Hey everybody, season 1 of the SPECTACULAR X-Men '97 has wrapped up its run on Disney+. have been EAGERLY awaiting covering the remainder of the season ever since I reviewed the first two episodes and how much I just LOVED them. While I do think the season does have its hiccups, this season is everything I love and have missed with the X-Men in the films and even recent comic runs. I will also be delving deep into spoiler plot lines so be warned before listening to this review! Enjoy! Synopsis: One year after Henry Peter Gyrich's assassination attempt on Professor Charles Xavier led to Xavier leaving Earth with the alien Shi'ar and being presumed dead, the X-Men continue his mission of defending mutants and humans alike.
In the latest episode of X-Men, titled "Bright Eyes," the narrative unfolds with poignant moments and intense confrontations, unveiling a complex web of alliances and conflicts within the mutant world and beyond. The episode kicks off with the X-Men mourning the loss of Gambit at his funeral, where Rogue is notably absent. Nightcrawler delivers a heartfelt eulogy, honoring Gambit's transformation from a troubled soul to a hero, drawing parallels between life and the unpredictable nature of card games. Meanwhile, Rogue takes matters into her own hands, venting her anger by attacking U.S. military assets, catching the attention of General Ross.Rogue's path crosses with Captain America, who is also seeking Henry Peter Gyrich and Bolivar Trask, key figures associated with the ominous Operation: Zero Tolerance (OZT). Despite Captain America's reluctance to aid Rogue, she presses on, confronting Gyrich in an unexpected twist, utilizing her powers to extract crucial information. As tensions rise, Bastion emerges on the scene, eliminating Gyrich and further escalating the conflict. Simultaneously, the X-Men grapple with the aftermath of the Genoshan tragedy, facing a devastated landscape and searching for survivors, including the enigmatic Emma Frost, transformed into her diamond form amidst the ruins.Interwoven with these events are personal struggles, as Beast confronts journalist Trish Tilby over her stance on mutant rights, reflecting on the broader societal implications of their ongoing battle for acceptance. Meanwhile, Roberto grapples with the revelation of his mutant identity to his affluent mother, navigating the complexities of family dynamics and societal perceptions. The narrative reaches a climax as Trask reaches out to the X-Men for help, cryptically mentioning "They're never out of diet," leading to a tense confrontation at his facility. Morph's discovery of classified Sentinel bodies sets the stage for a harrowing battle against Trask, who undergoes a terrifying transformation into a Prime Sentinel.Despite the X-Men's valiant efforts, they find themselves outmatched until Cable intervenes, offering assistance and revealing sinister alliances at play. Bastion's ominous meeting with Sinister hints at larger machinations, as Magneto becomes a captive in their mysterious plans. The episode leaves viewers on the edge of their seats, teeming with anticipation for the unfolding drama and the looming threat posed by Bastion and his allies. With each revelation, the stakes escalate, setting the stage for a thrilling continuation of the X-Men saga.
To Me, My X-Men & Mutant Liberation BeginsOne year after Professor Charles Xavier left Earth with the Shi'ar,[a] the X-Men continue their mission to defend mutants and humans alike and go on to become legally sanctioned by the United Nations (UN). Additionally, Jean Grey has become pregnant while support for mutants has grown. After the X-Men save a young mutant named Roberto da Costa from the Friends of Humanity (FoH), Jean sees that they were outfitted with Sentinel tech and probes Henry Peter Gyrich's mind for the location of the Sentinels' creator, Bolivar Trask. Despite succeeding, she receives a horrifying premonition while doing so. The team later find Trask at a junkyard in the Sahara, where he is rebuilding his Sentinels with the aid of a lobotomized Master Mold. After defeating the Sentinels and apprehending Trask, Cyclops and Jean ponder leaving the team to raise their son away from mutant hatred. The following day, Magneto reveals Xavier's will, in which Xavier gave him control of the Institute and entrusted him with leading the X-Men.While trying to live up to Xavier's legacy, Magneto has taken to saving humans and mutants alike and refraining from killing anti-mutant militants. Distrustful of him, Cyclops and Jean stay to observe Magneto while Rogue sympathizes with his struggles. When UN forces led by Valerie Cooper arrive at the Institute to arrest Magneto for his past terrorism, he surrenders peacefully, hoping to gain the X-Men and humanity's trust. During his trial at the UN's headquarters, the FoH stage an assault on the building. Their leader, X-Cutioner, attempts to shoot a de-powering radiation blast at Magneto, but Storm takes the hit for him. Magneto stops the assault, after which the UN grants him a pardon and discuss the possibility of integrating the mutant nation Genosha. Meanwhile, Jean goes into labor and Rogue is forced to absorb an obstetrician's knowledge when he refuses to deliver a mutant's baby. Jean gives birth to a son, whom she names Nathan. When Beast informs Storm that X-Cutioner's blast de-powered her permanently, she leaves the team to find new meaning in life. While discussing her decision, the X-Men are surprised by the sudden arrival of a woman who looks identical to Jean.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

As with most Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, “Strange 2” is revealing itself to be a frontloaded box office affair, though there isn't much on May's release slate that looks to pose much competition except for Focus Features' “Downtown Abbey: A New Era” next week and Paramount's “Top Gun: Maverick” on Memorial Day weekend. After the expected plummet from a fanatic-packed opening day tally, “Multiverse of Madness” should balance out to around a 67% drop for the weekend. That's on the steeper side of sophomore weekend drops for a Marvel Studios entry, though by starting with the eleventh-biggest domestic debut of all time there isn't anywhere to go from there but down. On Friday, Disney announced that “Strange 2” had crossed $550 million globally in just nine days. The film should surpass a $300 million domestic gross sometime over the next week. DISNEY+ Disney+ Will Have Fewer Commercials Than Hulu, But Buyer Demand Is “Extraordinary”, Ad Chief Rita Ferro Says; Netflix And Other Newcomers Should Note “It Isn't Easy” Disney+ Will Have Fewer Commercials Than Hulu, But Buyer Demand Is “Extraordinary”, Ad Chief Rita Ferro Says, And Netflix And Other Newcomers Should Note “It Isn't Easy” – Deadline Rita Ferro, president of ad sales for Disney, said the forthcoming ad-supported tier of Disney+ will have a less “robust” amount of ads compared with Hulu. That disparity, at least initially, will mainly be because about 65% of subscribers come to the streaming service for movies, which don't lend themselves to commercial interruption. “Movies are the reason people come to the platform, and movies have a different ad load,” she explained. The family-friendly nature of Disney+ will also limit the scope to “four-quadrant” advertisers. Disney last evening hosted its upfronts pitch to advertisers and aside from a brief tease from CEO Bob Chapek at the outset, there were no specifics offered about the ad tier. Consumer pricing, timing and other details are still TBD. Speaking alongside Disney CFO Christine McCarthy at a conference hosted by Wall Street research firm MoffettNathanson, Ferro said the plan is to “start slow” with 15- and 30-second spots before adding the full suite of ad options on Disney+. Since the announcement earlier