Four climate justice groups have sued NYS, claiming it is failing to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as mandated in the CLCPA climate law. Much of the suit focused on the Governor's delay in implementing her cap and invest program to reduce emissions, “prolonging New Yorkers' exposure to air pollution … especially in disadvantaged communities.” Caroline Chen of New York Lawyers for the Public Interest and Eric Walker of WE Act for Environmental Justice, discuss the case with Mark Dunlea for Hudson Mohawk Magazine.

As climate change intensifies and New Yorkers face record-breaking heat, the city is taking new measures to protect residents' health. Landlords will soon have to provide air conditioning to tenants, school bus fleets are going electric, and efforts are underway to make housing more affordable.  Cameron Clarke of WE ACT for Environmental Justice is on the front lines of the push to build a healthier New York City. One recent initiative focused on developing an asthma policy agenda. “We wanted to talk about housing, transportation, education, and the actual landscape of the built environment and craft a policy agenda that connects all of these different things to environmental justice — all through the lens of asthma,” Clarke explains. On this episode of The Dose podcast, recorded during Climate Week NYC in September, host Joel Bervell talks to Clarke about advancing health and environmental justice in New York and providing people with the tools they need to navigate a complex health system.

~Co-presented with Commonweal's Collaborative for Health and the Environment and University of California San Francisco's Science Action Network~ Scientific findings can inform stronger policies that protect public health — which sometimes negatively impacts profits of companies that produce health-harming chemicals and products. Industry intimidation of researchers who explore the impact of exposure to chemicals and other substances on human health is a longstanding problem. When Dr. Herbert Needleman found his credibility under fire after publishing data linking children's lead exposure to lower IQs in the early 1980s, he offered this advice to early career environmental health scientists: “Do not avoid difficult areas of investigation. Take risks. If scientists exclusively choose the safe routes, avoid controversial research problems, and play only minor variations of someone else's themes, they voluntarily turn themselves into technicians. Our craft will indeed be in peril.” At a time when strong, independent science is more important than ever, corporations are ramping up attacks on scientists in the environmental health field. In this CHE Café conversation, Dr. Lisa Bero and Dr. Lariah Edwards will share their own stories of industry intimidation, and reflect on steps needed to protect researchers and maintain scientific integrity. CHE Director Kristin Schafer will host the conversation. Lisa Bero, PhD is a Chief Scientist at the Center for Bioethics and Humanities at Colorado University. She is a leader in evidence synthesis, meta-research and studying commercial determinants of health, focusing on tobacco control, pharmaceutical policy, and public health. She provides international leadership for multidisciplinary teams studying the quality, use and implementation of research for health and health policy. Dr. Bero has developed and validated qualitative and quantitative methods for assessing bias in the design, conduct and dissemination of research. She has pioneered the utilization of internal industry documents and transparency databases to understand corporate tactics and motives for influencing research evidence. She is internationally recognized for her work and serves on national and international guidelines committees such as US National Academies of Science Committees and the World Health Organization Essential Medicines. Lariah Edwards, PhD is an Associate Research Scientist at the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at Columbia University's School of Mailman School of Public Health. She is also an alumna Fellow and current Assistant Director of Agents of Change in Environmental Justice. Dr. Edwards' research focuses on understanding the health effects of and addressing exposure disparities to hormone-altering chemicals commonly found in consumer and personal care products. As part of this work, she collaborates with WE ACT for Environmental Justice on its campaign that seeks to educate consumers about the dangers of toxic beauty products. Dr. Edwards also draws on her experience in the areas of chemical policy and regulatory applications and science communication, as she feels addressing exposure disparities requires a multidisciplinary approach.

