What You Can Do About Sex and Human Traffickers, A Big Problem. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms are integral parts of our lives. But did you know that these very platforms can also be exploited by human traffickers to groom and exploit victims? Human trafficking is a massive issue in America, and its intersection with digital spaces calls for urgent action. Check out and follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak, Medium and most all social media platforms. Ali Hopper is our guest on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast, you can listen to it as a free podcast on our website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or most major podcast platforms. Understanding the Problem: The Human Trafficking Crisis Human trafficking, including sex trafficking, is a heinous crime that robs victims of their freedom, dignity, and self-worth. Unlike many crimes of opportunity, traffickers deliberately target vulnerable individuals, often manipulating them into a cycle of abuse through lies, coercion, and violence. Sex trafficking victims, in particular, are treated as commodities, often exploited multiple times a day. Tragically, traffickers view their victims not as human beings but as “products” to be controlled and sold. What You Can Do About Sex and Human Traffickers, A Big Problem. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium, Newsbreak and Blogspot. How Traffickers Operate Traffickers employ a range of manipulative tactics: - Emotional Control: They often pose as romantic partners to gain trust. - Physical Domination: Victims are branded with tattoos, isolated from support systems, and subjected to violence. - Psychological Manipulation: Victims may be brainwashed into thinking there’s no way out, reinforcing their dependency on the trafficker. Alarmingly, traffickers use social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram to identify and groom potential victims. LinkedIn has also been exploited for professional scams, and can unknowingly spread misinformation that facilitates trafficking networks. Listen to the interview as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast website, also available on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major podcast outlets. Betty has been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, which have impacted her whole life with joint dislocations starting at the age of 7. Despite multiple surgeries and years spent in a wheelchair, she has had multiple anaphylactic episodes. In 2021, she found herself bedridden and facing PAO surgery to fix her hip dysplasia when she decided to try the carnivore diet. Within two weeks, she was walking and off medication, and she canceled future procedures. Now, a year and a half later, she is pregnant and attributes her success to the diet. Before this, she was running a vegan catering business and had been eating plant-based while dealing with her chronic health issues. She has always been passionate about nutrition and studied it at university but realized how politicized and tunnel-visioned the teachings and policies can be. In 2021, she appeared on Dark Horse with Bret Weinstein to discuss her health issues and the failed and over-politicized healthcare system in Australia. https://www.instagram.com/bettyserahealth/ Timestamps: 00:00 Trailer 00:41 Introduction 02:18 Bed-ridden in twenties 04:32 Food van 06:33 Mast cell activation syndrome 08:36 Digestive issues 11:29 Nerve blocks 13:24 Carnivore diet and genetic disorders 14:35 Veganism 16:35 Being in a wheelchair 18:10 Anorexia, restricting foods 19:56 Healing relationship with food 21:33 Fear of animal fats 23:09 Malnourishment 25:57 Vegetarian keto 29:40 Ehlers-Danlos syndrome 31:55 Relationship with food 35:13 Food is medicine 36:34 Mental health on the carnivore diet 39:26 Shawn's first experience with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome 43:51 Betty's pregnancy 48:10 Meat aversion during pregnancy 50:34 Where to find Betty See open positions at Revero: https://jobs.lever.co/Revero/ Join Carnivore Diet for a free 30 day trial: https://carnivore.diet/join/ Book a Carnivore Coach: https://carnivore.diet/book-a-coach/ Carnivore Shirts: https://merch.carnivore.diet Subscribe to our Newsletter: https://carnivore.diet/subscribe/ . #revero #shawnbaker #Carnivorediet #MeatHeals #HealthCreation #humanfood #AnimalBased #ZeroCarb #DietCoach #FatAdapted #Carnivore #sugarfree

She writes on prison and jail conditions, and wrongful convictions. Her investigation we discuss is called Internal Report Details Severely Malnourished Detainees at Atlanta-Area Jail, where the facility's medical provider described people with mental illness wasting away in a unit overrun by an outbreak of lice and scabies. Welcome and thank you for listening! Our special guest today is, Dr Ida du Plessis-Faurie, a Registered Nurse and Midwife, with a PhD in Maternal and Child Nursing: Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science. A model for nurses to facilitate mother's caring for their preterm infants in the community stemmed from her research. She completed her Master's degree in Advanced Neonatal Nursing (cum laude) and worked in NICUs over a period of +/- 22 years. As a neonatal nursing consultant, Ida can live out her passion regarding maternal and child health, by running her private practice and teaching healthcare professionals regarding neonatal care. Ida developed five short learning programmes, one of the programmes resulting from her doctoral studies. The programmes developed as she observed and experienced a gap in knowledge and skills regarding neonatal care, particular to the current South African context. In today's podcast she will be talking about Prematurity, the impact it has on Baby and what can be done to help Baby grow and develop in healthy way... A Premature Start To Life Here are some basic facts to help