this year about the ad-supported option, she said, “I can't even tell you the demand we've had for this. … The response has been extraordinary.” ‘Daredevil' Disney+ Series in the Works With Matt Corman, Chris Ord Set to Write (EXCLUSIVE) 'Daredevil' Disney+ Series in the Works With Writers Set (EXCLUSIVE) - Variety A new “Daredevil” series is moving forward at Disney+, with Variety having exclusively learned from sources that Matt Corman and Chris Ord are attached to write and executive produce. Rumors have persisted for some time that a Disney+ series about the Man Without Fear was in the works, especially considering that two of the stars of the Netflix “Daredevil” series — Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio — have appeared in recent Marvel projects. Cox once again played Matt Murdock, the secret identity of Daredevil, in the film “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” while D'Onofrio reprised the role of Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. Kingpin, in the Disney+ series “Hawkeye.” It now appears that the project is picking up steam with the hiring of Corman and Ord, although Marvel has yet to announce anything regarding the show formally. Fans have been clamoring for more Daredevil ever since the Netflix series was canceled in 2018 after three seasons. They were in for a long wait, however, as Variety reported in 2018 that the deal with Netflix included a clause that prevented any characters from the Marvel-Netflix shows from appearing in any non-Netflix projects for two years after cancellation. The move came as Disney looked to bring its Marvel heroes under one umbrella, with multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe shows having since debuted on Disney+. “Moon Knight” starring Oscar Isaac was the last such show to premiere, with a trailer for the “She-Hulk” series starring Tatiana Maslany dropping earlier this week. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law Gets Disney+ Premiere Date — New Trailer Reveals Jameela Jamil's Villainous Titania https://tvline.com/2022/05/17/she-hulk-trailer-release-date-disney-plus-video/#recipient_hashed=a5f3f1bf6ce5c428ba6c8408620c6c38d7f27f4c366c84aa1d913bc1a3ffc188 Marvel's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, starring Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) in the title role, will premiere Wednesday, Aug. 17, TVLine has confirmed. The announcement was made official during Disney's Upfront presentation in New York, where the streamer also unveiled the first official trailer. In addition to Maslany as Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk, the show's cast also includes Mark Ruffalo (I Know This Much Is True) as Bruce Banner aka The Hulk, Tim Roth (Twin Peaks) as Emil Blonsky aka Abomination, Ginger Gonzaga (Kidding) as Jennifer's BFF, Renée, Elise Goldsberry (Girls5Eva) as Amelia, Jameela Jamil (The Good Place) as Titania. She-Hulk is the latest in a long line of Marvel series produced for Disney+. Previous releases included WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye and Moon Knight. Still to come are Ms. Marvel, Secret Invasion and Ironheart, among numerous other series and holiday specials. Chapek suggested that it should not be a concern, as evidenced by the ongoing box office success of films such as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. At a recent post-earnings conference call, Chapek stated, "We've got a long track record of success and a strong fan base for our brands and franchises in this market... We'll continue to submit our films for release. And it is worth noting, I think, though, that at the time that we are having some difficulty in getting our films in China, that Doctor Strange did extraordinarily well." He added, "So we're pretty confident that even without China, if it were to be that we continue to have difficulties in getting titles in there, that it doesn't really preclude our success given the relatively lower take rate that we get on the box office in China than we do across the rest of the world." Thus far, the Doctor Strange sequel has grossed approximately $507.8 million at the box office worldwide, including $213.6M domestically. The financial success of the recently released Marvel Studios film follows shortly after the monumental success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which earned $1.89 billion worldwide, without ever being released in China. DISNEY+ Disney+ Hits 137.7M Subscribers, Beating Wall Street Expectations in Streaming https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/business-news/disney-q2-2022-earnings-streaming-1235144837/ Disney once again beat Wall Street expectations last quarter in streaming, adding 7.9 million Disney+ subscribers, and suggesting that the company may be positioned to take a lead in what has become a cutthroat race to the top in streaming. While Wall Street expectations for Disney+ were varied, a midpoint expectation was 4.5 million to 5 million adds. Disney reported revenue of $19.2 billion and income of $3.7 billion, with earnings per share of $1.08. Wall Street expectations were for revenue of $20.1 billion, operating income of $3.3 billion, and EPS of $1.17. The EPS miss could be due to a change in tax regulations, which saw the company's effective tax rate balloon from 8.8 percent a year ago to 45.8 percent last quarter. Disney also took a $1 billion hit related to ending content licensing agreements early that it could use it on its own streaming service. Disney didn't break out what that programming was, but it is likely the output deal with Netflix, including the streaming services' Marvel series. While nearly every other MCU movie has found a streaming home on Disney+, HBO Max recently announced that The Incredible Hulk starring Ed Norton, Liv Tyler and Tim Roth will start streaming on its service beginning April 8. The Incredible Hulk now joins Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home and No Way Home as the only MCU films not currently available on Disney+. Earlier in March, all of Netflix's Marvel shows were removed from the streaming platform, eventually landing on Disney+ on March 16. While watching the Jessica Jones Season 1 episode "A.K.Arrrr. Crush Syndrome" on Disney+, one fan caught that the Netflix name had not been entirely removed from the opening credit sequence, posting it on Reddit. For other episodes of the series and shows like Daredevil and Luke Cage though, these credits have been removed entirely without a trace. Marvel Studios Developing New Cosmic Project https://www.cbr.com/marvel-studios-developing-new-cosmic-project/ According to the latest issue of Production Weekly, a trustworthy industry publication that tracks and chronicles films and series in various stages of development, Marvel Studios is beginning work on a new cosmic project. The entry is simply listed as, "Untitled Marvel Space Project" and sports the status of "Development." As can be expected, Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege is currently listed as the only producer attached to the project. Beyond its existence, nothing else is known about what this mysterious chapter in the MCU will entail. MARVEL TELEVISION Avengers: Endgame Almost Featured an Agents of SHIELD Character (Photo) https://thedirect.com/article/avengers-endgame-agents-of-shield-character-photo Avengers Endgame Almost Included Marvel TV Marvel Studios made its first major reference to the television side in Avengers: Endgame. Agent Carter's Edwin Jarvis made a brief cameo as Howard Stark's butler during the 1970s Tesseract segment of the Time Heist, tying those two projects together. But it seems the same sequence came close to bringing Agents of SHIELD into the picture through Season 2 antagonist Daniel Whitehall. The Hydra boss spent the early days of his career recovering