Eating a plant-based diet is not expensive. A group of nutrition researchers have proven that many people actually save money by switching to a vegan diet. Shoppers saved nearly 20% off their grocery bill compared to a traditional diet and 25% when compared to the popular Mediterranean diet. The savings add up to more than $650 and $875 annually per person on average. Dr. Hana Kahleova presents her findings and shows you how you can save money while improving your health as she joins "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll on The Exam Room Podcast. This can be a game changer for people struggling with high grocery prices! Dr. Kahleova also explains why eating a vegan diet can improve your health and subsequently lower medical expense as well. Andy Caboche is IVORY, the bass music powerhouse unleashing innovative subsonic sounds onto the electronic scene. With an overflowing catalog of trailblazing solo releases, genre-bending remixes, and A-list collaborations, IVORY has solidified his place as a staple dance music heavyweight. IVORY exploded onto the dubstep forefront with his project's inception in 2015. The 2016 single release ‘Retro' skyrocketed to the top of the Beatport charts, achieving the number one spot while garnering mass support from industry figureheads including Skrillex, Zomboy, and Borgore. His debut EP, ‘Hacked,' drew the gaze of major league labels, earning him the first of many releases with NSD [Black Label] and a seat at the Disciple Round Table. Finishing off 2017 with his first international headline tour in Australia, IVORY'S notoriety quickly began to transcend geographical borders. Spending countless studio hours perfecting his craft, IVORY's exponential versatility found international acclaim. The overwhelming success of his 2018 sophomore work, ‘Next Level,' incited accolades from leading electronic heavy-hitters Excision and NGHTMRE. IVORY continued to fuel this fire on stage, gracing renowned venues throughout Europe and commanding the decks on the Spag Heddy tour. Cementing his industry presence, he soon boasted a smoking arsenal of remixes for dubstep dons Herobust, Space Laces, and Dion Timmer. In 2019, IVORY reworked Gryffin and SLANDER's “All You Need To Know,” boosting him further into the spotlight while he secured tour stops in China. The turn of the decade further proved the immovable force behind the IVORY project. 2020 continued his Never Say Die residency with the cosmic ‘Dead Space' EP, a heavy-hitting interstellar journey of thematic sound design. Arguably the most pivotal year for his discography, 2021 saw the artist join forces with Nitti Gritti and Shaquille O'Neal on the chart-topping single, ‘Moshpit.' This song became a setlist essential for EDM's biggest artists, certifying IVORY as a household name in electronic music. IVORY drove the destruction home, ending the year with the aggressively relentless 4-track EP, ‘Bleep Bloop.' In recent success, IVORY's name adorns both premiere labels and legendary lineups. 2022 unveiled his first Monstercat release, as he united with Dani King and Hammerhead to conjure drum and bass anthem ‘Bad For You.' He demolished the stage at Rampage Open Air, and will return to Belgium for Tomorrowland 2023. Looking ahead, the IVORY project is all gas, no brakes, armed with groundbreaking new releases, even bigger shows, and all of the bass. New research suggests we should divulge our secrets more often than we do. But how you do it matters. (Send secrets to su@dw.com)
The downside of coffee for many is the gut devastation. For others, if we're talking caffeinated, not decaf, it's the jitters. Some women rely on it for pooping. (That's not good by the way. We may want to restore your factory settings, because you never needed this as a child, right?) Your DNA may determine how well you metabolize caffeine but so can presence of other stressors, whether you have eaten or not, and medications. Caffeine may temporarily raise metabolism, boost workout intensity and fat burning. But for those of us most likely to send up a cheer, it may not be us. The caffeine kick is only really supportive for those that don't regularly consume large quantities of caffeine (>300mg/day). When I was in high school, I rarely drank soda. I just didn't. I wasn't “not drink pop.” It just wasn't a staple at my house unless someone had the stomach flu. I'm not sure at this point how effective 7-Up was but that's when we most often drank pop. Or with a popcorn at the movies. So when I first went out with a guy I'd been serious about for 5 years and we hung out with others at a pizza joint, and I had a Diet Pepsi without a second thought, I was up all night. The 9pm soda was not a wise move. When I told the guy, he was like, “I was hoping that was because of