you better relate to the preemie-moms you may meet. People often think that premature babies are simply born before ‘term' babies; they stay in the NICU until they're out of any life-threatening danger and until they've caught up, and then everything's back to normal – right? Not quite. What Does Prematurity Mean? A premature baby is born before the usual 37-40 weeks. They're not only smaller, but also often underdeveloped, born before they are completely mature or ready. The good news is that with the quality of medical care available today, most preemies have a very good chance of survival. Some preemies will need intensive care, but others may only need a bit of specialised care. In addition, low-tech strategies like skin-to-skin and kangaroo mother care make all the difference and can be safely used for most premature babies; research shows how these babies often adjust to conditions out of the womb better, breastfeed more successfully and pick up weight faster. Possible Complications Very premature babies can be quite a shock to see: purplish-red with wrinkled skin and more vernix and body hair than in term babies. Usually, the smaller and more premature Baby is, the more complications like breathing and heart problems, digestive difficulties, stunted growth and anaemia there are. There might also be: Temperature control problems – Baby doesn't have enough body fat to keep warm, so he uses all the energy from food to stay warm instead of for growing. Weak immunity –Baby may be prone to catching infections in the first months. Problems feeding – breastfeeding may take a bit more patience, but Baby needs every drop of breast milk's goodness. Solids are only introduced at about six months corrected age, so that's quite a bit later than for term babies. Hearing and vision problems – Baby will need to be tested regularly in the early years. Tactile defensiveness – an inability to tolerate touch stimulation; Baby will arch away from contact, cry constantly, and dislike labels in clothing and lumps in food. Some of Baby's milestones may be a little bit delayed compared to term babies, but he should catch up by the time he starts school. Most preemies outgrow all complications, but there are some more serious conditions which may continue into adulthood. Corrected age is worked out from Baby's due date instead of his date of birth. Factors Contributing To Premature Birth Smoking, drug, and alcohol use Cervix and uterine abnormalities Malnourishment – especially if Mom has a zinc deficiency Multiple pregnancy – twins, triplets and more Heavy physical labour Prolonged, severe stress Very young women (teenagers) or women over the age of 35 Thank you so much for joining us today. Since the pandemic, hunger and poverty are even worse for most of the 6 million indigenous people in the country. Many children lost years of education and their future looks bleak. But there are also many who try to help.
Just as our bodies are living, breathing environments that require the right foods to thrive, our relationships require the right resources to thrive. When we starve our relationships of all the healthy practices it needs, we experience a malnourished relationship. Welcome to another episode of the Understanding Disordered Eating podcast. In this episode, we will be diving deeper into the Minnesota Starvation Experiment or the Minnesota Semi Starvation Experiment. This study was conducted by Ancel Keys, who was a professor of Physiology at the University of Minnesota. During World War II, he was a consultant to the War Department, and wanted to study the effects of starvation most significantly for those who were in the war, and how to provide post-war rehabilitation. Though this study is being cited all the time, it is important to note that it only had a total of 32 participants. And while it has a very small sample size, the information that we learn from the study is still significant and important. There seems to only be the people who are in the "Body Positivity Movement" or in the "Weight-Loss Positive" Movement" right now. What we truly need is that middle ground, where we want to nourish our minds, body, and soul. We are talking to Laurie Somma about that middle ground today! How the last year has changed her perspective and allowed what she really desires to come forward. She fired all her clients, quit her business, and made a huge change in her life to make sure she had time for what was important. Being present in the current moment with herself, her family, and most of all her body! Laurie is creating an amazing thing, THE nourishing MOVEMENT! That can fill the gap from wanting to change our bodies to being enough, to being overly comfortable that we don't really think about our bodies, to the middle ground. Where we learn to nourish through food, movement, mental health, and self-love. It all starts with unbuilding the beliefs that we have been taught and leaning into what we really believe is true to our life! #nourishwithlaurie www.youtube.com/lauriesomma www.instagram.com/iamlauriesomma

