It's time for another New World interview, this time with editor/director James Melkonian, who started as an intern at New World Pictures before climbing the ladder all the way to VP of Post-Production! James spent five years at New World, toiling away on a wide range of projects - GODZILLA 1985 (Ep. 108), THE PUNISHER (Ep. 121), REFORM SCHOOL GIRLS (Ep. 81) - just about everything at New World, especially once he took over the Post-Production department from Tony Randel (HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II, Ep. 106). From doing edit work on NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER (Ep. 29) and MAKING CONTACT (Ep. 40) to supervising the music for EAT AND RUN (from last year's #NOvember), James discusses a variety of New World films with us, including spilling some wild stories from THE GUNRUNNER (starring Kevin Costner), THE TELEPHONE (starring Whoopi Goldberg and directed by Rip Torn), and KNIGHTS OF THE CITY (starring Leon Isaac Kennedy)! Then, James explains how things started to change at New World and let him know that the end was near! Once New World closed its doors, James moved on to direct a couple movies post-New World, THE STONED AGE and THE JERKY BOYS. You don't want to miss this episode, which gives an unique inside look to how New World Pictures ran during the second ownership group! Thanks so much to James for appearing on the show! Send us a textInfamous Lords and Masters of Shock Rock, GWAR, are celebrating the 36th anniversary of their landmark album Hell-O! with a spectacular reissue. This special edition, now available on blood-spattered clear vinyl, not only revives the seminal 1988 album but also includes expanded artwork and never-before-seen photos, including images from the original album release show in Richmond. The Hell-O! (36th Anniversary Edition) is available in limited runs of both CD and vinyl, exclusively through the band's label, Pit Records. To commemorate this milestone, GWAR is also reprinting their iconic "GWAR Must Die" t-shirts, which gained fame during their early pillaging days. The current lead singer of GWAR, Blóthar the Berserker, formerly known as Beefcake the Mighty, shared his reflections on this momentous release: “It was the '80s. I was so young and scared. I will always remember wandering around the seedy sex arcades of Times Square, pants around my ankles, tears in my eyes… little did I know, I was working on the most important record in the history of shock rock. We were polishing a turd for the ages… we wanted to call it 'Beat the Meatles,' but the record company said no… and 'Hell-O' was born.”GWAR is currently in the midst of their "The Age of Entitlement" tour, which runs through September 20th. This tour features support from Latin American death metal pioneers Brujeria, the face-melting grindcore band BRAT, and folk-metal group The Native Howl. Blóthar commented on the tour: “This is an incredible time in the history of the world, so much death and destruction in the face of so much senseless entitlement and arrogant darkness. We cannot wait to shock some sense into humanity with the most outrageous performance of heavy metal theater ever to descend from the gods.”Following this tour, GWAR will embark on "The Stoned Age" tour starting October 17th in Las Vegas, NV, and concluding on November 20th in Nashville, TN. This leg of the tour will feature support from Black Metal royalty Dark Funeral, hardcore noise makers Squid Pisser, and Cancer Bats on select dates. Blóthar humorously added, “Get ready to mumble!!! On this tour we will CHRONIC-le the embarrassing loser takes all choice between a neurodivergent fascist and a desiccated mummy to be the leader of the free world. What could possibly go wrong?”In addition to their touring and reissue, GWAR made a record-breaking sixth appearance on the AV Club's Undercover Series. Known for their unique takes on popular songs, GWAR covered the hit "I'm Just Ken" from the Barbie movie soundtrack, showcasing their unparalleled ability to reinterpret hits. “We've been fans of Ryan Gosling since the Mickey Mouse Club days, anwww.BetterHelp.com/TheBarnhttp://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn http://www.betterhelp.com/TheBarnThis episode is sponsored by www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn and brought to you as always by The Barn Media Group. Every once in a while I have a conversation on this show that blows my mind, this episode did just that. Today on the show we have Oscar® Nominated producer Chris Moore. He produced films like Good Will Hunting, American Pie, Waiting, The Adjustment Bureau, and Manchester by the Sea. Chris' profile grew from his appearance as the producer on the early 2000's filmmaker reality show Project: Greenlight.I have a short, and I mean short, history with Project: Greenlight but that's another story. After graduating from college, Chris Moore moved to Los Angeles after sometime working in the mailroom of a major agency he got promoted to literary agent. He championed projects like: The Stoned Age, PCU, Airheads, Last