Today, my guest shares her inspiring story about what helped her turn things around in life to manifest her dreams. She shares nuggets of wisdom and practical techniques that can help you move forward in your dream chase. Join us! Heather Hakes is a mindset coach, speaker, and author of https://amzn.to/3pHkMWa (Take the Leap). She has been featured on numerous podcasts and published in Voyage Denver and Women Who Empower and Inspire. Heather has reached tens of thousands through her international podcast, Mind Over Matter. Heather specializes in helping others get out of their own way by awakening their infinite potential to create their ideal life. Heather is a graduate of Tony Robbins’ Mastery University and Gabby Bernstein’s Spirit Junkie Masterclass. She also studies Eckhart Tolle, Bob Proctor, and Robin Sharma’s principles of presence, shifting paradigms, and personal mastery. Heather manifested six-figures after taking the leap to quit the corporate world by aligning with her true passion and purpose and is now on a mission to help others overcome self-doubt through her transformative coaching programs, retreats, and courses. Following society’s rules How likely are you to follow the “rules” that society sets for you? Heather admits that she was caught in this trap for a long time. She followed society’s rules in getting her degree and moving into the corporate world. For over a decade, Heather felt out of place, like she was chasing someone else’s dream. She remembers complaining to her parents about what she was doing while dreading every single Monday and cheering every single Friday for week after week. Climbing the corporate ladder left her feeling miserable about her job and her life. She finally clarified what she really wanted in life with the help of a coach. TWEET: Stop chasing someone else’s dream. @heather.hakes #chasingdreams A moment of pivot What is it that you need to pivot from right now? Pivoting away from what you’ve known is not an easy thing to do. For Heather, it meant leaving the safety and security of a corporate job with a steady and sufficient paycheck. She had felt the gnawing inside of her for a long time as it told her to make a change. Her message to others is not to wait until you’re “ready” and everything is aligned because those moments may never come. You just have to jump first and let the net appear. Heather made the leap, even though it meant facing the worst-case scenario with fear and hesitation. We all need to realize that our story is a journey and a process---and not a destination. TWEET: Don’t wait until you’re “ready” and everything is aligned to make a change because those moments may never come. @heather.hakes #chasingdreams Creating a path What do you do when the traditional path isn’t available or clear? Heather says to find a mentor when your circumstances change and you can’t see clearly the path ahead. Look for someone who is where you want to be or a few steps ahead of you. They can help you create clarity and formulate a roadmap forward. Be resourceful and find an “accountabili-buddy.” There are coaches, mentors, and peers who will help you if you just ask; they can be great resources to help you move forward with an attitude of gratitude for your journey and what you learn along the way. TWEET: Look for a mentor who is where you want to be or is a few steps ahead of you. @heather.hakes #chasingdreams Guest Recommendation: ONE action for a dream-chaser to take--”Take one step in front of the other. Don’t look too far down the road. Try my technique for identifying specific goals: know your WHAT, be super specific about your strong WHYS, and take your first step.” OUTLINE OF THE EPISODE: [:32] Young Heather’s dreams [1:05] How Heather incorporated teaching into her work [2:15] Following society’s convention [3:58] Benefits to being curious [7:07] Heather’s moment of pivot [11:03] Why Heather has no regrets about her...

2020 has been a year for the record books in so many ways. If I’ve learned anything from this year it’s that life’s most brutal experiences show us what we are truly made of and open the door to unprecedented growth, impact, and fulfillment. For many women, we believe that we can’t be successful without suffering. That those brutal life experiences are what allow us to thrive. But my guest today would argue that you don’t have to prove your dedication through pain, hustling, or grinding. Being strategic and trusting yourself are enough. Keep Reading >> I am having a very raw, very real, and very fun conversation today with my colleague, Heather Chauvin. Heather is a leadership coach and strategic parenting expert who helps ambitious women become leaders at work and at home. Drawing from her professional experience as a social worker and her life experience raising 3 boys, Heather has created a signature approach to focus her clients on sustainability, profitability, and ease. Listen in today as Heather and I discuss what it was like to be diagnosed with cancer and how that changed her mindset around work, success, and family. We’re diving into the problems with the hustle mentality and why it’s our job to teach people how to treat us. As Heather says, you don’t have to suffer to be successful. To be a leader at home and in your business, it’s about learning to trust yourself and focus on becoming the person you desire your child to be. This episode has so many great insights for you on running a business, overcoming challenges, and becoming the leader you want to be. Today on the Power + Presence + Position Podcast: Heather’s first response to finding out she had cancer. Why Heather used to believe that suffering leads to success. How the hustle is reinforced in every aspect of our culture. How switching from suffering to working strategically impacted Heather’s business. The “epidural” Heather used to numb herself and how she overcame it. Why the concept of non-attachment was crucial in creating her podcast. Why Heather’s million-dollar minute idea is some of the best advice I’ve ever heard. “If you want something, you can make it. You