I veckans avsnitt av ”Så in i Själen” möter ni Marianne Hallberg. Greetings Glocal Citizens! This week on the podcast, rather than one last guest rounding out our March 2023 herstories series, I went into our archives with a specific goal of putting together a salon of sorts about craft. I think of craft as how vocation, location, persistence and passion fulfill us. According to Merriam-Webster, it is skill in planning, making, or executing. I always ask this question because I feel it allows my guest to share more than what they do on a day-to-day basis for economic returns i.e. work, and gets closer to the heart of who they are and how they go about manifesting a new world. So, this week we're re-visiting with: Jamaican-American, Nydia Swaby (https://glocalcitizens.fireside.fm/guests/nydia-swaby) a Black feminist researcher, writer, and curator based in London about Archives, Art and Freedom Dreams; Filipino-Jamaican-American, Zee Clarke (https://glocalcitizens.fireside.fm/guests/zee-clarke) an author, mindfulness practitioner and racial healing professional about Healing in Breathing; Ghanaian-Afro-German, Ekua Yankah (https://glocalcitizens.fireside.fm/guests/ekua-yankah) a thought leader in international development on being a Polyglot, Professor, Policy Advisor and Art Patron; Ghanaian-Brit, Esther Armah (https://glocalcitizens.fireside.fm/guests/esther-armah) an author, journalist and entrepreneur on storytelling for structural change; Nigerian, Sarah Adeyinka (https://glocalcitizens.fireside.fm/guests/sarah-adeyinka) a humanitarian researcher and author on Humanitarian CoCreating; and and Detroit Native, Dereca Blackmon (https://glocalcitizens.fireside.fm/guests/dereca-blackmon) an inclusion innovator, speaker and spiritual activist about Uncommon Conversations. Be sure to check out full episodes using the links above, there's a wealth of valuable, craft-inspired insights from each of these audacious women! Special Guests: Dereca Blackmon, Ekua Yankah, Esther Armah, Nydia Swaby, Sarah Adeyinka, and Zhalisa "Zee" Clarke.

— “Although the world is full of suffering, it is also filled with the overcoming of it” These words shared by Helen Keller, Alana's ancestor, have been a source of encouragement and inspiration throughout her life. When in dark places, they have been a reminder for Alana about the truth of who and what she is — the truth of who and what we all are as human beings. From the moment of birth, we are dominantly conditioned to turn away from uncomfortable emotions and sensations. We are living in a culture of distraction and numbing, seeking self-worth and acceptance outside of ourselves. We are not often encouraged to turn inwards, to acknowledge and embrace the discomforts of the human experience. More and more, research is revealing the connection between our physical and emotional experiences and the consequences of burying our emotions under ice cream, social media and the latest technology fad . When we deny our emotions, this energy becomes stored in the body and can create physical symptoms, dis-ease. It has also been learned that we are unable to selectively numb our experiences. When we resist turning towards our sadness, anger and physical pain, we also limit our access to joy, connection and peace. Turning towards suffering offers the possibility of transforming it. By acknowledging and observing emotions and sensations, without judgment and with compassion, our nervous system becomes increasingly familiar with them thus deactivating the fear response. We move from a state of protection to state of connection, internally and externally. In this state of connection we are more able to experience compassion, gratitude, joy and love within ourselves and in relationship with others. Valeria interviews Alana Newton — Psychotherapist, Founder of Compati Counselling, Mindfulness Practitioner, Lightworker, Speaker. Alana has been a healer for as long as she can remember, having attempted to revive many dead birds with the kiss of life. She formally entered the healing profession over 20 years ago as a registered nurse, then shifted her career becoming a psychotherapist to deepen her exploration of the human experience. Living with a rare disease associated with physical pain, Alana has been gifted the moment-by-moment opportunity to practice being with emotional and physical suffering. The diagnosis, coupled with her father's death, abruptly pulled back the veil of certainty and control in life. She was catapulted into her spiritual awakening and woke up to her authentic self, the truth of her existence and her purpose in this lifetime. Weaving her knowledge, experience and awareness of body, mind, heart and soul, Alana bridges science and spirituality to integrate all parts of the human experience. She gently guides her clients to become curious and compassionate about their emotional and physical experiences and supports their transition from protection to connection, from fear to love. Alana believes when we (re)connect with our true nature as human beings, our unconditional love, we have the ability to transform and transcend suffering. Starting with herself, Alana's life purpose is to cultivate compassion, joy and peace on Earth, one person at a time. Alana has recently launched her private practice, Compati Counselling, where she compassionately guides clients towards their (re)connection with their authentic selves. She is also a consultant and public speaker about the lived experience of chronic illness and embodying an aligned and meaningful life. To learn more about Alana Newton and her work, please visit: compaticounselling.com — This podcast is a quest for well-being, a quest for a meaningful life through the exploration of fundamental truths, enlightening ideas, insights on physical, mental, and spiritual health. The inspiration is Love. The aspiration is to awaken new ways of thinking that can lead us to a new way of being, being well.