Imagination is the ability to SEE both the REAL and the UNREAL. However, just because something is UNreal NOW―in the present―does NOT mean it can NOT be REAL in the future. The SECRET to MIRACLES is the ability to SEE in your mind's eye … to imagine, or to “cut out” a vision in your mind of the thing(s) God has spoken to you about. And then to DECREE them. What are your goals: The real DESIRES of your heart―the things you want God to do through you? How much time do you allocate to envisioning them? How important are your goals to you. It's NOT enough just to write your goals down. You must SEE them in your mind's eye―cut them out in your imagination―and them SPEAK them. ____________________________________ MIND ~ MEDITATE ~ MIRACLESIMAGINATION AND MIRACLES To SEE with the eye of the mind … that is, to envision … can encompass the following: Imagination Thinking Decision Making. To cut out with the eye of your mind is to SEE IT―or to THINK IT―upon the tablet of your heart or human spirit. This will enable you to experience MIRACLES ... real miracles ... for the glory of God! In Job 22:28 we read, “You shall also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto you.” In the original Hebrew language the word “decree” is a primitive root form of the word “gazar,” which means “to cut out exclusively, or to decide.” In its primitive form it is used also as a quarrying term ... as in cutting out stone from a rock quarry. ____________________________________ To DECREE means more than to say or speak. It conveys the meaning of cutting something out in the eye of your mind; that is, to envision―to make a vision―to decide upon it, and confess it ... and then it will be established unto you! ____________________________________ To DECREE is the progenitor of heart belief and mouth confession. It is BOTH the nucleus and all-encompassing embryo of initiating great moves of the Holy Spirit on Planet Earth. This is why we need to spend time meditating the Word of God. We are NOT talking about New Age type meditation―which can actually be used and energized by demonic forces. We are talking about meditation of God's Word and Promises so we know how to work in alignment with our Father in Heaven, the LORD God of Israel. When we meditate the Word of God we learn His principles; we also learn WHAT He wants (what His will is for the nations and for us). We also learn how to please Him by living holy and doing His will: reaching people and nations with the Truth of Messiah. Then we can DECREE a thing because we have decided upon it … we have cut it out in our mind's eye. We therefore BELIEVE it in our heart: the Holy Spirit has impressed the will of the Father upon our mind and deposited it in our human spirit. We have seen the Will of God in our mind's eye and have decided to implement it. We decree it by Seeing, Believing, and Speaking. We ACT on our decision after we have HEARD from God … and it comes to pass. We PLAN in the Spirit; we IMPLEMENT in the Spirit. We BELIEVE and KNOW that it will come to pass, and therefore we RECEIVE it for the glory of the Father. (Read Mark 11:23-24 in the Brit Chadashah, the New Testament). ____________________________________ MEDITATE / IMAGINE Imagine = The faculty of creating mental images or concepts of what is not actually present to the senses. Meditate = See yourself performing by creating it in your mind. Cutting it out in your mind's eye. ____________________________________ “And not being weak in faith, [Abraham] did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb (who was about 90). He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what God had promised He was also able to perform.” – Romans 4:1-21 Faith is wonderful … but it is even better when you have a PLAN to go along with your faith. ____________________________________ If your plans fit into God's plans … you will have God's faith … and God's faith always works! ____________________________________ YOU can bring MIRACLES and BLESSING to yourself, your family … and your country! State lawmakers joined 100 advocates at the NY State Capitol to demand that the NYS Legislature pass the NY HEAT Act before the end of session. The critical climate bill would cap energy bills at 6% of household income for low- and middle- income families, saving them up to $75 per month. On top of the $75 monthly savings, NY HEAT gets rid of the unfair 100 foot rule, which forces New York families to subsidize new gas hookups to the tune of $200 million every year and worsens the climate crisis. We hear first from Betta Broad, Campaign Director for New Yorkers for the Clean Power, followed by Sen. Liz Krueger, the lead sponsor of the NY Heat Act. Also speaking are Sonal Jessel, Policy Director for WE ACT for Environmental Justice, Alycia Bacon of Mothers Out Front, and Albany County Legislator and SHARE co-chair Mert Simpson, who discusses the 100% Renewable Capitol bill.

