Mairead, the creatrix behind Bonnie Medicine, is a singer, song weaver, and medicine musician from the ‘Bonnie' isles of Scotland. Rooted deeply in her Celtic heritage and a profound connection to story and place, her music is a prayer—an offering of freedom, unity and truth, inviting us into remembrance and harmony with all beings.Over a year ago, Mairead's music became a core thread of the Rooted Healing Podcast, weaving its way through many episodes and into the audio chapters of our year-long course, Deepen Your Roots. It was a joy to finally meet her in person at our Ancestral Gathering last year, where she brought her fiery, vibrant Scottish spirit. Her passion for ancestral life-ways is utterly contagious, and her devotion to the songful, ancestral path is something we deeply respect. This episode is woven with songs from Mairead's newly released EP, Belonging, alongside a piece from her previous album, Wide Open. Welcome back to the Psychedelic Therapy Podcast. I'm your host, Eamon Armstrong. Today on the show, we're welcoming back Tony Moss. Tony is an artist, producer, and member of the Bird Tribe Music Collective. He is also an ayahuasca facilitator with 30 years of experience and has just released a new album, Joy. In today's conversation, we discuss the magic and science of medicine music. We talk about the state of medicine work in 2024, why psychedelics change the way we hear music, and the difference between an Icaro, a medicine song, and other genres. We also explore the hymns of Santa Daime, Tony's gospel-inspired music, and his new album, Joy, which turns unexpected genres into medicine music. Tony is a recording artist, producer, and creative director. Born into a musical family of R&B gospel singers, he was raised in California's psychedelic and spiritual cultures. Inspired by over 25 years of working with plant medicines, Tony combines science, shamanism, and multiple music genres to create music dubbed "Soulful Ceremonial." As broadcast October 5, 2023 with plenty of love left over for all buskers everywhere. Tonight we had another pair of exclusive interviews with current contestants at this year's Gwangju Busking World Cup. First up is a very talented singer-songwriter in Daisy Chute, an American-British singer-songwriter born in Scotland now based in London. Her playlist is a collection of artists she works with and respects highly, a collection of gorgeous organic indie folk and ambient orchestral soundscapes. For hour 2, we welcomed an internationalist quartet based in Barcelona in S. Taki, who are led by Sergio Taki and accompanied by Nacho Padron, Diego Gonzalez, and Tommy Min. All the members hail from different places in the world but work with one heart and mind, creating a multi-genre cumbia-centered sound in their work. Great discussions with both of these very talented artists to watch out for at this year's Busking World Cup!#feelthegravityBusking World Cup 2023 Special #22023.10.05Tracklist (st:rt)Part 1 with Daisy Chute (00:00)Daisy Chute – Lion Eyesmidori jaeger – Breeze (Acoustic)Hannah White – Chains of OursMichele Stodart – Push & PullLady Nade – Everything Is FreeJacob Koopman – Ego Part 2 (37:30)Daisy Chute feat Hannah Brine – Spirit of the Singers (Live)Beth Nielsen Chapman – This KissLara Eidi – SunFern Maddie – Ca' the YowesFlo Perlin – BaghdadMatt Kent feat Daisy Chute – Fly to You Part 3 with S. Notes: Songs can be career counselors, harmonizing means you don't have to memorize words, if you don't like to sing alone, then singing with others can unlock your voice, how to leave space for people, how to become a found family (food is involved) -- what other ideas might VoiceExchange have to share with you? This quintet of singers improvised their way through the pandemic -- learn how they honed their ability to play even when geographically distant (and hear an example at the very end, created on the fly with Zoom faces and Jacktrip sound). Improvisation can be a weird and wonderful world -- a chance to hear the unexpected. The song they shared is a tree speaking... and what a beautiful sense of embrace it creates. Songwriter Info: VoiceExchange initially formed as a practice group following a 2012 Bobby McFerrin Circlesongs workshop. As singers from disparate musical influences, they came together, connecting through a shared passion for vocal improvisation, and formed a unique a cappella group that blends diverse vocal styles into spontaneous harmonious arrangements. During the challenges of the pandemic VoiceExchange began a series of sequentially recorded collaborations for leading online circles. This resulted in a library of recordings, among them, Touch the Sky and Take My Hand. VoiceExchange members are Amado Ohland, Beth Lyons, Dina Torok, Joy Truskowski and Paris Kern. They can be found leading