On April 11, 1981, fifteen-year-old Barbara Cotton walked out of her home in Williston, North Dakota, and vanished without a trace. For decades, police dismissed her disappearance as a runaway case, relying on a timeline that may have been completely wrong. But as witnesses came forward, suspects died, and independent investigators uncovered long-forgotten leads, the story became far more disturbing. Was Barbara taken by a schizophrenic drifter? A serial predator passing through the oil fields? Or someone much closer to home? Tonight, we examine North Dakota's longest-running missing person mystery.   HAH DISCORD - https://discord.com/invite/bJdbpH3hQm   YouTube -  https://www.youtube.com/@HauntedAmericanHistory   TikTok - @hah_podcast hauntedamericanhistory.com   Patreon- https://www.patreon.com/hauntedamericanhistory   LINKS FOR MY DEBUT NOVEL, THE FORGOTTEN BOROUGH   Barnes and Noble -   https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-forgotten-borough-christopher-feinstein/1148274794?ean=9798319693334 AMAZON: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FQPQD68S Ebook GOOGLE: https://play.google.com/store/books/details?id=S5WCEQAAQBAJ&pli=1 KOBO: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-forgotten-borough-2?sId=a10cf8af-5fbd-475e-97c4-76966ec87994&ssId=DX3jihH_5_2bUeP1xoje_ SMASHWORD: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/1853316   !! Eight women. That's what Rex Heuermann pleaded guilty to. Seventeen years of killing. But former FBI behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke has said the likelihood the number stopped at eight is “limited to none.” If Dreeke is right, there are families out there who don't know the Gilgo Beach case has anything to do with them — people whose loved ones disappeared and were never connected to Heuermann. The FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit interview, built into the plea deal, may be the only way those names surface. The same interview program confirmed Samuel Little as the most prolific serial killer in U.S. history after he confessed to ninety-three murders in a dozen states. Many of Little's victims had been written off — deaths ruled overdoses or accidents, cases closed without answers. The interview reopened every one of them.Tony digs into why the FBI has been interviewing convicted killers since the 1970s and what the program has actually produced: a national crime database, a behavioral classification system used worldwide, and the recovery of remains that families had waited decades to bury. Gary Ridgway's six months of FBI interviews led investigators to four women whose families had never been able to lay them to rest. The criticism of the Heuermann interview is understandable — it gives a convicted killer attention. The FBI's fifty-year track record says the attention is a tool, not a reward. What it produces is the point. And what it might produce here is the answer to whether eight is the real number or just the floor.LinksJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Was the resurrection of Jesus planned long before it happened? In this episode, Dr. Bryan Cutshall explores the powerful connection between Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Feast of First Fruits, revealing how these biblical feasts prophetically pointed to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ centuries before the events took place. Discover the significance of the striped and broken matzah, the meaning behind First Fruits, and why the resurrection happened at the exact appointed time in God’s redemptive plan. More than a historical event, the resurrection is a reminder that what appears to be the end is often where God begins something new. In this episode, you’ll learn: • How the Jewish feasts point to Jesus Christ • The prophetic meaning of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits • Why the resurrection of Jesus fulfills biblical prophecy • What First Fruits reveals about the believer’s future resurrection • How God’s plan was unfolding long before anyone could see it • Why the grave was never the end of the story Whether you’re interested in Bible prophecy, the Jewish roots of Christianity, or growing deeper in your understanding of Scripture, this episode offers powerful insights into one of the most important events in history. In September 2025, Peter Mandelson — then the United Kingdom's Ambassador to the United States — was dismissed (effectively recalled and fired) by Prime Minister Keir Starmer after revelations about his longstanding social relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein surfaced. Emails published earlier that year showed Mandelson had maintained contact with Epstein after Epstein's 2008 conviction and had expressed supportive sentiments toward him, which diplomats said was far deeper than what had been known at the time of his appointment. Those communications raised questions about his judgment and suitability for the high-profile diplomatic post, prompting Starmer to remove him from the position immediately. In February 2026, the scandal escalated when authorities arrested Mandelson on 23 February on suspicion of misconduct in public office. This followed the release of internal documents and emails from the U.S. Department of Justice's Epstein files suggesting he may have shared sensitive government information with Epstein during his time in government in 2009–10. As part of the fallout, Mandelson resigned from the House of Lords and the Labour Party, and British police executed search warrants at his residences as part of a criminal investigation. His arrest reflects widening legal and political consequences from the Epstein file revelations that have also embroiled other high-profile figures.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