me.” Maybe I should have played my cards differently, because although the guy was great, that sleepless night was most definitely the caffeine. The next year at college I was introduced to soda regularly for the stay-up-all-night and don't drink your calories benefit. The summer after that I was introduced to coffee by my brother and sister-in-law and diet cokes in the afternoon. I thought I'd discovered the secret to thin Southern women: they weren't fit, they were dehydrated since they seemed to drink Diet Coke like it was water. Throughout college and grad school, getting up to teach 6am classes or getting energy up again to teach 4:30 classes, I relied on Diet Coke way too much. To study before my 6am start and to teach another class at 4:30 or 5:30pm, I was relying on it. It's about then that the caffeine stopped helping me. I didn't just reach for a can before a class. I reached for two. You might guess what happened next. My gut was a hot mess. And though I didn't know at the time, artificial sweeteners in diet sodas are 400x as sweet as sugar and still can trigger blood sugar spikes. I was unintentionally a hypocrite teaching health and fitness and living kind of a junk food life with 24-packs of soda a part of my weekly grocery list. My Coffee Drinking Start Then, when it wasn't my Diet Coke, it was coffee I was introduced to during my first summer of college. That substitute was unfortunately a concoction of chemicals, bad oils and artificial sweeteners or sugar or both. But from that point on I don't think I've had many mornings in my life without caffeine. Fast forward decades. I began offering DNA testing for clients who really wanted to deep dive into their genetic predisposition for disease, identify how they can exercise and eat most optimally and have the optimal expression of their genetics by changing daily habits. I never share something I haven't used first. So, in addition to information like I do better to include a higher percent of endurance training than others, I do well with a slightly higher carb count, and I'm predisposed for obesity, I also learned I metabolize caffeine quickly. A coffee-drinking girl likes that! But, it doesn't mean it doesn't or can't spike a mid-life woman's blood sugar or wreak havoc with her gut. If you regularly have more than 300 mg caffeine a day more isn't going to give you an ergogenic aid nor will what you're having already. Your body has adapted. Is it better to have that prior to exercise? Possibly, so you can metabolize it. For some though it makes you jittery or negatively impact your blood sugar during exercise. If you tolerate caffeine, don't have much regularly or have it infrequently within 30 minutes of exercise, it can boost fat burning. It enhances fatty acid release. But… this is the downside of coffee 58% of coffee contains mycotoxins. These nasty compounds grow from mold on beans in various stages of production. Mycotoxins can lead to, among other things, common symptoms of menopause (so be hard to sort): Brain fog Food sensitivities Gut issues not previously there Unexplained weight gain Mood disorders So, it's one reason I made the switch to Danger Coffee. This is another. Minerals. When a habit you already have can get an upgrade and first, no longer give you gut issues and make you feel guilty about it, and also ADDS minerals to your body, then its double good. Most of us – 70% – are deficient in minerals – actually 70-80% deficient in some. Important things in small amounts make the body run well. Dave Asprey has taken the opportunity to make a habit we already enjoy and load it with minerals good for us (while also removing risk of mold – bad for us). Is Coffee Good or Bad For You? So when the age-old question, is coffee good or bad for you comes up, the answer is, it depends. What kind are you drinking? Consider this. If you're using coffee as an ergogenic aid, or one to help you get through a few more hours of fasting, you're doing both for health right? You want better exercise results. You want longevity benefits of fasting. So why would you add a coffee that may have mold or isn't tested and openly talking about these issues? So many things we do daily – like exercise, stress, over-the-counter medications, Rx, conditions or conditions/disease – deplete our minerals. Soil is depleted and so then the plants and animals that feed off plants are lower in mineral content. So even with a healthy diet, we likely can't consume all the minerals we need in food alone. Making the most of what you do consume is important. Two of the compounds in Danger Coffee actually benefit the gut. This has been a game changer for me. If you've listened for a while you know most mornings for 3 years now, I've started with matcha. Like almost entirely kicked coffee to the