Ich historia odbiła się szerokim echem w poezji, prozie, w prasie i w rozmowach taterników. Przyboś pisał o nich z miłością i żalem, inni z pobłażaniem, a jeszcze inni z oburzeniem, że „kobieta śmiała sięgnąć tak wysoko”. Tahla viene convocato dopo aver parlato con il sindacato Sudd Cobas: "Sappiamo che sei stato al sindacato", gli dicono. Poi partono i bastoni. È la stessa zona dove appena due settimane fa altri quattro lavoratori sono stati vittime di una spedizione punitiva durante un picchetto. Non sono coincidenze: è un sistema che si nutre di paura e omertà, che prospera nell'indifferenza generale e nella retorica del "piccolo è bello" che spesso nasconde il marcio. La prognosi dice sette giorni, ma la ferita è molto più profonda: è uno sfregio alla Costituzione, è il fallimento di uno Stato che non riesce a proteggere chi lavora, è la vergogna di un Paese che si scopre ancora medievale nei rapporti di lavoro mentre si vanta di correre verso il futuro. Tahla è pakistano, e anche questo non è un dettaglio: lo sfruttamento sa bene dove colpire, sceglie le sue vittime tra chi ha meno voce, tra chi può essere più facilmente zittito. Noi intanto scivoliamo via, distratti, assuefatti, complici. In un Paese normale questa storia sarebbe uno scandalo nazionale. In Italia è solo cronaca locale. Cerkev Marije pod logom v Turnišču je glavno romarsko središče murskosoboške škofije, kamor že večer pred omenjenim verskim praznikom romajo romarji; na sam praznik pa se je pred romarsko cerkvijo Marije pod logom v Turnišču pred pandemijo covida-19 zbralo tudi do pet tisoč ljudi iz različnih krajev Slovenije. Pater Andrej upa, da se bo po dveh pandemičnih letih vnovič zbralo več tisoč romarjev v Turnišču, kjer pa obhajanje velikega šmarna začnejo že nekaj dni pred 15. avgustom. V župniji Turnišče namreč deluje samostan sester klaris in te 11. avgusta praznujejo god svete Klare, ustanoviteljice omenjenega ženskega reda. Čeprav večina ob omembi Turnišča pomislijo na prekmursko naselje pa gremo tokrat res v Turnišče ampak ne v Prekmurje. V okolico Ptuja bomo šli. Streljaj od najstarejšega slovenskega mesta je namreč dokaj neznan grad Turnišče, ki sicer kaže res žalostno podobo in kar kriči po pošteni obnovi, k sreči pa se za razpadajočim poslopjem bohoti prekrasen drevesni park, ob njem pa Turniški ribnik, ena od posebnosti Dravskega polja. Šli smo do parka, ki je bil predolgo časa kot kakšna zaspana kraljična.
