As teenagers, The Wolf & Action Jackson dreamed of seeing Led Zeppelin live. However, the boys came of age in the 1980s after the band had broken up following the death of John Bonham. They were forced to live with ill-fated one-off reunions like Live Aid, Atlantic Records 40th and Knebworth. While they jumped at the chance to see Page/Plant in the mid-90s doing reworked versions of Zeppelin classics, they knew it would never be the same as a proper Led Zeppelin concert back in the day. On this 27th edition of First Concert Memories, the monthly sidecast from the hosts of The Ugly American Werewolf in London Rock Podcast, the boys are psyched to speak with Tony Michaelides. Tony had the rare privilege to see Led Zeppelin as a teenager in Manchester right before they blasted their way to superstardom. He tells the story of Robert Plant inviting him backstage to meet the rest of the guys in the band after the show and how having a signed Zeppelin poster made him the talk of the school yard that next week. However, this was actually just the beginning of Tony going backstage and interacting with artists as he would eventually have a 4 decade career in the music biz working with such luminaries as David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Steve Winwood and more. Tony has gone on to write books about his experience in the industry and hosts a podcast, Moments That Rock, which share some of his amazing stories from over the years. We may not always be able to keep him on point but we do talk a bit about the show, Zeppelin's place in history and how the industry has changed over the years. A fun chat with a true rock veteran! More 80s goodness on deck, Slackers! The 1980s were a springboard for musicians who left chart-topping bands to chase solo stardom, often outshining their former groups with blockbuster success. This episode explores artists who turned band fame into iconic solo careers, surpassing their groups' album sales with hits that defined the decade.Going solo was a bold move. Some swapped gritty rock for sleek pop, others wove in soulful R&B or forged entirely new sounds. Their debut albums were massively successful, with singles that dominated radio and MTV, becoming instant anthems for a generation. What's even crazier is that many of these artists sold millions more records than their former bands, crafting music that captured the 1980s spirit. From stadium rock to heartfelt ballads, their songs were everywhere - literally everywhere if your name is Phil Collins. And he wasn't the only one to spawn from Genesis!Yet, not every artist's solo leap soared. Why did some “sure-thing” talents stumble? Was their style shift too bold, or did their solo vision lack the spark of their band's collective magic? I'm looking at you, Robert Plant!

Katie Couric pokes fun at Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle ad in a new PSA for colon cancer screenings. The clip opens to a close-up of Katie wearing a jean jacket, and quickly pans out to show she's wearing a hospital gown underneath, and she's on a gurney getting ready for a colonoscopy. She tells the camera, quote, "Speaking of genes. Did you know that the majority of people who develop colon cancer are not genetically predisposed to the disease? That's why doctors recommend everyone 45 and older get checked." Katie told "People" magazine, quote, "That ad showed how pop culture and a pair of jeans could really shape the cultural conversation, it was everywhere. It was a moment in time, and we thought, 'Why don't we ride that horse a little bit longer and have some fun with it?'" It'sbeen 25 years since Katie became the first person in history to broadcast a colonoscopy on national TV. She lost her husband to colon cancer in 1998. He was only 42. One of the most famous homes in American history is opening its doors to the public for the first time ever. The "Brady Bunch" house in North Hollywood will be accessible to fans on November 7th, 8th, and 9th. And while bookings are sold out, you can register to be on a waitlist, or be notified if additional dates become available. When the show was in production back in the day, the house was only used for EXTERIOR shots. The inside of the Brady home was created on a soundstage, and the inside of the actual house looked nothing like it. But HGTV bought the house in 2018, and renovated it so that it DOES match the house from the show. And of course, they recorded it for a series called "A Very Brady Renovation". Alyssa Milano, now 52, announced on Instagram that she underwent surgery to remove her breast implants—calling it a step toward reclaiming her body. Sacha Baron Cohen, 53, has been spotted on a dinner date with 27-year-old OnlyFans creator Hannah Palmer, just months after finalizing his $75 million divorce from Isla Fisher. Page SixThe pair were seen leaving the restaurant separately before getting into the same Cadillac Escalade. Page Six+1Sources say they first met at Taika Waititi's 50th birthday party in Ibiza, with Rita Ora reportedly introducing them. Although the age gap raised eyebrows, insiders say they “seemed to be getting on really well.” Page Six+1Cohen and Fisher married in 2010, share three children, and announced their split in 2024 before finalizing the divorce this past June. Action legend Chuck Norris, now 85, marked his birthday by hiking Lassen Peak in Northern California—a strenuous trail rising to 10,457 feet. The round-trip journey spans about 5 miles and climbs 2,000 feet, often taking 4 to 5 hours to complete. Robert Plant on his journey from Led Zeppelin to his latest album of folk songs. Creator of V for Vendetta and Watchmen, Alan Moore is probably the world's most acclaimed writer of comic books, a medium he now eschews. Moving into novels, he has explored his hometown Northampton in widely praised work like Jerusalem, but his latest - The Great When - is an otherworldly exploration of literary London, inspired by the psychogeography of Iain SInclair and horror writing of Arthur Machen. From Seurat to Van Gogh, we mark a new exhibition at the National Gallery with a dive into the entrancing light and pontillist glow of the neo-impressionists. Co-curator Julien Domercq and art expert Anthea Callen are on to discuss. With the National Short Story Awards approaching, we speak to shortlisted author Emily Abdeni-Holman about her entry, Yair.