Do you fall into the Not Enough Mindset when you think about your dreams? How about the Coulda–Woulda–Shoulda Mindset? Or the Who Am I to Do X Mindset? We're breaking down how to Direct Your Imagination to work for you instead of against you. The first step is to develop the right mindset. So today is for you if: If you're tired of being stuck. If you feel powerless to change. If you're ready to shift your mindset from Can't to Can. Mindset is the habitual mental attitude that determines how you interpret and respond to life. It's the filter we look through when opportunities come our way. It reveals what we think we're capable of. To get our imagination working for us instead of against us where it's holding us back from what God's called us to do, we must Develop Our Mindset. 1. It all starts with a thought Our thoughts are powerful! We Think > We Feel > We Act > We Become We think a thought that leads to specific feelings. Then we act on those feelings. When we act the same long enough, that's who we become. But what if we use this formula to get our imagination working for us instead of against us? Now we can become whoever we want to become! But it's up to us. And it all starts with a thought. Who do you want to become? 2. You're not a victim of your thoughts Just because the thought comes doesn't mean you have to keep it, and doesn't make it true, either. We get to choose our thoughts. Philippians 4:8 NIV…think about such things. Paul wouldn't have told us to think about these awesome fabulouso things if we couldn't. We get to choose what stays and what goes. 3. Change your thought to change your future If you want a mindset of I CAN, you've got to swap out that thought of I CAN'T to I CAN…do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It takes time and work to change your thoughts, and it takes even longer for positive thoughts to be automatic if you've been stuck in a negative thought rut for years. But you can do it! Change your thoughts to change your future. When you develop your mindset, then you'll interpret and respond to life in faith instead of fear. Now, when the opportunities, we can say, “I got this–and Father's got me!” Next episode, I'll share how you need to Develop Your Discipline, so you can keep your imagination working for you. Your mess gets to become your message. But maybe fear is still holding you back. Maybe you tried and failed or are too afraid to step out and try. No more! It's time to shift so you can do that thing in your heart! If that's you, I've created something special… it's called the Courageous Club. Over the next couple of episodes, I'll share what the Courageous Club is and see if it's that missing puzzle piece you need to finally stop hiding, show up fully yourself and fulfill your God-given purpose. In the meantime, reflect on your mindset. What is it? Become aware of your mindset and whether your thoughts are serving you. You've got this, and Father's got you! Thanks a Bunch for listening! Until Next Time, Live Fearlessly Free!

Last year Urban Green published a major research report, Grid Ready, which found that converting building heating and hot water systems from fossil fuels to electric heat pumps does not pose any near-term risk to New York City's electric grid. Our research and policy team recently expanded this analysis to explore how increasing power demand from building electrification impacts the grid in environmental justice communities. This new analysis, Exploring Equitable Electrification, found that the 15 NYC grid areas that may see the fastest electrification of heat and hot water systems and the earliest grid constraints are primarily Environmental Justice Areas. Therefore, it's essential that building electrification policies and programs are designed to ensure an equitable transition—one that secures the benefits and mitigates potential challenges of building electrification. This week's focus is on Crucial Conversations based on this book. The book helps us to understand that when the stakes are highest, we tend to show up as our worst. At work, this looks like: Talking to a coworker about an offensive comment Giving boss feedback about behavior Critiquing a team members work Giving an unfavorable performance review Why do we show up so badly at these pivotal moments? They are uncomfortable; we'd rather avoid them, so we wait too long and we feel stressed which causes us to Flight or Fight. Crucial conversations calls this silence or violence. Silence sounds like: “Something bothering you?” “Nope.” Violence sounds like: “Something bothering you?” “Yes. You.” The way Crucial Conversations explains the flow: We See and hear something We Tell a story