*TW*Today I am joined with a fellow anorexia warrior, Brittney (@bites_by_b), to have a no-filter, raw conversation of our experiences with eating disorders. We raise awareness of the psychologically damaging reality of anorexia nervosa, how isolating, terrifying and identity engulfing it can become – seeking comfort and control in abusing, malnourishing and depriving our bodies. How small habits and rituals can detrimentally develop and amplify into a sinister, life threatening situation, where your individual lifestyle, behaviours, characteristics are controlled and altered in aid of the harmful progression of the eating disorderWe also discuss our poor experience with doctors within the recovery process – where medical practitioners solely focus on reverting symptoms, rather than providing consideration towards psychological triggers and mental health issues.Often, and specifically within our situations, the severity of the illness is totally minimised – being refused treatment due to weight not being perceived as “low enough”, which only triggered the anorexia further, craving validation – only pushing us to pursue the disordered tendencies, putting us into a life threatening position. Thus raising the discussion on the essentiality of early intervention and the application of prevention techniques.Overall, we talk toxic environments, heavily dysmorphic mindsets and how this harmful illness influences and manipulates you to totally dictate and dedicate your life to it – no matter the detrimental consequences upon your emotional and physical health, relationships or future.Due to the nature of the discussion, I would like to pre-warm any listeners of a fragile mindset and apply a trigger warning. The conversations we have regarding our previous circumstances are very raw, and can possibly be translated as triggering, so please skip this episode if you think it may impact you negatively.https://www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk/

Purnota Dutta Bahl of Cuddles Foundation provides nutrition to children undergoing cancer treatment. Being based in India, Purnota explained the barriers of cancer treatment for children within the country. Malnourishment is one of those barriers slimming the odds of proper treatment. Malnourished children can experience disruptive side effects during chemotherapy, and drop out of treatment. The organization believes “every child deserves a chance at cure”, and is determined to protect the probability of recovery. Cuddles Foundation does not focus solely on giving food to children. Purnota explained the initiative educated parents/ guardians, wrote nutrition prescriptions, sent nutritional baskets worth one month of nutrition, and educated nutritionists across the country in the science of pediatric oncology nutrition. Everything is done to ensure a better condition for undergoing cancer treatment. From the start, the initiative was intentional in purpose, and “let’s see how this goes” in actions. She has an instinct of treating the initiative like a startup. For example, Purnota recounted how she found herself at an opportunity with only ten days to register proper paperwork for Cuddles Foundation. The social enterprise benefited from her tendency to not waste a chance, and her skill of recognizing when to “push the panel harder”. As the organization developed, there was a need to create awareness around the specific cause of the initiative. In this case, the cause is “how important nutrition is in cancer treatment”. Rallying support produced a challenge at times, but Purnota made a point of succinct advocacy and meeting the right people at the right time. Following this lesson came a lesson many social enterprises face, which is forming a qualified team. Purnota expressed the gap between not having funds to pay the same rates corporations offer and a hiring qualified, cutting edge team. Her solution was to build a small core team. The core team of qualified individuals led to high performance and exponential results. Of course, we imagine this outcome not developing linearly, but unfolding ultimately. She summed up the key combination of securing a strong core team that has better potential to scale: “... bring the people in, then you make sure that they feel fulfilled, that the work is such good quality, that they themselves will bring in money and they themselves will bring in people.”-- Purnota Bahl Purnota dug further into this topic on which individuals to engage if you want to produce these kinds of cooperative relationships. Most of the interaction is helping people know that they have a stake in the action, empowerment, and value. Cuddles Foundation approaches their operations by providing value from multiple sides and embraces mindset shifts. Purnota explained the future projects and goals the Cuddles Foundation is pursuing, including technology. She then explained past mindsets, even mentioning the beneficial e-commerce habit the Cuddles Foundation adopted. The organization is showing everyone how nutrition is an undeniable root cause in health treatment and needs an all-around approach. Caiyu is a modern-day medicine man and ceremonialist, who has been walking the path of sacred medicine for nearly 10 years now. From his various offerings via his website and online community, MedicinePath.net, and also his new podcast Bird Song (which is absolutely incredible), Caiyu seeks to shed light on all things relating to Shamanism, nature based spirituality, storytelling, earth-honoring traditions, rites of passage, and a remembering of the sacred ways.We met back in 2018 during a Huachuma ceremony in Cuzco, Peru, and it has been an honor to keep in touch with one another over the years. In today’s episode, we discuss Caiyu’s personal transformation from living a wild life on tour as a drummer in Australia, to having what he describes as a lightning bolt experience which served as a catalyst for him to begin walking a sacred path of remembrance. We discuss his initial travels down to South America, where he was first exposed to visionary plant medicines such as Ayahuasca and Huachuma, the importance that ceremony plays in his life, how to address the spiritual malnourishment we as a society are facing today, the power of Kambo, a profound frog medicine from the depths of the Amazon, the importance of initiation, elderhood, and so much more. Everything we discussed in this episode is of deep interest to me and has played a large role in my life and also why I even started this podcast, so it was a real pleasure having Caiyu share his time and wisdom with us all on this episode.YouTube Version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NegV-xpN64o&feature=youtu.beFollow Caiyu on Instagram and Facebook:https://www.instagram.com/caiyu.kiora/https://www.facebook.com/ck.medicinepathTune