Circlesinging events in Maryland, Virginia, Massachusetts & Vermont as well as offering online and in-person workshops and providing spontaneous music to churches, temples and other community gatherings. Amado Ohland began his semi-professional career as a jazz and blues vocalist shortly after graduating University of Maryland at College Park with a bachelor's in music composition and theory. He attended his first Circlesongs workshop in 2011, and has been leading circlesinging events since 2013 in Washington DC, Pittsburgh, and western Virginia. He has recently received a master's degree in music from Radford University. For his doctoral dissertation he is working on a participatory ethnography of circlesinging worldwide and a song cycle of pieces based on circlesinging techniques. Born into a musical family, Beth Lyons actually can't remember a ‘before' time when singing-in-community wasn't a part of her life. She currently performs improvised musicals with iMusical, the house musical improv team for Washington Improv Theater, performs and leads Circles with VoiceExchange, and leads online immersive Song Dive workshops and a Monday morning online choir named Coffee Choir. You can learn more about her offerings and sign up for her “Heads Up” notification/invite list at www.RiverChoir.org. Dina Torok has sung in and been musical director for various a cappella groups from college through adulthood. She was a professional film and television session singer, performed in various pop/rock bands in Los Angeles, and recorded an original solo album and a piano/vocal album of show tunes. Dina found VoiceExchange and circle singing in 2015 and has been a grateful member ever since. Joy Truskowski is a singer-songwriter and community songleader. She has performed as a solo artist in the Roanoke, VA area for 13 years. You can find her original songs on Bandcamp under the name “Joy Tru”. She started Star City Circlesinging in 2019 and has been leading circles with other co-leaders in Roanoke ever since. During the beginning of the pandemic she started contributing to VoiceExchange's online circles. She fell in love with all of them, and they all asked her to marry them. She said, “I can't marry you, but I'll join your group!” And that was a fair compromise. So she officially joined in the summer of 2021. Paris Kern started performing traditional folk music at coffeehouses and concerts when she was 16 years old. She studied classical vocal performance in college, but her heart was always in the world of pure traditional folk traditions. In 2011, for reasons unknown to her, she was internally compelled to attend Bobby McFerrin's CIrclesongs workshop. Feeling like a fish out of water, surrounded by mostly Jazz musicians, she nonetheless was hooked by the magic of Circlesongs and the sensation that her heart was being sung back to her. She has been leading circles in Washington DC, and Baltimore and is now starting circles in Southern Vermont. Sharing Info: VoiceExchange would love to know if you plan to teach or perform Touch the Sky or another of their songs; drop them a line at info@VoiceExchange.org. And if teaching/performing their song is a profitable business for you, please share a bit of the profit with them via their donation link at https://voiceexchange.org. How to move from the darkness to the light, protect yourself, and find forgiveness in the trauma; a path to healing and liberation with master shaman Don William. Don William Llerena Murayari, COCAMA – PERUis a Peruvian Curandero of the Cocama lineage. He grew up learning first hand of the medicinal plants of the jungle through his father and grandfather, who were both Curanderos. From the age of 12, William was helping his father, Santiago Llerena, who was primarily a Vegetelista, make remedies for people who were sick in his village. Now he is a highly respected Curandero with over 30 years of experience working with the plants and has had the opportunity to grow communities and bring healing to many people across the globe. He has a unique style, and is a clear channel for the medicine, working with much integrity, humility and compassion. His musical mastery and exquisite visionary paintings are true examples of his profound connection. William says, “the songs that I sing in the healing ceremonies are the fruits of the work with the medicines. That is why when i sing the Icaros, the language of the plants, we can connect directly with the spirit world, entering profoundly until the heart of the earth, the rivers and outer space.”Discover more @iluminamedicina