powerful artifacts under the Red Skull before joining him to work on the Tesseract, explaining his link to the Time Heist plans. Despite being born in 1904, Whitehall retained his middle-aged appearance in the modern-day after using harvesting the DNA and organs of an Inhuman to de-age himself. After causing half a season of trouble for the Agents of SHIELD team, Whitehall was finally shot and killed by Phil Coulson in 2014, meaning he was still alive during the Avengers' first attempt to recover the Tesseract for 2012. Reed Diamond must have been shocked to receive a call from Marvel to check his availability, given his Hydra villain had been killed off years earlier. Since Whitehall was alive throughout the entire Time Heist, it's anyone's guess where he may have appeared. The Hydra Boss was captured by the SSR in 1945 and held until 1989, meaning he may have been considered for the 1970s SHIELD base scene with the young Peggy Carter, Hank Pym, and Howard Stark. The scrapped Agents of SHIELD crossover would have left Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, and all five heroes of "The Defenders Saga" as the only major omissions from Avengers: Endgame. Since the blockbuster event was already so packed with heroes, perhaps it was for the best that Marvel didn't try to integrate its many TV fan-favorites into the mix. Despite Agents of SHIELD's many references to the MCU, Marvel Studios has yet to reference any characters or events from the seven-season epic, leading some to justifiably call its canon status into question. But with the series having just recently made the jump to Disney+, speculation is rife that the SHIELD team could be in for a comeback in the near future. "Well, I had my phone turned off as it happened, so I didn't hear anything," he said. "It wasn't until the next morning when I woke up and looked at my phone and found that I had been bombarded with responses and that my PR people had sent me reactions that they had detailed and passed onto me… I actually didn't recognize my own voice, it sounded different. Whether I had a cold or something at the time, I don't know. But I was astonished, and all they saw was the back of my shoulder, and I think my earlobe, nothing else. There would have been so many connections made. But, uh, it pleased me." Marvel Animation Age (MAA): First off, what do you think makes the X-Men such an appealing property to animate? Will Meugniot (WM): It's all about the characters. X-Men in almost every incarnation has enjoyed a great blend of likable, unique heroes. Plus the subtext of young people who are finding themselves is of great appeal. MAA: How do you think all three X-Men shows compare in terms of animation, storytelling and X-team line-up? Which one do think has the leg up over the others? WM: In terms of animation, I'd have to go with Boyd Kirkland's X-Men: Evolution series, though I always liked the pilot's Toei animation as well. As for character line up, the Fox Kids version is my favorite. All three of them have strengths and weaknesses, but on the whole, admitting that I'm biased, the Fox X-Men is my favorite. MAA: With which X-Men show were you the most comfortable working on? Which one gave you more opportunity to flex your muscle? WM: The Fox Kid's was the most satisfying to me, and the one which allowed me the most creative control. MAA: Of all the many different Marvel Comics-based shows you have worked on, which was your favorite? WM: Undoubtedly the Fox X-Men. Both for the show and the people I got to work with on it. Larry Houston, Eric Lewald, Rick Hoberg, the Edens Brothers and Sidney Iwanter have all proven to be life-long friends and collaborators. MAA: To go off-topic for a moment, you worked on the unaired Captain America cartoon. Why was the show never finished? How much work was actually done on the show? You mention casting on your site, scripts and a promo film. When was the show originally intended to air, and who was involved? WM: For anybody who wants to really understand what was going on with Marvel during that period and why all their animated shows stopped production, I'd recommend reading Comic Wars: How Two Tycoons Battled Over the Marvel Comics Empire--And Both Lost by Dan Raviv. MAA: To wrap this up, and given that this will be featured on the X-Men: The Animated Series site, do you have any favorite moments - both off and on the screen - concerning this classic series? WM: The evening before the premiere of the first episode on Fox Kids, I'd been to Toys R Us and they had mounds of those sorry looking X-Men Bendies and early action figures which were not as nice as their later versions. A few hours after the show aired, I re-visited the store and to my shock, found they only had a single X-Men toy left, a Wolverine Bendie with a chewed up backing card. Thats when I knew the show would be a hit. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/x-men-animated-series-story-90s-cartoon-hit-1052263/ Will Meugniot, artist/producer: Larry had presented a version of it that was amazing and wonderful and in some ways better than what we wound up with. Because Larry was such a solid fan of X-Men and he knew the show was going to run 65 episodes and eventually everybody was going to show up in it, he put everybody in the title. Fox freaked out. They were already worried we had too many characters in the show. Meugniot: Sidney Iwanter, our Fox supervisor on the show, phoned me and said, “what can we do about this?” [The opening two scenes] We discussed it and we both agreed that Larry had done a great job, we just needed to save what we could. While we were talking, I did thumbnails of the individual character introduction shots. Larry already had the one of Wolverine where he's slashing a Sentinel and sitting on top of a pile of rubble. I built out from that and worked out rough staging from the individual shots. Meugniot: We thought we'd have the logos fly in so everyone would get an intro. In the end, we ended up using about 80 percent of Larry's stuff. It was just that I was on the phone with Sydney, I did thumbnails and charts of where we'd use the existing stuff Larry had done, where he put in character specific shots and logo flybys. When I gave it to Larry, he totally got it and we were done. Meugniot: Our show demonstrated that the Marvel universe, as a whole, had commercial value far beyond what anybody estimated. X-Men was getting primetime numbers on Saturday morning. In our time slot, we were doing business nobody had done since the ‘70s. Fox had this 1, 2, 3 in ratings. Batman as a daily show lit the fuse for them. They hadn't been doing very well as a network until they got Batman and Animaniacs and those shows. Then X-Men kind of kicked it to the next level, by giving them a big, solid weekend show. Meugniot: There was merchandise threat that almost shut down the production. They had made a deal with a fast food franchise to do some X-Men giveaway toys in Australia. And whoever had negotiated the deal had promised the Australian food franchisee that those toys would appear in the show. They were some of the most God awful designs possible. So I said no, and the situation festered for a few days. At home one night I got a call from Jim Graziano, who was the head of Graz, the production company I was working for. Jim just said, “Look, Marvel is threatening to pull the show from us if you don't cave on this.” He goes, “If you think it's important, we'll back you. But think very carefully, because there will probably be consequences.” I said, “We can't cave on this, or we are going to have to cave on everything.” And Jim backed me and it was a really tense few days and we prevailed. Meugniot: What I think people don't understand is X-Men wasn't canceled. It had actually been scheduled to be 65 episodes and had been extended past the original order. When