Action Hero, and My Girl. When Chris' agency was acquired by ICM, he left and became an indie film producer. With some friends, he raised the budget to produce the indie film Glory Daze, which starred an unknown Matt Damon. Damon turned down the leading role in favor of paid work on another paid project but introduced him to his friend Ben Affleck, who ultimately starred in Glory Daze.Afterward, Affleck and Damon wrote the screenplay for what would become the Oscar® winning Good Will Hunting, and they asked Chris help them produce the film that was directed by Gus Van Sant. Will Hunting (Matt Damon) is twenty years old, and already stands out in his rough, working-class neighborhood in South Boston. He's never been to college, except to scrub floors as a janitor at MIT. Yet he can summon obscure historical references from a photographic memory, and almost instantly solve math problems that frustrate Nobel Prize winning professors. The one thing this remarkably bright, impossibly angry young man can't do - after his latest bar fight - is talk his way out of a pending jail sentence. His only hope is Sean McGuire (Robin Williams), a college professor-turned-therapist with an admiration for Will's emotional struggles, and a keen understanding of what it's like to fight your way through life.Chris and I had a remarkable conversation about how to produce films in today eco-system. We also discuss what it's like working in the studio system, some of the issues he has with the system, how filmmakers are treated, and so much more. This an EPIC 2-hour conversation full of knowledge and truth bombs so prepare to take some notes.Enjoy my conversation with Chris Moore.

"I love this stupid movie" is this week's theme. "Rhubarb" (1951) is the story about a cat who inherits a major league baseball team. Definitely a little stupid, but also very funny. Rhubarb is played by Orangey, a cat that with 30 acting credits to his name and the only animal to be named winner of the prestigious Patsy Awards (animal Oscar) twice. "The Stoned Age" (1994) is one night in the life of a couple high school stoners looking for something to do on a Friday night. Matt liked it more than he thought he would, and the film is in one of Adam's favorite genres, the Grade C 90's comedy. Next, fixers is the theme with "Michael Clayton" 2007 and "Killing Them Softly" 2012.Thanks for listening!Did we get something wrong? Have your own recommendations? Instead of an episode of "I Fucking Love This Movie", we bring you an episode of "I Fucking Love These Movies" ! I'm talking about two beloved movies of the 90's set in the 70's. I'll also be revealing one of the films I'll be talking about on episode ten. So kick back, grab a tall of your choice, a doobie, and listen to Episode 9 !
On the lam is the theme for this week. Sam Peckinpah's "The Getaway" (1972) is based on the pulp novel written by Jim Thompson and stars Steve McQueen. With all that going for it, you'd think it would be a really good film, but it's just not. It's not bad but could have been better with a recast of the two leads. "Midnight Special" (2016) is the opposite as Michael Shannon heads a great cast for this pseudo-sci fi thriller. Matt wishes this cast could do a remake of "The Getaway". Definitely underrated. Next, I love this stupid movie with "Rhubarb" (1951) and "The Stoned Age" (1994).Thanks for listening!Did we get something wrong? Have your own recommendations? Get ready for on heck of a ride. Today on the show we have screenwriter Rich Wilkes.Wilkes' major-studio debut was as screenwriter of the 1994 film Airheads. The story revolves around a group of loser musicians called The Lone Rangers who take a radio station hostage to get their song played on the radio. Airheads was directed by Michael Lehmann and distributed by 20th Century Fox.This was followed by a co-writer credit (alongside director James Melkonian) for the 1994 comedy The Stoned Age, set in the stoner subculture of Southern California during the 1970s.The same writing and directing team then collaborated with The Jerky Boys to create the 1995 production The Jerky Boys: The Movie, featuring the eponymous comedians (self-described as “low-lifes from Queens”) as New York City youths who get into trouble with the Mafia when one of their prank calls leads them into a money laundering business.Wilkes is credited as the sole screenwriter for the 2002 action-adventure film XXX and a “based on characters created by” credit as being as the creator of the XXX franchise.Wilkes co-wrote the Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt, based on the New York Times bestselling book by Neil Strauss and Mötley Crüe. The film took 17 years to get made. David Fincher was initially attached to direct in 2004, followed by Larry Charles in 2008.Rich and I had a raw conversation about what it is really like to be a screenwriter in Hollywood, warts and all. This episode should be reqired listening for any screenwriter thinking of getting into the Hollywood screenwriting game.Enjoy my eye-opening conversation with Rich Wilkes.