about it We Feel some kind of way about the story we just told We Act based on that feeling  The three stories that take us to silence or violence are three kinds of stories: Victim story “it's not my fault.” Villain story “it's totally your fault.” Helpless story “there's nothing I can do.” Choose your next move wisely. It will make all the difference. Resources: Network Diversity Index Quiz YouTube Channel R.O.G. on Apple Podcasts R.O.G. on Spotify Coming Next: Join me next week with Jenn T. Grace. We think > We Feel > We Act > We Become The secret thoughts in our minds don't stay secret. We have a thought that turns into a feeling. Then we act on that feeling and become what we think about the most. But, we can use this equation to reverse engineer this process to become who we want to become. Ask yourself: Who do I want to become? How would I act to become that? What do I need to feel to act that way? What thoughts do I need to feel those feelings? You have the recipe, the power to become who you want. Use it in any area of your life to become who you want to become. Would you like to experience more joy on the way to where you're going? Do you need more help with your thoughts? Do you struggle with depression, anxiety or fear? This exercise is just one of the many in A Joy-Filled Life online course that will help you on your journey to living the life God's called you to live. More than 30 years ago, roughly 1,100 people attended the First National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit in Washington, DC to discuss the environmental injustices they were experiencing in their communities. Considered by many as the birth of the environmental justice (EJ) movement, the four-day summit concluded with the adoption of the 17 Principles of Environmental Justice, still relevant today. In the eighth episode [link] of "Groundtruth," the Environmental Law Institute (ELI)'s Arielle King chats with key organizers and leaders of the historical summit: Vernice Miller-Travis, a longtime EJ advocate and cofounder of WE ACT for Environmental Justice, a northern Manhattan community-based organization, who currently serves as the Executive Vice President of Metropolitan Group; and Charles Lee, organizer of the First Summit who currently serves as the Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Office of Environmental Justice. The episode honors and celebrates the 30th anniversary of the 17 Principles by taking a look at how far we've come, and how far we still have to go. “Groundtruth” is a podcast series, produced in partnership with the Environmental Law Institute's People Places Planet Podcast, that explores EJ trends and developments. I spoke with Jose in August. During our conversation, we discussed the work of the Campaign for Healthier Solutions to compel Dollar stores to eliminate the use of toxic chemicals in their products and provide customers with healthier locally grown food options in intentionally food-deprived areas; as well as the genesis and early campaigns of the Just Transition Alliance.  Jose also talked about the lives of his parents as farmworkers, his childhood growing up in and around San Diego, and his early years of student activism and organizing including countering the anti-immigration forces in the 1980s. This work led to his joining the https://www.environmentalhealth.org/index.php/en/ (Environmental Health Coalition) and working on their https://www.environmentalhealth.org/index.php/en/what-we-do/toxic-free-neighborhoods (Toxic Free Neighborhoods) project in Barrio Logan including the campaign to stop the pollution of surrounding areas with methyl bromide from the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal.  Jose also attended the https://www.ucc.org/30th-anniversary-the-first-national-people-of-color-environmental-leadership-summit/ (First National People of Color Environmental Leadership Summit) in Washington DC in October 1991. Jose describes the life cycle of chemicals from production, to use and disposal – all of which contribute to pollution and health impacts in overburdened communities; and the ways that non-pollution factors including lack of health care, inadequate housing, and police brutality contribute to environmental injustice.  In the course of our conversation, Jose referenced two of his friends and colleagues, Lhttps://crpe-ej.org/donate-main/lukes-legacy (uke Cole), co-founder of the https://crpe-ej.org/ (Center on Race, Poverty & the Environment), and https://grist.org/fix/cecil-corbin-mark-legacy-we-act-environmental-justice/ (Cecil Corbin-Mark), Deputy Director of https://www.weact.org/ (WE ACT), both tremendously important environmental justice leaders.

