“Our society doesn't want to hear about how interdependent we are—doesn't want to hear that if we want to thrive, we have to put people first and we have to create community. And people need connection with others like they need oxygen. If you create a world where that connection isn't very available or it all happens on a screen, you are going to have huge problems. You are going to have huge problems with depression, anxiety, suicide, emptiness—people are going to make terrible choices.” (Sue Johnson)We need each other. We are relational beings, and our thriving—or languishing—often hinges on relationships. In this episode, psychologists Sue Johnson and Jim Furrow not only explain why relationships are so important, they offer practical advice on how to pursue healing, emotional regulation, and lasting thriving in all kinds of relationships.Sue Johnson is the creator of Emotionally Focused Therapy, the gold standard in tested, proven interventions of couples and author of many books including Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love. Jim Furrow is a marriage and family therapist and an internationally renowned trainer of Emotionally Focused Therapy. This conversation goes from profound to practical, covering the biological and psychological science to explain why belonging gives way to becoming. We discuss the rampant emptiness and loneliness, fear, and depression people today experience and the connection between relationships and a sense of meaning in life. Sue and Jim also provide a framework for how to understand your attachment style and the way it impacts your relational health. And they discuss the practical ways we can grow and change so that we can engage in and sustain fulfilling and life giving relationships. In this conversation with Sue Johnson & Jim Furrow, we discuss:What it means to be fully alive, in all the existential fullness that being human meansHow to bring together the spectrum of emotional realities with our lived experienceThe crisis of loneliness we face today, and what we can do about itThe role of empathy and caring in the healing processAn introduction to attachment science, the role of attachment figures in thriving relationshipsAnd the therapeutic and relational practices that lead to security, a sense of worth, empowerment, and competence in life.About Sue Johnson & Jim FurrowSue Johnson is the creator of Emotionally Focused Therapy and author of many books including Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love. I think that says it all. That's the most basic human interaction. Do you share my reality? Is my reality valid? Do you see what I see? Can you make sense of it? Can you help me make sense of it? And when they do that, they pull their partner towards them. They evoke empathy and caring. That's the only solution to human emotional pain that there really exists—s the empathy and caring of another. That is true in religion too. It's the empathy and caring of a God figure. That's about bonding. It's about sharing vulnerability.”“No one goes through vulnerability alone.”Belonging leads to becomingPam King's key takeaways:Being fully alive means finding coherence and connection with others. finding meaning in human and spiritual relationships.Relational bonding is built in to our genetic code. We're built for connection and made for relationships and we have to work at it.Relationships are powerful. They are capable of bringing sorrow and joy. To the extent that they're able to break us down, they're even more able to build us back up and bring us to healing.Longing for relationships is natural and normal. While loneliness can be so frightening, it does not need to be stigmatized. But it does need to be worked through.Often healing comes through the very wounds we're hurting with. We heal when we open up in vulnerability, when we seek transcendence and connection with others, and ultimately with a loving and caring God About the Thrive CenterLearn more at thethrivecenter.org.Follow us on Instagram @thrivecenterFollow us on X @thrivecenterFollow us on LinkedIn @thethrivecenter About Dr. Pam KingDr. Pam King is Executive Director the Thrive Center and is Peter L. Give.Serve.Love - Part 3: LoveWe all assume that we can behave and confess our way into a barrier-free relationship with God. If we sin against someone, we can just pray for God’s forgiveness and we’ll be back in his good graces. But what if God wants more from us than vertical morality? What if he cares about our horizontal relationships?Study Guide
A message to His church His bride. You have slept for too long.It is time to get up, to wake up to your call. Walking in the vacation which you been called. Just as Paul wrote in Eph 4:1-3, Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. 3 Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. How can our heavenly Father be working, and we as his bride are not aware of it. How can our heavenly Father be planning, and we as his bride are uninformed about His plans, His doing on this earth. How can we follow the pattern of this world. For we are unique, and our heavenly Father has made us blameless, Holy and perfectEph 5:26-27: to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God's word.[a] 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. (Eph 5:26-27).He has clothed us with HIS wedding dress, dress in His righteousness. An emblem of Christ Work which He did on the crossWe are sealed with His spirit. How soon did we forget that we are married to Him.Don`t we know that we have a husbandWhy are we bowing down to the Babylonian system. How can we? Don`t we see HIS blood He shared on that cross.Don`t we see the price HE paid for our penalty.Don`t we see whom HE has called us to be.Don`t we know that we have to be an example to others. We our Christ bride. We are the church and not the buildingWe are the a moving alter. His Present dwells in us.Let us raise up from our sleep and look at him and see his perfect work in us.Let us look at him and see how perfect we are in himwe are in Him and He in usJesus said in John 14:20: When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.We are one, one Spirit, one spirit, one spiritDon`t we see it.We shouldn`t look at the mirror and forget who we are.We are love first by Him, before we could love Him We are His, and He is oursHe is with us.We are all I care for He desires to speak to us dailyHe wants to partner with us, to do this work on this earth. We are His creation, created after his own image and in his likeness. Christ is in Love with us and because of that He died for us while we were still sinnersHe loves us even if we think we don`t deserve it.That is the definition of an unconditional LoveWe as His bride deserve all the best and that best is Him. He is our best We are his loveWe are my brideWe are my joyHE saw you first and loved us before we were formed in our mother's womb. We are his Bride and as a Bride, we are all about our husband`s business. His has called us to be unique, for we have been set apart from his World. Walk and talk as the bride of Christ. Let the whole world know that you are the bride of Christ.Let`s your light shine, so that your heavenly Father will be Glorified. Revelation 21:9-11Then one of the seven angels who held the seven bowls containing the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come with me! I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”10 So he took me in the Spirit[a] to a great, high mountain, and he showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God and sparkled like a precious stone—like jasper as clear as crystal. What a description of we as Christ Bride, the Bride of the Lamb.Believers, you are cloth with God`s Glory, sparkled like a precious stone, Like jasper as clear as crystal. Think about this description of how God sees you, as the bride of Christ. Let us walk, breath, live and talk as the bride of Christ which we are. So, say this after me.I am the bride of ChristI am His GloryI am His precious StoneI am clear as crystal --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/assumpta-widak/message