Weed Mania was created to bridge the gap between the companies and the consumers, by involving the community rather than just giving free shit and sending them on their way. We want you to learn who is behind the companies and why you should support their brand. Michael O'Brien and the other members of Sonoran Roots are from Arizona and repping hard with their fire craft cannabis. They employ over 150 people in Arizona and are about to expand to over 300 within the next year as they are adding a huge addition to their cultivation and facilities. Tune in to see how many new strains they recently popped and what they have coming next, you dabbers will be happy. Drew Rodriguez, an employee with Sonoran brought along some of their Ice Cream Cake for the cRitiX strain review, and let me tell you my mouth is still watering. Ari, JROC and Drew went down stairs for an old school Clam Bake in the ride and came back up to the studio high and happy as can be. See if Ice Cream Cake made the cut as Dank. We highly recommend tuning in and catching a vibe, it's more contagious than Corona. No pun intended. lol This segment is sponsored by High Grade Connoisseur Cannabis and concentrates. @wearehighgradeaz Host VACA @azpotcast Co host JROC @jroclive #elevatehigher #arizonaresidents #maryvaleaz #herbnlegend #meltlounge #azmmjpatients #az #arizonahighways #arizonaliving #azliving #arizonafamily #asu #grandcanyonuniversity #grandcanyonstate #prop203 #prop207 #sonoranroots #weedmaniaaz #phoenixaz #azdispensaries #arizonadispensary #strainreview #cannapediareviews #thestonedagepotcast #cominginhot #worldwide

Is Australia's punitive approach towards driving under the influence of cannabis doing more harm than good, especially towards medicinal cannabis users?
Episode 131- screenwriter Rich Wilkes! Rich is a very accomplished screenwriter with over 30 years in the business. He contributed to two of my favorite movies - “The Dirt” & “Billy Madison” (uncredited). It was great chatting about the process of getting some of these projects made. It was also fun to hear about some of his projects that he worked on that did not get made- although I’m hoping some of them- like the Sam Kinison movie do get made. 0:00:00 - Intro0:01:01 - Background in Switzerland0:02:20 - Early Movie & TV Influences0:04:35 - Theater & Movies in High School0:05:35 - Getting Started in the Movie Business 0:07:35 - Extra Movie & TV Work 0:09:34 - First Screenplay - "Glory Daze"0:10:27 - The "Stoned Age" & Fans 0:12:28 - "Airheads" with Chris Farley & Adam Sandler0:17:45 - "The Jerky Boys" 0:20:00 - "Glory Daze" 0:21:45 - "Billy Madison" 0:24:45 - "xXx" 0:28:59 - Projects That Don't Get Made0:32:30 - "Punk Like Me" & Touring in a Band 0:36:10 - "The Ballad of The Whiskey Robber" 0:39:59 - David Fincher & 80s MTV Series 0:46:00 - "The Dirt", Script Changes & Band Issues 0:51:45 - Research with Motley Crue & Lawsuit0:54:30 - Making Motley Crue Likable 0:58:58 - Pam & Tommy Lee Sex Tape 1:00:13 - Sam Kinison & Other Projects 1:02:45 - George Clooney & The Green Hornet 1:04:53 - Fanboying Out & Being Around Celebrities 1:09:40 - Cancer Charity & Golden Rule1:11:40 - Jager Shots with Tommy Lee 1:13:16 - Wrap Up Rich Wilkes Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/rich_k_wilkes/American Cancer Society Website:https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.htmlChuck Shute Website:http://chuckshute.comSupport the show (https://venmo.com/Chuck-Shute)

EXPOSED! An Exclusive Look Behind the Curtain of Corporate Greed.
