When love and real estate collide, things can get messy. A new listener writes in after moving into their partner's home—a home that's been theirs for nearly a decade, kids and all. The couple is serious, even planning to elope, but the money side of the relationship? Totally unplanned. How do you contribute fairly when you don't technically own the house? How do you protect yourself without seeming selfish? And what conversations should couples really have before moving in together? Pete and Kristen unpack the unwritten rules of cohabitation, from cohab agreements to avoiding the “floating system” trap. Whether you're dating, shacking up, or already living in a blended household, this episode explores the fine line between romance and responsibility—because building a future together requires more than just sharing groceries.

Tonight, we'll read the second half of “The Story of the Herons,” from a collection titled Moonshine and Clover written by Laurence Housman and published in 1922. The first half aired last week. In the previous episode, a princess was placed under a peculiar curse—destined to fall in love at first sight with whatever creature she saw. To protect her, her parents kept her hidden from the world, allowing only carefully supervised walks in the forest while wearing a blindfold. But a spiteful fairy intervened, and when the blindfold was removed, the princess's eyes fell upon a solitary heron fishing in a stream. Overcome by enchantment, she loved him instantly. Moved by their daughter's longing, the king and queen consented to have her transformed into a heron so she could be with her chosen mate. A kindly fairy offered a small hope: if the heron could love her with the depth and devotion of a human heart, they could both regain human form. But as the story left off, news arrived that the princess had laid two eggs in her nest—an event that may bring the tale to a very different ending than anyone expected. — read by 'V' — Sign up for Snoozecast+ to get expanded, ad-free access by going to snoozecast.com/plus! Once, long ago, there lived the Asura Dharuka, whose cruelty tormented both devas and humans. To end his tyranny, Lord Paramashiva sent forth his daughter, the fierce Goddess Bhadrakali, to destroy him. Bhadrakali fought bravely and slew Dharuka. But his wife, the beautiful Manodari, could not bear the loss. Grief-stricken, she turned to Paramashiva himself and performed deep tapas. Moved by her devotion, Paramashiva granted her a few drops of his divine sweat, telling her that with this she could wield a power over people. On her way back, still burning with anger, Manodari encountered Bhadrakali, who was returning victorious after killing Dharuka. In her fury, she sprinkled the sweat on Bhadrakali, and instantly, the goddess was struck with the affliction of smallpox.Bhadrakali fell on the path to Kailasa, her body covered in blisters. Alarmed, the Bhooth Ganas rushed to Lord Shiva. From his power, he created Khandakarna, who came and licked the goddess's body, cleansing her of the disease—yet Bhadrakali chose to keep the marks of smallpox on her face as her ornament, a symbol of her fierce beauty. But she had not forgotten Manodari's deed. In her wrath, Bhadrakali cut away Manodari's eyes, ears, and legs. She then transformed her into Vasuri Mala Bhagavathi, binding her forever as one of her Bhooth Ganas. From then on, it was believed that Vasuri Mala carried the power of smallpox, a goddess both feared and worshipped, who reminds us of divine justice and the dangers of arrogance and revenge