The British Invasion of the mid-60's is best known for The Beatles, but there were more groups than just the boys from Liverpool. In fact, just a month after The Beatles played on Ed Sullivan the Dave Clark Five would take that stage, the first of 12 appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show. The quintet consisted of Dave Clark on drums and backing vocals, Rick Huxley on bass, Mike Smith on vocals and keyboard, Lenny Davidson on lead guitar, and Dennis Payton on Sax, Harmonica, and vocals. The British Invasion was really a re-introduction of American music, as many of the British acts took inspiration from soul, gospel, and blues music from places like Chicago, Detroit, Memphis, and New Orleans. This re-introduction was accompanied by intriguing accents, strange fashion and hair styles, and a lot of energy and heart. The sixth American album release from the Dave Clark Five was entitled Having a Wild Weekend, and was the soundtrack to a movie of the same title. This film was originally released as "Catch Us If You Can," in the UK, but was renamed when it was released in the States. It is a light-hearted social drama similar to "A Hard Day's Night" released by the Beatles, and it likewise was used as a vehicle to increase the popularity of the band and their songs.Unlike the Beatles, the Dave Clark Five never ventured into the psychedelic sound of the late 60's, and their popularity began to wane by 1967. The group would disband in 1967.John Lynch brings us this classic group and soundtrack for this week's podcast. Having a Wild WeekendThis single was written by Dave Clark and Mike Smith, and is the lead-off and title track to the album. The premise of the album is that Dinah, a model for an add campaign for meat, runs off with one of the stunt men while shooting a TV commercial. The ad executives use their disappearance to generate more publicity for their client.New Kind of LoveWe're not really sure if this song is about a guy whose girlfriend cheats on him, or about a stalker who like a girl who has no idea that the guy thinks they're dating. I Said I Was SorryWhen the guy messes up in the relationship, he is left wondering why everything isn't OK now that he has said he was sorry. The lyrics at the time weren't meant to be studied too seriously, were they? At least he said he was sorry, because we would find out from Elton John years later that "sorry" seems to be the hardest word.Catch Us If You CanCo-written by Dave Clark and Lenny Davidson, this was the title song for the UK version of the album. It leads off side two, and was the hit single from the album, rising to number 4 on the US charts. The finger snapping and guitar leading into the song was a catchy hook. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Main theme from the television series “Gidget” The Frederick Kohner novels about a teenager in the surfing culture would lead to films of the late 50's, and a TV show that would begin in 1965 starring Sally Field. STAFF PICKS:Just a Little by The Beau BrummelsBruce's staff pick is one of the groups that is credited with creating the San Francisco sound. The Beau Brummels were Sal Valentino on vocals, Ron Elliott on lead guitar, Declan Mulligan on guitar, Ron Meagher on bass, and John Petersen on drums. This is off their debut album entitled "Introducing the Beau Brummels," which was produced by Sly Stallone The Train Kept a-Rollin' by Screaming Lord Sutch & the SavagesYou may be familiar with the Aerosmith version of this song, but Rob brings you an earlier version of the classic blues track originally recorded by Tiny Bradshow in 1951. Screaming Lord Sutch was known for his Halloween-themed stage shows, complete with knives and coffins, with the lead singer appearing as Jack the RIpper. The Game of Love by Wayne Fontana and the MindbendersWayne features a number 1 hit from the Billboard Hot 100. The group took its name from a British movie, and appeared in the 1967 Sidney Poitier film, "To Sir, with Love." The group broke up at the final concert of a UK tour with The Who, Arthur Brown, and Joe Coker on November 20, 1968.Count Me In by Gary Lewis and The PlayboysLynch closes out the staff picks with a group that was originally known as Gary & the Playboys, hiding the relationship that Gary had with his celebrity father, Jerry Lewis. They auditioned and were hired to play at Disneyland, and frequently played to full houses. The group suffered in live performances, because producer Snuff Garrett utilized session musicians heavily on their studio tracks, and the band could not duplicate their studio sound on the stage. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:Maiden Voyage by the Herbie HancockThis instrumental jazz piece that closes out the podcast shows the longevity of Herbie Hancock's career, and was the title track to his album of the same name.

Building Unity with LoveWe want the church to grow so that we can make a difference in the world around us. But churches not only need to grow in number. We need to grow in holiness. We need to grow in unity. That will show the world what our three-in-one God is like. God's grace, the hope He gives us in Jesus, generates this growth. There is one body, one church. Our Christian community should reflect that unity. We are like a symphony orchestra and God has given us beautiful music to play. If all the sections of an orchestra were fighting and competing with one another, the music wouldn't sound so good. But when we play together, we bless the world around us with the beautiful music God plays through us. We speak God's truth in love to draw people together to the hope in Jesus God gives us!Support the show~ Changing lives with Jesus! Facebook | YouTubeInstagram @dscsienna

Becoming a vehicle of unconditional love. The story of Sri Aurobindo and how he realized there are fake or sudo gurus and real spiritual masters. He investigated what were the things that made for a legitimate spiritual master vs a wanna be.He identified 4 powers:They always draw their power from unconditional love. They never do a healing or the work they do from their ego. They can turn a negative into a positive. They can create beyond the laws of physics. They create equanimity and harmony where ever they go. They have a balancing effect. They bring people into a sense of peace and calm. We all have these abilities! How you can integrate these abilities:We can all draw from unconditional loveWe can all turn a negative into a positive just by changing our mind and our orientation to it.We all create beyond the laws of physics everyday - in our dreams and in our visualizations. You are not bound by the laws of physics in your mind. We can also create a state of acceptance within ourselves, leads to becoming more present and more loving. The simple formula is Thought, word, deed (follow through)We can all create equanimity and harmony where ever we go just by being in that high vibrational state.Connect with Paul here:WebsitPurchase Finally Thriving Here! We're going to read Ephesians. It's really a beautiful book.Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, who at two to the saints, which are at the thesis and to the faithful in Christ Jesus. So that, so it's written to us, and it's written to the church of Emphasis Grace be to you and peace from God, our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.Whenever I read that, it's so, so comforting to me.We could gloss over it, but really what it is, it's like if you were with your mother and father and you were on the phone with your sister, you'd say, “Mommy and daddy said hi.”That's what this is:Grace be to you. And peace from God, our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with many spiritual blessings in heavenly places. So we are blessed with many spiritual blessings in heavenly places. If we aren't living that way, we're missing something.According as he has chosen us in him... He's chosen us.He's chosen us in Him before the foundations of the world. Before the world was even made, He chose you before the foundations of the world. That we should be holy and without blame before Him in loveWe should be holly without blame. Without blame. So that's a big deal. Do you know how many times we put ourselves down?Well, according to God, we're without blame before him in love.Having predestinated us.So he Predestinated us. He in his foreknowledge put us somewhere. He predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself according to the good pleasure of his will. This what we are his, according to his good pleasure. We're talking about God. To the praise of the glory of His grace, we are in.He has made us acceptable in the beloved. We are acceptable in the beloved, in His family. We're acceptable. He made us that way in whom we have redemption.Redemption! Redemption means you've been brought back, redeemed, brought with a price. You are probably too young to know about S and H Green stamps. You would go to certain