Should marijuana have a warning label? Is cannabis safe to eat, drink or use as an oil? Where can consumers go to for information on dosing, product safety, warnings, and potency? To be blunt, the warning labels and safety guidance surrounding cannabis products are confusing, inconsistent, or non-existent. Cannabis serving size, food safety, labeling, cannabis-related litigation, waste disposal, testing, and dosage are critical issues that are fully discussed in this riveting pot podcast. We should know what's in CBD oil, flowers, and chocolate edibles, because if we don't, it's a hidden hazard and could be highly dangerous. As The Warnings Doctor, I am compelled to tell you about dangers you may consume. But if you don't know about those hazards, how can you protect yourself and your loved ones? We desperately need warnings to tell consumers about the risks that they confront with cannabis products. We can't afford to have a "Stoned Age" for marijuana. Celebrate 4-20 but keep in mind that these products might not be safe for your health. And remember, the more informed you are, the safer you'll be!

Three grown men over the age of 40 (two Brits and an Australian) walked into a podcast to discuss a film about two teenage American guys from the seventies looking to get stoned, drunk and laid.Welcome to episode 81 of See Hear Podcast – the start of our 8th year.Tim is still on sabbatical, but Bernie and Maurice were joined by host of The Iron Sequel podcast, James Lawrence, to talk about the 1994 film The Stoned Age. It's a “set in one night” film (a genre unto itself) telling the story of two friends who want to party with a couple of girls visiting LA (was “party” always a verb?). Obviously, there are obstacles (otherwise there's no story). Blue Oyster Cult are a big part of the story (there had to be SOME music connection for it to qualify as a See Hear episode, you see....)We talk about one-night-films, films that focus on nostalgia, musical true believers, and ask the questions about older films that some will consider problematic in 2021.Bernie and I are grateful to James for suggesting the film and giving us his time to talk about his love of it. This week we travel to a land called suburbia in the pursuit of beer, bodacious bud and fine chicks! We're talkin' THE STONED AGE! This is a lost 90s stoner classic supposedly set in the late 1970s that was discovered by many when it would run on the USA Network, sometimes as a double feature with DAZED AND CONFUSED. It's a rare "double comedy" in that it's both intentionally and unintentionally hilarious. FYI, there are a lot of things about this movie that do not particularly age well... Next Week: The beginning of One Trashy Summer! Thank you so much for listening! Please follow the show on Twitter: @GreatestPod Subscribe on Apple Podcasts / Podbean This week's recommendations: She's Gotta Have It (Netflix) F is For Family (Netflix)

Hi everybody! We hope everyone is staying safe and locked up in their homes watching movies and listening to podcasts. Today Mysterious Mike Talent and Matt Hinshaw review a classic film from their high school days, The Stoned Age. Bonus topics include ex girlfriends, baseball coming back, and coming of age films. The Stoned Age is a fun comedic story about a pair of high school buddies cursing town in the blue torpedo looking to party and find some chicks. There have been some incredible coming of age movies since this film came out but The Stoned Age was a pioneer with Dazed and Confused for the genre in the mid 90’s. The plot is fun and takes a couple of wild turns especially when the floating eyeball is introduced. The acting is decent. It