He currently lives in Little Rock with his wife and children, and serves as the chief market officer for the Quapaw Nation's Saracen Casino Resort in Pine Bluff. Programleder: Sivert MoeSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/anger. Simon Lincoln Reader, a popular columnist for BizNews, is one of those individuals that people either love or hate. Finding someone whose feelings about Reader fall between these extremes is as unlikely as Reader developing a filter. At the fifth BizNews Conference in March, the London-based technology investor returned to South Africa to sit down with BizNews founder Alec Hogg for a frank fireside chat. Any first-time conference delegates who, on the eve of Day 1 of keynote presentations, were under the impression that they were attending a mild-mannered event found out that this was profoundly untrue during the first five minutes of Reader's appearance on stage. It's just as well, considering the brilliant but loaded BNC#5 presentations that followed his delightfully disruptive perspectives. The host of topics explored, ranging from wokeness to the Russia-Ukraine war, and, in particular, Reader's unique delivery of his opinions, was, if anything, a fantastic testament to the South African sense of humour – and the apparent failure to rob a true Saffa thereof. “Just Another Day” is a modern neo-realist film that draws attention to in-arguably one of the most raging topics of modern times - depression, abuse and the perception of separated/divorced women in society. Through the happenings of a single day, the story traces the life of a 40-something newly separated woman, Anjali Katekar, as she navigates another 24 hours of her life in the busy city of Mumbai. Her interactions with her colleague at work and a middle-aged lawyer at a cheap restaurant highlight the indifference of a typical patriarchal society to her mental and physical health coupled with their general lack of empathy and understanding. Societal indifference is sometimes one of the biggest reasons for the under-reporting of domestic abuse crimes. Through Anjali, we can live the agony of hundreds of middle-aged women facing stigma for mistakes that are not even their own. This film was done in a very independent way under limited resources and has been very successful and well received (especially in the USA & Canada) winning around 10 awards in around 30 film festivals after premiering in New York at the New York Asian Film Festival, last year. Other festivals include Chicago South Asian Film Festival, Tasveer Film Festival, SAFFA, Jaipur International Film Festival, Oscars & BAFTA Qualifying festivals like RIFF, et al. It was the only film from India at the New York Asian Film Festival in 2021. The film was also showcased in the heritage Babylon Theatre in Berlin as per of Indo-German Film Week, powered by the Indian Embassy of Berlin. Closer home, the film is in the pre-selection of the China Short Film Festival, the only government-recognized Short film festival in China. At home, the film is in the lineup of the prestigious Jaipur International Film Festival, Goa Short Film Festival, and Ayodhya Film Festival, while winning two awards in Chennai and Pondicherry. The film was also felicitated by the arts division of Kuthaya Dumlipinar University, Turkey on November 25th, 2021, on the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The film was also specially screened by the prestigious Indiana University, USA. Prataya & Anshulika stopped by the studios! A heroine looking for her duke will sign up for the ultimate social experiment in romance in "The Courtship." Transported to a Regency-style England, a group of eligible hopeful suitors will have to win the heart of our heroine, and her court. Housed in a castle on the countryside, set on a beautiful backdrop of rolling hills, the heroine and suitors will experience that with which dreams are made. From carriage rides and boat rides on the lake to archery and handwritten letters to communicate, they will be immersed in a time-traveling quest for love. In the end, our heroine and her suitors will discover if the ultimate romantic experience will find them true love. The Courtship airs Wednesday nights on USA (check your local listings!) and Thursdays on Peacock TV. About Peter Saffa: A true hopeless romantic, Peter is not a fan of modern dating. He is looking for something real and doesn't like swiping on dating apps. When it comes to romance, Peter says, “You can never go wrong with a candlelit dinner and some red wine.” When Peter isn't searching for love, you'll find him playing Fortnight or working out. He is also combining his love for fitness with his passion for entrepreneurship and is starting his own fitness clothing line. About Dr. Tim Hatem: Dr. Tim is as international as they come. Half English and half Egyptian, the trilingual doctor has lived all over the world, including London, Egypt, Dubai and the US. He is currently in Northern Ireland where he gets to fulfill his vocational passion, helping people every day in the ER. The little milk that is in the vessel gets distributed to all those hungry students from the Saffa, who are now in the house of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessing be upon him. By the miracle that is granted to the Prophet, the milk is enough to make every hungry person in his house full. This is Day 154 out of 365 days of stories of the greatest man in the world, our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. A sincere rendition of the book '365 days with the Prophet Muhammad' written by Nurdan Damla (Timas Kids publication, April 2019), read by Sister Rahimah from Singapore. In episode 3 of Ubuntu Tips & Tricks (recorded on a cold winter's Sunday afternoon) Corrie and CJ sit down with their good friends the Le Grands. Seeing that not one of the SAFFA manne have children we called for our reinforcements, Marco and Sujani Le Grand on the topic of “Parenthood abroad”. Moving abroad is an emotional and sometimes challenging decision that one makes. By adding your child(ren)'s well-being, happiness & future on top of this ‘decision' it surely fuels up this emotional rollercoaster that many South Africans embark on. During our conversation, Marco and Sujani share with us the following: - Parental challenges + concerns that came with the move abroad - The opportunities opening-up and potential future opportunities that can still open up for their children, here abroad. - Their parental Do's and don'ts abroad. Dear parental listeners: put your kids to bed, pour a glass of wine for your partner, sit back, relax and enjoy this episode of Ubuntu Tips and Tricks, “Parenthood abroad”. The valiant vulnerability demonstrated in this anonymous South African poem will undoubtedly speak to the affliction carried by countless South Africans. So often, those South Africans who have made the decision to depart our dear country will go on to vehemently report their decision to do so was unquestionably correct. Their message – usually extended with a laundry list of everything that they do not miss, everything that they no longer need to concern themselves with – is, while realistic, almost too overt. Notwithstanding the very real advantages they enjoy elsewhere, it is hard not to wonder whether they, perhaps, are so persistent in their advocacy of emigration because any deviation therefrom would be too painful. While the author of this poem is anonymous, the heartbreak felt by him or her over leaving South Africa is clearly identifiable.