grocery stores and certain gas stations and they would give you these green stamps and these books, and you would take these stamps, and depending on how much you purchased when you were at the store or the gas station, you would get a sheet of stamps and you would take these stamps ad to add them to the book.Well, at a certain point, whenever you got enough, you could redeem that book for certain things. If you had a little bit, you can get, I don't know, some groceries or something. If you had a lot, you can get a tv, you can get a radio, you could get a knife set.See you redeemed them. You'd say, Okay, here's this. I'm giving it to you. Now you give me that. And that's what we've been, we've been redeemed. Jesus said, Okay, I gave my life. Now you give me that (us)Who have we been redeemed from? From the devil. Because He's the God of this world.Until Jesus came to buy us back, God had to put his spirit on us.Now we can be children of God. We've been redeemed. We've been bought back. We are his!In whom we have redemption through his blood. The forgiveness of sins.Forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His graceDo you remember when Jesus was walking on this earth and he would say to somebody, who needed healing, rise up and walk and sin No more. Your, sins are forgiven.Well, that was blasphemous back then because only God could forgive sins. They used to have to do things that would cover sins for the year.Every year they had to do a ritual and, and have their sins covered. But they weren't gone. Jesus came and now our sins are gone.In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace, wherein he has abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence. With all wisdom and prudence having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he had purposed in himself. So this is all because He wanted to. That's it. That in the dispensation of the fullness of times. That means after time had gone by and certain things were fulfilled and the dispensation of the fullness of times…He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are in earth, even in Him in whom also we have obtained an inheritance being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who works all things after the council of his own will.So this is all according to God, God made this happen and all of that, we should be to the praise of His glory.Who first trusted in Christ. God, first trusted in Christ, in whom you also trusted.Because we're born again, we've decided, I'm going to believe in the Son of God.I'm gonna believe that Jesus Christ was the son of God. He was raised from the dead, in whom also we trusted. After that, we heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, the good news of your salvation, in whom also after that you believed you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise! The seal is a big deal. You know, like when a king would write a letter, he would take his insignia ring, his little stamp, he'd put it in wax and he would seal his message. We've been sealed. Now there's probably way more to it than that, but that's part of what that is, that we've been sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,Which is the earnest of our inheritance, until the redemption of the purchase possession unto the praise of his glory.Wherein I also, (this is Paul saying) I also, after I heard of your faith… so after he heard of the faith of the Ephesians, and now we are included in this because it said, this is written to “the Ephesians and to all of those who are in Christ Jesus who love God”, we love God.See in the beginning. It says “Grace to you, where it is, where is it pulling apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God to the saints were your thesis and to the faithful in Christ Jesus. So it's written to us too. We are in there.I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and love unto all the saints cease not to give thanks for you.So Paul was thankful, he was praying for you and for me. He didn't have to know us, to pray for us. Cease not to give thanks for you making mention of you in my prayers. And this was his prayer, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.So this was his prayer for us. We can take this verse and we can pray it over ourselves. We could say, Father, my father of glory, give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you. Now, the eyes of your understanding, being enlightened. So we could say,Father, I pray that the eyes of my understanding will be enlightened, that I may know what is the hope of Your calling.Father, I want to know the hope of your calling and what the riches of the glory of your, of his inheritance in the saints. We can continue to pray this prayer over us.Father, I want to know what is the riches of the glory of your, of my inheritance in the saints! And what is the exceeding greatness of his power! So this is continuing his prayer for us. What is the exceeding greatness of his power to us who believe according to the working of his mighty power. So we could say, God, I want to know the exceeding greatness of your power. To me, I want to know that.See, we as Christians are living in a way that is far below what God had planned for us.We should be living the way they lived in the Book of Acts when after Christ died and ascended where just Paul and Peter and John and so many of them did. Remember there were 70 that Jesus sent out. They were there! The apostles were people that, that Jesus chose. And then there, there were disciples and those disciples he sent out, they were healing as well.Once we became born again, once the Holy Spirit came and we got to be born again, we are now in the fold.Once that happened, we became new, new creatures. It said Jesus said, “Greater things will you do than me because I go to my Father.”We should be doing what Jesus did. We are living in a way that is just five senses. And there's all these clues, all these truths in the Bible that throughout time it's been so watered down that we beg him.Now when we pray, we beg him instead of just claiming it, accepting it. Thank you Father that I have this.We can claim these things that is prayed for us here. And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us who believe according to the working of his mighty power, power, talking about power here, which he brought in Christ when he raised him from the dead. This is mine because you've put this in Christ, You put this in my brother Jesus and He was raised from the dead and you set him at your own right hand in the heavenly places. Now my Lord, my savior that is in me Christ in you, it says the hope of glory. Now he is in me and he's sitting at my God's right hand, far above all principality and power. In verse 21, Far above all principality and power and might. What annoys me about most Christian churches is they say, “Oh, the devil's really after me this week.”Or, “Oh, I'm really getting hit by the devil.” That' should be never coming out of your mouth! The devil has no right over us. He only has the rights we give him.We can relinquish our rights, right? You can be a child of a very wealthy person and you could choose to just relinquish all those rights. You got a beautiful car, you got a beautiful home, and you have a bank account with plenty of money in it.You can say, Yeah, I have all of these things, but you know what, I don't want 'em. That's what we do.We don't understand our place in God, our place in the family.Look, it says, this is Jesus far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named. What is that? It's all the devils out there, all the devil spirits, everything that is evil. He's far above all of that, and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come. And He has put, listen to this, He has put all things under his feet, under Jesus' feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church which is his body, the fullness of him that fills all in all!I'm telling you, there is so much that we are missing and I feel like it's my mission to help people see what we're missing.I'm studying the book called it's “The Untethered Soul”. And now there's another one. And I'm reading that now. And I sincerely believe that God has been trying to get this to the Christian Church, but we weren't listening. And there happened to be this one man who now is 70 some-odd years old.He was a barefoot hippie years ago who decided that that voice in his head was always wrong and dictating everything that he did. He decided, I'm gonna try and experiment and I'm going to believe that everything is working for my good. And if I'm going to do anything based on my preference, I'm not going to go there, because what that voice says is always wrong.