Not only have high levels of consumption failed to translate into  a sense of wellbeing, we are increasingly confronted with the fact that they cannot be sustained. This podcast is an exercise in new political imagination, arguing that downshifting the Australian economy to a lower consumption, higher wellbeing model is not only desirable but also well within reach. There is a lot of talk & information about wellbeing, presence, mindfulness, getting good sleep, eating well and self-care ... alot of which can be good and helpful, and alot can also be overwhelming and like more to do's in an already full life. Here at Feminine Power Time we get to the roots of wellbeing by applying wisdom to the choices we make every day ... including the practices, choices and routines that have way more influence over how we feel, how we show up,  and how others perceive and receive us than we know. As we embark on our 8th year here at Feminine Power Time - I wanted to take a pause to bring practical application to our theme for this year: Rooting and Rising in Radiance, that enables and empowers us to actually live that theme into reality.  It's the choices we make in our every day that determine how we feel and live throughout our days.  Contemplate this: Which every day choices are supporting your radiance + your capacity to show up as your best self? Which are draining your radiance or driving you to react to people or situations that does not reflect your best self?   When I say "practice" it can help to think about practices in two categories:  Proactive and Preventative: Put these into your daily, weekly and monthly rhtyhm to keep your life force and radiance strong, so you are more able and likely to show up as the calm, clear, grounded, radiant, powerful presence that is you. Pull On In the Moment : Use these in the moments you get triggered, pinched, swirled up, overwhelmed, full of emotion or feelings of anxiety or frustration. They will give you a  path to move through the trigger or wobble, and recenter. So you can respond vs. react to a situation or a person. Tune into episode #210 - Keep Your Radiance Strong & Light  - 3 Practices to Play With and then try these three practices in your day to day. These are three practices I use in  my day to day too! Relax. Rest. Regenerate. The Daily & Weekly Bookend Eliminate & Release. Release & Embrace. Choose a time span to play with. Emote to Elevate. Ask someone to be a space holder for you or play with this through journaling, movement or self recorded speaking. I so look forward to sharing this wisdom with you, and hearing what happens as you play with them.  Christine  ***** RESOURCES Overwhelmed and Over It Book - Section 2 - www.OverwhelmedandOverIt.com Episode #117 The Practice of Downshifting - https://christinearylo.com/2020/03/superpower-practices-for-staying-centered-calm-and-clear-1of3/ CONNECT Linked in: https://www.linkedin.com/in/christinearylo/ Instagram: @christinearylo Feminine Wisdom Cafe - private online community off social media: www.FeminineWIsdomcafe.com You Tube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ChristineArylo

"Downshifting your ambitions doesn't necessarily mean you are throwing away your past or becoming a slacker. It may actually mean that you've finally recognized what it takes for achievement and ambition to be sustainable." - Dorie Clark What does it mean to always be ready? Today I talk about how to embrace not being ready. At the start of every new year, it can be all too easy to bog ourselves down with newly formed goals and deadlines, and plans. It can be much harder to purposefully slow down and simplify, but maybe that is just what we need right now. Maybe we don't need to always be ready. "Maybe to start the new year, we don't need another goal or another list." - Angela Chee In today's show, I talk about giving ourselves permission to slow down and times when the power of The Only can be both a blessing and a burden.  I share how I discovered my strong suit can also be my weakness and how we can all discover what doesn't serve us and let it go. "Maybe we don't need more. Maybe we need different." - Angela Chee Show Notes: How to embrace not being ready What does it mean to always be ready How to give yourself permission to slow down What does real personal growth look like Is it okay to not always be ready When can the power of The Only be a weakness "The true power of the only is not always doing it alone."