything you want. If you want a half cow, half woman with a tail she'll look that way. All that you'll need to do is remain skinny and the technology will make you look as young as you want. You might even want to live stream as a half woman, half dog. The furry community would love you. Remember five years ago when people use those dog filters with the cartoon ears and tongue. The technology on TikTok only seems to do faces so far but doesn't do hands and necks. So you see women with 60 year old hands next to their 15 year old face. There will also be issues regarding privacy. I've been careful to defend my image. I've removed images of myself from the internet and haven't taken any recent photos in five or so years. There are big dangers of your image and voice being out there. People can impersonate you and get you to say all kinds of terrible things. But I think that scammers are going to try and get people's voices and call their relatives asking for money in their voice. Targetting seniors not doubt. We are going to have to protect our privacy more than ever. In a distressing incident that unfolded in November 2022 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, an 11-year-old boy is set to stand trial for allegedly shooting his mother in the face, reportedly due to her refusal to purchase a virtual reality headset for him. The identity of the boy remains undisclosed. Following an evaluation by two psychologists, one of whom questioned the child's understanding of the crime and charges against him, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Jane Carroll made the controversial decision to charge him as an adult. Despite concerns raised by the boy's attorney about his ability to advocate for himself, Judge Carroll determined that the child did not have a "major mental diagnosis" that would impede his trial as an adult. According to a criminal complaint, the boy is accused of fatally shooting his mother, Quiana Mann, aged 44, in the eye at their Milwaukee home on November 21, 2022. He allegedly attempted to hide the weapon and then informed his older sister of their mother's death, prompting her to call 911. The boy reportedly accessed his deceased mother's Amazon account the following day to purchase the Oculus Virtual Reality Headset. Initially, the child claimed the shooting had been accidental, allowing him to remain with his family. However, doubts arose within the family, leading to the boy confessing to his aunt that he had intentionally aimed the gun at his mother.  As outlined in the complaint, the child's family informed detectives of a history of "anger-related problems" that persisted throughout his life. The document additionally recounted an incident from when he was four years old, alleging that the boy swung a puppy by its tail until the dog emitted distressing cries of pain. Moreover, it claimed that he ignited a fire within the family's residence by inflating a balloon with a flammable substance and setting it ablaze. A therapist had reportedly diagnosed the boy with a "concerning diagnosis," prompting Mann to install cameras in their home, although they were unplugged at the time of the shooting. The child's grandmother, Lueritha Mann, disclosed that he had mentioned hearing voices, and the family had attempted to seek help for his apparent mental illness. Quiana Mann, who worked in behavioral health and had four children, was remembered as a generous and deeply religious individual. A GoFundMe account described her as having a "spirit of giving" and an unwavering "love for God."  The 11-year-old boy is facing charges of first-degree reckless homicide and was previously in custody with a $50,000 bond. If found guilty, he could potentially face up to 60 years in prison.