Ravenloft is supposed to be full of gothic horror, tragic villains, and creeping dread. Instead, we somehow spent twenty minutes imagining a Midwestern Strahd saying You betcha before drinking your blood, arguing about wet burritos, and debating whether North Dakota counts as a real place. By the time we actually opened the book, the greatest horror wasn't the Dark Powers. It was realizing that someone somewhere willingly ordered a hot wet beef sandwich. Show Notes We finally returned to Ravenloft with The Horrors Within and dug into the new player options from Wizards of the Coast. Along the way we examined the subclasses, talked about what survived from the Unearthed Arcana playtest, and debated whether some of the changes actually improved the designs or simply made them safer. The Reanimator Artificer immediately caught our attention with its wonderfully creepy flavor. We loved the concept of Frankensteining together an undead companion and modifying it over time, even if the final numbers often felt disappointingly conservative. The subclass oozes atmosphere, but several features left us wishing Wizards had trusted the design enough to let it hit a little harder. The College of Spirits Bard received some welcome improvements from the playtest version. Moving the random spirit effects away from mandatory immediate use made the subclass far more practical, and controlled channeling solved many of the frustrations we had previously identified. This version finally delivers on the fantasy of consulting strange entities from beyond without constantly fighting against the mechanics. We also revisited the Grave Domain Cleric and looked at the redesigned Path to the Grave. While the old version was undeniably flashier, the new implementation is much easier to use in any party composition. It may not create those huge cinematic damage spikes anymore, but it provides reliable support every time it comes online. As always, our review quickly spiraled into side discussions involving Call of Cthulhu, sturgeon festivals, Midwestern rivalries, taxes, and the eternal mystery of why so many fantasy character illustrations are suspiciously attractive. That's just another day at the RPGBOT.Podcast. Key Takeaways Ravenloft: The Horrors Within delivers strong gothic flavor and some excellent artwork. The Reanimator Artificer has fantastic thematic design but several mechanics feel overly cautious. Lightning interactions with the undead companion create some amusing and creative tactics. College of Spirits Bard benefited significantly from feedback and is much easier to play effectively. Controlled Channeling fixes many of the frustrations from the Unearthed Arcana version. Grave Domain Cleric lost some of its explosive potential but gained consistency. The revised Path to the Grave works better across a wider variety of party compositions. Several subclasses showcase great ideas that feel slightly undertuned. Flavor and atmosphere are consistently strong throughout the book. No matter how serious the subject matter becomes, the conversation will eventually derail into food arguments, regional insults, or bizarre fantasy accents. Welcome to the RPGBOT Podcast. On the afternoon of 10th January 1883, King Cetshwayo kaMpande climbed off a skiff and onto the beach at Port Dunford, surviving the heavy and powerful surf. The British had been using this stretch of desolate sand as their transport hub into Zululand, which is south of the modern harbour of Richard's Bay. King Cetshwayo then stepped out of the wet boat onto the sand of Port Durnford, where he was formally met by British official Sir Theophilus Shepstone to begin his return to Zululand. Cetshwayo looked around — there was no welcoming committee of his people. Shepstone has purposely kept the date of the King's return a secret, this after 3 years in exile. It was just the sort of thing at which Theophilus excelled — a thoughtful deviousness. The British brought him back to lead a detachment of 6th Dragoons to greet the old Zulu king, and to escort Cetshwayo back to Mthonjaneni above the the emaKhosini valley. Which he did. Shortly after they arrived in early January, Mandlakazi leader Zibhebu came to Mthonjaneni, but not to pay respects to Cetshwayo, he made a grand point of greeting Shepstone, his patron, and ignoring the king. Zululand had been fractured, and Cetshwayo now led a broken people where the different regions were alienated from royal control. Cetshwayo had been restored, but their country was divided. The uSuthu regiment in particular were aghast they were forced to