don’t have to wait to have someone else do it for you.” Heather Thomas is a straight-up badass. She is a great drummer, singer, educator and most importantly, person. We met up at NAMM to shoot an interview and where this one went was incredible. She has been performing and teaching out of Seattle for many years but for 2020 she has decided to take on a big adventure. She plans to visit a major music city each month until she returns to Seattle in December. Heather has big dreams. She told me off-air that her dream is to play drums on the moon and to be the first to do it. Her personality is simply wonderful. She is a fearless woman in pursuit of a life filled with adventure, experiences and growth. You Will Hear About…. Why Heather decided to sell all her stuff and begin her 2020 with a year long adventure to evolve. How she created her own version of Patreon for herself. Heather’s incredible insight to what holds people back from pursuing the best life possible. Our thoughts on the void inside of us and how filling the void with “stuff” just doesn’t fix that. How Heather uses fear as a signal to move towards her personal growth. Having realistic expectations when you first begin learning something new. The impact negative inner commentary has on your growth. Why Should You Listen? We all have moments in our lives where we become fearful and uncertain of how to proceed. In these situations, we can have a strong pull towards the easiest solution or one that has the least resistance. But what is the best decision to make? A lot of the time, I feel that the harder decision is the best one to make. With so many conversations with friends, acquaintances and of course the many artists I have interviewed, I get the sense that those who push the hardest for growth yield a better life. It saddens me to think that people aren’t believing in themselves enough. Or that people are cluttering their lives with a mess of stuff that conceals their fullest life. We can all benefit from looking deep within ourselves to find the thing that excites us to work hard and desire something truly fulfilling. In this episode, we take a deep dive into this subject matter. It comes across in a confident and empowering way that has clarity. It sounds so simple but it isn’t. The concept in and of itself isn’t complicated but taking the time to explore the unknown, face our fears, and realize that we all should be accepting of great things for ourselves is a lifetime of work. We should all consider putting our negative commentary in time out and search for our best life. Heather’s Socials Instagram Facebook Website Follow ‘Drumeo Gab’ Instagram Facebook

Heather Ricketts owns her own boutique political and nonprofit fundraiser and compliance firm. Today she's sharing with us the realities of having a side hustle in order to find work that feels good in your soul, and how she structures her day for maximum productivity, which also keeps her aligned with her fiancé's work schedule. We talked about the value of a supportive partner in building a business, both emotionally and financially. Heather and her fiancé subscribe to the work hard, play hard mentality. With her fiancé's six weeks of paid vacation, Heather was motivated to jump into entrepreneurship so she could schedule her own time off and enjoy the breaks together. But in building her own business, it required a tremendous amount of work and it took years for her to put boundaries in place with her clients. Now she's much more confident in communicating her boundaries, and letting clients know when she is and isn't available, without guilt. Heather Felde is physical therapist, athlete, and world traveler who owns and operates Ascend Physical Therapy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her unique focus in manual therapy centers on an individualized approach that gets to the root of the problem and has taken her across the world to teach, train, and practice. Motivated by the opportunity to gain a new perspective, Heather stepped away from a new and growing practice for 6 months to experience life and practice in the Far East. This leap of faith took her to Delhi, India where she treated patients, taught manual therapy techniques, and explored the rich landscape and culture of Nepal and India. From the summit of Mount Everest to the foot of Pikes Peak, Heather has worked tirelessly to provide the Colorado Springs community with opportunity to Ascend to new heights of health and human performance. We discuss: • Why Heather saw a need for a patient-centered approach to physical therapy in our community • How her unique focus led to international opportunity • How being overwhelmed in a foreign land led to a mindfulness practice • The unique experience of being a minority in a new and unfamiliar culture • Tips for optimal sleep and why it is important for tissue repair and overall well-being Heather and I also provide a brief “behind the scenes” look into the values, perspectives, and business aspects of going into solo practice. Heather McGhee is the president of the think tank Demos, and one of the most interesting thinkers today on the intersection of racism and economic inequality.Among Heather's most interesting arguments is her belief that "the left will have to challenge its own orthodoxy that defines racism as something that wholly benefits whites and solely victimizes people of color." In this podcast, she explains why. We also talk about:- Why Heather, an African-American woman, worked for John Edwards rather than Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in 2008- The lame presidency of The West Wing's Josiah Bartlet- Whether the wealthy are actually able to buy the political outcomes they want (spoiler: I'm skeptical)- How racism has been used as a tool to discredit government action- Whether Barack Obama's presidency has led to more racial division in AmericaAnd much more. This is a fascinating conversation about some genuinely tricky topics. It's left me with a lot to think about, and I believe it'll do the same for you. Learn more about your ad choices.