DID YOU KNOW that research from the Max Plank Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Science in Germany, led by neuroscientist John Dylan-Haynes has shown that the decisions we make daily to act on something, begins “automatically and without involvement of our consciousness”[i] up to 7 seconds BEFORE we take the action we are thinking about? I learned this from Adele Spraggon,[ii] the author of Shift, in this week's interview #184, while talking about her 4 STEP re-patterning process to break habits for an improved 2022 and it got me thinking about how we could use and understand this brain fact to take our results to new heights, especially as we are preparing for a New Year. If you are like me, and have ever done something and then wondered “why did I just do that?” then this episode is for you! Welcome back to the Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast for BRAIN FACT FRIDAY and EPISODE #185 on “Using Neuroscience to Repattern Our Brain.” For those new, or returning guests, welcome back! I'm Andrea Samadi, author, and educator from Toronto, Canada, now in Arizona, and like many of you listening, have been fascinated with learning and understanding the science behind high performance strategies that we can use to improve our productivity in our schools, our sports, and workplace environments. This week's Brain Fact Friday took me back to the late 1990s, when I worked in the personal development industry[iii] and first learned about how our results were all determined by our thoughts, feelings and actions. I'll put an image I want you to see in the show notes.   I used to have this picture taped to my wall so I could see it every day from the speaker I worked with. I'm sure he used to carry it around when he would speak to people one on one, explaining that our thoughts come first. We think an idea (I really want this goal) and then we add emotion or feeling to this goal, that charges us up as we picture ourselves in possession of that goal, changing our body state, and getting us to take action of some sort, moving us in the direction of this goal. The action steps that we take (calling someone, getting mentored and getting ideas to take NEW actions) give us new information that we didn't have before, and this in turn, changes our conditions, circumstances, and environment, taking us to places beyond where we have ever been before and we achieve our goals, the end result.  This is how I was taught how to bridge the gap between goal setting and achieving, over 20 years ago,  and how I've tackled every single goal since then.  I've taught this concept to thousands of people (of all different ages) around the world over the years through the books and courses I've created. They are old, but the information is still relevant. If you want to take a look, you can access some of my first online courses on Udemy[iv].  On the back of my first book, The Secret for Teens Revealed,[v] I even wrote something that showed how important it was to distinguish the difference between a goal setter and achiever. I wrote: “When we look at people who have achieved great things, we often believe they are more talented than the rest of us, or luckier, or more well-connected. But the only thing that separates the successful from everybody else is that they have learned to bridge the gap between setting goals and achieving them. They have developed ways of behaving and—more importantly—ways of thinking that enable them to get what they want.” I knew when I wrote that in 2008 that there was a fine line between setting and achieving goals, and that we must have an unwavering mindset around the goal we are going after, but what I didn't know, that I learned this week, was that our thinking precedes our actions by up to seven seconds and is pre-determined with a pattern or neural pathway that's created in my brain, as unique as my own fingerprint long before I take any action.  Understanding this pattern is behind why some people achieve their goals, or not, not their rock-solid mental mindset that's important, but probably wouldn't be the deal-breaker. We must understand that the old way of THINK/FEEL/ACT can lead us into a habit loop, getting the same result over and over again, that no one wants. We want NEW results, and when we use neuroscience to re-pattern our brain, we know it begins with understanding and re-patterning our brain when something isn't working for us. I learned from Adele Spraggon's book Shift that “we FEEL first (information comes in though the senses, and it changes the body's vibration). We ACT second and THINK last and that thought does not activate the sequence; it follows.”