The Book Leads – Episode 75: Angelic Lovestrong & The Secret by Rhonda Byrne As Founder and CEO of Lady Powerhouse Solutions, and co-host of the Fempreneur True Confessions Podcast, Angelic is diving into all-things-entrepreneurship and building others up. Her wide-ranging experiences and career moves have contributed to where she is today -- helping her clients get things done in their own businesses through a suite of professional services. Building upon that mindset of getting things done, in this episode she shares her take on and experience with the book, The Secret. She speaks to what she's learned from the book and incorporated into her own life, manifesting what it is she wants to happen. Desires don't just materialize into existence. Preparation and planning go a long way in making things happen. A lot of times, though, manifesting is a matter of just...getting...started. "Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation" by Zig Ziglar. CONVERSATION HIGHLIGHTS “No more working for others, making everyone else awesome. It's time for me and what I am called to do.” The Itty Bitty Shitty Committee in your head Facades – eventually people will come through the door and see the real "Anything you can do I can do better" is not about being full of yourself MENTIONED OR APPLICABLE EPISODES Frequency: The Power of Personal Vibration by Penney Peirce Manifest: 7 Steps to Living Your Best Life by Roxie Nafousi Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones by James Clear MENTIONED OR APPLICABLE BOOKS Episode 11: Jessica Mand & Frequency: The Power of Personal Vibration Episode 48: Edie Clarke & (1) Hello Fears: Crush Your Comfort Zone and Become Who You're Meant To Be by Michelle Poler; (2) Practical Law of Attraction: Align Yourself with the Manifesting Conditions and Successfully Attract Your Desires by Victoria Gallagher. Episode 76: Cindy Gersch & Manifest:7 Steps to Living Your Best Life by Roxie Nafousi The MAIN QUESTION underlying my conversation with Angelic is, c About Angelic Angelic started working when she was 16. She's worked in restaurants, a big city PR Firm, web design, human resources, quality control, major fundraising, and opened and closed her own retail brick and mortar. No matter the industry, she's been creating solid infrastructure for businesses since 1991. Then she decided, “No more working for others, making everyone else awesome. It's time for me and what I am called to do.” It was time for a bigger leap. She's created a business allowing her the power and freedom to choose who to serve and how. Lady Powerhouse Solutions supports women-powered initiatives that honor a calling and act with purpose to achieve their vision. I was introduced to Angelic by video producer and YouTube Strategist Edie Clarke, whom I had a conversation with in Episode 48 to cover: (1) Hello Fears: Crush Your Comfort Zone and Become Who You're Meant To Be by Michelle Poler; and (2) Practical Law of Attraction: Align Yourself with the Manifesting Conditions and Successfully Attract Your Desires by Victoria Gallagher. A few years ago, I found this study from Harvard, and it changed my life. It's research about performance and feeling nervous, with a simple reframing method that you can use to never let fear stop you again.I've been using this technique with my five second rule for years, and the first way I applied it was to get control of my nerves and fear of public speaking.I'm going to teach you this new method in a super cool way... by taking you on the road, on stage, and behind the scenes with me as I deliver a keynote address to 3,000 people at the convention center in Dallas.I've been wanting to bring you on the road with me for awhile, and this topic allowed me to record this episode live in multiple locations while all kinds of things were unfolding. There's even an impromptu guest appearance from Michelle Poler, whose entire speaking career is about teaching people how to face their fears. This Harvard-backed technique is so cool because it leverages your body chemistry, physiology, and neural pathways to your advantage. The #1 fear most people have is public speaking, but this technique will help you with absolutely everything, whether it's speaking up at work, giving an incredible presentation, not choking when you deliver the toast at your