it was done, it was like “well, contract fulfilled. We did it.” X-MEN ANIMATED SERIES 25th ANNIVERSARY PANEL https://youtu.be/mu8_WOEnV8g?t=390 Previously on X-Men: The Making of an Animated Series By Eric Lewald https://smile.amazon.com/Previously-X-Men-Animated-Eric-Lewald-ebook/dp/B077XLWMK6/ PREVIOUSLY ON LEGENDS OF S.H.I.E.L.D…. In particular, X-Men fans were abuzz over the scene that seemingly included the voice of Patrick Stewart returning in this role as Professor X from the X-Men movies. Stewart currently stars in Star Trek: Picard on Paramount+. While discussing the second season of his return as Jean-Luc Picard with ComicBook.com, he also commented on the apparent use of his voice in the Doctor Strange trailer. According to Stewart, that's all that it was, someone else using his voice, which he's experienced over the entirety of his storied career. "You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago," Stewart said of the trailer. "So, I can't be held responsible for that." Was that someone imitating Stewart's voice in the Doctor Strange trailer? Or is this an evolution of the Andrew Garfield press playbook? That strategy saw The Amazing Spider-Man actor pointedly denying his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home until the movie opened. Professor X's presumed appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness recasts the character as part of the shadowy Marvel organization called The Illuminati. Rumors have circulated about his return for some time. Previous to that, he admitted that he'd discussed reprising his role as Professor X with Kevin Feige. Ultimately he felt that Logan put too perfect an ending on the character's story to tarnish. "Here's the problem... If we had not made Logan, then yes, I would probably be ready to get into that wheelchair one more time and be Charles Xavier," Stewart said. "But Logan changed all that. Here's a tiny anecdote. The first time that Hugh [Jackman] and I saw the film in public was at the Berlin Film Festival, which is where the movie premiered. Shortly after Xavier's death scene, I found myself getting very emotional, but I had to keep a hold of myself because we were sitting in the middle of this cinema. And then I saw Hugh's hand come up to his eye and wipe away a tear. I thought, 'Dammit, the bugger's crying. Oh, let it out, Patrick.'" What did you do? How did you how did you end up in the entertainment business? Iwanter: I slept with all the wrong people. What happened was I went out to UCLA Film School. I got accepted to, I got accepted there. But I didn't like it. In fact, I basically dropped out after maybe a year, year and a half. Why? Because academically, it was the pits. Doney: Do you want a water? Iwanter: Oh, no. Thank you. I had… Tortorice: Especially when compared to UW, right? Iwanter: Yeah. No, I'm I'm being serious about that. I had my major professor and film was Russell Merritt. Tortorice: Fantastic teacher. Iwanter: PhD from Harvard in Comp Lit. And he used to say to me, He's now Berkeley, he's Berkeley emeritus now. He used to say to me, You don't study film. As. Unless, you don't study film, as film, it's part of an interdisciplinary study. So in other words, if you're going to study film, you study it through English Lit, French Lit, History, Comp Lit, you know, economics. It doesn't make any difference. But it's not. Film is an art form, but it also is as an art form. You, if, if you're studying Renaissance artists, you have to study Italian, you have to study the history. You have to know what's going on at, in Florence and Venice and Rome at the time. Okay. The teachers at UCLA at that time and maybe still there. All they did was study film. But they studied film as if it were in a vacuum. They might as well have just been reading Daily Variety. I hated it, hated it with a passion. There was no intellectualism. There was, it was, it was like a wasteland. And I was really pissed because I had also gotten accepted to NYU. And, you know, and but I couldn't afford NYU. And I could afford UCLA only because if you stayed there for a year, you'd become a California resident. 01:02:59 And so I basically dropped out after about a year, year and a half. And I thought to myself, should I go back to Madison? No, because I don't want my mother telling me. “Well, I told you so,” honest to God. So I stayed out in Los Angeles and I, weaseled my way into a job. My girlfriend, who I met here in Madison, we went out together to Los Angeles. And so she had gotten a job at J. Walter Thompson. And one day she says to me, Sidney, there's a job. I hear from a friend who's working at a TV station, Channel 9 (KHJ-TV), which was General Tire at the time, which is now owned by Disney. The station the there's a job available there as a teletypist, you can type. And maybe you can go get the job and get off your ass. I says okay. And I, I went there, I got the job. And the reason I got the job was that the person who had promised she wanted it had gone elsewhere and they just needed somebody. And so I actually had to take a typing test. And so and I had prior to that, I worked at the phone company for 18 months as a teletypist. So I was really quick at this. So I got the job at Channel 9 and I got it through a woman named Shelby Conti, whose husband was a struggling composer named Bill [William] Conti, who was the guy from Rocky eventually, you know, an Oscar winner, you know, and so on, and then but he's Bill Conti anyway. So that job led to a, because I like to talk to people. That job led to another job at Paramount Pictures Television, which was right across the street, which in research again, as a typist, which led to a job at Hanna-Barbera in 1979. I'm encapsulating all of this because there are all kinds of weird stories that go along with this stuff. A lot of one of them, I got the job working at Hanna-Barbera through drugs, but not I wasn't taking them, but the person who hired me was and this God as my witness that you know, and she got fired from Hanna-Barbera because she came out of the ladies room with a milk sign, but got milk. Well, it wasn't milk. So they fired her. They says, you can't be taking coke. You work for Hanna-Barbera! You know, we do Scooby Doo. 01:06:00 What are you talking? And you know. Okay. Anyway, so and the but I had been doing some freelance work for Hanna-Barbera while I was at Paramount. And then I got fired because she had hired me, six weeks later. I say, man, I, I gotta I gotta get this this job, you know, because I'm losing too much money playing the horses at Santa Anita and Hollywood Park. That's what, I used to do that to make I used to make extra money, you know, trying to play the ponies as well as, you know, poker because they were poker parlors back then. I was a real reprobate. I had just, you know, I would have probably ended up as something straight out of Guys and Dolls if I hadn't gotten this job. So I, I called, I called up to get my Hanna-Barbera job back, which was just a freelance job. And the person who answered the phone was the person who had just, had replaced the woman who had a coke problem, because she answered the phone because her secretary was in the bathroom. And one thing led to another. And this woman hired me. And this woman became my like my Rabbi in a way, she hired me and fired me three separate times, all for insubordination over the years, different jobs. And so she hired me at Hanna-Barbera. She hired me ten years later at Marvel Entertainment. And then a year after that at Fox Kids, where I became, everybody got to know me because of the shows I worked on, like in animation like X-Men and Batman and Beetlejuice and Spider-Man and Silver Surfer and Goosebumps. And so I mean, you know, and that's basically, you know, Tortorice: So you kind of fell into it, it sounds like. Iwanter: Yeah. Oh, yeah. I fell into it because, and a lot of people fall into it. Tortorice: Right. Iwanter: Because those of us who didn't, you know, when I went to UCLA, I didn't want to become a production person. I think I wanted to, I wanted to be Harvey Goldberg or George Mosse and I knew I couldn't because I don't I don't speak like that, you know, and so and I just ramble on and I just, you know, my, my stories, most of them are, you know, except the ones I tell you, you know, that there's a lot of tall tale-isms about it, you know, that sort of stuff. But, but yeah, you do. I fell into it like a lot of people. And I've spent 40 years in kids programming. Tortorice: What are you most proud of in terms of your work in kids programming? Iwanter: The X-Men, the X-Men show. Because they still talk about it today. 