“Oh, what did you do that for?” “Why did you do that?”“I should never have done that.” “Oh, that's stupid.”“Oh no, you can't do that.”And so he decided, to test it out. Well, it's well over 20 years that he's done this experiment and oh boy has he learned a lot and I am learning so much. It's all the word of God. Because remember? The rainfalls on the just and the unjust. The same principles that will work for it, works for the saint and sinner alike. It isn't like, “Oh, well you're good. So now you get a blessing, you're bad. You don't get one.”We wanna walk in those principles we'll receive. The difference is when you have Jesus, there's there's healing. There's so much more, so much more for us because we go ahead with this, with Jesus, because it's all in The Word.Renew your mind, put off the old man. Put, put my kingdom first. And all these things will be added to you.Don't trust in yourself, trust in me. In Proverbs chapter three, don't look into your own understanding. What is that, that's that voice in our head that we are giving way too much credence to.There's a verse that says that “All good things happen for us because we love, love Christ Jesus.”We've been believing that there are too many negative things that are, oh, well that must be bad because no, nothing's bad for us. Nothing. If we'll only push past that b******t pain that tries to come in and navigate our lives and give it to God.God, I give that to you. It's really pretty incredible and I'm looking forward to just sharing it.I know that if you remember when I first started it, what I wanted to do was I wanted to say, Look, I've been seeking for 41 years seeking God.There's a verse that says he's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.And I've been doing that for 41 years and, you know, stepped in a lot of holes, had some amazing miracles and but still, I'm not living as they lived and I still have way too many hangups and too much anxiety. You know, something ain't right. And so what I've noticed is that a lot of the things that I've learned from reading, not the Bible, ties into the Bible. And because of that, I think I'm unique because most, or I don't know any Christians like pastors or whatever, will embrace anything other than the scriptures. And to me, that's just foolishness.Like I went for help for my alcoholic relationship that I had. I had a relationship with an alcoholic. And it affects your life big time. And for many, many years, many years I went to clergy, I went to pastors, I went to the Bible, I went to church, that's what I did because I believed, well I still believe that all answers lie in the word, but are there specialists out there that understand certain things that once we get those certain things, it snaps right into the word now, Now we've got the answers. It wasn't until I found Al-Anon that everything changed for me. If I would've known about Al-Anon all of those years ago, I probably wouldn't have even gotten divorced because I would've understood what was going on and I would've known, oh, this is how I behave with that.To be continued (Your giving will help me give someone who needs a job, a job to do the work of transcribing the podcasts) https://donorbox.org/what-does-god-say-to-you

We Act DifferentlyActs 16:22-28 “ The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten with rods. After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone's chains came loose. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. But Paul shouted, “Don't harm yourself! We are all here!”Paul and Silas were stripped and beaten for calling a demon out of a woman. You see, this demon used her to tell the future. Her owners made a great deal of money from her fortune telling and they weren't happy when Paul cast out this demon. Because of this they were stripped and beaten with rods. After that they were thrown in prison and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. He took this assignment very seriously so he took them into the inner cell and fastened their fee in the stocks. The next part of the verse is where it gets strange. It was not strange to get stripped or beaten back in those days. It was also not strange to get thrown in jail. If you did not follow the laws you got thrown in jail. But what came next was strange. The verse says, about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. I wasn't alive when this took place but I gotta think that was different. I don't know a single person who would decide to sing after being stripped and beaten with rods and then thrown into prison with my feet in the stocks. I can see the praying part. I might be praying for relief of my pain, maybe for some food, I might be praying for my freedom, and I might even being praying for revenge. I am thinking if I was just beaten I might not be feeling very good about the ones who sentenced me to this punishment. I may be asking God to hurt them, or to pay them back for all they did to me. I know this isn't the Christian thing to do, I am just trying to be honest about what I may or may not do if I were in this circumstance. What would you do? What would you do if you were just beaten and thrown into jail? Would you start singing? Would you be praying? What would you be praying for? The verse doesn't say what Paul and Silas were praying for and it doesn't say which hymns they were singing. When I picture this scene I picture them praising God with their hymns. The reason I think this is what they were doing is because while they were singing there was a violent earthquake that shook the foundations of the prison, and at once the door opened and the chains came loose. This is what happens when we are able to praise God in the difficult times. Praising God when things are good does not make us different. Even people who are not Christians can celebrate when times are good. It's easy to be happy and to be grateful when all is going our way. That doesn't set us apart. I believe that God loves it any time we praise Him. When we take the time to praise Him I think that makes him very happy. It shows Him that we appreciate Him and everything He does for us. It shows God we are grateful. I believe when we can find to courage and the trust to praise God in the bad times, praise God when most people would look at the situation and not see anything to praise, that is when our biggest break throughs can happen. Paul and Silas had every right to sit in that cell and have a pity party. They could have thought about how unfair their situation was. They could have been mad at God. They were there spreading the Good News of the Gospel. They cast out a demon in Jesus' name, and what did they get for their faithfulness? They were bruised and beaten and thrown into jail. By all accounts, according to the ways o this world, they had every right to be mad and to through a pity party. But they didn't. They prayed and sang hymns. They acted differently and people noticed. In the verse it says the other prisoners were listening to them. The other prisoners noticed they were doing something different. I am sure they were confused as to why these men seemed to be happy about being in jail. I don't think Paul and Silas were happy they were in jail. I do think they were filled with a joy of the Lord that can't be explained. I think they were happy because they knew God would be there for them. They were content to follow what God told them to do and accept the consequences that came along with that. They knew God would take care of them because he always had in the past. When the earthquake happened in this verse and the doors opened most people probably would have run out. I feel as though I would have seen that as a work of God and I may have left. It seems like God answered their prayers by breaking them out of jail, and yet they didn't leave. This is another way in which they acted differently. Not only did they not run away, but even when they were released, the refused to go without an escort. This is an example of how different life can be when you trust God with everything and when you learn to listen to the Holy Spirit. If you look at their actions the whole time they were in jail they never seemed to doubt that God was going to take care of them. They never seem to act like they are scared for their future. They seemed very confident there was a plan and they