curb. Til now. The reason was twofold: gut health and cortisol. My gut feels good on Danger. I still am a matcha fan and yet, I'll decide what to drink now based on how I feel and what I'm doing in the morning. I've got options. The Last Downside of Coffee If you've got adrenal fatigue and you're relying on it, giving it up can be one of the ways to accelerate healing. Your cortisol levels rise, so too does blood sugar. Now, we're all doing that to some extent. You may be in a position to tolerate it. Cortisol is used as energy for exercise. Thus, if you're using it strategically, and not abusing it, this can work. If you're coasting til noon on coffee (through a period of time I find most women in our community do well to break a fast and get a high dose of protein in)… You could also be inhibiting your thyroid, the master metabolism gland. Some women can absolutely tolerate it. During phases of your life you potentially could. What we each have to assess is whether it's working right now or now. One thing is for sure, if you drink it, do so consciously deciding on the type and timing. Jeff Nichols (https://www.performancefirstus.com) and Stew Smith (https://www.stewsmithfitness.com) discuss the good and bad of ice baths and cold water immersion / showers. The concept of using cold for healing dates to ancient Egyptian and Roman civilizations, who used cold water and snow to help relieve muscle pain. Fast-forward to present day and you have ice baths, which are popular among athletes of all levels. Ice baths are typically made up of a bathtub or large container filled with cold water and ice. The athlete then submerges their entire body in the cold water for a set period, usually between 10 and 15 minutes. So, Are Ice Baths Good or Bad For You? As with any extreme temperature (hot or cold) too much is deadly. Hypothermia and frost bite are potential outcomes if you are careless and get into water in the mid 30 degree level or even stay too long in water in the 50-60 degree Fahrenheit range. If you are doing this for other reasons beside relieve muscle soreness, joint inflammation, and cooldown recovery purposes remember there is a fine line between mental toughness and stupidity. Anytime there is a potential for death or severe injury you have crossed that line. Who Should Use Them?Ice baths can reduce muscle soreness and fatigue, lower inflammation and help you recover faster. If you are an endurance type athlete and performing / competing in several events over the course of a weekend, using the ice bath or just cold water immersion after competing can help you. If it is hot and you still have to compete in more training or events in the same day (weekend tournaments), cold water immersion can not only be helpful with reducing body heat but also help you with fatigue. I have always said that half of fatigue is often due to body heat. Reduce body heat and find a second wind. Who Should NOT Use Them? While there are benefits to cold water immersion, cold showers, and ice baths, there are some potential risks to consider. For example, people with poor circulation or high blood pressure should avoid taking ice baths, as the cold water can put too much strain on their body. Additionally, it's important to take frequent breaks to ensure that your body isn't exposed to the cold water for too long. Also, people who are training hard to build muscle should NOT use ice baths. Science has shown that for muscle mass athletes, hard gainers, and bodybuilders should not consider a program where cold water is part of recovery as it can reduce hypertrophy (muscle building) gains. The answer depends on the individual, but there are several precautions to consider before taking an ice bath. First, keep in mind that an ice bath should never be done without proper supervision. Make sure you consult with a doctor or trainer before trying an ice bath.Second, don't stay in the ice bath for too long. 10-15 minutes is the maximum recommended time for an ice bath. Going over this time can put you at risk for hypothermia or other health complications.Third, make sure the water isn't too cold. The water should be between 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit. If the water is too cold, it can cause muscle spasms, dizziness, panic, or disorientation. If you want to start slowly, end your normal shower with the coldest water you can get from the tap for 1-2 minutes. This will help you learn some of the breathing control methods taught by gurus like Wim Hof.If you're looking for a way to improve your recovery and boost your performance, ice baths can be a great addition to your recovery routine. Just make sure to listen to your body and take the proper precautions to ensure your safety. At the end of the day, it's up to you to decide