01:09:00 Because this, what this show did, this is animation from, it basically revived the Marvel Universe. It proved you could do this. [Bryan] Singer, the, the, the Director of the first X-Men movie, never read a comic book. He said, I only watched the series to get my, you know, to, to understand that world. And I was the network executive on that show, which meant that everything passed by my desk. All concepts, all scripts, all storyboards, all the, all the, you know, the, the pre-, the post-production. I was there with the editors and all this other stuff. And to this day it's probably the most sophisticated storytelling. For a children's. I don't know if you've ever watched it? Doney: Yeah, I have. Iwanter: And, you know, it is, the animation might have sucked, but those stories, man, they were, they were multi-leveled. There was, there was, there, were, there was a character Beast who would always quote Voltaire and Shakespeare. I mean, you know, I got away with murder on this, because it was my show and nobody could touch it. And I did stuff that had never been done before in, you know, for kids programming. And yeah, I made, I made those kinds of references. And it's, that sort of stuff has been lost today because the people who make these decisions are stupid and they don't believe that kids are smart enough. And even though you know, you've got, you've got the six-month-olds with their computers in front of them and you know. But so yeah, that I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm also proud of surviving, you know, because it's not it was not an easy business. And because you're always fighting for tenure and that's your only as good as your, as you're not good at all. No matter forget about what you just did. What are you gonna do for me now type of thing. So yeah. The good people over at The Cosmic Circus reported that the working title for Echo was Whole Branzino and while that was indeed the working title, Marvel Studios likes to have multiple working titles for their projects and they tend to shift over time. As of right now, Grasshopper is the title they're working with and I expect it'll stick until filming begins. Brie Larson said that the strides made to get into superhero shape for her role as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe exceeded her own expectations. "I affectionately called myself 'an introvert with asthma' before I got to play Carol Danvers and I started training first out of sheer panic, because I thought, 'Oh my gosh, Marvel doesn't know that I don't even know how to walk up a hill without being out of breath,'" Larson told Insider. She continued: "So, I started this journey thinking I'll get strong and I had no idea. I went far beyond what I ever believed was possible for my body." Larson's casting as Captain Marvel was officially announced back in July 2016 as part of Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Like other stars who have joined the MCU, the Oscar-winning actress trained hard in the lead-up to her debut. She chronicles her fitness milestones — like pushing a nearly 5,000 pound Jeep while her trainer, Jason Walsh, was inside — on Twitter, Instagram, and her YouTube channel and has continued to give fans insight into her exercise routines. "Being able to hip thrust 400 pounds, deadlift 200 pounds, push my trainer's Jeep, I mean, it's an incredible experience to realize what's inside of you is well beyond what you knew was possible," Larson said. "And I have Carol to thank for that." "That's part of why it's no surprise to me that this character has been able to reverberate outward, because she first and foremost changed my life," she added. "So it makes sense to me that she could change other lives too." Larson made her first appearance as the superhero in 2019's "Captain Marvel" and reprised the role later that year for "Avengers: Endgame." Most recently, she appeared in the mid-credits scene for "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings." Larson will return for a "Captain Marvel" sequel called "The Marvels," currently set for release on February 17, 2023. The actress couldn't share too many details about the standalone sequel but told Insider that she spent "many months" training. Larson said that it's difficult to pinpoint exactly how much time she dedicated to workout specifically for "The Marvels" because she doesn't stop training anymore. Instead, fitness has become an ongoing, "huge part" of her regular routine. Still, the actress said that her training for the upcoming film "definitely pushed me further" because she had "different goals" this time around. "I wasn't gonna try to break my deadlifting record or hip thrust record," Larson explained. "To me, it felt like I had done that. I wanted to focus on new challenges." Just as Carol's powers have been evolving throughout her time in the MCU, so have Larson's real-life capabilities. "In the first film she's developing that strength, and so I was developing my own personal strength with this one," the actress said. "She's already got more mastery over her powers. She can fly now. And so having my body more limber, more ready for these types of movements like wirework, which I didn't have to do as much on the first one, was the main goal." Larson, who's promoting her multi-year partnership with Nissan and the brand's 2022 Super Bowl ad, said that she primarily focused on being able to execute everything required of her, making sure that "my body was just a tool, a machine that could be thrown into whatever." The "Unicorn Store" star said that her "main goal" was to be able to do a one-arm pull-up. Within a few months of practicing, she was able to perform it on her left and right arms. Then she set a new goal — a one-arm push-up — and "sure enough," she got the hang of it. "I just started to get kind of obsessed with it," Larson said. "When people say like, 'Oh, girls can't do that,' it just makes me wanna do it even more. So there were huge accomplishments this time and I just feel like my body's just getting more and more used to this and more and more excited. Now, it feels weird to not train. I look forward to it." DISNEY+ 'She-Hulk' Director Kat Coiro Reveals How She Got Marvel Job and Teases Disney+ Series https://collider.com/she-hulk-tv-series-director-kat-coiro-comments-disney-plus/ Information about She-Hulk, one of the most hotly anticipated Disney+ shows to release this year out of a stacked Marvel slate, has been hard to come by. Since it was first confirmed back in 2019, we've had a trickle of casting news — Jameela Jamil finally confirming her long-rumored villain role in June last year, with Tim Roth mentioning his return as Abomination a number of times — and, back in September 2020, Kat Coiro was attached to direct. Collider's Christina Radish spoke to Coiro ahead of her fourth movie, the J-Lo led Marry Me, and of course, couldn't turn up the opportunity to dig for some She-Hulk news. First of all: how did Coiro land the job, and what is the secret to landing such a high-profile gig as one in the