Music can have such a transformational quality that when todays guest, medicine music artist Floramor, opens up to its intelligence she becomes a conduit for its creative energies to move though her. These inspired songs create resonant vibrations and frequencies activate the body's energies in the direction of balance, creating positive energy and ultimately better health. By channeling higher energy frequencies, a person's vibrations can be raised and their energy reset.Floramor could always sing. And saw herself performing on stage. Nevertheless it took her 20 years of transformational personal work (including 6 years as an ashramite, devoted entirely to a monastic path of yoga), before she was ready to call herself a “singer” and a “musician”.Her career took off with the success of a unique band Mantra Tribe, that has been performing at major spiritual festivals in Europe since 2016 and created its own genre, a tribal ecstatic mantra music. Here, Floramor lives her incarnation as a “rock star”, channeling the crazy, transformative energy of Goddess Kali on stage and in her compositions, that she creates with the band. www.mantra-tribe.de ways to remember, who we are.Since 2017 she has been on a synergistic path merging creatively the elements of her tantric and yogic experience with the plant medicine work, learning from different shamanic traditions of Central and South-America and channeling music. Floramor sees and honors the One Spirit behind all different traditions, serving the unfolding of the new consciousness on the planet. ‘Together the songs are weaving a vision of harmony and I am deeply grateful to offer them a space, where they can display their delightful beauty'. Shamanic work, cacao ritual, medicine music, mantra, yoga and aho! - the spiritual scene (New Age scene) is full of offers and expressions that are culturally appropriating. What is an authentic spirituality in harmony with our ancestors? In this eye-opening conversation social activist, author and artist Pegi Eyers is sharing with us - what cultural appropriation is - why it is harmful and probably the opposite of what people on the spiritual path intend - what alternatives could be and how to restore healthy culture - why it is so wonderful to connect deeper with your ancestors and ways to find your authentic spirituality With many practical examples and questions from my life. For example - the meaning of the word „shaman“ - singing songs from other cultures - using expressions such as „mitakuye oyasin“ - how to speak up when witnessing cultural appropriation? Speaking with Pegi has given me a lot of hope, and curiosity to connect deeper with my ancestors. At the same time, understanding more about cultural appropriation has really shaken me, stirred up uncomfortable feelings of shame, guilt and grief. So be prepared if those feelings arise for you too. It is part of the process! Please reach out to me whenever you feel like sharing something, let me know what you are taking from this conversation and what it inspires in you, what questions arise etc. More about Pegi, her book „Ancient spirit rising“ and her blog: www.stonecirclepress.com You can contact Pegi via email: pegi-eyers@hotmail.com The book Pegi mentioned was: Robert Moss - Dream ways of the Iroquois Much love Amelie amelie@voice-of-nature.de www.voice-of-nature.de

We covered a lot of ground in this one, beginning with his start in the Detroit indie music scene, his initiation into the peyote and ayahuasca medicine paths, why his brand of spiritual music isn't "cheezy", the spiritual technology of ikaros (ayahuasca healing songs) and the beauty of collaborating with his wife Indy. He's got a new album coming out in August called The Talon, and I highly recommend checking out his first album as Santiparro called True Prayer, which is one of my all time favourites and one of the few "spiritual" albums that doesn't make me cringe.Connect with Santiparro at http://santiparro.com and http://highpalmshealing.comMusic: "Rainbow in the Night" & "Now Act Now" both by Santiparro See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information. Una nota: para ver las notas del programa en español para este episodio, visite mi sitio web a: https://www.universewithinpodcast.com/podcast/alonso-del-rioHey everybody! Episode 83 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with Alonso del Rio. I had heard about Alonso for a number of years and two of my friends spoke very highly of him. Alonso is an ayahuasquero who lives and works in the Sacred Valley of Peru and has a medicine center, Ayahuasca Ayllu. He also wrote a very good book called Tawantinsuyo 5.0. I knew Alonso had a lot of wisdom to share and this interview lived up to my hope. Alonso has been immersed in this work for over forty years and is one of the first people I know to have worked with the Shipibo people. That experience and wisdom are evident when Alonso speaks, being able to bridge the world of plants to the daily world and to be able to bridge many concepts into ideas that are