is rough at times but a lot of these actors were very young and early in their careers so you have to cut them some slack. It is not really a stoner comedy, The Stoned Age is more about getting into trouble on a Saturday night by friends, cops, and parents. To put it lightly it is not a politically correct film and probably would not be made today. Is this a must see film, probably not. It is a fun romp and a perfect film to revisit for your hosts during our current home lock downs. It is worth a watch if you are having a few drinks late at night trying to avoid the news. Mike and Matt both agree this movie is probably pulling a lot of nostalgia for their ratings. They both award the film 3 out of 5 Reels. Next week who knows what we are reviewing. It is Mike’s turn to pick a film. We went over several options on the podcast so you will have to wait until next week to find out what he picks. Thanks for downloading our pod and don't forget to tell your friends to listen too! We will chat at you next week. If you have a film you would like Matt and Mike Talent to review you can email us at nerds@reelfilmnerds.com, listeners we are talking to you too. Check it out a new Reel Film Nerds podcast! I guess it’s better late than never right? With the world coming to an end and a new life for one of our hosts it is tough to be on a schedule every week. Matt and Mike promise to continue to do their best to put out a weekly film review even though movie theaters are shut down. This week Matt and Mike review a classic film from 1985, Clue currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Bonus topics include poverty, slapstick comedies, and streaming fatigue, really Mike fatigue? Clue is an iconic fun comedy that everyone needs to enjoy. The script is nothing special and it is definitely not for our current PC culture. Where this board game based movie really excels is it’s performances especially Tim Curry. His over the top acting is a true delight to behold. Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn, and Michael McKean also bring a ton to this ensemble comedy but Curry is definitely the star. The whodunit story is tried and true with a few twists and turns thrown in but it is nothing you haven’t seen before. It is not an incredible story but it is a lot of fun especially the multiple endings. Mike and Matt both really enjoyed this nostalgic film from their childhoods both awarding it 4 out of 5 Reels. The pandemic and movie theater apocalypse continues so your hosts have no choice but to continue visiting classic comedies from their youth to try to help everyone stay in good spirits. Next pod Mike and Matt will review another comedy but his one is from 1994. The Stoned Age takes place over a single night in the 1970’s following two stoners cruising LA looking for chicks. It is currently available to stream for free on Vudu so why not sit down and watch it with us this week? Thanks for downloading our pod and don't forget to tell your friends to listen too! More and more states are legalizing traditionally illegal substances such as marijuana, and legal substances such as alcohol or prescription medication still have a high potential for abuse. It’s a special concern for environment, health, and safety professionals, as on-the-job use or abuse of any drug can potentially have devastating, even life-threatening consequences. So how can we promote safety in this "stoned age"? Joining us for today’s episode of EHS on Tap is Nina M. French, Managing Partner for the Current Consulting Group. Nina has over 26 years of experience in employee screening and managing drug-free workplace operations in a wide variety of fields.