We have all heard the saying "you (we) can always come back" In reality this is not always so straight forward for most Saffa expats who leaves South Africa's borders for an opportunity and a life elsewhere in the world. Whether it is the new job or career, new friends or perhaps a new 'familiarity', the option to move back to SA holds it's own challenges after a few years abroad! Soos uit oudergewoonte we kick off with a quote aligned with our topic of today “what I miss and how do I adjust”. “I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you left them”. This quote gets one thinking no matter how happy and contended life we are living, memories of the past are always a part of our mind. There are some precious moments and beautiful hours or things that often leave us nostalgic and bring a meaningful smile to our face. The SAFFA manne have asked a couple of subscribed listeners living abroad and the poll indicated that these are the TOP 5 items they miss and 3 ITEMS they don't miss: WHAT WE MISS 1. Family and moments with family. 2. The sun and good weather. 3. Food items such as steak, potjiekos etc. 4. Specific reoccurring places in SA and holidays such as the wildtuin and ‘die see'. 5. Your favorite item from Woolworths SA. Listen in as the guys touch base on these items for ways that they've found not to replace but to rather to adjust ‘living without' these items. WHAT WE DON'T MISS 1. Division and onrus – such as Looting events. 2. Sitting in N1 traffic (specifically in Gauteng). 3. General Violence and lack of security. “The good old days are now” and if you miss something, make an adjustment or find an alternative. Thank you for listening to the Leaders, Innovators and Big Ideas podcast, supported by Rainforest Alberta. The podcast that highlights those people who are contributing to and/or supporting the innovation ecosystem in Alberta. Another episode from Edmonton hosted by Christopher Drobot. Christopher Drobot is a passionate cheerleader for the potential of the Edmonton region. Although not directly an entrepreneur himself, his extensive experience in business operations and now mortgage lending help focus his excitement on the ideas that can see the city grow. He is involved in the push to bring a world-class aquarium to the city, is completing an MBA, and – together with his wife – homeschools his two children. The parallels between entrepreneurialism and homeschooling have been many, and he sees an overarching lesson in both: you have to create the world you wish to see. Sahr Saffa is a creative problem solver, and one of the problems he's most proud of solving can be summed up in the work he does with the C-Tribe Festival, a community-driven by diversity, and helping innovative and creative people achieve their dreams. Inspired by his experiences in larger US centers of inter-industry collaboration and collisions, he decided to bring that type of experience back to our city - back to his own hometown. In just two years, the festival has grown to four days of collisions between people from all walks of life, programming to expose people to new ideas, 50 speakers, and over 1000 attendees from several different countries. He also works as the VP of Operations for a San Francisco-area machine learning firm AutonomIQ (pronounced auto-nah-mik), and in the spring of 2020 he will be pursuing a Master's in Artificial Intelligence research. Please be sure to share this episode with everyone you know. If you are interested in being either a host, a guest, or a sponsor of the show, please reach out. We are published in Google Podcasts and the iTunes store for Apple Podcasts. We would be grateful if you could give us a rating as it helps spread the word about the show. Show Summary: Sahr recounts his journey through high-level sports, his initial working career, his experiences in one of the biggest cities in the world, and ultimately his path to where he is today after having started something so audacious as an international festival. Here’s someone who, upon experiencing how unlikely collisions and un-siloed thinking can contribute to massive innovations, decided to bring the concept back to our city. He had choices. He could have simply left elsewhere. But he poured his energy into making the things he wanted to see come to life, here in his hometown. Sahr’s energy, and the energy of those inspired to act by hearing his story and others like his, is what will continue to move the needle. Remember: take action; go do things; make things happen. Show Quote: "We're trying to build our own version of SXSW (South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas)...like the same as the Superbowl, but it's bringing together hundreds of thousands of people for two-and-a-half weeks in technology and culture and comedy, and we looked at that model and we thought it was phenomenal" Credits... Sahr Saffa is a driven young man accomplishing tremendous things in the Edmonton community. He is the founder of startups Nimbus Creative and Cappsule. An entrepreneur from the get, Sahr saw a unique culture of innovation and collaboration in premiere cities around North America and asked himself why Edmonton shouldn't be able to support an ecosystem like that. Out of that question was born C-Tribe Festival, an event focused on bringing innovation and enlightened thinking to underrepresented communities through art and culture. Sahr and I met for the first time today on the podcast so the format is loosey goosey, but entertaining and inspiring as always.
Jilberto missed out on another podcast recording, so Ricci talks to an equally unsuccessful comedian from Syria, Mo Saffa. They discuss politics, feminism, political wings and the Religion of peace. This is part 2 of 2.
Some of your regular GAGR experts in Reg, Will and Steve spend an hour taking an in-depth look at the upcoming Super Rugby season with a particular focus on the Australian teams.