easy to understand. To me, this is a sign of wisdom and it was a pleasure and honor to have Alonso share in this deep conversation. Thank you to my friend Bruno Morey for the translation. The video version of the interview has subtitles while the audio version has English translation. As always, to support this podcast, get early access to shows, bonus material, and Q&As, check out my Patreon page below. Enjoy!Alonso del Río, lived in the jungle for 13 years following the training of a traditional healer under the guidance of Don Benito Arévalo, one of the most recognized Onaya Shipibo (medicine man), who died in 2005 at age 84.After learning the traditional songs of medicine shared by his teacher, he receives his own songs and introduces the use of the guitar in ceremonies, creating a sacred bridge between cultures and creating a new musical genre called Medicine Music. On the other hand his studies on comparative religions and ancestral spirituality led him to develop a proposal based on solid bases and perfectly adequate to today's seeker. His research is captured in two books called "Tawantinsuyp 5.0" and "The Four Altars" and in several documentaries on sacred plants ("Urpillay Sonqollay", "The Medicine of Forgiveness").To date he has published ten albums sharing the music he uses in his ceremoniesTo learn more about Alonso, visit his website at: https://www.ayahuasca-ayllu.comFor more information about me and my upcoming plant medicine retreats with my colleague Merav Artzi, visit my site at: https://www.NicotianaRustica.orgSupport this podcast on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/UniverseWithin Donate directly with PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/jasongrechanik Music courtesy of: Nuno Moreno (end song). Hi Guys and Gals!Meet Evacheska de'Angelis - Healing Intuitive, Mindfulness Practitioner, & Spiritual GuideWe dove right in on this episode and started talking about the sacred plant and brew ayahuasca. The spirit of the plant opens gateways in our consciousness, when drunk ceremonially, under the guidance of a trained shaman. One can learn astonishing new ways of perceiving reality and one's relationship to reality. The Conversation Starts at 7:35A little bit about Evacheska....Based out of New York, Evacheska has dedicated her energy and life's work to creating and holding space for the facilitation of healing and expansion. She leverages her multisensory perception abilities to create distinctive experiences focused on supporting each participant's internal work. She is a certified Mindfulness and Meditation facilitator, Integrative Coach, Trauma and Somatics Practitioner, and Psych-K® facilitator. From a very young age, she has been aware of energetic fields, and her deep intuition and sensitivity have been passed down from mother to daughter as the first born of the first born for many generations. While she greatly learned how to hold space from intimately observing her parents' work in similar fields, she is currently expanding her knowledge base via the pursuit of a degree in psychology at CUNY, as well as continuing her ongoing studies of the power of plant medicines, of which she has worked with many. Incorporated into the work of Sotto Luce is the belief in the intersection of spirituality and science: that which we can see and that which we can not. Evacheska and the Sotto Luce team currently lead seminars on Quantum Time Manifestation, and Harnessing Personal Power, and Mindfulness Meditation and Medicine Music circles. Within the Sotto Luce offerings, you can also find Women's Circles and Men's Circles focused on Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine embodiment, respectively. Evacheska also offers one-on-one guidance through Zoom, and in-person guidance for deeper Psyche-Spiritual ceremonial work. No matter how she is engaging in her work, her fundamental belief is that each individual has the power to heal themselves. Therefore, the purpose of Sotto Luce is simply to act as a conduit, supporting and guiding the innate transformational energies within us all.Evacheska's Website: https://www.templesottoluce.com/temple-homeThe Jai Sugrim Method Podcast is sponsored by Commons CBDI use commons cbd daily to reduce exercise induced inflammation, as well as for good sleep. I was lucky enough to stumble upon Rasmus through Darren Austin Hall from our last episode. And since then, I have been a regular attendee at the Medicine Song Circles that Rasmus hosts and organized for free for the community in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica every Wednesday. Suddenly, this has become one of the highlight of my week, and perhaps one of the highlights of my last 4 months in Costa Rica. It's difficult to explain rationally what one gets from getting together with others