- Angela Chee Brand and Resource Mentions: Listen to The Power of The Only Episode 70: 2022 Recap and the Power of Slow Read How to Make Peace with Feeling Less Ambitious by Dorie Clark Get your copy of The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times by Michelle Obama Thanks for being a part of this bold and powerful conversation on The Power of The Only! In this episode, we take a closer look at the health of the US consumer and household savings and cash balances. We highlight the risk that US households are reaching an inflection point as consumer confidence is on the decline, while year-ahead inflation remains stubbornly high at 7%. Although US household savings are likely to remain positive through the end of next year, our US economists see that the $2.1trn of excess savings relative to the pre-pandemic trend could be used up by the second half of next year. Excess savings supported US discretionary consumer spending and the JPMorgan Chase Institute finds that elevated cash balances during COVID have provided a cushion for spending and that for all income quartiles, real incomes are higher in 2022 than in 2019. More than two-thirds of respondents in our US equity retail cost of living survey expect to see their monthly core cost of living to rise by at least 10% in the coming months relative to costs of living at the start of the year.   Joyce Chang, Chair of Global Research Chris Wheat, President of the JPMorgan Chase Institute Daniel Silver, Senior US Economist Matthew Boss, Head of J.P. I know so many of you are burnt out, but before you downshift your career, or leave the workforce all together, join me for this episode where we'll discuss alternatives. This is a very popular, and important, topic right now. There's research that gifted women, in particular, are most likely to downshift their career aspirations because of all of the other "stuff" they're expected to take on. It normally starts happening pretty early on in our careers—often times even in undergrad. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to take on the world, which normally leads to overfunctioning and eventually, burn out. Here's what the research shows... Research: Women Leaders Took on Even More Invisible Work During the Pandemic—not too shocking, right?! BUT... the stats are pretty alarming. "The events of the last year and a half have put intense pressure on companies to do more to support employees and act on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Women leaders are meeting this moment and taking on the extra work that comes with it — but they're not getting recognized or rewarded for it. Alarmingly, more than half of women leaders who manage teams say that over the last few months, they have felt burned out at work “often” or “almost always,” and almost 40% of them have considered downshifting their careers (for example, by moving to part-time work) or leaving the workforce altogether." https://hbr.org/2021/10/research-women-took-on-even-more-invisible-work-during-the-pandemic?fbclid=IwAR1jyBN8wIvhrG0x_u8cNSyC9FJMGumPykHTZ8OX_sluQcLxrj-NUR98MAk Research Summary: The new 2021 Women in the Workplace report by LeanIn.org and McKinsey & Company found that the mission-critical work of supporting employees' well-being and promoting DEI is being done disproportionally by women, who aren't being rewarded or recognized for it. Companies are reaping great rewards from these efforts, but compared to men in similar roles, women leaders are more likely to be exhausted and chronically stressed at work. Alarmingly, more than half of women leaders who manage teams say that over the last few months, they have felt burned out at work “often” or “almost always,” and almost 40% of them have considered downshifting their careers or leaving the workforce altogether. And only about a quarter of employees say that the extra work they're doing is formally recognized (either “a great deal” or “a substantial amount.” With women leaders experiencing sky-high burnout and many of them eyeing the door, more needs to be done so that their efforts are treated like the indispensable work it is instead of like an after-hours, do-gooder volunteer drive.

Daily, your body needs to recharge. Your mind needs to rest. Your spirit to restore. But 8 hours of sleep a night won't do it. The yogis have known for thousands of years that it's the KIND OF sleep and rest you get that matters - you need DEEP rest to recharge. But most of us never get there because the habits and rituals we have the 4 hours before we go to sleep don't give us the space, time and rhythm we need to what's called in feminine wisdom 'DOWNSHIFT'.   In this Feminine Power Time, Christine Arylo shares a new way to think about how you wind down your day - Daily Downshifting. Rather than waiting to an hour before bed, Arylo shares the 3 phases of daily downshifting, which begin hours before bedtime, by signaling to your body and mind that it's time to start winding down work to nourish your body. In this Feminine Power Time you'll gain ancient wisdom modified for your modern life, including: Wisdom about why daily recharging isn't just about sleep & why watching reality TV, scary movies or flipping through emails even 3 hours before bed wrecks your rest, and leaks into your next day.  How to create a downshifting pattern using the 3 Daily Downshifting stages for your daily life that allows you to complete work & family activities in a way that nourishes you and sets you up for amazing rest.   "Secret" yogi techniques for preparing your body, mind and spirit for rest - including how to clear your monkey glands, open your spirit and calm your mind   Personal meditation to see how you can put these downshifting rituals to use in your life - with yourself and those you live with