were happy to wait and see what it was. Because they did not leave, because they were singing when others would have been complaining because of their actions, the jailor fell at Paul's & Silas' feet and ask what he needed to do to be saved and he and is whole house were baptized that night. I feel the Holy Spirit really wants me to get across to you that Christians should act differently. People are watching us, just as the other prisoners were watching Paul and Silas. How are we reacting to disappointments? How are we dealing with the troubles in our lives? Are we reaching out and asking God for help? Are we praising God, even in the difficult times because we know He will take care of us? Are we complaining a lot and getting upset with God because He is not answering our prayers the way we think He should, or in the timing we think is right? People are always watching others and for Christians there is an extra layer or scrutiny. God wants us to share His love and His peace with the rest of the world. We want others to look at us and want to do whatever they can do to have what we have. And I don't mean wealth and material things, I mean the peace and love of Jesus in our hearts. There is a song written by Peter Scholtes called “They'll Know We Are Christians by Our Love.” This line is also part of the chorus. We want to strive to the lives that are talked about in this song. The lyrics are:We are one in the Spirit, we are one in the LordAnd we pray that our unity will one day be restoredAnd they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our loveWe will work with each other, we will work side by sideAnd we'll guard each man's dignity and save each man's prideAnd they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love Would you react differently to situations if you knew other's were watching? Did you know you are Christ's representative in this world? God is counting on us to show other's how amazing it is to be a believer. How amazing it is to live in God's love and peace. God is counting on us to show others Christians act differently. We rely on Him and we trust that He has a plan. We praise Him all the time, not just when we feel like it and not just in the good times. We don't have to rush out of the jail when the doors open we can demand what is just and right because God is taking care of all the details. We don't have to be afraid and defeated because we know the ending to the story. We know God has already won our salvation for us. We know, no matter what happens we are on the winning side and that means we can act differently.Dear Heavenly Father I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode today. Lord, you are amazing. We are sorry we don't praise you more for all the things you do for us. Lord, help us to learn to praise you when we are going through tough times, before we see the way out, before we see the miracle. We want to trust you enough to be able to know the miracle is coming and therefore praise before we see it. We don't want to have to see to believe. We believe Lord, help our unbelief. Help us also to act differently. Help us to not conform to the ways of the world but be transformed by your ways. Help us be a worthy example to all those who are watching. Help us to reflect your love and peace back to all who look upon us. Thank you Lord, we are so grateful. You are the resurrection and the Life. You are the Way, the Truth and the Life. We love you Lord and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, Amen!Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. Tomorrow's guest is Crystal. She is a friend of Andrea, who was on here a few months ago talking about her experience with anxiety. Crystal is giving her witness about the incredible journey she has been on. She has had a lot of struggles over the years and has overcome some pretty big obstacles to get to where she is today. God is using all Crystal has been through for good, as he does will all of us. God is so great! He takes the bad things that happen to us and uses them for good and for the building of His Kingdom. I know you are all going to love hearing her witness. I look forward to sharing it with you tomorrow. Have a blessed day!

XII. The Mastery of LoveWe have already said that the basic conflict is one between love and fear, and that the proper organization of the psyche rests on a lack of level confusion.154 2The section on psychic energy should be reread very carefully, because it is particularly likely to be misinterpreted until this section has been completed.1552 It has already been said that you cannot control fear, because you yourself made it.156 2Your belief in it renders it out of your control by definition. 3For this reason, any attempt to resolve the basic conflict through the concept of mastery of fear is meaningless. 4In fact, it asserts the power of fear by the simple assumption that it need be mastered at all. 5The essential resolution rests entirely on the mastery of love.1573 In the interim, conflict is inevitable. 2The reason for this is the strangely illogical position in which you have placed yourself. 3Since we have frequently emphasized that correction must be applied within the level that error occurs, it should be clear that the miracle must be illogical because its purpose is to correct the illogical and restore order.1584 Two concepts which cannot coexist are nothing and everything. 2To whatever extent one is believed in, the other has been abolished. 3In the conflict, fear is really nothing, and love is really everything. 4The unwillingness to let one’s darkness be seen, or to submit error to light, is a way of denying that the separation ever occurred. 5Like all pseudo-solutions, this kind of distorted thinking is very creative but false.5 The separation has occurred.159 2To deny this is merely to misuse denial. 3However, to concentrate on error is merely a further misuse of legitimate psychic mechanisms. 4The true corrective procedure, which has already been described as the proper use of the spiritual eye (or true vision), is to accept the error temporarily, but only as an indication that immediate correction is mandatory.160 5This establishes a state of mind in which the Atonement can be accepted without delay.6 It is worth repeating that ultimately there is no compromise possible between everything and nothing. 2The purpose of time is essentially to serve as a device by which all compromise in this respect can be abolished. 3It seems to be abolished by degrees precisely because time itself involves a concept of intervals which does not really exist. 4The faulty use of creation has made this necessary as a corrective device. 5“And God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish but have eternal life” needs only one slight correction to be entirely meaningful in this context. 6It should read, “And God so loved the world that He gave it to His only begotten Son.”1617 It should be noted that God has begotten only one Son. 2If you believe that all of the minds that God created are His Sons, and if you also believe that the Sonship is one, then every mind must be a Son of God, or an integral part of the Sonship. 3You do not find the concept that the whole is greater than its parts difficult to understand. 4You should therefore not have too great of a difficulty with this. 5The Sonship in its oneness does transcend the sum of its parts. 6However, it loses this special state as long as any of its parts are missing. 7This is why the conflict cannot ultimately be resolved until all of the individual parts of the Sonship have returned. 8Only then can the meaning of wholeness in the true sense be understood.8 The concept of minus numbers has always been regarded as a mathematical rather than an actual expedient. 2Yet it represents a major limitation on mathematics as presently understood.162 3Any statement which implies degrees of difference in negation is essentially meaningless. 4What can replace this negative approach is a recognition of the fact that as long as one part (which is the same as a million or ten or eight thousand parts) of the Sonship is missing, it is not complete.163 5In the divine psyche, the Father and the Holy Spirit are not incomplete at all. 6The Sonship has the unique faculty of believing in error, or incompleteness, if it so elects. 7However, it is quite apparent that so to elect is to believe in the existence of nothingness. 8The correction of this error is the Atonement.9 We have already briefly spoken about readiness.164 2But there are some additional awarenesses which might be helpful. 3Readiness is nothing more than the prerequisite for accomplishment. 4The two should not be confused. 5As soon as a state of readiness occurs, there is always some will to accomplish, but this is by no means undivided. 6The state does not imply more than the potential for a shift of will. 7Confidence cannot develop fully until mastery has been accomplished.10 We began this section with an attempt to correct the fundamental human error that fear can be mastered. 2The correction was that only love can be mastered. 3Even if you are ready for revelation, though, that does not mean that you have in any way mastered that form of communication. 4Mastery of love necessarily involves a much more complete confidence in the ability than you have as yet attained. 5Readiness, however, is at least an indication that you believe this is possible. 6This is only the beginning of confidence. 7In case this be misunderstood as a statement that an enormous amount of time will be necessary between readiness and mastery, I would again remind you that time and space are under my control.165