if the potential benefits of an ice bath outweigh the risks. If you decide to give it a try, make sure to take all the necessary precautions. With proper care, an ice bath can be a great way to help you reach your fitness goals and recover faster.Check out other videos of combat swimmer stroke, workouts, and other spec ops related training. Erectile dysfunction in males is an indication that there is underlying cardiovascular disease. [21:18] What Can We Do About Low Testosterone? Simply Tips to Raise Testosterone Naturally Processed foods have an impact on testosterone production in the body. The body only creates the amount of testosterone needs based on the activity. The testicles are located outside the body because sperm and testosterone production occur best around 97.1 degrees. Physical activity is essential for raising testosterone production. [28:10] The Best Ways to Test Testosterone Levels Testosterone levels can be measured using saliva and blood. The testicle produces four to seven milligrams of testosterone every day but does not store it. It immediately releases it into the bloodstream and attaches testosterone to protein. Testosterone is a wonderful hormone, but there are repercussions if it is taken incorrectly. [37:12] Testosterone therapy: Good or Bad For You? Just because you start testosterone therapy doesn't imply you have to do it for the rest of your life. Clomid is a testosterone supplement with no side effects that can help safeguard testicular function. In terms of fertility, Beta-hCG stimulates testosterone and sperm production. [41:12] Testosterone Boosting Supplements to Naturally Raise T Levels When manufacturing supplements, use substances that have been scientifically proven to work. Is Gluten that Bad For You? The short answer is: it depends… Do you have celiac disease? This is an autoimmune reaction to gluten that causes long term digestive issues and prevents your body from being able to absorb the nutrients it needs Gold standard is biopsy; blood tests are not totally accurate. Interestingly the associated disorders include low thyroid - Hashimoto's - AI thyroid; malabsorption, B-12 and iron deficiency Gluten sensitivity? This is a blood test for the antibodies to the gluten - this is different than an allergy - IBS, brain fog, headaches, neurological symptoms, tremors, vertigo, anxiety, depression, fatigue, muscle and joint pain Any other Auto-Immune disorder or symptoms of AI? Positive ANA - and maybe other AI? Do you have leaky gut?? Check out my last two Wednesday podcasts to learn more...

Hello So Deep Peeps! Welcome to That's So Deep. This is the podcast where we try to root out loneliness one conversation at a time. Today we are talking about Complaining: Why do we do it? And does it really make us feel better? Some deep things we cover:Complaining is Contagious: We all do it. Three Types of Complaining: We discuss the difference between venting, problem solving, and ruminatingChecking in with the “Complaint Receiver”: You often need to complain TO someone BUT are they in a head space to receive your complaining? What is the difference between healthy venting vs. emotional dumping?“I need to process this”: a way to shift your complaining into problem solving. It's not you it's me: Our complaints are often about us and our triggers and not about others.F Bombs in Journals: Phyllis shares how she emotionally dumps into a journal and how that helps her.Take-aways:When you find yourself wanting to complain to someone, first figure out what you need. Do you need to emotionally dump? Do you need appreciation? Do you need to vent? Do you need to figure out why something is bothering you? Before you complain, check in with the person who you are complaining to. See if they are in a head space to receive your complaint. If they are, then ask for what you need. If they are not, consider journaling or going for a walk. In general, the most healthful and helpful way to “complain” is to problem solve or "process."Pay attention to how often you complain. Pay attention to who you complain to. Pay attention to if the conversations you are having are “complaint heavy” and if so, think about why and how you might have different conversations. We want to have a conversation with you!The whole point of this podcast is to facilitate and encourage deeper conversations and we want to hear from you! There are many ways to connect with us. Feeling emotional isn't bad, it doesn't make you weak or mean that you're an irrational person, but our emotions can get the best of us and lead us to do and say things that aren't healthy for us. A lot of us struggle with frustration, irritation, or maybe you're living in a constant state of anger. It's not always bad to feel angry, but it is BAD FOR YOU to stay angry.