Vic henley, Iliza Shlesinger, Stangel brothers, Dennis Falcone 3/23In this hilarious and eclectic episode of the Opie Radio podcast, host Opie teams up with comedians Vic Henley and Iliza Shlesinger for a wild ride through music, vermin, and modern absurdities. The trio kicks off with a deep dive into Rolling Stones trivia, revealing the reggae roots of "Start Me Up" and the scrapped tracks behind Tattoo You, while Opie shares epic tales of meeting Mick Jagger and Robert Plant. Breakfast banter takes a turn as they debate chicken and waffles, oatmeal health hacks, and a quirky painting destined for celebrity signatures. Iliza brings her sharp humor, discussing her upcoming Tonight Show appearance, her dog Blanch's adventures, and her Instagram stalking of a shrimp-obsessed nobody. The conversation gets wild with a viral video about New York City's rat-hunting dog club, sparking debates on rat evolution, raccoon cuteness, and disturbing “smash cuts” of dogs shaking rats. From a raccoon losing its cotton candy to Bills fans getting frisky in a parking lot, this episode is a chaotic blend of nostalgia, animal antics, and comedic rants that perfectly captures the Friday vibe. Tune in for laughs, bizarre stories, and a peek into the minds of comedy greats. The final year of my radio journey holds a special place in my heart, made even more poignant by the loss of my cherished friends, Carl Ruiz and Vic Henley. Amidst the chaos and challenges, we found endless moments of hilarity and camaraderie. Alongside Carl, Vic, and Sherrod Small, we shared unforgettable experiences both on and off the airwaves, our tight-knit bond shining through every episode. That year also marked Carl Ruiz's meteoric rise to stardom, inspiring me to launch the Opie Radio podcast with him. Episode 84: Dave Weckl One of the most influential drummers of all time, today's guest is the legend, Dave Weckl. From his legendary years with Chick Corea's Elektric Band and Akoustic Band to his groundbreaking solo debut Master Plan, to his session work with Simon & Garfunkel, Nile Rodgers, George Benson, Mike Stern, Robert Plant, Madonna, and more, his drumming has defined modern fusion and inspired generations worldwide. This is the Dave Weckl deep dive! Two and a half hours long, intimate, honest, and open. Dave shares stories about his early breaks with Nite Sprite, French Toast, and landing the Simon & Garfunkel Reunion Tour that put him on the map. We dig into his days as a first-call New York session player in the 80s, and go deep inside his years with Chick Corea, from writing records like “Got a Match?” to how the Grammy-winning Akoustic Band came together, as Dave reflects on what made Chick so special as a bandleader. We talk about his solo career beginning with Master Plan, his longtime collaborations with Jay Oliver and Mike Stern, and studying with Freddie Gruber even at the height of his career. Dave has always pushed himself to grow as a player. We discuss how he created his signature Dave Weckl Vic Firth drumsticks, his Sabian Evolution and Legacy cymbal lines, and what led him to being the first person to put holes in cymbals. We talk about the Dave Weckl Band, teaching through his online school, and the importance of making musical choices on the drums rather than just displaying technique. This episode is packed with stories, insight, advice, and inspiration from one of the greatest drummers to ever sit behind the kit. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Dave Weckl. Hour 1 Boomer and Gio are concerned about Kodai Senga's performance and suggest David Peterson as the Mets' playoff ace. Jerry's update covers the Yankees' win over the Rays, the Mets' loss (Senga gave up 4 earned runs, Nimmo left with a stiff neck), "What is Anthony Gallo Talking About?", a bullet through Andy Reid's office window last year, and Sachia Vickery's $1,000 pre-date deposit on OnlyFans. Hour 2 The hour began with a discussion about Tom Brady's golf course venture and his son. Dan in Carteret called to discuss the new Bengals stadium, but instead mocked Boomer's head size. NFL trades were a topic, as was a caller's frustration about not acknowledging Robert Plant's birthday. Another caller questioned why all WFAN hosts vacation in the summer. Jerry's update started with the Yankees beating the Rays, hitting five more home runs. Jose Caballero's ejection and post-game comments were covered. Kodai Senga's rough outing in the Mets' loss to DC was discussed, along with Mendoza's comments. Myles Garrett avoided talking about his