Thanks for listening to For the Life of the World. To support the show, you can make a tax-deductible gift to the Yale Center for Faith & Culture by clicking here.---This is that time of year when the little demon of self-criticism and self-denigration wakes up and starts nagging you for letting your new year's resolutions slip a little. Or maybe you're not there yet. You're powering through, waking up early, working out hard, eating right, reading more, living your best life. Hey. Good on you. Go get it.But regardless, whether you find yourself nailing it or failing it, do you have the patience and the necessary courage to accept yourself at every moment you try to improve? This week, Ryan McAnnally-Linz and Miroslav Volf discuss an obscure but incredibly timely passage from an old lecture given by the great Karl Rahner, the German Jesuit priest and one of the most notable Catholic theologians of the 20th century—he was instrumental, for instance, in the theological developments of the Second Vatican Council.Miroslav once heard Rahner give a talk about patience, and has passed along the wisdom of that lecture, and now we're passing it on to you. Miroslav even translated a passage from the German text, and reads it here (you can also find it in our show notes). In this episode, Miroslav Volf and Ryan McAnnally-Linz reflect on Karl Rahner's admonition to be patient with oneself. The discussion begins by recognizing the gap between who you are now and who you aspire to be, and proceeds with the need to keep the tension alive, working and bearing with your limitations, and exploring the freedom of a serene patience with oneself. Serenity is not acquiescence to vice or bad habits. But it represents a courageous long-term peace with your imperfections—an effort to recognize oneself as rooted in divine love and grace and acceptance, even as you pursue a vision of a better self.Show NotesNew Year's Resolutions and the need to be patientKarl Rahner's “Intellectual Patience with Oneself” (translated from German to English by Miroslav Volf)Minding the gap between who you are and who you aspire to beNarcissism, complacency, and resignationMiroslav's friend's motto for graduate school: “Courage to Imperfection!"Patience is not merely a private interior thing—there is a public effect of bearing with oneself that leads to bearing with others. The courage to public imperfectionCultivating a secure sense of self grounded in God's loveWe can live with imperfection knowing that we are accepted as we areRelease yourself from the grip of the performed, curated selfHow patience with oneself applies to the struggle to improve through New Year's ResolutionsReflect on which self you want to nurture and don't give up on the tension between who you are and who you aspire to be.Constant pressure to improve quickly, as opposed to acceptance of limitations and imperfectionsKeep the tension alive, work with your limitations, and explore the freedom of a serene patience with oneself. You cannot do whatever you want, and the lie that you can leaves you exposed to the deep pain of failure and limitation.“You are not at stake.” Limits are there. They are to be worked with rather than hated or abhorred."I'm not divine. I'm human."Karl Rahner, “On Intellectual Patience with Oneself”in Schriften zur Theologie, 15, 303ff.(Abridged version of the first few paragraphs that deal with patience with oneself in general, of which intellectual patience with oneself is one dimension)Translated by Miroslav VolfThat we need … patience with ourselves, seems to me a self-evident thing, in fact one of those self-evident things which in reality turn out to be difficult to achieve. Perhaps there are people who don't think they need patience with themselves because they are in full agreement with who they are and with what they do. But I hope that we will not envy the “good fortune” of such simple-minded people. If we are honest with ourselves, we are [all] the kind of people who, rightly, are not fully finished with ourselves, and also the kind of people who cannot establish the state of their full agreement with ourselves on command or through some psychological trick. Because a full agreement with ourselves is neither given nor within our power to achieve, we need to have patience with ourselves. The person in us, who we actually are, greets with pain, the person in us who we want to become… We are now on the way, we live between a past and a future, and both, each in its own way, are out of our full control. We never have all things together which we need to live; we are always historically conditioned, socially manipulated, biologically threatened—and we are aware of this. We can try to suppress the knowledge of this state of existence; we can try to let things that we cannot change just be there as surd elements of our lives; or we can misuse joyous experiences of life as analgesics against the uncanny tensions between who we are and who we should be; or we can interpret these dissatisfactions as depression which we either have simply to suffer or which we can medicalize ourselves against. But when we muster the courage to face these tensions [between who we are and who we aspire to become], when we acknowledge them and accept them … then we have come to have patience with ourselves, to accept that we are not in pure agreement with ourselves… Many believe that they have patience with themselves and that this patience is the most ordinary of things. But if we were to look at such people more carefully, we would see that they do not take on patiently the pain of their tensions, that they don't face them without ether embellishing or hating them, but that they flee from them into the banality of everyday life … that what has triumphed in them [over these tensions] is an unrecognized despair or despairing resignation, that they, in the end, believe that life has no meaning. We would also see that they do not actually have patience as they behold the questionableness of their existence, but are seeking ways to look away and find surrogates for patience, which, they believe, make it possible for them to live. Those who are truly patient endure in reality their existential tensions, take them on, accept the pain they cause… Those who are patient are patient with their impatience; serenely, they let go of the final “agreement” between who they are and what they aspire to become. They do not know where this serenity, in which they let themselves be, comes from… Those who are patient are serene and therefore free.We will not further explore the question about what it is that we ultimately fall upon when practicing such serene patience. Some people will think that the stance rests on “Nothing”; resting on “Nothing,” they can be victorious over tense conflicts of finite realities in their own lives. Others are persuaded, that “Nothing,” when one gives it its proper sense, is of no use, that it can have no power to give peace. Instead, they believe that when we serenely accept our tensions [between who we are and what we aspire to become], then, whether we are aware or not, we have come to rest on what in everyday use of the word we call God.And when we really understand that word [God], the we see that the letting oneself “fall” into the silent incomprehensibility which is God “succeeds” because God receives in grace those who let themselves fall into serene patience with themselves.

