How can you provide a service that is efficient and effective so that your clients can get out of pain as quickly as possible without having to spend hours with us each week? How will you educate them on their options and then give them the tools they need to succeed? Welcome to the Rehab to Wellness B.O.S.S. Podcast! I'm your host, Kim Nartker, PTA. In this week's episode, I am joined again by Jordan Kimmel. Jordan Kimmel is a Mobility Stretch Coach level Two at Stretch Physical Therapy. Jordan helps clients improve their quality of life by helping them decrease muscle cramping, increase their range of motion, and improve strength. They will touch on such topics as:The Stretch Method is a hands-on approach to care, where you can learn the whole stretch method, including the exercise phases of care and providing your own consults to your new and old clients based on clients personal goals.Stop limiting yourself on what you are selling, and figure out the difference in what you were doing and see the results people were getting.It takes two or three more sessions to see how the body reacts with the TSM method to know what they truly need. Self-confidence is the key to success. It can be difficult to build your confidence while you are taking care of your clients, but it is not impossible especially if you are with the right community. Take the pressure off yourself by focusing on what's working right now, not on what isn't working yet (or even what will never work). That way, you'll be more likely to stay positive about your progress and less likely to give up when things aren't going as smoothly as planned.You have to keep on educating your clients on what's keeping them pain-free, what are their struggles and objections along the therapy sessions. Our goal is to get someone out to the community to make sure that they're doing something in the realm that improves their balance, their flexibility, and their cardiovascular ability.How can you tell people that The Stretch Method in what we're doing is actually keeping people away from surgery? That was just kind of what you did, you had to be in shape for the job. One day, a tree fell on him fracturing his back. After that he was forced to slow down and learn how to train smart so he could get back to running again. This injury led to Matt's guiding principle: FIT, which stands for Focused Intentional Training. It really is about helping people gain function through training. Matt started Pendola Training in 2001. Dr. Kelly Starrett distills his years of accumulated knowledge to lay out the basics for “playing the long game” of life to build better individuals who build better communities.  In a far-ranging Episode 026, Jason and Rich cover a lot of ground with Kelly from his origins in the mountains of Germany to the origins of humans and back. In his new iteration and focus on maintaining a The Ready State for an active, long life, Kelly talks about the “unsexy basics” of optimal health: sleep, movement, eating whole foods, doing preventative maintenance, and having a tribe/team/clan/community of like minded people with you on your journey. As he says, “we are hardwired to need people.” Kelly is most well known as the Supple Leopard (based on his first book) and mainstreaming if not inventing many of the buzzwords like “mobility” that surround functional fitness (which he apologizes for). He advocates for using movement -- particularly loaded movement (aka rucking) -- as a diagnostic tool to optimize what our bodies are naturally built to do. Kelly says that “pain is information for change” and this conversation lays the groundwork to tapping into our bodies’ natural ability to adapt, a little bit at a time, to perform better for longer.  Kelly weaves his information with humor and stories from his time working as a rafting guide, as a competitive athlete paddling whitewater slalom canoe on the US Canoe and Kayak Teams, as a physical therapist for professional athletes and now as a father facing down 50. Sein Spezialgebiet ist die Mobilisierung von Athleten, Freizeitsportlern und Läufern. Ebenfalls ist er auf die Behandlung von Chronischen Rückenschmerzen und Fehlhaltung durch Lösung von Blockaden im Muskelgewebe und Korrektur schlechter Haltung spezialisiert. Wir sprechen über seine persönliche Geschichte und wie er, durch Mobilitätstraining, seine chronischen Rückenschmerzen besiegt hat, welche Übungen Du einfach zu Hause oder im Büro machen kannst und wieso Du noch heute mit Mobilitätstraining beginnen solltest. Mobility schließt die Lücke zwischen „selbst irgendwie dehnen“ und Physiotherapie. Nur die wenigsten Sportler und Athleten können sich wöchentliche oder sogar tägliche Massagen oder Physiotherapie leisten. Allerdings können wir bereits 95% der Probleme, Fehlstellungen und akute Verspannungen selbst behandeln.Und das meist in weniger als 20 Minuten. Wir müssen nur wissen wo genau!