and singing medicine songs. I for one never thought of music as "medicine", yet getting together with Rasmus and singing together with him, has been one of the most beautifully healing things for my heart. It truly has been my medicine, as I originally set out to Costa Rica to re-learn to open my heart and be able to fully give and receive love. Rasmus has an incredibly unique story totally worth of sharing, yet he shares it in a very nonchalant manner. The work he has done through plant medicine and self-exploration is instantly clear and palpable. He embodies humility more so than anyone I've met, and is indeed endowed with a beautiful gift of song that we are fortunate to witness in this episode. I feel very fortunate to call Rasmus a friend and a brother. I'm happy that you get to meet him here, and grateful that you get to listen to some of his singing here as well. Snowflake’s music is dedicated to awakening the heart and evolving our collective actions — to help preserve our planet.Snowflake (aka Emily Richards) explores trails less traveled, whether hiking a mountain or sharing her songs. At the turn of the millenium, Emily was one of the first artists to make music available for download or streaming. With over 2 million unique downloads, she was the most popular artist on MP3.com, and headlined their 50-city tour — where 100 bands opened for her across the United States and Canada. During this tour, tragedy struck when Emily’s little sister Annie was killed by a drunk driver. And that changed everything.Dedicating her art to something deeper, Emily recreated herself again and again — until Madam Snowflake emerged like a butterfly from a chrysalis. Singing a message of harmony, with our planet and one another, Snowflake felt compelled to share her music in new ways. ccMixter.org, an international community of musicians, has become Snowflake’s musical platform and creative home. Vaccines have had a long course through history, starting in their formation in the 2010s and going through their upcoming 5th studio album. But we talk a lot more about medical vaccines in this episode - Join us for a tour through the history of vaccines, from ancient Chinese approaches to inoculation against smallpox to the current crop of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines. None of this is medical or musical advice, but its sure a fun ride. As The Vaccines lead singer might say, it's gonna be a nitroglycerin fueled romp. If you feel like understanding that reference, listen to the episode!
A smooth blessing of an episode. Niko talks about "getting well" which is the phrase used for purging, vomiting, shaking, sweating during a plant medicine ceremony. What would happen if you could help others with your art and be successful in life by doing what you like? In this wonderful and fraternal conversation with Manuel Villaescusa, we inquire about how Ayahuasca leads to release your potential and find your life purpose. He also tells us about his about 20 year´s journey with Ayahuasca in learning from different traditions of Latin America, his work with drug addicts in the jungle of Peru and his development as a musicologist applying mantras and Ícaros to his patients. Also, for the first time in this podcast, I had the opportunity to share views with a colleague on the new participation of science in the world of Plan Medicine, the entry of pharmaceutical companies and the challenges presented to us as healers and ambassadors of this medicine in the western culture. A brief bio about Manuel Villaescusa: he is a clinical psychologist and researcher of the use of ayahuasca, an amazonian visionary brew, as a practice for psychospiritual growth. As a musician, he has learned from the many spiritual traditions that use music as a way of celebrating life and experience the divine within us, as mantra chanting and shamanic singing from all over the world. He has recorded 5 albums with the bands Ocno and Freedom Café. He has received teachings from many different ayahuasca traditions, amongst them the Santo Daime Brazilian church and the amazonian Shuar indians, with whom he was initiated in the Natemamo rite of passage. Since 1998 he has been working with and learning from curanderos and healers from Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia. He has 20 years of experience leading plant medicine retreats internationally. Aho Brothers & Sisters, Here is a short introduction to this Podcast series. In this little welcome, I speak of reclaiming and awakening our own connection to Sound & Music as lived by our ancestors, as existing in our DNA, as a reality for us all to participate in fully! This is the intent of the podcast - to demystify, consider & celebrate Sacred Sound & Medicine Music within the heritage and present expression of humanity.