I’m joined for this episode by two guys who spent decades turning a smart, biting sense of humor into underground, DIY favorites as part of Too Much Joy, and later… Wonderlick. We talked during the pandemic about Too Much Joy in a standard COVID-era “Zoom” chat… and this time around, I met Tim Quirk and Jay Blumenfield in person. We met at the wonderful Blue Island Beer Company, where the band was set to play later in the evening. Sitting outside on a perfect Chicago weather day, we chatted about: -The differences between Too Much Joy and Wonderlick -The new album, “Wonderlick Goes to War” -Tim’s obsessiveness about… everything? -Why is there a documentary crew following them around everywhere? -What the studio sessions were like for this album -What being a musician is like in 2025, as opposed to Too Much Joy’s heyday -The Chicago connection to the new Wonderlick album -Vinko Bogotaj: Who was he? Why does Wonderlick have a song about him? -There’s a major Too Much Joy reissue on the way! See Wonderlick on tour, and give “Wonderlick Goes to War” a listen. They’re awesome. Gospel Daily with Josh Weidmann From Crowds to Christ: A Journey from Getting to Giving, Part 2 Series: Unveiled Scripture: Mark 1:21–45 Episode: 1411 If any of these questions resonate, this sermon speaks directly to you: Am I following Jesus for what He gives me—or because He's worthy? What would change if I moved from getting to giving? If Jesus asked me to lay down the comfort I cling to most, would I still call Him good? What would happen this week if my prayers shifted from “Lord, I need…” to “Lord, You are…”? Bible Passage Summary: In Mark 1:21–45, Jesus begins His public ministry with authority, teaching in the synagogue at Capernaum, where people are amazed by His words. He then casts out an unclean spirit, demonstrating His power over demons. News spreads quickly, and Jesus heals Peter's mother-in-law along with many others who are sick or oppressed. Despite the crowds, Jesus rises early to pray in solitude, showing the importance of communion with the Father. As He travels to other towns to preach, He is approached by a man with leprosy, who begs to be healed. Moved with compassion, Jesus touches him and heals him, instructing him to tell no one. However, the man spreads the news, and Jesus becomes so sought after that He must stay in remote places. Key themes include Jesus' authority over evil, healing power, compassion for the outcast, and the priority of prayer and preaching.

When the Civil War ended in 1865, the United States was scarred but standing. The fields were silent, the guns were still, and the soldiers — Union and Confederate alike — began the long journey home. But what if “home” no longer existed? For thousands of veterans, returning wasn't an option. They had to start over somewhere else. Many of them packed up and headed west. That decision shaped the lives of entire generations. Today's Topics: 1) Gospel - Matthew 18:21–19:1 - Peter approached Jesus and asked him, "Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus answered, "I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times. That is why the Kingdom of heaven may be likened to a king who decided to settle accounts with his servants. When he began the accounting, a debtor was brought before him who owed him a huge amount. Since he had no way of paying it back, his master ordered him to be sold, along with his wife, his children, and all his property, in payment of the debt. At that, the servant fell down, did him homage, and said, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back in full.' Moved with compassion the master of that servant let him go and forgave him the loan. When that servant had left, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a much smaller amount. He seized him and started to choke him, demanding, 'Pay back what you owe.' Falling to his knees, his fellow servant begged him, 'Be patient with me, and I will pay you back.' But he refused. Instead, he had the fellow servant put in prison until he paid back the debt. Now when his fellow servants saw what had happened, they were deeply disturbed, and went to their master and reported the whole affair. His master summoned him and said to him, 'You wicked servant! I forgave you your entire debt because you begged me to. Should you not have had pity on your fellow servant, as I had pity on you?' Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers until he should pay back the whole debt. So will My heavenly Father do to you, unless each of you forgives his brother from his heart." When Jesus finished these words, He left Galilee and went to the district of Judea across the Jordan. Memorial of Saint Maximilian Kolbe, Priest and Martyr Saint Maximilian, pray for us! Bishop Sheen quote of the day 2, 3) Bishop Strickland joins Terry to talk about the state of the Church and the world and his new podcast 4) The purging of faithful Catholics

A recent paper published in JAMA shows that Idaho has lost approximately 35 percent of doctors specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, leaving many counties without any maternal or reproductive health care providers at all. That comes after the state passed one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Amber Nelson, executive director of the Idaho Coalition for Safe Healthcare, says 85% of these practicing specialists work in just seven of the state’s urban counties. Dr. Amelia Huntsberger was a practicing OBGYN in Idaho for many years before the ban. But after the ban, the emotional strain of navigating patient care amid the possibility of prosecution, led to the painful decision to uproot her family and move out of state. Huntsberger now practices in Eugene, but she says her family still deals with the grief that transition brought. We talk with her and Nelson about the larger trends and what they mean in the lives of women seeking reproductive and material care.