remain under Zibhebhu's rule — he was a tyrant and hated. For the previous 12 months, a game of smoke and mirrors had confounded the king. When he returned from visiting Queen Victoria in England in September 1882, he had been told he was to return home almost immediately. The actual boundaries of his kingdom were undefined. Natal officials were terrified of Cetshwayo, sure that he would invoke the spirits of Dingana and Shaka, and the Zulu would rise up once more. They wanted to confine Cetshwayo to the central portion of his former kingdom, where he would be managed by a Resident supervisor Henry Francis Fynn Junior. In the north, Zibhebhu, Cetshwayo's implacable enemy, would rule independently — the only independent chief out of the 13 selected by the British to rule over different territories in Zululand. Zibhebhu took control over the land north of the Black Mfolozi, land which was dominated by pro-Cetshwayo locals and Zibhebhu was distinctly anti-Cetshwayo. It was into this newly divvied up landscape that Cetshwayo returned in early 1883. Shepstone officiated over the handover of power, and once again, was forced to face a plethora of complaints delivered by the king's men, including Mnyamana's induna Hemulaana. The kings restoration, they said, was a disgrace. Ever the thin-skinned settler, Shepstone was outraged, he was merely a clerk, sent by the British to dot a few I's and cross a few T's, he had no power to alter any of the conditions. After the tongue lashing, he and the dragoons hurried back to the safety of Natal muttering about the insults they'd been forced to endure. With stuffy old Shepstone gone, the Zulu let their hair down == Let the party begin — but the reality of his situation was clear to Cetshwayo. While his homestead at oNdini had been reinstated east of the original town burned down by the British, it was smaller. Still, almost 1000 huts were built in the traditional stye of an ikhanda with the isigodlo at the top, all protocols observed. Well almost all. A large number of senior indunas and chiefs were absent. After Shepstone left, Zibhebhu left too. Hamu stayed aaway. Mfanawendlela did arrive, somewhat shamefaced, it was he who had committed a sacrilege of planting crops on King Mpande's Grave on Mahlabathini plain. But things had changed, when he walked into the isigodlo, he did not prostrate himself before the Zulu king, but idled up to one of the chairs and sat down as if he was Cetshwayo's equal.

Matthew applies three interlocking frameworks to the conspirituality phenomenon—and to the podcast itself. Drawing on Jodi Dean's theory of neofeudalism, Yanis Varoufakis's technofeudalism, and McKenzie Wark's vectoralism, he argues that conspirituality is an epistemic crisis—a problem of bad information spreading through inadequately critical communities—but also a structural product of platform capitalism's feudal logic. Dean's four elements (parcellated sovereignty, new lords and serfs, hinterlandization, and catastrophic anxiety) explain why certain populations are rendered susceptible before they encounter any specific piece of misinformation. Varoufakis names the extraction mechanism as  cloud rent. Wark shows what this means for the producer: a hacker class worker who owns every tool except the vector that makes the work valuable.  Matthew then turns the analysis on himself, exploring what it means to have spent six years building critical content inside the infrastructure he is criticising. He called once. Gave coordinates. Described clothing. Fifteen volunteers searched the Mariposa arroyos near the Arizona-Mexico border and found nothing. Then he called back. New directions. A second search. Still nothing. A third search was scheduled. And through all of it, this anonymous man never contacted the FBI, never contacted Pima County, and never reached for the million-dollar-plus reward that has been sitting unclaimed since Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Tucson home. The persistence is either the behavior of someone who genuinely knows where she is and miscalculated the exact location — or it's the behavior of someone adjusting a fabricated story in real time after each miss. Robin Dreeke has spent a career distinguishing between those two patterns. He ran the FBI's Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program, and what he sees in this caller's behavior connects to every unverifiable claim this case has generated — from the ransom notes sent to media outlets to this tip sent to a volunteer collective in cartel territory. The routing alone tells a story. The ransom notes bypassed law enforcement and went to newsrooms. This tip bypassed law enforcement and went to a nonprofit search group in Sonora. Dreeke explains what that pattern means behaviorally — and why the caller's willingness to provide increasingly specific details after failed searches doesn't necessarily make the tip more credible. It may make it less. The Pima County Sheriff's Department says it hasn't been contacted by Mexican authorities. No U.S. law enforcement participated in the searches.