MCU? "It was a huge and involved process," the director told us, noting that she was already a giant fan of the She-Hulk comic book series and went all-out trying to land the gig when she found out the show was being made. In her words: "I'm a huge fan of the MCU, and I was actually a giant fan of the She-Hulk comics, so when I heard they were making it, I went full court press and really sold myself as the person to bring this story to life. It was a huge and involved process. Marvel is one of the most collaborative environments in the world. Even though he's producing so many things, Kevin [Feige], and Lou [D'Esposito] and Victoria [Alonso] and Brad [Winderbaum], have such a hand in everything. The process was really about getting on the same page and making sure that we were like-minded. It's never about anybody's ego. It's about bringing these stories to life. It was a long process, but those processes to get a job become very easy when you're really passionate about the material, which I was in the case of that one." "I can't say very much about the show, but I'm really happy with it. Part of what I appreciate about the MCU is that it's an ever-expanding universe. It's almost like an organic being that really responds to what's going on in the culture and really listens to its fans. I will say that I think there's a real connectedness to the people who love the MCU and listening to what they want, and I hope we satisfy the fans." ‘She-Hulk' Director Kat Coiro Teases Bringing a Mix of Humor and Heart to the Marvel Universe (Video) https://www.thewrap.com/she-hulk-mcu-series-comedy-tone-kat-coiro-interview/ “I never choose a project based on genre. And I actually don't think very much about genre, I think about character,” Coiro explained to TheWrap during the press day for her upcoming film “Marry Me,” which opens in theaters and on Peacock later this week. “And I think about the emotional lives of the characters and, you know, can I bring something? Can I bring a mix of humor and heart to this? Because that is what I love to watch. And it's what I love to work with. And so when I stepped into, you know, the Marvel playground — the cool thing about Marvel is that it is an ever-evolving universe and you have straight dramas, and you have very comedic films, and we are in that world where we're definitely playing with a more comedic world, but it also is still part of Marvel land.” X-Men '97 Producers Reveal Intel on X-Men: The Animated Series Revival https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/amp/news/x-men-97-details-consulting-producers-julia-eric-lewald-x-men-animated-series-marvel-disney-plus/ Note: this article spoils the end of Season 5 The X-Men aren't the only team returning in Marvel Studios' X-Men '97. Husband and wife team Eric and Julia Lewald, two of the creators behind the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series, join original series director Larry Houston as consulting producers on the animated revival ordered at Disney+. The continuation faithfully recreates the style of X-Men: The Animated Series and brings back many of the original cast members, including Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast), Alison Sealy-Smith (Storm), Chris Potter (Gambit), Catherine Disher (Jean Grey), Adrian Hough (Nightcrawler), and Christopher Britton (Minister Sinister). X-Men '97 is rumored to be 10 episodes and possibly streaming on Disney+ in 2023. ‘Ironheart': Anthony Ramos Lands New Secret Role In Upcoming Marvel Series https://deadline.com/2022/02/ironheart-anthony-ramos-marvel-series-1234929548/#recipient_hashed=a5f3f1bf6ce5c428ba6c8408620c6c38d7f27f4c366c84aa1d913bc1a3ffc188 In the Heights star Anthony Ramos looks to have entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe as sources tell Deadline that he is set for a key role in Marvel's Ironheart series for Disney+. Ironheart will star Dominique Thorne as Marvel character Riri Williams, a genius inventor and creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man. Chinaka Hodge was recently tapped as head writer on the series, first announced as being in development during Disney's investor-day presentation in December 2020. While details behind the Ramos role are unknown, sources say it will be similar to how Jonathan Majors was introduced as Kang the Conqueror in Loki, where he is expected to not only have a big role in this series but in future Marvel projects as well. While a premiere date for the series is still TBD, insiders have told Deadline that Riri Williams is expected to make her debut in the MCU in the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which bows in November. Yes, the characters were just like that in the comics, at the time. I can imagine how disorienting it is for someone who only knows the characters from films or even in their current form, but this is how they were written then. In July 1997, Loesch was appointed vice chair of Fox Kids Worldwide, to be in charge of the Fox Kids Network, Saban Entertainment and International Family Entertainment, acquired by News Corporation earlier in the year. Loesch was given the responsibility of developing long-term strategy and opportunities for Fox Kids Worldwide. Prior to the new appointment, Loesch was responsible not just for the Fox Network--which was the highest-rated children's programming block in broadcasting--but also for the Fox Kids Club, the Fox magazines for kids and the weekly radio program, Fox Kids Countdown. She began her career in TV at ABC in 1971, working her way up through a succession of program-related positions until 1974, when she bolted to NBC to supervise the Saturday morning line-up of children's programming. Loesch left NBC to join Hanna-Barbera as vice president of children's programming in 1979 where she took hold of a property called "The Smurfs," that would become the hottest kids ticket of the early 80s and put NBC in the Saturday morning driver's seat. In 1984, she accepted the position of president and CEO of Marvel Productions, where she was responsible for the execution of such programs as "Jim Henson's Muppet Babies," "Dungeons and Dragons," "GI Joe" and "Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock" and shared in four Emmy awards for her efforts. It was a surprise to few in the animation and kids programming world when Loesch was named by Fox to create a network for the ages 2-12 demographic in 1990. She developed the Fox Network as a service for the affiliates providing both weekday and Saturday morning programming. Among the efforts was the "Batman" animated franchise. Loesch has also expanded the Fox Network to Latin America and Australia. Following the merger of Fox Kids Network with Saban in November 1997, Loesch resigned her post. In February 1998, it was announced that she had accepted the position of president of the newly created Jim Henson TV Group, with responsibilities to head worldwide TV operations and with the mandate to create a new general entertainment cable channel. Soon after the network relaunch under the name Hallmark Channel, Loesch resigned because she "achieved all of my goals, and now I'm exhausted" and she hoped to spend more time with her family. From: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/x-men-animated-series-story-90s-cartoon-hit-1052263/ TV executive Margaret Loesch had long championed the idea that there was TV gold to be made with Marvel, and she'd spent years pitching shows to the networks. Loesch was particularly taken with the X-Men, the ragtag team of mutants led by Prof. Charles Xavier, who taught them to deal with their mutant powers, all the while protecting a public who feared and even hated them. She oversaw a failed pilot, 1989's Pryde of the X-Men, (featuring, of all things, a Wolverine with an Australian accent) and vowed not to make the same mistakes again. When