Is it fair to say you've been outraged by some of the risky things you've seen people doing during this pandemic? And is it also fair to say that maybe (just maybe) your assessment of how risky those things were.... was very, very biased? Also, why are so many of us so anxious about life going back to normal?
Today, I am blessed to have here with me for the THIRD time Dr. Jeff Matheson. He is the co-founder of an all-natural migraine and headache centre, which promotes a non-narcotic approach to pain and headache management. Plus, Dr. Jeff Matheson is the co-founder and medical director of Pure Life Science. Dr. Jeff Matheson successfully practiced medicine in emergency departments across Canada and internationally, from Ontario, Newfoundland, and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. He later was appointed Medical Director of Med-EmergInc in 1998, a company dedicated to staffing underserved hospitals in Canada. Dr. Matheson has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South East Asia and well as Oceania. According to Dr. Matheson, “traveling is the best education!” Dr. Matheson is an enthusiastic believer, as well as being immersed in other cultures. Similarly, if one does not listen to patients, one won’t hear what is necessary to understand the patient’s problem, i.e., the patient’s “culture.” It is with this ability to listen and empathize with the patients that Dr. Matheson allows an accurate diagnosis and develop sustainable solutions, optimizing health, and patient outcomes. If a solution cannot be determined, resources will be dedicated, through the involvement of alternative care specialists, ascertaining the best possible treatment for the patient by trying to treat causes, not just manage symptoms. In this episode, Dr. Jeff Matheson dives straight into how our body will produce energy through our cell membranes. If someone lacks energy, they usually think they have a hormone problem, meaning they need to take more hormones. However, that's not the case. Dr. Jeff Matheson explains how our hormones require a delicate balance; adding exogenous hormones will push our bodies out of balance. Instead, think about making different nutritional decisions to fix any hormone irregularities. Later, we discuss why keto and fasting are great for our cells and why fish oils aren't so great for them. Tune in as we chat all about Pure Life Omegas. Pure Form Omega: https://purelifescience.com/products/pure-form-omega-natural (Use code: Ben4) Pure Form Omega Liquid: https://purelifescience.com/products/pure-form-omega-liquid (Use code: Ben3) [01:15] How Our Body Will Produce Energy We're made up of about 70 trillion cells. Our body is great at communication, not only within each organ but between organs. All this communication is done through the cell membranes. The cell membrane is the basic divide between the outside world and the inside world – that’s where the fundamental communication takes place. All hormonal issues boil down to unhealthy cell membranes. [03:45] Hormones Aren’t That Simple Hormones need a delicate balance. If you start adding exogenous hormones into the system, you're going to push that system out of balance. How adding exogenous hormones into your body will affect you later on down the road is really difficult to predict. The whole hormonal cascade is extremely complex. When people correct their underlying nutritional issues, usually within six to nine months, they should be able to come off all exogenous hormones. [06:25] Bad Things That Develop In Our Cells The problem that will affect people first is mitochondrial issues. The mitochondria is a very high-energy place, it's supposed to produce lots of energy, but it can be screwed up fairly easily. The first thing that people feel is fatigue - that's that mitochondria sort of breaking down. Later down the road, genetic issues will show up, and that’s when you start getting cancers. [09:15] Why Your Supplements Might Not Be Working If you have an unhealthy cell membrane, things can't get in. On average, the cell membrane is 50% fat. If you have abnormal fats in that cell membrane, that membrane becomes more like plastic. When you put plastic wrap on something, not a lot of stuff gets through. So, you won't be able to get good things in very efficiently, and you won't be able to get the bad things out very efficiently. It's only a matter of time in that kind of situation until you have a total cell breakdown. [14:30] How Keto & Fasting Help Support The Cell Membrane The brain is about 70% fat – it operates on keto about seven to eleven times more efficiently than on carbohydrates. Fat-based energy