BIG LOVE ks When Jeff Granville faced a parent's greatest nightmare, little did he know that a calm inner mental practice of visualisation and breathing, or what is seen today as mindfulness, would save a life. On December 30th 2014 Jeff's 4 year old son Makoy suddenly became very ill. During the medical procedures to save his life, Jeff used mindfulness to sooth and care for Makoy as he was going through spinal taps and other invasive procedures. After Makoy was diagnosed with a rare form of T-cell Leukemia, Jeff became a Mindfulness Practitioner and formed the nonprofit, Mindful Presents, to bring the gift of mindfulness, coherence and controlled breathing to pediatric patients, families and care providers. Two things can change the course of our lives, says our guest for this episode of Discover Your SecondAct Podcast, the books that we read, and the people we meet. Born in Aligarh, Himanshu Saxena started his professional journey as a geologist, going on to join the Indian Army, today he is the CEO of the Center of Strategic Mindset, Design Thinker & Mindfulness Practitioner, it is undoubtedly the combined influence of books and people, he says that has helped him carve out his destiny. Leading leaders of the world, showing people that transformation happens from within, he ranks today in the #Global Top 100 MG Coaches in Strategy, Purpose & Culture. Key highlights: Two things can change the course of your life- the books that you read and the people you meet Life is not binary- it's not to be lived through one particular lens. Sometimes you got to look before you leap, and sometimes you ought to leap before you look, but at all times you've got to have the discretion to know which one to choose Our life need not be surrendered to one domain- we can have multiple avatars Creating a future is a combination of two things- you got to have a vision and secondly, you've got to have iron-clad rituals, because vision without rituals will not manifest People are a product of experiences, but experiences have a shelf life too Intentional choices are as important as chance encounters Let risk be your best friend Keep asking what is not serving me and actively make it a habit to eliminate it The choice of place and surroundings we make charts out our life Invest in learning- it might cash you greater returns than you expect Paying attention to that creative dissatisfaction is the route to finding your #SecondAct Why should you listen to this podcast: Life is too short to wonder about all the choices we didn't make, wouldn't you agree? Making a switch in career might seem scary, especially when it nudges us out of our comfort zones. What then should one do when the ‘why' of their existence spins about in their minds? It is questions like this that we've tried to address in this podcast. You might not magically discover your ‘why' but we hope that you find the road that takes you towards discovering it. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/iiact/message
Hi Guys and Gals!Meet Evacheska de'Angelis - Healing Intuitive, Mindfulness Practitioner, & Spiritual GuideWe dove right in on this episode and started talking about the sacred plant and brew ayahuasca. The spirit of the plant opens gateways in our consciousness, when drunk ceremonially, under the guidance of a trained shaman. One can learn astonishing new ways of perceiving reality and one's relationship to reality. The Conversation Starts at 7:35A little bit about Evacheska....Based out of New York, Evacheska has dedicated her energy and life's work to creating and holding space for the facilitation of healing and expansion. She leverages her multisensory perception abilities to create distinctive experiences focused on supporting each participant's internal work. She is a certified Mindfulness and Meditation facilitator, Integrative Coach, Trauma and Somatics Practitioner, and Psych-K® facilitator. From a very young age, she has been aware of energetic fields, and her deep intuition and sensitivity have been passed down from mother to daughter as the first born of the first born for many generations. While she greatly learned how to hold space from intimately observing her parents' work in similar fields, she is currently expanding her knowledge base via the pursuit of a degree in psychology at CUNY, as well as continuing her ongoing studies of the power