There are many perspectives and pathways to awakening, knowledge and success, and sometimes it's hard to know which way to go. Some traditions ask us to focus on transcendence, meditate in stillness, exhale anger and inhale love. Others ask us to go down and in, to find an opening through our embodied deepening and to alchemize our darker emotions. In today's episode, Zoe Eccles and I talk about bridging the masculine and feminine pathways to awakening, science and mysticism, intellectual and embodied knowledge. Zoe is a storyteller, historian and photographer. She is engaged in a lifelong journey, both through the physical world, which she travels, living for parts of the year on the road, and through the world of thought. Her current projects cover a vast area, as she aims to bridge various disciplines and fields: the scientific, the historic and the spiritual; the literary and the photographic; to find a larger story that will spark a change in society. **Please note that the Patreon bonus has changed since I recorded the intro. Zoe is now granting our patrons (at the $5/month rosebud level and up) FREE access to her online mindfulness course BE, which is usually priced at $110. It is a beautiful four-part course filled with information, poems, journal prompts, audio meditations and videos.** WHAT WE COVER: - how Zoe's blogs and businesses "life gazing" and "earth being" were created - returning to true presence in the day and age of social media: living first, storytelling second - the various pathways of awakening: how the "upward" path of ascension and transcendence needs to be balanced by the "down and inward" return to the earth and embodiment - facing our humanity: balancing our inner angel and our animal instincts - the reconciliation of masculine science and feminine mystery and embodied gnosis - finding the beauty in difference and dualism as the foundation of our existence - the big bang, nothingness and the fertile womb - today's medicine song: >> Molten Starry Skies

Santiparro, aka Alan Scheurman is someone who I've been crossing paths with for a long time without actually meeting, so it was a real pleasure to finally sit down and connect with him. He's got a new album coming out in August called The Talon, and I highly recommend checking out his first album as Santiparro called True Prayer, which is one of my all time favourites and one of the few "spiritual" albums that doesn't make me cringe.Connect with Santiparro at http://santiparro.com and http://highpalmshealing.comMusic: "Rainbow in the Night" & "Now Act Now" both by SantiparroAbout Brian JamesBrian James is a yoga teacher, musician and artist currently living in Montréal, Canada. Txai Fernando and Bastiaan Kamãvena – two fellows, two gifted multi-instrumentalists, two beautiful souls with a shared musical vision. They are specialized in "medicinal music", and Astral Flowers is a fruition of their musical collaboration. Txai Fernando and Bastiaan draw from Amazonian traditions, and through both learning the songs directly from their origins, as well as through their own personal transformations they have become embodiments of medicinal music. I could go on trying to describe how that quality is carried in their music and performances, but it would be kind of useless – it is a personal experience anyway. This episode was recorded in late summer of 2017 during their visit to Finland, when they also had a concert in Helsinki. For various reasons it sat on a shelf until now – late November '17. However the conversation is still very topical, and we are also getting close to the release of Astral Flowers' first album, so the timing is quite right! I haven't really listened to it so I can't recall a lot of it, but we hear about Txai Fernando's and Bastiaan's backgrounds, both in general and in musical sense, how they met and started playing and making music together and what it means to them. I was amused to find out that –being the same generation– we all have listened to the same skate punk and metal bands in our youth! I would have never guessed, as these two brothers seem as if they've lived they whole lives to the soul soothing music they now create and pass on. But hey, Txai Fernando's first band was called Dr. Alcohol, and I suppose diverse background only adds to their sense of music, expression and skills. Listen to the whole story in the episode, and enjoy the inserted samples of their music too! - Ville Tracks: 1. Pacha Mama (excerpt) 2. New Paradigm 3.