Loesch started her role as Fox Kids CEO in 1990, she convinced Fox head Jamie Kellner to let her greenlight an X-Men show, staking her career on its success. She brought in Haim Saban of Saban Entertainment and production company Graz for the show. Scarlett Johansson Received a Second Massive Payout for Pandemic Release Restructuring https://www.cbr.com/scarlett-johansson-sing-2-streaming-pandemic-payout/ Marvel Cinematic Universe star Scarlett Johansson received a massive second payout as a result of the release restructuring caused by the pandemic. According to Puck, Johansson was one of several actors who were handed "mid seven-figure checks" by NBC Universal as a buyout of their box office bonuses. NBC Universal had opted to make films available for streaming 17 days after release in theaters as a compromise during the pandemic. The same was given to Johansson's co-stars, Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon. The exact figure is unknown. It's worth noting that Universal's deal with theaters allowed for release on streaming services for films that opened to less than $50 million. Meaning the buyout was arguably unnecessary. ‘Sing 2' and the Art of Franchise Survivalism https://puck.news/sing-2-and-the-art-of-franchise-survivalism/ From Puck.news: “NBC Universal C.E.O. Jeff Shell and film chief Donna Langley decided to keep the theatrical exclusive, then drop the film on premium video on demand 17 days after its release, for a higher-than-normal $25 rental charge. That strategy would potentially kneecap the box office of a film whose 2016 predecessor grossed $634 million worldwide, though films available at home recently have held up O.K. in theaters. I'm told it also meant cutting mid seven-figure checks to the voices of those farm animals—Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon and Scarlett Johansson, with smaller payouts for the rest of the main cast—to buy out a big chunk of their box office bonuses.” DISNEY+ Gugu Mbatha-Raw Confirms Return for ‘Loki' Season 2 ‘Loki' Season 2 Eyeing a Summer Production Start https://www.murphysmultiverse.com/gugu-mbatha-raw-confirms-return-for-loki-season-2/ https://www.murphysmultiverse.com/loki-season-2-eyeing-a-summer-production-start/ Production on the second season of Marvel Studios' Loki series is reported to begin this summer at Pinewood Studios, and it appears one of the first seasons' biggest stars will be there when it happens. Disney+ has just made a change to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's timeline on its streaming service. Previously, the service's "Marvel Cinematic Universe in Timeline Order" option chronologically placed 2018's Black Panther prior to 2021's Black Widow. However, Disney+ has recently reversed the sequence of the two films and now placed Black Widow first. Both movies take place in the aftermath of 2016's Captain America: Civil War, which saw the alliance of the MCU heroes fractured as its members found themselves on opposing sides of the Sokovia Accords, intended to regulate the activities of superpowered individuals. Both Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow and T'Challa/Black Panther allied themselves with Tony Stark/Iron Man, in support of the accords. Natasha, however, later switched sides in the film, subsequently finding herself on the run after the accords have become law While both stem from Civil War, the stories of Black Panther and Black Widow are largely independent of one another, and arguably could even take place concurrently. However, the juxtaposition of the two films in the MCU timeline by Disney+ implies an intended chronological order -- one that had apparently been shown incorrectly on the streaming service until recently. The timeline sequence as currently seen on the streaming service begins with 2011's Captain America: The First Avenger -- taking place starting in 1941 -- and ends with the recent Hawkeye streaming series -- taking place five years after The Blip, in 2024. The MCU timeline is comprised of 27 films and five Disney+ original streaming shows. The chronological sequencing isn't exact, however, as not all the movies are fully contained within the time frame they're placed in. The epilogue to The First Avenger, for instance, features Steve Rogers/Captain America waking up in present day after decades in suspended animation. And the recent Eternals, while mostly taking place in the present, opens in 5000 BC. Prior to Civil War, and with the exception of The First Avenger, the MCU timeline essentially paralleled the films' real-time release schedule. However, 2019's Captain Marvel took place in 1995, the events of the subsequent Avengers: Endgame jumped ahead five years, and the expansion of the MCU with the Disney+ streaming series have all made tracking what takes place when more of a challenge. The chronological ordering of the various entries on Disney+ can be interpreted as the definitive sequencing of the dozens of stories making up the continuity of the MCU. Power Stone Timeline https://www.instagram.com/p/CY_-7tQIgSr/ DISNEY+ Disney+'s MCU Hub Adds Every Marvel One-Shot https://www.cbr.com/disney-plus-mcu-marvel-one-shots-all Every Marvel One-Shot is now available on Disney+ after several shorts were added to the streaming service, including Agent Carter and The Consultant. Every Marvel One-Shot is now available on Disney+. After several of the shorts were added to the Marvel hub on Disney+, the streaming service now has every Marvel One-Shot available to view. Originally released as DVD extras, primarily during Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the one-shots include Agent Carter (2013), Team Thor Parts 1 and 2 (2017), Team Darryl (2018), Item 47 (2012), The Consultant (2011) and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer (2011). Both the Item 47 and Agent Carter one-shots ultimately led to the creation of both Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter, starring Hayley Atwell, as Marvel Television series. The Consultant stars Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and serves as an explainer for a continuity error that occurred in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, where Robert Downy Jr.'s Tony Stark is shown as the one who first presented the idea of the Avengers. Gregg also stars in A Funny Thing... where he is shown foiling a gas station robbery while driving to New Mexico to locate Mjolnir. The Team Thor shorts appeared as extras on the Doctor Strange Blu-ray, which depicted what Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder was doing in his absence during Captain America: Civil War. The follow-up, Team Darryl, appeared on the Blu-ray for Thor: Ragnorok and featured Jeff Goldblum. Among the one-shots is All Hail the King, written and directed by Iron Man 3 (2013) co-writer Drew Pearce, which was added early last year as essential viewing ahead of the release of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The short sees Trevor Slattery (Sir Ben Kingsley) in prison following the events of the third Iron Man film, but is then taken captive by the Ten Rings organization for impersonating their leader, later revealed to be Wenwu (Tony Leung) in Shang-Chi. While All Hail the King is not a new addition, Agent Carter returns after being removed from Disney+ entirely in September 2021. The short was also included as an extra for Iron Man 3, and would lead to a series of the same name starring Atwell's Peggy Carter. At the time, a reason for its removal from the streaming service was not provided. Marvel Studios hasn't produced a Marvel One-Shot since Team Darryl, though co-president Louis D'Esposito said in 2018 that Disney wants more one-shots from Marvel, but timing is a major issue. "We're just so busy," he said at the time. "Disney wants us to do it, we want to do it, and I keep telling