best friend's wedding, performing better on tests, or even running better.Stop letting fear hold you back. Use science not only to reframe your fears into excitement but to conquer them once and for all.And one more thing. My free, brand new, research-backed training called "Take Control with Mel Robbins" is live and waiting for you. Get 3 incredible video trainings plus a 21-page workbook, and all you have to do is sign up here.Already a quarter of a million students are taking the course for free.I'm just waiting for you!Xo Mel In this episode, you'll learn: 5:00: I'm always asked how I got into public speaking. Here's the story.10:15: The question YOU need to ask when someone asks how much you charge.12:15: One of THE best tools to calm your nerves is not meditation (for me), but this.13:30: This is my favorite quote from Charlie Bird Parker.15:15: The wardrobe failure that may have rivaled Janet Jackson's.16:30: Failure sucks, but the Pratfall Effect says failure can work for you. 19:00: I was so excited to meet this speaker and bestselling author from Venezuela.21:45: Best journal starter question ever: Are you alive but not living?24:30: Feeling like you never have time? You're not going to believe this advice.28:15: Turns out modeling nude is actually a really profound experience. 29:00: Fear might indicate danger OR it might indicate growth. Pay attention.30:00: How can you tell the difference between true intuition and limiting fear?32:30: How do you get over your fear of public speaking?34:00: Feeling imposter syndrome? You're not alone. Here's what you need.40:15: Come on stage with me at the Dallas Convention Center.40:40: I'm going to face my biggest fear next year for Oakley's 18th birthday.42:00: When you do something that scares the pants off you, remember this.44:30: Tool #3 is based on research from Harvard - here's what you tell yourself.50:00: You don't feel butterflies when you're nervous because you're going to screw up. Think back to something… scary. Intimidating. Something you signed up for and thought was a great idea in the moment, but that grew more and more unnerving as it grew closer. Maybe it was an athletic endeavour, an overseas adventure, or a serious stretch goal at work. If you asked friends for advice as the big day crept ever closer, they probably asked you the classic question: “What's the worst that could happen?” And for a second, you might've calmed down. You might've remembered the big event wasn't going to kill you. But if that wasn't the worst thing that could happen, what was? You could've been utterly humiliated. Maybe you could've lost a lot of money, or ruined your reputation? You could've been injured, or rejected, or… See? Now your mind is spiraling, overflowing with worst-case scenarios. Michelle Poler, who speaks on fear and the comfort zone, has heard that advice countless times, and she's fed up. When you ask yourself for worst-case scenarios, surprise: you get them. Do you ever catch yourself thinking..."what have I been doing?" Does life feel like it is passing you by? Well for 1. Covid doesn't help and/or 2. You may be doing the same routine day in and day out. This week things aligned and 3 different people expressed thinking about your quality of life. This Doctor, Dr. Hyman that my coworker and dad follow talked about lifespan vs heatlhspan. He talked about how people tend to live longer, but are they living a quality life? You could live to be 100 but are you ACTUALLY living? Is your health where you want it to be? Are you grasping what is going on? Then this book I am reading Hello Fears by Michelle Poler talks about how over time our brains store memories in "boxes." That if you are doing the same routine over time your brain summarizes it into wake up, eat, work, lunch, work, go home, eat, sleep, repeat (ok tailor it to your day lol) and that is what your only memory is for the next 1,2,3+ years. How crazy is that? However, if you switch things up your brain starts storing memories individually. Graham Cochran talks about for his business he goes on these business retreats. These retreats include him, a hotel or a day or the weekend and stuff to plan for a year of business content. He stresses the importance of stepping away from your environment to get creative juices flowing and go all in without distractions.