II Timothy 1:6-7We can fear less in faithWe can fear less in full strengthWe can fear less in lavish loveWe can fear less with sound minds
The upside down theology of Christianity- down is up and up is down – We lose ourselves in order to find ourselves; admit we are wrong so we can be declared right; are strongest when we’re weakest;. this one is We rejoice in suffering instead of learning to just get over it or learning to put up with it. There’s a secret here, a mystery, a hidden treasure as usual which declares the reality of a life lived with God. It’s the story of the gospel again in one of its 10,000 reasons. Suffering produces enduranceRomans 5:2 but we rejoice (buoyant) in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance (seeing the potential - pain/gain Hebrews 12:2), and endurance produces character (‘dokime’ trustworthy, genuine, tried and true - sine-cere - without wax), and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame (make us feel worthless and helpless), because God's love has been poured into our hearts (a cloudburst after the drought Joel 2:28) through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. (The healing rain) What is suffering? In this life we live with suffering and limitations. They belong to our limited being as distinct from God who is an unlimited being. Suffering is the human experience of our reaction to our limitations – Can’t have what we want, do what we want, be what we want or know who we really are. This is actually our reaction to losing our entitlement to certain things (the current global crisis). This disorientates us and leads to an identity crisis – what I thought was mine now isn’t mine. Who is the ‘me’ that says it’s mine (Babies - and kids in kindy). Losing the true ‘me’ brings about shame (makes me somehow feel worthless or helpless or hopeless. Endurance forms Character. If I cannot accept and endure the reality of this loss or deprivation that is due to limitations character is not formed. Jesus came into the midst of our limitations. He did not come to remove them but he has given us his unlimited risen self in the midst of them. (Hebrews 12:2-4 He endured the cross despising the shame, resisting unto blood). As we learn to live consciously with him we can ‘lose’ our me-self and find our true self (Matthew 16:25). limitations are now met and endured with acceptance (1Thessalonians 5:13). This opens the way for grace to become buoyant in trials (rejoicing). This character (sincerity, inner strength) creates a new hope This hope is an expectation of God’s goodness and love. We then experience the love of God poured out upon us. We are not disoriented, or made to feel ashamed (worthless, helpless or hopeless). We are made to feel worthwhile! (Joel 2:27) This Hope fills our real self with God’s loveWe begin to know who we are and to live in the potential of who we were designed to be in Christ.
Our guest for this week is Virginia Salas Kastilio, a serial entrepreneur and founder & CEO of the organization ‘I Trust You’.About VirginiaVirginia is on a mission to reconnect humanity and bring consciousness into the mainstream. Her journey so far has been an incredibly rich adventure filled with all sorts of stories of entrepreneurial success. In 2015, she founded a media agency ‘Gini.TV’ that helps businesses build influence and online awareness. Because of her contributions to social media marketing, she was named #1 female Snapchat influencer by Inc. Magazine. In 2017, she was ranked as one of the top 27 female entrepreneurs to change the world by the same magazine. She is currently scaling her latest organization called ‘I Trust You’ with a goal to contribute to co-creating a regenerative and happy planet Earth. Inspired by the announcement that the UN made in 2018 about how we have 12 years to limit a catastrophe caused by climate change, Virginia decided to contribute to the cause by creating a platform that will allow people to connect around the idea of planet conservation and do amazing things together! The latest addition to her efforts to save the world is ‘I Trust University’ with the idea of introducing the future of education by presenting ancient wisdom for futuristic thinkers. They already offer a bunch of amazing courses from prominent educators, along with a free masterclass called “How to Build Your Legacy” and you can get it here!Connect with Virginia:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/virginia.salaskastilioInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/ginicanbreathe/?hl=enLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/virginiasalaskastilio/Website: https://www.itrustyou.love/In This Episode We CanvasWhat Inspired Her to Create ‘I Trust You’Even though she was a rising talent in the corporate world, having worked for companies such as Apple and Oracle, managing billions of dollars in the process. However, she knew her true passion lied somewhere else and on her one-year travel around the world, Virginia started noticing a pattern while trying to answer the question “What does it mean to be happy?”“I traveled the world for a year as a ‘happiness researcher’... I just traveled around and interviewed people on what meant to be happy… So in that whole journey of traveling that’s when the insight, the download came to me… Is that, we are becoming more and more disconnected as a humanity.” - Virginia Salas KastilioThe Relationship Between Trust and LoveWe dive deep into what trust means for Virginia and why she puts it at the very core of her message and mission.“Trust is everything. Trust is the baseline for love. And there is only love or fear. And so I believe that when making that transition from fear to trust and love we need courage.” - Virginia Salas KastilioPraying Through Expressing GratitudePraying can be useful practice even for those who are approaching it in a more non-religious way. For Virginia, the act of praying is more or less a thoughtful recapitulation of all the things that you are grateful for. Expressing gratitude is a well-known and effective approach for achieving personal growth, preserving mental health and overall having a better quality of life.“If you really sit with yourself long enough and just start appreciating every little thing… appreciate your relationships, appreciate just the fact that you’re alive just now and you just start praying on that and coming into that gratitude, you’re going to start feeling that courage really bubble up inside you and you’re going to remember who you are - the infinite being that is capable of doing anything in this world.” - Virginia Salas KastilioThe ‘I Trust You’ ExperimentVirginia shares her experiences with the ‘I Trust You’ experiment where she would put on a blindfold, an ‘I Trust You’ T-shirt and hold a sign that says “I trust you, do you trust me? Give me a hug!” It is an incredible way to step into the unknown, be extremely vulnerable while also being an outside-the-box approach to facing fears of intimacy and social anxiety. The hug also plays a key component because, as Virginia puts it herself, “one of the greatest medicines that we have is physical touch.”“If you want a full-blown transformation of what it feels like when the universe is just loving you and when you are afraid to put yourself out there and be blindfolded and vulnerable to the world and to receive so much love - do the ‘I Trust You’ experiment.” - Virginia Salas KastilioEarth Regeneration Instead of SustainabilityVirginia’s mission of preserving the Earth for the future of humanity is revolved around the notion of regeneration rather than sustainability, giving the entire movement a unique and profoundly uplifting feel. The concept of sustainability is strong but its nature is limited - the focus is put on our own survival rather than the one of our planet. By placing regeneration in the center of our goals, we aim beyond pure existence, into the realm of ecological prosperity. “We don’t want to sustain this. We don’t want to sustain an island of garbage floating around the ocean and polluted rivers… We’re past sustainable… We want to regenerate it. We want to replant, regrow, nourish, clean...” - Virginia Salas KastilioLetting Fear Guide You to Your PurposeWe sign off by discussing one of the most popular concepts in our podcasts which is “purpose”. Virginia’s approach to it is quite interesting because it’s somewhat counter-intuitive and yet still thoroughly effective. When striving for our purpose we tend to focus on the things that make us happy and that we enjoy doing. But Virginia argues that this is not an optimal approach for achieving personal growth.