[vi] If we want to take a different action and get a new result, we need a NEW pattern that begins with being in tune with what we FEEL first, then ACT and THINK last. If you haven't listened to EPISODE #184 where Adele explains her 4 STEP approach, I would be sure to listen to this episode next, but I thought it was too important to not cover this on this week's Brain Fact Friday. To review this week's brain fact, Did you know that we can predict what someone is thinking up to seven seconds before we think that thought[vii] and “by looking at brain activity while making a decision, researchers could predict” what people were thinking before they were consciously aware of it?[viii] We know this to be true because we have all done this—taken an action, not being consciously aware of exactly what we are doing and then asking ourselves “why did I just do that?” The difference between goal setters and goal achievers are that they THINK and BEHAVE differently. How do they do this? They are 100% in tune with what's working for them, or not. They know the patterns that they are taking that lead them towards the results they are looking for, and when something is not leading them towards what they want, they switch the pattern. It's that simple. Here's how implement this week's brain fact Friday. STEP 1: Uncover What's Not Working: If you want to achieve new results with something you are working on, is all you need to do is ask yourself “What's not working with what I am doing” and this will help put you back on course to achieving your end result. It begins with being honest with what needs to change. STEP 2: Listen to What Your Feel Before You Act. To avoid taking actions that put you back into your habit loop, pay attention to how you feel. We've talked about interoception, or listening to what you feel in your body on many different episodes. Slow down and pay attention and you will know if the action is right for you, or not. STEP 3: Take a NEW Action: Different to what wasn't working and notice the results. If you are moving in the direction of what you want, you have re-patterned your brain to a new result. Life should feel easy, peaceful and like Adele mentioned, “everyone should feel happy” around you. If you are thinking of what you would like to change in 2022, I hope you can see how this re-patterning approach can help take you to new heights. As we are progressing on this podcast, and I look back at older episodes, like EPISODE #35 from January 2020 “Using Your Brain to Break Bad Habits”[ix] I can see where we are learning new ideas together that are essentially re-patterning our brains. 2 years ago, I was setting goals with the idea that “Neurons that Fire Together, Wire Together” and “Neurons that are out of Synch, Fail to Link” so I knew that old habits would eventually die out, (and fail to link) which they usually do. Habit breaking shouldn't be difficult, when you follow Adele Spraggon's 4 STEP Method from our last episode, but when something is difficult to break, it always goes back to the patterns that YOU'VE created in YOUR brain that you need to re-pattern. If you were able to create the habit, then you can also create a new habit that works better for you. Remember: The decisions we make daily to act on something, begins “automatically and without involvement of our consciousness” so we had better be sure that the actions we are taking daily are moving us towards those things that we want (our goals) not away from them. How does your zip code affect your life expectancy?  The impacts of climate change, toxic water, and dirty air aren’t evenly distributed. Low income and communities of color bear the brunt of these impacts.  Today, we dive into conversation with Peggy Shepard, a pioneer of the environmental justice movement who has worked for more than three decades to shine a light on the ways damage to the natural world intersects with issues of race and class. She co-founded WE ACT for Environmental Justice, a community organization based in New York City with the mission of ensuring that the right to clean air, water, and soil extends to all people, no matter where they live, what color their skin is, or how much money is in their bank accounts. Many of the environmental protections she helped to fight for in her community have been scaled up to the national level, benefitting people around the country and even the world. Threshold Conversations is an ongoing series featuring interviews with environmental thought leaders on some of the most urgent environmental and social issues today. Threshold Conversations is supported by the International Women’s Media Foundation’s Howard G. In part-two of our series on what it takes to keep people safe from extreme heat in New York City, I interview Sonal Jessel, Policy and Advocacy Coordinator at WE ACT for Environmental Justice. She talks about how decades old policies and decisions create systemic, environmental racism in New York. Black and brown residents often tend to live in areas with less green space, more air pollution and have less access to public services. This puts them at greater risk of hazards like extreme heat and COVID-19. Listen to the episode to learn more about what can be done to address underlying inequities. This is part two of a two-part series. The first part of this series features