Hello fears! Whether it’s spiders, open water or public speaking, everyone has something that frightens them, whether it’s rational or not. With everything going on the world the last few months, fear has been on all of our minds recently. Though this fear is very real, it’s also related to events happening outside of ourselves...events we can’t fully control. But we also all have deeper emotional fears that aren’t related to what is going on in the world and are more constant: fear of vulnerability, fear of rejection, fear of being trapped, etc. They come from inside us, and they hold us back from living the life we really want to live. What if you could train yourself to face your fears and become more than you ever thought possible in life? Today’s guest, Michelle Poler, asked herself that same question and embarked on a life-changing experiment where she faced a new fear every day for 100 days. Her project went viral, and she now travels the world speaking and writing about how to walk through fear and tap into your fullest potential. In this episode, she shares her incredible journey, what she learned through her experiment and her tips for overcoming fear in everyday life. Listen to discover: Why our fears limit us and keep us from becoming who we’re meant to be How to practice courage and build confidence How to face the unknown and embrace change Reframing failure and choosing to see opportunity instead Finding the best, even in the worst-case scenario When we feel fear in our bodies, most of us take that as a sign to stop what we’re doing or run in the other direction. But when we push through that fear, we discover a world of potential, dreams and opportunities. Michelle’s story and perspective on life is SO inspiring, and I know you will walk away from this episode with fresh energy to say “no” to fear and “yes” to life! “When you radically accept what’s happening, you open new doors.” - Michelle Poler “Don’t ask yourself, ‘What’s the worst thing that could happen?’ Ask yourself ‘What’s the best thing that could happen?’” - Michelle Poler “The real enemy of success is not failure; it’s comfort.” - Michelle Poler Resources Michelle Poler Website https://www.michellepoler.com/ Michelle Poler Instagram http://instagram.com/hellofears Michelle Poler Book https://www.amazon.com/Hello-Fears-Crush-Comfort-Become/dp/1492688894 The Adult Chair Workshop - Nashville https://theadultchair.com/nashville/ The Adult Chair Membership (June Theme: Self-Worth) https://theadultchair.com/membership/ Care/Of https://takecareof.com/ 50% off with code ADULT50 More Adult Chair The Adult Chair Website https://theadultchair.com The Adult Chair Coaching Certification https://theadultchair.com/certification-program/ The Adult Chair Workshop - Nashville, New York and Charleston https://theadultchair.com/events/ Stay Connected Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/michelle.chalfant Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/MichelleChalfantFanPage/ The Adult Chair Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/theadultchair/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/Michellechalfant *** EPISODE CREDITS: If you like this podcast and are thinking of creating your own, consider talking to my producer, Danny Ozment. In this episode we share how to face down your fears and we uncover what happens when you do. We hear the incredible story of how our guest, Michelle Poler, spent 100 days facing down her biggest fears and show what you can learn from her journey.
Michelle Poler is one of the biggest stars in the public speaking world. Her brand is distinctive, unique, and stands out from the pack -- and it all happened when she stopped worrying about pleasing everyone else, and started bringing more of herself to her work. She has a new book -- Hello, Fears -- that can help you do the same thing. In this episode, we talk about public speaking, chasing your fears, how to create a remarkable brand, and what Michelle learned about the power of being herself in front of others. In 2015, Michelle started a project called www.100dayswithoutfear.com. Where she vlogged for 100 days as she conquered her fears from eating oysters to holding a cat, from skydiving to writing an honest letter to her parents. On the 100th day, she gave a speech at TEDxHouston which changed the trajectory of her life as she launched a huge brand and career as a speaker.