production is way more efficient. Every single one of our ancestors did keto because their environment forced them into it. Once you achieve metabolic freedom and flexibility, your body can actually manufacture glucose from the fat and from protein. [18:20] Is Omega-6 Bad For You? Omega-6 isn’t bad for you; processed omega-6 is bad for you. Omega-6 has the same oxygen-binding capacity as hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is also intimately bound to the cell membrane; so, they work well together. After people take the proper amount of omega-6, they feel better. Plus, they will be able to feel it fast. [21:10] The Issue With Fish Oil Fish oil is high in EPA and DHA. They're what we call unsaturated are much more unstable. Not only is fish oil too unstable for us, it's not really needed in very large quantities. As it turns out, the brain only uses about seven and a half milligrams per day of EPA and DHA. People on a high dose of fish oil will have a problem with nose bleeds – it’s an obvious example of fluidity. If you overload yourself with fish oil, the mitochondria is only half as efficient as it should be. [34:55] Is Eating Fish Bad Too? You can certainly eat fish. When you cook it, you're destroying the fats anyways. It's the deepwater fish that are higher in EPA and DHA. Fish have a lot of good nutrition in it unless it's been contaminated with heavy metals and stuff. In Japan, where they eat mostly raw fish, they do have higher rates of hemorrhagic strokes. Fish that have fewer heavy metals are ones with a fast turnover like sardines. Tuna is a bad one because tuna will eat a lot of other fish and is lower on the food chain. [39:45] About Pure Form Pure Form Omega® Natural is an organic, plant-based, fish-free, cold-pressed, source of omega-6 and omega-3 essential fatty acids. It has been processed in a way that retains all the functions of the fat. It is a proprietary formulation made up of primrose oil, sunflower seed oil, pumpkin seed oil, and organic extra virgin coconut oil. These are all excellent sources of essential omega-6, along with organic flaxseed oil for essential omega-3, to obtain what we consider the ideal omega 3-6 combination. [45:25] Good vs. Bad Sunflower Oil If you look at the average sunflower oil, even organic sunflower oil that's on the shelf, it's not cold-pressed. Heat and oxygen are bad for fats. When you do cold pressure, you actually lose about 20% of the oil. You can put a processed oil on the shelf for years; it'll look the same. [51:20] Hangover Prevention Since the brain is 70% fat, you put all the good fats in the brain, you don't get headaches. Just another reason to love Pure Form Omega®. However, most people will feel a little tired the next day because alcohol disturbs your sleep pattern. Luckily, you won't have the headache and all the other stuff that accompanies those hangovers. Today’s episode is all about sun safety, debunking myths and promoting the healthiest practices for keeping safe during hot summer days. We begin our conversation by discussing the history behind why the sun is commonly viewed as dangerous and detrimental to our health, focusing on how modern medicine has blamed the sun for causing cancer and melanoma. We explain how this fear of cancer from the sun is unfounded and illogical, and how it is more important to focus on how much our body benefits from the sun by increasing vitamin D levels and strengthening our immune system. We take you through the things that actually cause melanoma and skin cancer, such as irregular sun exposure and improper filtering of artificial light, as well as the blocking of the endocannabinoid system and endorphin pathways, which are both stimulated by being out in the sun. Another is tissue calcium depletion, and that leads us into a discussion of the best ways to supplement calcium, as well as the ingredients to efficient calcium absorption. We explain how sunblock is not the most effective preventative measure, because it only filters out UVB rays, whereas UVA rays are the ones that cause cancer. We also talk about how it can limit vitamin D absorption, and point out that, while it is good for preventing burns in the moment, it is not a long-term solution because people have been using sunblock for years and skin cancer rates are still going up. We instead recommend working your way up to longer periods of sun exposure, as well as the use of an infrared sauna or a Sperti Vitamin D lamp (https://www.sperti.com/product/sperti-vitamin-d-light-box/). We also recommend limiting your exposure to artificial light by spending more time outside, using blue light filters, and