Title: Practicing the Way — The Practice of ScriptureMain Texts: Romans 12:2; Matthew 7:24–29Big Idea: The practice of Scripture is our starting place. It's how we build a foundation strong enough to withstand life's storms.Key Points:Three Forces That Shape UsThe stories we believeThe habits we buildThe relationships we keepBut the stories we believe shape us most—and the enemy uses lies to distort them. The Castle of the Mind (Illustration)A warrior named Julian guards a castle built on truth. But lies sneak in through neglected cracks.Truth (Scripture) restores clarity and strength. We must renew our minds daily with the Book of Light.Formation Is Always HappeningWhether we realize it or not, we're always being formed—by culture, media, success, pain, etc.Romans 12:2 — Don't conform, be transformed by renewing your mind.Jesus as Rabbi: Truth-TellerA rabbi's job was to reveal truth, not just inform minds but capture hearts.Scripture isn't just information—it's formation.Truth vs. Cultural LiesPaganism: Many gods → The Lord is One (Mark 12:29)Moral relativism: Multiple truths → Jesus is the TruthSocial hierarchy: Exalt self → Serve and be humbledSelf-centeredness: You are not the center → Jesus must bePutting Truth into PracticeMatthew 7:24–29 — Don't just hear the Word—practice it.Storms don't create a foundation; they reveal it.Truth must become lifestyle: worship, obedience, sacrifice.Final Challenge:Start where you are. Let Scripture reshape the story you believe—then live it out.

The Epic Conclusion to the Original Star Wars TrilogyJoin hosts Krissy Lenz and Nathan Blackwell, along with special guest Francis Zagarigo, as they dive into the thrilling conclusion of the original Star Wars trilogy—Return of the Jedi (1983). This episode explores how the final installment wraps up the saga with its unforgettable characters, iconic scenes, and the ultimate battle between good and evil.Francis shares that this was his first time watching the film and declares it his favorite of the trilogy. Nathan, on the other hand, ranks it third but acknowledges its powerful ending. The hosts debate the merits of the Jabba's Palace sequence, with Krissy humorously describing it as "a Colombian drug dealer's backyard party," complete with dancing girls and bounty hunters. The group also examines Luke Skywalker's character arc, noting his all-black costume and monk-like demeanor, which hint at his potential temptation by the dark side. They highlight the reveal of Luke's green lightsaber, a practical filmmaking choice that perfectly aligns with his character's evolution.Key Topics CoveredThe impressive Jabba the Hutt puppet that weighed 2,000 pounds and cost $500,000 to buildThe problematic yet iconic "Slave Leia" metal bikini costumeThe Ewoks as an allegory for indigenous peoples overcoming technologically superior invadersIan McDiarmid's scene-stealing performance as Emperor PalpatineThe emotional redemption of Darth Vader and his sacrifice to save LukeThe satisfying conclusion that brings the original trilogy full circleSpecial edition changes, including CGI additions and an altered musical numberHost Ratings and Deep Cut RecommendationsThe hosts rate the film highly: Francis and Nathan both give it 8.5 out of 10 Ewoks, while Krissy insists it deserves a perfect 10 out of 10 Ewoks. For "deep cut" recommendations, Nathan suggests The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King as another excellent trilogy conclusion, Francis recommends Gremlins 2, and Krissy suggests Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars.Whether you're a lifelong Star Wars fan or experiencing the trilogy for the first time, this episode captures the magic that made Return of the Jedi an unforgettable cinematic experience that continues to resonate with audiences decades later. --We couldn't do this without your support of The Most Excellent 80s Movies Podcast! Should you buy or build? Hire an engineer? Go headless? These are the questions that can consume DTC brands, and there's no one-size-fits-all answer. We were joined once again by Ben Kochavy, who helped shed light on the questions above. The key takeaway is this: there's a time for brands to live on a platform like Shopify, and a time to go custom. There's also a middle ground, where you can build custom apps for your Shopify-based business. What you don't want to do is drown your early-stage company in engineering costs, or hobble your growth with systems that prevent agile pivots. At its essence, marketing today is about answering one question: “How can we be heard?” Mark Schaefer, featured guest on this special episode of the Reputation Revolution podcast, poses the question: How can we rise above the din of infinite options to create sustainable meaning with an audience or group of customers? He says following the old rules of digital engagement is not enough … not nearly enough. Even being “great” is insufficient in the face of overwhelming competition redefining the limits of excellence every day. Mark is a world-renowned blogger, best-selling author and keynote speaker . His long-running blog {grow} is regarded as one of the top marketing blogs in the world, plus he has written nine books, including his latest best-seller, Cumulative Advantage: How to Build Momentum for Your Ideas, Business and Life.  In this conversation with host Trevor Young, Mark talks at length about the premise behind his new book and the journey that led him to write it. He also unpacks how businesses and individuals can tap into the concepts behind Cumulative Advantage to build momentum for their own ideas. Mark covers: The 5 steps of Cumulative AdvantageBest practices to stay the course once momentum has begun to buildThe clarity Mark got for the next steps in his life and business after contracting COVID-19The ‘sonic boom’ concept and how to use it to leverage your idea. ... plus Tim Ferriss and Oprah get a decent look-in as well! Mark's Quotable quote: “It’s not the idea that changes your life, it’s the curiosity to pursue it”. NOTE: Stay tuned for the next episode - part two of this interview - in which Mark discusses how he has evolved his personal brand over the years, along with other marketing gold! Contracts, Evictions, Housing Law. These topics might make your eyes glaze over, but they are becoming big issues for the tiny house movement. My guest today is Jody Gabel, a trial attorney with 25 years of experience in mobile home park law, RV tenancies, landlord/tenant and housing law, and local government issues. On the show, we’ll explore the challenges and solutions facing tiny house dwellers, landlords, and communities. I learned a lot and I know you will too!Full show notes and links at thetinyhouse.net/149In This Episode:Read your contract, read the lease, understand the expectations, and get it in writingWhat to look out for in a contract and what to be cautious ofWhat does "replevin" mean and how might it apply to you?Do you want to rent to tiny house dwellers? Here's what you need in your contractSometimes exceptions are reasonable and appropriateHow to protect yourself and your buildThe obvious and not-so-obvious effects of COVID on the tiny house movementShould your builder have you sign an NDA?What should you do if you have an issue with your builder or landlord? The importance of knowing your rights as a resident and where to find the infoLet’s face it, most Tiny House dwellers want their homes to be small, but not uncomfortable. That means reliable, unlimited, hot water. Precision Temp’s propane-fired hot water heaters reliably provide unlimited hot water, and they’re specifically designed with tiny homes in mind. In fact, the NSP 550 model was installed in my own tiny home, and the reason I chose it was because it did not require a large hole in the side of my home like other RV hot water heaters. Instead, it mounts discreetly through the floor of the tiny house and works quietly and reliably. With their patented VariFlame technology, these are the only gas-fired tankless water heaters approved by RVIA and are ANS certified. Features such as cold weather and wind protection, precise electronic temperature control, and onboard diagnostics are standard. With higher efficiency and 55,000 BTUs of power, these units produce far more hot water than traditional water heaters. And since they don't come on unless you want hot water (or to protect against freezing), you may find that you use as little as half the propane or natural gas as before. So go ahead and take that long, hot shower! Precisiontemp is offering listeners of the Tiny House Lifestyle Podcast $100 off plus free shipping using the coupon code THLP.