“Let fear actually guide you, guide your path of where you need to go and ask yourself ‘What is the thing that would scare me the most and where I’m moving towards?”, that you know that when you get there - it will be the biggest reward. The most exciting thing… Orientating yourself with happiness and joy or what makes you feel good is actually a mistake that a lot of people make.” - Virginia Salas KastilioVirginia’s Message of Inspired EvolutionThis has been a truly, mesmerizingly, inspiring conversation about a whole specter of different topics, each and every single one completely relevant to the struggles that we’re experiencing in today’s world. Both as a society and individuals. Even though a single highlight doesn’t really do this conversation justice, it’s always a good idea to end on a call to action. Stay Inspired! To Evolve! YEW!!! “What do you care about?… What are you excited about creating in the world and what is the craziest, scariest thing you can think of? Go and do that!” - Virginia Salas Kastilio See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We all grumble sometimes. Yet, how often do we remember the blessings we receive? Today's sermon addresses the challenge of gratitude during teams of disappointment and struggle. Our guest from this week is Jason Campbell, a growth hacker and one of the sales and marketing leaders at Mindvalley.About JasonJason loves to sell. He’s been perfecting his craft throughout his entire career and for the last 6 years, he’s been a huge part of the Mindvalley sales and marketing team. On his lengthy list of special skills, you can find things such as process mapping, business models, sales, public speaking, real estate investment analysis, internet marketing, CRM, email marketing, landing pages, and conversion hacking. Jason is also the host of ‘Impact at Work’, where he guides students to discover the most cutting-edge concepts in productivity, communication, leadership, personal excellence, and breaks them down into more into simple action steps that they can immediately apply. He is currently focused on defining and developing his personal brand so that he could spread his inspirational message aimed to help people overcome hesitation and embrace personal growth.Connect with Jason:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jascampbell17LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jascampbell17/?originalSubdomain=myInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jascampbell17/Twitter: https://twitter.com/jascampbell17?lang=enIn This Episode We Canvas:How Does Mindvalley Plan to Reach Billions of People?Mindvalley aims to redefine the educational system in order to elevate humanity. Their marketing goals are ambitious, which is understandable as they are trying to change the world! Jason gives us an insight into the approach Mindvalley uses to increase the reach of their message and make relevant partnerships and business connections.“In the personal growth industry, there are two things that you want to look for. How impactful, structured, authentic amazing is what that person is delivering and second is how many people are they reaching? The fact is, we want to reach a billion lives so we look for people that already have audiences that are already attracted to the personal growth movement and we want to combine as much of this industry together so we can become one big platform that changes lives.” - Jason CampbellThe Role Purpose Plays in Personal DevelopmentWe explore the concept of purpose, highlighting its value and contribution to personal development. Jason proposes an elegant analogy to describe the true purpose of purpose.“The purpose kind of seems like setting your north star, right? But the point isn’t to get to that star, it’s to sail the sea.” - Jason CampbellIs Repetition of Themes Good for the Personal Growth Movement?Since joining Mindvalley, Jason has been constantly surrounded by thought leaders in the personal growth industry. Having done over 40 in-depth interviews with some of the most renowned experts from this field, he started picking up patterns in their narrative. He realized that certain themes are repeated and that there are certain similarities between seemingly different schools of thought. Still, he understands that this is not an anomaly but rather a necessity that works in favor of those trying to learn, grow, and evolve.“I think that repetition IS necessary… Everybody has a different way of trying to achieve the same thing and that’s OK because everybody resonates with a different thing... Once you’ve found something that resonated with you… do something about it. And then if you feel stuck, go back and listen to someone saying probably the same thing in a different way and maybe that’s what you need to hear.” - Jason CampbellSales as an Expression of LoveWe’ve mentioned before that Jason really, really loves to sell and in this conversation, you will hear just why that is. He’s spent a lot of time honing his craft by taking in concepts from the personal growth industry and refining his personal theory of sales. Jason offers a new way for us to interpret the selling process, one that is built around the potential for doing good.“When I say ‘selling from love’ I say, first off, let’s take away the charge of sales. I say sales is an energy exchange... You will offer something in exchange for money but there’s another piece of currency that goes into it which is the emotion, the vibration. And for those who love incorporating business and spirituality, this is where it becomes beautiful. ” - Jason CampbellThe Essential Components of Selling from LoveIn his inspired model of selling from love, Jason goes over 3 key principles which will help you reinvent yourself in how you approach selling your product or service. The first one is self-love.“You’ve got to be very strong about who you are, what you stand for, and then, when you do that, you’ll understand that you’ve aligned yourself with something to sell that you truly believe in.” - Jason CampbellThe second principle highlights the importance of perfecting your product.“I encourage people to adapt is ‘If the product doesn’t fit the needs, fix the product.’” - Jason CampbellFinally, he sums up the last principle in three simple words.“Love the stakeholder." - Jason CampbellHow Abundance Inspires LoveAs we drew our conversation to a close, Jason inspired us with his understanding of the connection between abundance and love. He explains in much detail the journey every salesperson should experience which is centered around inspiring love from abundance.“The first need you need to satisfy is your own… If you have a bit more abundance you start realizing ‘Hey! It’s not just about me, it’s about the entire company.’... A major threshold here is when it becomes about the client that you’re selling to. When you start selling to that client you genuinely care and love the person you’re selling to, you will only sell to them when you genuinely understand that whatever it is that you’re selling them is worth more than what you’re asking in return. Do you know what balances out the equation? Love!” - Jason CampbellJason’s Message of Inspired EvolutionI’m captivated by Jason’s musings on the process of selling. But another thing that caught my ear is how he impresses with his understanding of major obstacles people trying to improve their life and well-being are usually faced with. At one point in the conversation, we’ve touched on hesitation and I hope his little improvised pep-talk is just the right message of support you needed to hear today. Much love!“Pick something, make a decision, figure it out, go!” - Jason Campbell See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