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? On this episode of Expanded Perspectives, the guys dive headfirst into a collection of strange encounters that blur the lines between folklore, the paranormal, and the truly unexplained.A witness near Big Bear Lake, California reports a terrifying encounter with a pale, four-legged humanoid that sprinted up a tree and leaped effortlessly through the treetops. In Tennessee, a hiker experiences what feels like an invisible shove while passing a historic cemetery, raising questions about whether the dead were offended by a careless joke. Another listener recounts witnessing six glittering, DNA-like spirals hovering above a freshly plowed field, accompanied by an unsettling bout of missing time. The strangeness continues with a report of a twelve-foot-tall "walking tree" crossing a northern Minnesota wetland, an encounter later connected to Ojibwe traditions describing spirit guardians of the forest. A childhood sighting of a shimmering, mirage-like humanoid leaves one listener wondering if they encountered a real-life Glimmer Man. Then, a Texas family shares a multi-generational mystery involving alien visitors, missing time near White Sands, cattle mutilations, and an unusual Air Force intelligence-testing program. Finally, a late-night commuter in rural Southern California comes face-to-face with a towering, stilt-legged "Not Deer" whose unnatural movements and monstrous proportions leave a lasting impression. From spectral encounters and strange entities to lost time, living trees, and impossible creatures, this episode is packed with the kind of listener experiences that keep us questioning what may be lurking just beyond the edge of our understanding. All of this and more on this installment of Expanded Perspectives!Sponsors:IQBAR: Right now, IQBAR is offering our special podcast listeners 20% off all IQBAR products, plus get FREE shipping. My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Linda Margolin Royal, author of the book The Star on the Grave. Linda Margolin Royal was born in Sydney, forever thankful her father and grandparents received life-saving transit visas from Chiune Sugihara in 1940, which enabled them to enter Japan and escape the Holocaust. This ultimately meant they could find a permanent, safe home in Australia in 1941. The remainder of her family, numbering in the hundreds, was murdered in concentration camps. She trained as a graphic designer and then copywriter, and spent thirty years in the advertising industry both in Australia and the US, writing advertisement scripts for TV and radio, and general press advertising for multinational newspapers and billboards. Linda's creative bent extends to abstract painting and drawing from live models. The Star on the Grave is her first novel.   In my book review, I stated The Star on the Grave by Linda Margolin Royal is a Holocaust historical fiction. I love historical fiction, especially those based on true family history and those that give me an insight into an aspect of history I didn't know.   The novel is a dual timeline showing Rachel's life in 1968 and her grandmother and father's life in 1940 - relatives of the author. We learn of a Polish Jewish family escaping the Nazis through Lithuania and a brave Japanese diplomat, unknown to me, named Chiune Sugihara who issued thousands of visas to save them. This novel hit both of my loves!   I also love great characters, and this novel doesn't disappoint. I immediately came to love Rachel and felt her despair, anger, grief, and eventual understanding as her world shattered around her. Her grandmother is a character who is deserving of her own book! Linda did such a great job describing her that I could both see and hear her in my head as I read. And even Rachel's father, though not a warm and fuzzy character, held me captive.   This is a great read. A definite must-read. And finally, a kidnapper at large in the Tucson area, just 15 minutes from Guthrie’s house, has nothing to do with the missing 84-year-old mother and grandmother. Bill Gates has some big regrets when it comes to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Yesterday, Gates testified to the House Oversight Committee about his past ties to Epstein. In a closed-door hearing, Gates said Epstein attempted to leverage information about Gates's extramarital affairs “to pressure me to re-engage with him” after Gates had begun to cut ties. Gates said he regretted meeting with Epstein, but had never seen Epstein commit criminal conduct, and denied victimizing anyone. He acknowledged the meetings were a “grave error in judgment” that risked his reputation and his philanthropic work. Meanwhile, Epstein‘s longtime former personal assistant is reportedly giving Congress some names of people connected to Epstein. This comes as the House Oversight Committee Chair is reportedly working to bring acting AG Todd, Blanche in to testify. We welcome former federal prosecutor, and now defense attorney, David Katz to talk about the new revelations and whether there may be any legal fallout. We are excited to talk politics with Russ Baker. He is the founder of news organization whowhatwhy.org Then, we'll find out what's new to sip and wear at Coachellavalleycoffee.com as Roastmaster General Cliff Young stops by the show.
