He was 71. Hurt's death was confirmed to Variety by his friend, Gerry Byrne. His son Will said in a statement, “It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes.” Hurt was nominated for four Oscars over the course of his long career, scoring two best actor nominations for “Broadcast News” and “Children of a Lesser God” and a supporting actor nod for less than 10 minutes of screen time in “A History of Violence.” He was one of the most heralded performers of the 1980s, becoming something of a cerebral sex symbol and a reluctant, albeit bankable, movie star. Hurt later transitioned into character roles in the 1990s and successfully alternated between big screen projects and television, scoring Emmy nominations for his work as a whistleblower in “Damages” and his portrayal of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson in “Too Big to Fail.” More recently, Hurt became well known to a younger generation of movie lovers with his portrayal of the no-nonsense General Thaddeus Ross in 2008's “The Incredible Hulk.” He later reprised the role in “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Avengers: Endgame” and “Black Widow.” MCU – MARVEL STUDIOS Box This week's Empire Podcast takes things to the next level. Mainly because Olly Richards sits down with Jake Kasdan, director of Jumanji: The Next Level, to hear how he made the sequel to the 2017 surprise smash, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. Also, the great Jonathan Pryce — star of The Two Popes — has a chat about that film, and more, with John Nugent. Then, back in the podbooth, Chris Hewitt returns to host, and is joined by Helen O'Hara and (latterly) Ian Freer as they discuss movies that act as a fillip in the middle of a bout of pure existential dread (no reason), discuss the week's movie news, including trailers for Wonder Woman 1984 and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and review a whole bunch of movies, including Jumanji: The Next Level, 6 Underground, The Two Popes, and Black Christmas. There's also a bit of singing. Be warned. Enjoy.
The one where Green Blooded Bastard watches Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. In this movie, The Rock runs around rage kicking ass and looking for BJs at every turn while wearing a fucking lion's head like a fucking hat... jk! This movie is fucking off the gd hook son!
We're still running on empty after the big 10th anniversary episode! So this week, we mainly discuss Krissy's first time watching Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle (2017) and BOTH of our first times watching Equilibrium (2002)! But - we also quickly mention the 2017 documentary #FedUp and this year's Late Night! [Watch the video interview on our YouTube Channel] Henry Jackman's versatility has always been one of his strongest assets as a storyteller. Henry has given us amazing scores across a variety of genres, and his ability to shift gears drastically from project to project is nothing short of impressive. On our last All Access with Henry we covered a lot of ground. This time we still do plenty of ground covering, but with more focus on recent projects such as Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, The Predator and Ralph Breaks The Internet. Henry reminds of his amazing path to becoming a composer including working with Hans Zimmer and what he remembers from his first solo score with Monsters vs. Aliens. Henry also talks about the phone call he had with Alan Silvestri about scoring The Predator, which happens to be one of Henry’s favorite scores and the reason why he fell in love with film music. Other topics include what characteristics a great director needs to have, tackling different genres, the recipe for doing sequels, and Henry talks briefly of what we can expect from his work in 2019. Henry helps us close out 2018 with another wonderful All Access! Interview Produced & Presented by Kaya Savas Special Thanks: Henry Jackman, Matt Justmann, Allison Swift

Vi har spanat in uppföljaren Jumanji - Welcome To The Jungle.

As the year is winding down, we catch up with Henry Jackman who is one of our favorite guests on Film.Music.Media. Since Henry was recently a guest on our All Access series, we instead focus just on all the happenings in Henry's world since the last time we spoke to him. We dive into Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle where Henry talks about how exciting it was to create a score truly built on themes and melodies. Hear Henry talk about how he channeled the musical spirits of James Horner and Alan Silvestri to really try and make a rousing symphonic adventure score, which we don't get often these days. Henry also talks about returning to the world of Matthew Vaughn with Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Henry talks about how he and co-composer Matthew Margeson tackled the second entry in Vaughn's stylish series. With 2018 almost here we finish up our chat by looking forward to what's ahead!