On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE managing editor Mira Gonzalez sits down with comedian Kalea McNeill to discuss acting on the romantic musical comedy-drama TV show Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, being the class clown, and almost unintentionally falling into stand-up comedy 7 years ago. Over a Swisher stuffed with the finest bud our good friends the Green Angels (@greenangels.buzzz) have to offer, Mira and Kalea chop it up about jelly bean-shaped burgers in Fairfield CA, the important role weed plays in her writing process, and working at an infomercial production company right out of college. We closed out the show with a friendly round of “Puff or Pass,” a segment in which we gauged Kalea’s opinions on topics such as cooking with weed, Billy Porter’s tuxedo gown, Green Book winning best picture at the Oscars, and more. To support Kalea, check out the short film Boihood, watch season 4 of “Crazy Ex Girlfriend” on the CW, and catch her on MERRY JANE’s “About That Time,” with Noah Rubin every Tuesday or Thursday on Facebook Live. Her new comedy special “Laugh After Dark” will also drop on Amazon Prime Video in a month! “Queens of the Stoned Age” will be live at SXSW in Austin, Texas, with Chairman of the Board of the Texas Cannabis Industry Association Elizabeth Nichols as a special guest. Despite not being a punk band in the least, music critics are constantly comparing Potty Mouth to iconic female bands such as Bikini Kill and Riot Girls. In short, situation normal: all fucked up. However, despite being fans of those bands, Potty Mouth find the comparisons diminutive and are on a mission to establish themselves as female rock musicians on their own terms. On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE’s Mira Gonzalez sits down with Abby Weems, Ally Einbinder, and Victoria Mandanas of Potty Mouth to discuss their journey from living and going to school in Massachusetts to living in LA and releasing their second album next month. Over a blunt of Blue Dream provided by our good friends the Green Angels(@greenangels.buzzz), Abby, Ally, and Victoria chimed in on whether weed helps them break out of their normal song writing groove (“Drip Dry” was uncharacteristically written by Abby whilst high), how hard it is to make it financially as an artist, and having complete creative control over their next release. Because Abby, Ally, and Victoria are all from Massachusetts, a state that happens to have some seriously bonkers laws still on the books, we devised a game in which we asked them to guess which laws were real and which were from a list of both actual laws and fictitious ones. Is it illegal to eat peanuts in church? Can milk only be consumed in a copper mug? You’ll have to find out for yourself... Potty Mouth’s new album Snafu drops on 3/1, and they will also be performing at their album release party at the Factory in Los Angeles. Until then, check out their “Starry Eyes” music video and preorder the album! So don’t be shy: kick back, relax, and get woke with the freshest ep of "Queens of the Stoned Age" — the days of marijuana mansplaining are over.
Most servers don’t have a million Instagram followers, right? Or act in a Broadway show, right?! Well, let’s just say that Scheana Shay isn’t your average server. On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE managing editor Mira Gonzalez sits down with Scheana to learn more about her transition from serving to acting on a reality TV show and becoming a celebrity. Over a joint of “Mimosa” provided by our good friends the Green Angels (@greenangels.buzzz), Scheana and Mira discuss their mutual love for “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” having to give up THC and CBD for 50 days in order to freeze her eggs, and how (mistakenly) getting sued by her neighbors for smoking weed in the building led to meeting Tommy Chong. It was then time for a round of the “Puff Pass” segment, but you’ll have to watch to find out what Scheana thinks of microblading, Taco Bell, Katy Perry’s blackface shoes, and plenty more. The next “Vanderpump Rules” episode airs next Monday, but until then be sure to check out Shay’s just-released first single “Better Without You” (the full EP drops in May) and her “Scheananigans” podcast on PodcastOne. Right now, however, don’t be shy: kick back, relax, and get woke with the freshest ep of "Queens of the Stoned Age" — the days of marijuana mansplaining are over.
As you probably already know, today is the commercialized holiday of love, a.k.a. Valentine’s Day. Some of you may be boo’ed up with lavish dinner plans, while others of you may have a faded night in with your squeeze on the calendar. However, even if you’re not in a romantic relationship at all, it’s never a bad idea to get some advice from open-minded individuals like yourself! On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE managing editor Mira Gonzalez, joined by her esteemed MERRY JANE colleague Anthony Young, sits down with adult performer and activist Janice Griffith for a special “Love Potline” V-day episode of “Queens of the Stoned Age.” Over blunts provided by our good friends the Green Angels (@greenangels.buzzz), and after discussing modern dates vs. “traditional” dates (“we’re gonna fuck, but let’s have some fun formalities first”), and gender reveals, the trio trolls the r/relationship_advice Reddit thread to take a stab at providing sex advice for those in need. To get Mira, Janice, and Anthony’s takes on what to do when your partner is into horse sex when you’re not into it, what to do when you’re not into photos of buttholes, and plenty more just kick back, relax, and get woke with the freshest ep of "Queens of the Stoned Age" -- the days of marijuana mansplaining are over. Last but not least, remember to pee after sex, that a booty call and a butt dial are definitely not the same thing, and to smoke weed every day!