of plant medicines, of which she has worked with many. Incorporated into the work of Sotto Luce is the belief in the intersection of spirituality and science: that which we can see and that which we can not. Evacheska and the Sotto Luce team currently lead seminars on Quantum Time Manifestation, and Harnessing Personal Power, and Mindfulness Meditation and Medicine Music circles. Within the Sotto Luce offerings, you can also find Women's Circles and Men's Circles focused on Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine embodiment, respectively. Evacheska also offers one-on-one guidance through Zoom, and in-person guidance for deeper Psyche-Spiritual ceremonial work. No matter how she is engaging in her work, her fundamental belief is that each individual has the power to heal themselves. Therefore, the purpose of Sotto Luce is simply to act as a conduit, supporting and guiding the innate transformational energies within us all.Evacheska's Website: https://www.templesottoluce.com/temple-homeThe Jai Sugrim Method Podcast is sponsored by Commons CBDI use commons cbd daily to reduce exercise induced inflammation, as well as for good sleep. What happens when life delivers a message so loud, so clear that you have no choice but to take heed? It is rare to get a message that clear, and to some extent, you need to be open to hearing it. My guest on the show is Neil Seligman, A mindfulness coach, author and public speaker. But as you heard in the intro, he had a sudden realization that the career he had chosen was the wrong place for his star to rise. Getting on in the legal profession is a long road; in Neil's case, it was five years of study and eight years in practice as a Civil Law Barrister. For those not familiar with the British legal system, that means he gets to wear a wig and black gown. Giving it all up to be a Mindfulness Practitioner before that word had any meaning was a big step into the unknown. As a young man, Neil was academic; it came easy to him. At university, he loved acting, sports and living life. But he was shepherded into the legal profession as it was more lucrative than acting and very similar, (say I, with a smile on my face). But as I mentioned before, you must be open to change to hear the message and Neil was not a stranger to the alternative sector. He discovered Reiki healing in his teens and went on to become a Reiki master way before he was a barrister. So he was already bridging two worlds when he heard the message and decided to leave. But changing from what is seen to be a solid career does raise questions. He had to confront all the preconceptions from family and friends, as well as his own thoughts and feelings around money, identity and meaning. In our conversation, we explore Neil's journey and the soul searching he went through to find his path. Join me for this conversation with Neil Seligman. Can psychedelic therapy help depression? We are now in the middle of the first psychedelic resurgence since the last bout of research in the 60's and 70's led by legends of the psychedelic movement like Dr. Stan Grof at Harvard. This resurgence is taking place on two fronts: Firstly, following promising results from Imperial College's Psidep 1 study into the use of Psilocybin, the active ingredient in Magic Mushrooms, to treat treatment-resistant depression; there has been a host of studies around the world at leading universities like Harvard investigating many other compounds as well as Psilocybin like famous rave drug MDMA and horse tranquilliser Ketamine. This is an odd turn of events for compounds that have been systematically demonised by governments and accused of worsening mental health conditions. Secondly, we are seeing a a massive increase in the participation of Ahyuasca rituals, whose active ingredient is DMT, one of the most hallucinogenic compounds in the world, to the point that it has become a fashion among the funky philosophical Burning Man style community. The world of medicine and personal transformation seem to be converging. But we need a specialist to clarify the details here before we get ahead of ourselves. So who better to help us navigate this new territory than assistant psychologist on Imperial's most recent psilocybin study, Ashleigh Murphy Beiner. Ashleigh Murphy-Beiner is a Trainee Clinical Psychologist and Mindfulness Practitioner. She is a member