speeding ticket, and the Micah Parsons situation in Dallas remained unresolved. The hour concluded with the social media buzz around Cracker Barrel's logo change, with many perceiving them as "woke" due to the new logo and interior changes. Hour 3 We began discussing the Giants' improved optimism this season due to positional upgrades. Boomer stressed the importance of Russell Wilson avoiding turnovers and the defense creating them, unlike last season. Adam Schein will do Sunday highlights on CBS, not the highly paid talent. Jerry returned for an update, but first, someone made him t-shirts with his death-related sayings. The Yankees beat the Rays with 5 more homers. We then discussed the slang term 'NPC'. The hour concluded with a discussion on Phil Mickelson and those who believe he 'ruined golf'. Hour 4 Bubba Wallace in-studio, Boomer compares NASCAR to LIE driving. Jerry's final update: Yankees beat Rays with Stanton's tenth-inning pinch-hit HR. Ohtani hit in thigh by line drive. Jets held a players-only practice, overseen by Aaron Glenn. Moment of The Day: host struggles with 'depth'. Jordan Davis calls in to discuss Cracker Barrel.

“Is it ever okay to destroy someone's car if you're pregnant and stressed?” That's just one of the wild questions Sandy and Tricia tackle in this laugh-out-loud episode of The Sandy Show. From heartfelt moments to hilarious chaos, this episode has it all. Sandy kicks things off with birthday shoutouts to Amy Adams, Al Roker, and rock legend Robert Plant, followed by a nostalgic tribute to Mad Libs that had Tricia in stitches. But things take a turn when Tricia shares the jaw-dropping story of a woman named Stephanie who went full Carrie Underwood on her ex's car—glitter in the vents, salt in the engine, and a mugshot smile that says it all. Balancing the madness, Sandy shares a feel-good story of Jasmine Mick, a woman who gave birth on her parents' lawn with the help of a heroic neighbor-paramedic. Then it's back to the absurd with tales of Kevin the peacock evading police and eight raccoons throwing a jacuzzi party in Florida. Notable Moments:“She poured salt into his engine. The car had to be totaled.”“Kevin, do not come here!” — a police officer trying to wrangle a runaway peacock.“I haven't given up hope that I'll one day adopt a baby raccoon.” — Sandy's dream pet plan.“62% say lying about your age is a dealbreaker… for the 38% who do it.”Call to Action: If you laughed, gasped, or Googled “blue-footed booby” during this episode, don't forget to subscribe, leave a review, and share The Sandy Show with your friends. The original Count--Butch Burden is still thumping the bass and singing the songs. Count & The Colony were the up-and-coming band in the mid-60s, hitting the road with Question Mark & The Mysterians, as well flagging shared management with Lilly Gonzales, touring in the Count's teen years. The road was no stumbling block, providing city-to-city exposure, parties, and dedication to craft which remains to this day. Then the money dried up. A Tangerine Records contract with the Ray Charles Estate included four originals that have never been released.    Burden took his rich vocals, showmanship, and musical drive back home to Mid-Michigan where he continues to reside, 60 years later. His shows are documented in this two-part series through time, story, and epic detail. The bands that he jammed with, the music he created, and the longing to continue to be in a cover oriented group, Count & The Change, giving him a lifetime as a musician.    Here in Part 2 of 2, Butch dives into the hotel residencies with Amphagas that put the spotlight on the band with the likes of Elvis, Led Zeppelin, Little River Band, George Benson, Liza Minelli, and moments with Robert Plant and Patti LaBelle that made up fantastic memories. We would like to thank Butch's wife Cindie for assisting in bringing archives and reminding Butch of memories along the way. Part 2 of 2 is ready to serve now in the MMHP in the 989!

The 1996 tour of Robert Plant and Jimmy Page is universally regarded as being amazing. Great energy, great performances, and great setlists. All these conspire to create great gigs. This show in Nagoya on Feb. 17, 1996 is one such great gig. So great in fact that I'm focusing solely on the three encore songs performed. All three are awesome and completely tight and glorious. I play a tender and delicate acoustic Rain Song, a breathtakingly poignant Tea For One, and an absolutely perfect and amazing In The Evening. Magic is a word which would apply to this show.
