A recent survey conducted by Talker Research revealed that 38% of Americans have never felt more uninspired at work than they do now. That's a bit over one-third of the workforce! In light of this dissatisfaction, what can be said about management? The post-pandemic workforce has a new view on what gives their lives meaning and the benefits of hybrid work, making it more challenging than ever for managers to keep their teams engaged and productive. To share how management can face this hybrid workforce era is our guest Mamie Kanfer Stewart. She's the founder and CEO of Meeteor, a coaching and training company that focuses on creating healthy, high-performing teams with a special emphasis on productive meetings, as well as the author of “Momentum: Creating Effective, Engaging and Enjoyable Meetings.” Mamie also hosts the Modern Manager Podcast, where she delivers practical advice to help people tap into their managerial greatness. In this episode, we're joined by Nate Thompson and Alex Schwartz, the hosts of The Disruptive Workforce Podcast, currently ranked in the top 3% of over 3 million podcasts worldwide. Continuing our conversation from Episode 30 with Bob Hobbi, we delve into the significant disruptions the workforce has encountered over the past 4-5 years, spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic and the rapid evolution of technology. Nate and Alex share their insights on how organizations are grappling with these workforce challenges and offer guidance on navigating through them. Our discussion spans a range of topics including organizational culture, leadership, artificial intelligence, adapting to technological advancements, and harnessing the opportunities presented by these changes in today's workforce.About Nate and AlexNate Thompson and Alex Schwartz are the co-founders of The Disrupted Workforce (TDW). They launched TDW during the pandemic to help leaders and professionals prepare, navigate, and thrive through the most digital and disrupted workforce in human history. But their passion for The Future Of Work began almost seven years prior when Nate was building the first Future of Work programs in Asset Management, and Alex was selling Digital Transformation projects in consulting.Their compelling WHY is simple. “We lived through a global pandemic running the largest remote and hybrid work experiment in the history of humanity. The AI Era has begun; more than 300 million jobs will be impacted, and over a billion people must be upskilled by 2030. Work, identity, purpose, and what it means to be human are rapidly changing for everyone. Yet, many leaders and professionals aren't ready, and most companies don't have a way to deliver on this need. We can't go back to the old playbook. It's time to Explore, Expand, and Evolve!”They knew this challenge was far bigger than them or their company. So they started with two powerful questions: “Everyone needs these insights. How might we help leaders and professionals at scale? What if we start a free conversation with the Top Voices In The Future of Work and invite everyone?” Those beautiful questions led to the creation of their podcast (available on Spotify, Apple, YouTube, and all platforms), now globally ranked in the top 3% of over 3 million podcasts.CONNECT WITH TC ADVISORY GROUP:Website: https://tcadvisorygroup.com/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/tcadvisorygroup1Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetcadvisorygroup/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/tc-advisory-group1/FOLLOW THE EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PODCAST ON SOCIAL MEDIAFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/theexecutiveleadershippodcast/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theexecutiveleadershippodcast/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/the-executive-leadership-podcast/ Hosted on Acast. Anyone who has experimented with generative AI knows the tech is still flawed. Despite massive investments in AI models, tools, and applications, the fact that AI outputs are still biased and inconsistently accurate raises global concerns regarding trustworthiness and who is responsible for making AI safe as it evolves at earth-shattering speed. The unfortunate truth is that presently, the majority of AI models only reflect a narrow sample of our collective humanity, inevitably reinforcing the existing biases of those who programmed AI and the narrow data sets used, making today's AI models inept at delivering diverse perspectives. Unpacking the ethics and path to a safer, more responsible, and representative AI future is Phaedra Boinodiris, IBM Consulting's Global Leader for Trustworthy AI. Phaedra is a top voice, author, speaker, and one of the earliest leaders responsible for reimagining AI initiatives. Her recent book, “AI for the Rest of Us,” and her role as co-founder of the Future World Alliance highlight her commitment to integrating ethics into AI education and development. She's here to discuss the need for inclusive AI that represents all of humanity, outlining the important considerations leaders should take into account to ensure their AI initiatives are ethical, inclusive, and able to effectively augment our capabilities without compromising human values. Further, what AI governance models look like at IBM and how to develop the right teams to develop truly groundbreaking AI solutions without compromise.  We talk about how AI ethics intersects with broader societal issues, including education, corporations, and parental responsibilities. Phaedra also shares IBM's approaches to AI training, tools, teams, and transparency as well as the importance of AI literacy in different fields, and why diversity is crucial in AI development. Here are some key takeaways from Doug's experience at the New Year New You event in Miami. Authentic intelligence comes from experience and activating our brains, hearts, and souls. There is a difference between artificial intelligence (AI) and authentic intelligence. Artificial intelligence is knowledge gained through algorithmic study and memorization—learning in 2D—while authentic intelligence comes from experience that activates more areas of the brain and leaves emotional imprints. It engages our brains, hearts, and souls. And as AI advances, we need to balance and develop our authentic intelligence through conversations, travel, and immersive experiences. Curiosity is the most important skill in the AI era.Curiosity is singled out as the most important skill in the AI era. With unlimited information at our fingertips, our impact comes from the questions we ask, not just passively accepting the answers we receive. Staying curious allows us to steer our use of AI tools, rather than losing agency and keeps us from falling into sameness. Imperfections make us human. As AI generates hyper-perfect images and content, imperfections make us human. We need to embrace the imperfections and uniqueness that differentiates human creativity from AI. In design, we should move away from perfection and embrace more human, authentic work. Our humanity shines through those imperfections. Follow Doug on LinkedIn.Click here to get your copy of Doug's children's book—Design Your World.Follow Imagine a Place on LinkedIn.

In this reflective episode, Paul Sullivan, former New York Times columnist and founder of The Company of Dads, shares his insightful journey from the newsroom to reshaping the narrative and policies supporting fatherhood at work.  Paul defines 'Lead Dads' as fathers who take the forefront in prioritizing parenting and caregiving, challenging traditional gender roles and stereotypes. We also discuss why it makes a tremendous difference to see Lead Dads in senior leadership roles, how this shift benefits parents, retention, branding, and business, and why the CMO and CHRO should own and promote this strategic advantage.