Kizzy Charles-Guzman from the NYC Mayors Office of Resiliency. It focuses on how New York City is addressing extreme heat in COVID-19 times, including through their new air conditioning program. References and Supplemental Materials:We Act For Environmental JusticeThe paper mentioned at the beginning of the episode is: Matthews, T., Wilby, R.L. & Murphy, C. A more specific title would be: Creating with vision and decision through the eye of your mind mixed with faith. In 1933 Hitler appointed Hermann Göring as Minister of the Interior. His first orders were to defund and eliminate the police departments so that they would NOT interfere with Hitler's Brown Shirts. The Brown Shirt's mission was to riot, burn, beat up and to kill citizens in an effort to sway the elections to ensure their National Socialist agenda. Now, today's American Socialist leaders want to defund and eliminate the police for the same reason. As we advance into the entrance of the End Times when the future holds pandemics, violence and revolution, economic downturn―even social displacement―you can be an instrument of God to protect and bless your country. Plus, you can walk in victory spiritually, mentally and physically―and you can prosper―you can come out victorious. You will WIN if you learn AND practice the precepts in this teaching. It Is my desire that you will use this “Truth-Concept” in every area of your life: Wholeness, Healing, Power and Prosperity. Make it happen … don't let it happen to YOU! _______________________________________________ THE VISION AND THE MIRACULOUS CREATING WITH VISION & DECISION: THE EYE OF YOUR MIND Previously we talked about right thoughts plus diligence will cause you to profit. Today, I want to continue with another powerful concept: The Vision and the Miraculous. A more specific title would be: Creating with Vision and Decision Through the Eye of Your Mind Mixed with Faith. To SEE with the eye of the mind … that is, to envision … can encompass the following: imagination, thinking, and decision making. To cut out with the eye of your mind is to SEE IT, or to THINK IT upon the tablet of your heart or human spirit. It means more than to say or speak. It conveys the meaning of cutting something out in the eye of your mind; that is, to envision ... to make a vision ... to decide upon it, and confess it ... and then it will be established unto you! To decree is the progenitor of heart belief and mouth confession. Faith is wonderful … but it is even better when you have a PLAN to go along with your faith. FAITH IS WONDERFUL EVEN BETTER WHEN YOU HAVE A PLAN TO GO ALONG WITH YOUR FAITH If your plans fit into God's plans … you will have God's faith … and God's faith always works! YOU can bring MIRACLES and BLESSING to yourself, your family … and your country! Use your faith based upon God's Word ... envision, decide, decree! In future sessions we will discuss how to turn the tide … HOW to enter into the realm of the MIRACULOUS: where historical, earth-shaking, victories are won BY ... and FOR ... the glory of God! Can we solve the climate crisis by reimagining our cities? Climate activists have long envisioned the zero-carbon cities of the future. Now, with COVID-19 shutting down congested urban areas, city dwellers from Los Angeles to New Delhi are getting a rare taste of clean air and blue skies. But the view is also more clear of things more painful to see - social inequalities that have existed for generations. “This is an opportunity to think about what kind of systems do we actually want, what kind of future do we envision for our cities and for our economy,” says sustainability expert Eva Gladek. “And how do we actually try to address multiple challenges at once when looking toward that future.” Visit climateone.org/watch-and-listen/podcasts for more information on today's episode. Looking Forward And Looking Back: The Path To Deep Emissions Reductions In New York City's Buildings

New York City has set ambitious goals to reduce our City’s greenhouse gas emissions 80% by the year 2050 (“80x50”) in order to help stave off the most devastating impacts of climate change. To accomplish this, deep emissions cuts will be needed across every sector of the City, including from buildings, which account for two-thirds of all greenhouse gas emissions generated in New York City. This program will celebrate and build upon the impressive work that has been accomplished to develop consensus around the New York City Council’s Intro. 1253-C, a first-of-its-kind piece of legislation passed as part of New York City’s Climate Mobilization Act that will require New York City buildings over 25,000 square feet to meet strict emissions limits beginning in 2024. The process to reach consensus around how, when and to what extent emissions should be reduced required collaboration among many different stakeholders with concerns on various issues including emissions reduction impact, cost, timeline, and housing affordability. Significant challenges and opportunities to implement and further expand emissions reductions remain. The first half of the program explores those previous consensus-building efforts and issues that were left unresolved in the mandate legislation. It then looks forward at the significant work that remains to implement the energy retrofits that will be needed to achieve the emissions reductions required by Intro. 