of the Psychedelic Research Group at Imperial College London. She is also a scientific researcher and has published research investigating the therapeutic use of ayahuasca. Her research has found changes in mindfulness and cognitive flexibility after ayahuasca use which both play a role in psychological wellbeing. LORI HOSTS A CASUAL CHAT WITH CO-MODERATOR/COACHES CINDI & REBEKAH TO TALK ALL THINGS INTIMACY. CINDI ROBERTS Sex and sobriety - a pretty unique combination and a topic that many people avoid. After finding recovery from alcohol in November 2016, I struggled with how to combine my professional experience in sexuality education and my newfound passion for helping women on their sober journey. Why weren't women talking about sex in the meeting rooms? Was I the only one struggling with confidence in the bedroom without the mask of alcohol? The more I started the conversations, the more women opened up. So many women are navigating intimate relationships in sobriety and have concerns, questions and fear. That's when I realized that talking about sex openly is a gift and I wanted to share my knowledge with the recovery community! My clients would describe me as a positive motivator, attentive listener and gentle teacher that also tells it like it is. I want to focus on the future while acknowledging your past and helping you move through the difficult stuff. I know it can be scary or difficult to ask for help and to open up your world to another person. Knowing this, I take special care to provide a relaxed, supportive and non-judgemental space for you. I have been devoted to serving the public health community for over 20 years. After earning my Master's degree in Health Education, I knew that I wanted to specialize in the field of human sexuality and help shatter the taboo around the gift of sex. I worked in the community health setting and the hospital system and gained more public health knowledge with each new endeavor. For 13 years, I built a prosperous $2.6 million business in the network marketing industry. I not only had one of the largest teams in the multi-million dollar company, but I served on the esteemed Board of Directors for 8 years. In this position, I was able to train thousands of consultants in sexual health education and product knowledge (yep, we sold sex toys!) I retired from the company in 2016 to create my dream job of motivational speaking and sexual health consulting. My zone of genius was (and still is) helping individuals feel more confident about their own sexuality and intimate relationships. In 2018, I decided to earn my certificate as a Certified Professional Coach and Certified Professional Recovery Coach from the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches. I also completed the She Recovers Coaching program to help women in recovery from a variety of issues. So, I talk about sex, alcohol, grief, divorce, intimacy.... all of it! REBEKAH ROSE WALL On my journey of healing and recovery, I realized that self-care isn't just about activities or events that make you feel good. It has to do with how you speak to yourself, loving yourself and cultivating things like Grace Courage Confidence Boundaries Worthiness Authenticity Enough-ness Self-Acceptance Self-Compassion It's also about cultivating community and joyful relationships. It's about taking our yoga off that mat, and living it each and everyday. Which is what inspired me to create this space, a space to cultivate a lifestyle that awakens your innate ability to befriend your body, bring peace to your heart and stillness to your mind. When she went looking, she didn't need a parenting coach. she didn't need a therapist. she needed a life coach who got the struggles she was going through. Unfortunately, she couldn't find any. This was a gap she saw in the current structure. So she decided to fill that gap and support other women and moms who were experiencing similar struggles. She decided to make it her mission to help mothers find their strength so that they can show up for themselves and their families the way they want to. She is the founder of Surviving the Waiting Room @survivingthewaitingroom and in this episode she talks about how she became a coach and how she balances caring for the needs of her family and herself, while building a business that supports others.Make sure to tune in and have a listen.