into Caiyu's new podcast "Bird Song" and other online offerings via:https://www.medicinepath.net/https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0mfsy36u-_mg2DPVo6tlRghttps://www.patreon.com/ckmedicinepath--Please subscribe and leave a short review if you've enjoyed this podcast; this support will really help us grow our platform immensely. "Kundalini" Karisa Johnston was born with a brilliant mind aided with a photographic memory. Although she excelled in math and science, her dyslexia, in the 80s, became all the adults paid attention to. Throughout school she found herself in special needs classes. Dyslexia wasn't a "run-of-the-mill" shortcoming as is seen in the 21st century. Scared to fall behind to the other kids in her class, Karisa would often times memorize entire chapters of text books the night before with her mother, so she could recite them by heart the next day, if and when she was called upon to participate. Being a fully aware and already enlightened being, Karisa saw first-hand why people with disabilities were called "special" and it wasn't what the adults were talking about. She saw fully-capable minded humans, trapped in bodies that didn't quite work as expected and being treated as if they were broken or less-than. This experience as a young girl would become the motivation for her Elevation Toolbox Method, which she travels around the world teaching. Karisa didn't always have it all figured out. After she sold her dog grooming business and watched her 10-year marriage fall a part before her eyes, she became determined to understand what the heck had happened in her life. Not too long after, during a conversation with a friend, she heard the word "kundalini" for the first time. It resonated with her so much that after further research, she decided to travel the world studying the 5000 year old ancient science of mantras, mudras, and breath work. She started in Canada and went as far as India, while pursuing her M.A. in psychology. Her goal was to understand the science behind this ancient practice that uses vibrations and touch points to activate the 27 different glands within the human body that maintain our hormones and in-turn, emotions. She wanted to create a practice so simple that somebody with limited range of motion could do it sitting, standing, or lying down. --- "The tongue is triggered to touch reflex points to send vibrations up through the meridian points, or energy lines into the brain, particularly, the pituitary gland, which is the master gland of the brain. When it's activated at its highest frequency or 'best self,' then it is able to manage all the other glands in the brain and in the body." Along with the 84,000 reflex points in the roof of the mouth providing meridian lines to stimulate glands throughout the body, "mulas" or certain arm, hand, and finger positions also activate meridian points. They send messages to the glandular system to release cortisol and adrenaline which are caused by stress, which is caused from feeling overwhelmed because we are literally holding our breath with anxiety. Kundalini Karisa's Elevation Toolbox uses specific mantras, mulas, and breathing techniques to put you back into your original state of being. By touching your thumb to each of your pointer, middle, ring, and pinky fingers, one by one, while reciting "sock, tah, nah, mah" -- you can take yourself out of a heightened emotional state in less than 1-3 minutes to create more space and peace from within, giving you more control from without. Ellie Hollander is the President and CEO of Meals on Wheels America and has been a long-time advocate for the health and wellness of vulnerable seniors throughout her career. One of the most fundamental needs is helping to ensure seniors receive proper nutrition. According to Hollander, research has shown that people who are malnourished age 14 years more than their current age, which in turn creates a variety of health issues. Hunger in Older Adults also found that 33% of older adults admitted to the hospital may be malnourished and that malnourishment can increase healthcare costs by 300%. Taken together, these statistics show the impact on a community when hunger is not addressed. Find out more about what Meals on Wheels is doing to provide seniors with nutritious meals, a friendly visit, and regular safety checks.

Tonight's special guest is Shirley Alexis Johnson, originally from Oklahoma, who comes to us now from Washington State. Ms Johnson is a survivor of various kinds of child abuse and the founder of several early childhood trauma and adoption related support groups. A victim of abandonment 3 times as a child and a Native American of Cherokee genealogy, she was first given up by her birth parents in 1973. At just one and a half, Shirley was diagnosed as suffering from the effects of Severe Starvation, Malnourishment and Neglect, and was not expected to survive. She later enduring an abusive but failed 6 year adoption from age 3 to age 9. This ended in a painful termination due to the abuse and daily isolation from human contact. Transferred to the Pacific Northwest, she was re-adopted at 12 into a home with a pedophile and alcoholic father. After a year she was able to convince her adoptive mother to divorce him. At 14 Ms Johnson entered into crisis response and support programs meant to promote her own healing. But she found many of those who were supposed to help her hadn't a clue how treat her. She says, "I learned as a teen that I needed to identify my emotions. I began writing a journal, which I continue to do today." Volunteering with other high risk teenagers was another outlet that finally connected Shirley to the world. She'd never bonded with a human being as a child. She writes, "My endeavors gradually became my life's daily purpose in accordance with the response I began receiving early on from adult survivors of abuse."