1253-C. In particular, panelists and conference participants look at market-based mechanisms for financing these retrofits (including PACE financing, also passed as part of the Climate Mobilization Act) and at potential ways to achieve broader emissions reductions without threatening housing affordability. Finally, conference participants have the opportunity to join breakout groups for a facilitated discussion to explore potential opportunities to implement the retrofits at a wide scale. The facilitated conversations take place under the guidance of Tim Mealey of the Meridian Institute. Take Away Quotes: “That report [Toxic Waste and Race] has been reconfirmed around this country in so many other research studies. That race is the primary predictor of where a toxic waste facility is and that income is the secondary predictor.” “People really want energy security. They want to feel that they can help reduce greenhouse gasses by using alternative energy sources but also secure their energy future by being able to have a little more autonomy over energy—how they use it and what kind of energy they use.” “We are working from the ground up, and we know that community organizing is essential but that you can’t really organize a community to be empowered and advocate on their own without information. So we have a…nine-week environmental health and leadership training program that we put all of our members through…We’re making sure that they are informed about air pollution, water quality, children’s environmental health, toxics, climate change, energy, the whole host of issues that evolve to have importance at varying times in communities.” Resources: https://islandpress.org/urban-resilience-project (Island Press Urban Resilience Project) https://www.weact.org/ (WE ACT For Environmental Justice) http://meetingoftheminds.org/people-power-residents-northern-manhattan-creating-energy-revolution-17596 (People Power: How Residents of Northern Manhattan are Creating an Energy Revolution) Download the Island Press APP! THINK BIG – so God can increase you! Barriers can be thoughts and thoughts can be barriers, such as: Your past life (failures or sin);Other people's ideas or attitudes towards you. Don't look back on failures. Meditate on your successes. Also, we discussed MEDITATING God's Word. There is something to the old expression: “What you see is what you get.” The Proverbs tell us: “For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverb 23:7) To SEE with the mind's eye … that is, to envision … can encompass the following: imagination, thinking, and decision making. To “cut out” with the mind's eye is to SEE IT, or to THINK IT upon the tablet of your heart: your human spirit, the “inner” man. In Job 22:28 we read, “You shall decree a thing, and it shall be established unto you ...” In the original Hebrew language, the word “decree” is a primitive root form of the word “gazar,” which means “to cut out exclusively, or to decide.” In its primitive form it is used also as a “quarrying” term … as in cutting out stone from a rock quarry. It means more than to “say” or to “speak.” It conveys the meaning of “cutting something out in your mind's eye.” That is, “to envision (to make a vision), to decide upon it, and confess it” – and then it will be establihed unto you! To decree is the progenitor of heart belief and mouth confession. It is BOTH the nucleus and the “all-encompassing” embryo of initiating great moves of the Holy Spirit on Planet Earth. This is why we need to SPEND TIME MEDITATING GOD'S WORD. We're NOT talking about New Age type meditation, which can actually be used – and even energized – by demonic forces. We're talking about meditating GOD'S WORD so we know HOW to work in alignment with our Father in Heaven, Jehovah God. When we meditate the word of God, we learn His principles; we also learn WHAT He wants (what His will is for the nations and for us). We also learn HOW to please Him by living holy and doing His will: reaching people and nations for Messiah. Then we can DECREE a thing because we have decided upon it … we have to cut it out in our mind's eye. We BELIEVE and KNOW that it will come to pass and therefore we RECEIVE it for the glory of the Father. SECRET Faith is wonderful … but it's even better when you have a PLAN to go along with your faith. If YOUR PLAN fits into GOD'S PLANS, you will have God's faith … and God's faith ALWAYS WORKS! HOW TO CREATE AND IMPLEMENT IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT To SEE with the mind’s eye … that is, to envision … can encompass the following: imagination, thinking, and decision making.