timing your sleep with the rising and setting of the sun. We talk about the best supplements to help your body prevent sun damage (you can find a list here: http://gutsy.ch/sun). We recommend supplementing Vitamin E, Vitamin C, collagen, and using chlorophyll complex (watch out, it stains green!) and USF ointment (the paste form of Cataplex® F). The Sun Isn’t Bad For You 3:34The 5 Necessary Conditions for A Melanoma 16:40How to Prevent Melanoma and Why We Don’t Like Sunblock 34:38Best Ways To Treat Sunburns 55:27“Those are the 5 conditions -- I’m just gonna repeat them one more time: Not getting enough sun, Burning whenever you do go in the sun, Being exposed to artificial light all the time, not getting enough endocannabinoids and endorphins in your system, and tissue-calcium depletion. That is the perfect recipe for melanoma.” 34:04Become a Member! http://gutsy.ch/membershipSocialwww.mygutsyhealth.comhttps://www.instagram.com/gutsy_mom/@provohealth@gutsy_mom
The queen is in the building, everyone bow down! We interviewed the soulful and stylish diva Natascha Bessez from The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart. We talk about her start in music, how she landed on our screen, and her relationship with Ryan Neal on the show. NOTE: Unfortunately we had technical difficulties during the recording process. There was a potion that we had to cut and apologize to you and Natascha for the issue. We didn’t want to have you miss out on learning more about her and hearing her answers, so we recapped the portion of that conversation before jumping into the interview. If you want to skip the recap Natascha’s interview starts at 10:55. Listen to Natascha and Ryan’s new song Bad For You! https://www.drchadpeters.com/blog/lectins-are-wrecking-your-body the podcast is a bit different than the article - all valid beginner info. I feel the top dog in this field is Dr. Steven Gundy and his book lant paradox. The book is deep and long and in a way scary...everything is bad...until you get to the end and he shows you how you can eliminate a ton of lectins with pressure cooking! That should have been chapter 2!!I recommend his recipe book from the plant paradox more often as the science is much more basic. You guys that want to dive deep. Go for it!https://gundrymd.com/
I’ve churned through over 150,000 emails, social media comments and messages, and blog comments in the last 6 years. And that means I’ve fielded a ton of questions. As you can imagine, some questions pop up more often than others, and I thought it might be helpful to take a little time every month to choose a few and record and share my answers. So, in this round, I answer the following four questions: 1. What is the best way to get ripped for a photoshoot or event? (2:32) 2. Is it harmful to eat below your basal metabolic rate? (8:09) 3. How can Bigger Leaner Stronger or Thinner Leaner Stronger be modified for intermediate and advanced weightlifters? (13:23) 4. Should I stop eating red meat? (21:46) If you have a question you’d like me to answer, leave a comment below or if you want a faster response, send an email to mike@muscleforlife.com. Yep: it's true. All those woo-woo pollyannas out there can do one. Positive thinking is BAD FOR YOU. Okay, not all of it, but there's something much better out there that'll help you build a fabulous life and business, and Vicky and Joe are here to share it with you. Also featuring rhubarb gin, and an interesting elbow bruise. Key Takeaways: [2:00] Positive thinking is bad for you! [2:40] What is a pollyanna? [4:45] Positive thinking is a massive industry and Vicky believes it’s America’s fault. (Sorry America). [7:40] Negative emotions can benefit your overall psychological health. [9:30] People who believe that our emotions are flexible and changeable are more likely to blame themselves when they experience negative emotions. [11:20] You can’t appropriately deal with your negative emotions if you don’t acknowledge them consciously. [14:00] What does the data say about positive thinking? [16:35] Pessimists were less prone to depression after experiencing a negative life event. [19:00] You can’t think your way out of a serious illness. Positivity helps, but it doesn’t cure you. [21:15] Did you know window shopping makes you feel as good as actual shopping psychologically? [23:35] The physical act of smiling can make you feel happier. [26:40] What can people do to improve their outcomes? Vicky offers some actionable steps. [29:40] Can you turn back time by simply ‘acting’ younger? [32:35] Vicky offers some final takeaways from this week’s show. [33:20] Like this podcast? Please share it!