them, 'I'll do it on the next film,' but I keep breaking my promise." For now, all seven Marvel One-Shots are available on Disney+. Marvel's Secret Invasion Is Reportedly Almost Finished Filming https://www.cbr.com/marvel-secret-invasion-done-filming-report/ Production continues to progress on Marvel's Secret Invasion, as the upcoming miniseries is nearly finished filming, according to one report. The Secret Invasion is coming, as production on Marvel's upcoming Secret Invasion miniseries continues to move forward, with one report claiming filming on the show is close to finished. Although Marvel Studios has yet to confirm exactly how far along filming on Secret Invasion currently is, one industry insider believes that stage of the show's production is almost ready to wrap. "Secret Invasion is almost done filming," insider Charles Murphy tweeted. Though Murphy didn't provide any further details, if his report is accurate, it would appear likely that Secret Invasion will be able to meet its targeted premiere on a yet-to-be-announced date later this year. https://twitter.com/_CharlesMurphy/status/1484540458768510978 Secret Invasion is currently filming in Halifax, England under the working title, "Jambalaya," with Marvel Studios securing access to the town's Piece Hall between Jan. 24 and 31. While the working title is intended to be secretive, fans were able to glean some details about the show when behind-the-scenes images and clips of the production made their way online. The glimpse indicated at least one scene will take place in Russia, as signs for the real-life holiday "National Unity Day" written in Russian were spotted on set. Staying true to its namesake, not many details are currently known about Secret Invasion, yet fans were able to speculate about the appearance of a certain alien race when the series' revealed its official logo late last year. Though Marvel already confirmed the series will follow the invasion of Earth by the shape-shifting Skrulls, the inclusion of a green and purple color scheme has some fans speculating if the colors on the logo could also suggest an appearance by the Phalanx, a largely unknown villain from the X-Men comics. The six-episode Secret Invasion miniseries currently lacks a release date, though it is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ sometime later this year. Either way, we will keep an eye on the situation and report if there are further developments. From TheDirect.com: The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in the age of transformation as it welcomes new heroes and villains into the fold. While Phase 4 has already shifted its release dates several times due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many would agree that the anticipation for these projects is still high, especially after the impressive run of Disney+ shows like WandaVision, Loki, and Hawkeye. As the MCU welcomes a new calendar year, this development also means that fresh projects are on the horizon for fans to watch. Phase 4 has changed significantly ever since its original announcement during San Diego Comic-Con 2019. Despite a quiet 2020, Marvel Studios still managed to deliver a new wave of content in 2021, such as its big-screen offerings like Black Widow and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Given the ever-changing situation of the current health crisis, it remains to be seen if the MCU's 2022 lineup will be altered once again. Now, a new update has emerged that could give fans a clearer picture of what to expect. No Secret Invasion & What If Season 2 in 2022? Marvel Japan updated Marvel Studios' 2022 slate on its official website by removing Secret Invasion and What If...? Season 2 from the list. As first reported by The Cosmic Circus, the original lineup included the two aforementioned projects alongside a plethora of movies and TV shows. Marvel Studios' updated lineup for 2022 can be seen below: Moon Knight (March 30, 2022) Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness (May 6, 2022) Thor: Love and Thunder (July 8, 2022) Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (November 11, 2022) She-Hulk (TBD) Marvel (TBD) I Am Groot (TBD) Marvel's Still Impressive 2022 Slate This latest update from Marvel Japan should serve as a guide for fans who are religiously following the MCU's Phase 4 slate. It remains to be seen if these changes will stick, but many would agree that seeing Secret Invasion and What If...? Season 2 in 2023 could be the best route to go. It's worth noting that this isn't the first time that an international Marvel branch openly revealed the franchise's ever-changing lineup. In October 2021, Marvel India's official Twitter account accidentally showcased Blade's original release date as October 7, 2022. Finding the right balance among many projects is vital, especially since Marvel Studios has an already-stacked slate. Keeping shows like Secret Invasion and What If...? off from its 2022 lineup could strike the right balance among the projects, thus placing the focus on new MCU leads, namely Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. At this stage, it's reasonable to assume that Secret Invasion and What If...? Season 2 could be slated for the first half of 2023. Given that Secret Invasion was rumored to be closely tied to The Marvels, it's possible that the Nick Fury-led show would premiere around January 2023 to boost anticipation for the Captain Marvel sequel's February 2023 release. As for What If...? Season 2, the animated series could be slated after The Marvels, potentially between April-June 2023. Whatever the case, many would agree that the MCU still has an impressive slate of projects in 2022 despite the absence of Secret Invasion and What If...?. In what we might've called a "shoe-drop issue"... had this series ever had the opportunity to find its own identity, rather than being background for various line-wide events - we find out who Henry Peter Gyrich of Orchis's MOLE inside S.W.O.R.D. is! The team heads to Pittsburgh to help Iron Man and Wonder Man fend off Inferno, a steelworker encased in molten metal kept alive by a chip of Uru metal and a desire for revenge. It's not nearly as thrilling as it sounds.
It's a two-issue fight with the Grey Gargoyle! Action! Conflict! A weird Senate hearing that puts Gyrich in his place! Yes, all the things you've come to love about the Avengers...
The Avengers "save" a Soviet nuclear power plant form the Elements of Doom, fight a World War 2 behemoth named Arsenal which is led by a computerized version of Tony Stark's mom, and then Hawkeye gets a job like the rest of us poor schlubs.
Happy New Year! Settle in and listen to this really long tale of how a crazy sorcerer, an elder demon god, a cow lady, a pink-armored scientist, and a band of gypsies all came together to raise Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. It'll warm your heart for the freezing hellscape of 2017...
Our Xtra special Xmas episode features a way too long battle with the Absorbing Man that shows us the origin of his costume, features Falcon being a jerk, and allows the Avengers to once again let the bad guy successfully escape. A job well done!
Gyrich returns to upgrade the security system and impose a government-mandated seven-member lineup, leaving Hawkeye, Wonder Man, and a bunch of other useful people out in the cold. Then the team gets a real test as they battle through some dime store mannequins to fight a gypsy pirate and some illusions inside an outer space hotel room and why am I still typing this?...
The Korvac Saga continues...very very slowly. Henry Peter Gyrich tells the team that their security sucks. Starhawk and Korvac battle across multiple planes of existence while standing in his den. And then we get a fill-in issue about a guy who wants the Avengers to kill him, but makes it really complicated.