Sometimes you gotta keep it in the family. Luckily, the MERRY JANE fam is talented, smokes loud, and is down to record their conversations after smoking aforementioned loud. On the latest episode of "Queens of the Stoned Age," MERRY JANE managing editor Mira Gonzalez sits down with “writer slash performer” and fellow MERRY JANE editor Shelby Fero to talk about writing for television, salary negotiations, how difficult it is to eat Triscuits with cottonmouth, and lots more. Over several Gorilla Glue containing joints provided by our good friends the Green Angels (@greenangels.buzzz), Shelby and Mira discuss putting the “high” in high school, working on Punk’d, Robot Chicken, and Key & Peele, and East of La Brea, as well as the perils of disagreeing with men in Hollywood as a young woman. To turn it up a notch Shelby and Mira fielded “anonymous” questions about the most inappropriate places they’ve been stoned, whether Drake is an icon or a creep, and who their cartoon character crushes were/are. So don’t be shy: kick back, relax, and get woke with the freshest ep of "Queens of the Stoned Age" — the days of marijuana mansplaining are over.
It's a family affair here at Pod Like A Hole headquarters. Your favorite Reznor/NIN podcast has reached the point where it is 2010: NIN is on hiatus and Trent, Atticus, Rob join Trent's new wife (and former indie rock frontwoman) Mariqueen Maandig to create a project together. Marc, Steve and Eric dig into this dreamy glitch-tronica act (Eric is trying to make that genre stick). The music may get sleepy but the conversation never does!Follow them through a track-by-track analysis of both EPs (self-titled, "An Omen"), the full length "Welcome Oblivion" as they look at how these songs stand on their own, and how they stack up against NIN-proper work. We discuss the instrumentation, lyrics, music videos, MANY remixes and give you a loving yet critical look at this interesting era for Trent'n'friendz. In addition we dig into some of the soundtrack ("Call of Duty: Black Ops II") and Queens of the Stoned Age collaborations that Mr. Reznor was involved in during this era.It is a lively conversation, and Steve basically finds a reason to write Eric out of his will in the last twenty minutes... So many Zimas… Look folks, I’m going to keep this week’s episode page super short for the simple reason that I really want you to watch or listen to the show below so I’m not going to spoil shit here. A strange videotape showed up on the shelves of video stores across America back in 1994 called "The Stoned Age". Its stars weren't necessarily known at the time and the film hadn't been promoted at all... but right across the top of the box was the quote "Better Than Dazed and Confused". So you just had to check it out to see for yourself, right? Well, like many other avid video renters in the mid 90's, I took a chance on it and quickly fell in love with this low budget, stoner buddy comedy set in late 1970's Los Angeles. Over the years, "The Stoned Age" has built up a very devoted cult following and for the last 23 years it's been sporadically appearing on cable tv and video on demand sites like Hulu. I decided to take a deep dive into this movie and learn everything there was to learn about it. In the process I tracked down Michael Koppolo who played "Joe", Bradford Tatum who played "Hubbs", Renee Allman who played "Lanie" and James Melkonian who wrote and directed the movie. We'll hear in depth interviews with each of them on this unofficial Stoned Age reunion. Enjoy. -Joe Parisi (Just some dude) www.facebook.com/oddpodcast www.twitter.com/odd_podcast Email theoddpodcast@gmail.com

Is Superbad super bad for our economy? Brooks and Sean ask this and other equally pointless questions, probing into the conventions of teen movies like the Stoned Age, American Pie and Juno, but also wondering why grown men collect action figures, how the Beanie Babies phenomenon got started, and how all this affects our ever-expanding consumer economy. Somewhere along the line we also touch on why people are always saying Sean looks like Kevin Smith and the impact this has had on his opinion of Smith's movies.