In this episode of 5 to 9, we talked to Michelle Poler, the creator of 100DaysWithoutFear. Last year, she challenged herself to face 100 of her biggest fears and recorded the process through daily Youtube videos. After getting over 5M views on her YouTube channel, HelloFears, and overcoming her biggest fear, giving a TED talk, she now travels all over the world to speak about her changed perception of fear and inspire others to take action. We discussed how she’s used to being a planner and always needed control, balancing work, grad school AND a 100 day project, how she found out that the opposite of fear is not fearlessness, how this project tapped into her inner qualities that she didnt know was there, and finding a higher meaning to your side projects. Michelle Poler Speaker Youtuber Fear Facer Creator of Hello Fears and 100 Days Without Fear http://www.michellepoler.com Hello Fears"Facing your fears is scary, but living in fear is terrifying." Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela to a family of holocaust survivors, Michelle was accustomed to living with fear. But when she moved to New York to pursue a Masters in Branding at the School of Visual Arts, Michelle quickly realized that NYC was not for the fearful. In efforts to re-write her definition of fear, Michelle completed a project where she faced 100 fears in 100 days. At around day 40, the project was discovered by the media becoming a viral phenomenon. Facing her fears took Michelle to TEDx’s stage where she completed her 100th challenge. This helped her turn a personal project into a global movement, allowing her to quit her job as Art Director in Y&R to pursue her passion. Michelle discovered that inspiring others to go after their fears was her new calling. She is now touring the world speaking at companies, schools and organizations teaching audiences how to step outside their comfort zones as a way to tap into their full potential. She is also the founder at Hello Fears, a platform where everyday people get to inspire everyday people with stories of courage. The following is from 100dayswithoutfear.com and in Michelle's own words. Thinking about it, living in fear worked out pretty good for me. I got to live a controlled lifestyle where things would normally go according to plan. Until now. In 2014, I moved to New York City to start a Master's Degree in Branding at the School of Visual Arts. Trying to control New York was a complete nightmare, but what really pushed me to pursue this project was not the controlled lifestyle I was leaving behind, but the frustration of not enjoying this city and life in general to the fullest. Since the unknown has proven to be so much more fulfilling than the familiar, I decided to face all of my fears one by one being completely vulnerable about it and trying to enjoy the ride. On October 18th, 2015 I faced my last fear: to speak at TEDxHouston. I not only faced the big fear of public speaking but I empowered millions to step out of their comfort zone and live a life without fear, which is the biggest reward I obtained by starting this amazing initiative. From that day on I decided to dedicate my life to encourage as many people as possible to start living a more fulfilled lifestyle by speaking at schools, organizations and companies all over the world. I also launched an online platform for everyday people to get inspired by everyday people. I first heard today's guest, Michelle Poler, speak at the World Domination Summit about her 100 Days Without Fear Challenge and I found it SO inspiring. She faced 100 fears, documenting the entire thing on YouTube. After going viral, she quit her job and now travels around speaking about the life changing benefits of facing our fears, and recording YouTube videos every Wednesday to answer one question: WTF Are We So Afraid Of?! She has an awesome story, and I'm excited to share it with all of you. 100 Days Without Fear was a project in which Michelle faced 100 fears in 100 days – all while attending graduate school and holding down an advertising job. She used her mornings, lunch breaks and late nights to complete the challenge between classes, work and homework. On top of all that, Michelle also created regular videos to share her journey. Michelle challenged her fears by doing things like: Speaking at a TedxHouston Watching the sunrise, by herself, from the Brooklyn Bridge Riding a roller coaster for the first time Dancing like nobody's watching, in Times Square Walking a trapeze Skydiving Michelle's challenge was a huge success, in large part because she had the foresight to create a defined brand that resonated with people before launching the project. The tone, visuals and audio all added up to an empowering and exciting experience for the audience to follow. Since finishing the project, she has been approached with a number of amazing opportunities. She's focusing on speaking and expanding the YouTube channel – because she loves it. “I feel I have a strong message I want to communicate to younger girls, and they are on YouTube.” Moving forward, Michelle is trying to direct her message at a younger generation of women. She is creating a new YouTube series, in which she will be speaking to her younger self: a really scared kid who was too comfortable. The new series is expected to launch in January. “I'm never going to be that relevant to anyone if I keep trying to appeal to absolutely everyone.” Michelle leveraged her mastery of branding to monetize what she loves – speaking to inspire people, especially younger women. I loved watching a TEDx talk by Michelle Poler called “100 Days without Fear.” At the time, I was co-leading a series of webcasts called “Dancing with Fear,” so it was especially relevant, not just for me but for the program I was presenting. Michelle Poler began her talk by saying this was her one hundredth day of tackling one fear a day. Her one hundredth fear was giving a TEDx talk!
Michelle talks to us about facing fears, getting away from the ‘norm’ and why inspiring people makes her happy. http://www.thehappypodcast.com/episode15
