This episode begins at the ancient seven-arch bridge in Killaloe, the crossing point where Clare, Tipp and Limerick collide, and jumps to Višegrad in eastern Bosnia, where Ivo Andrić's The Bridge on the Drina uses one structure to tell a five-century story of tribes, trade, love, and conflict. Back in Ireland, the row over closing the old Killaloe bridge is about suburban sprawl swallowing once-separate towns and turning them into commuter satellites. Ireland has built a low-density model that forces people into cars, clogs villages with traffic, and makes the whole system fragile. Just 13% of Irish people live in apartments, compared to 46% across Europe, and the gap between where jobs and services are concentrated and where people actually live is now being paid for in time, congestion, and quality of life. So where do you look for a better model? Japan. We end in the Tokyo–Yokohama mega-region, 38 million people living densely, safely, and efficiently, and ask why Ireland keeps choosing a “rainbelt” version of American car sprawl, instead of building compact, mixed-use neighbourhoods that let people live near where they work, study and socialise.

Il m'a dit : "Dégage, tu n'as rien à faire ici". On doit toujours fuir.

As the justice system tightens its grip on the Adelson family, Donna Adelson, Charlie Adelson, and three others are now behind bars for the murder of Florida State Professor Dan Markel—a case that continues to captivate the nation. For Donna, this marks her first holiday season in prison, facing the reality of a life sentence for her role in the murder-for-hire plot that shattered her own family and shocked Tallahassee. In this STS episode, Emmy Award-winning host Joel Waldman is joined by #BestGuests, including formerly incarcerated women, who pull back the curtain on what really happens behind prison walls. They reveal what first-timers like Donna Adelson can expect—from housing units and daily routines to inmate politics and the emotional crash that hits hardest during the holidays. Our experts also detail what life looks like now for long-term inmates like Katherine “Katie” Magbanua, who has been living this reality for years. We break down the psychological toll, the power struggles, the silence, the surveillance, and the stark difference between county jail and state prison. If you follow the Adelson case, prison life realities, or major true-crime breakthroughs, you won't want to miss this one. You can support and help Drina get back on her feet here via an Amazon Wish List: Https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls...Support the show & be a part of #STSNation:Donate to STS' Trial Travel: Https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/GJ...VENMO: @STSPodcast or Https://www.venmo.com/stspodcastCheck out STS Merch: Https://www.bonfire.com/store/sts-store/Joel's Book: Https://amzn.to/48GwbLxSupport the show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/SurvivingTheSurvivorEmail: SurvivingTheSurvivor@gmail.com Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.

Being pregnant and giving birth with Type 1 Diabetes takes specific intention, energy, and management of health. In this episode, Dr. Morgan has Dr. Gina Cummins on to tell us how she managed her blood sugar throughout her two pregnancies and homebirths. They discuss how the conventional route of prenatal care and birth for women with Type 1 is different for those that don't have it - including the risk factors and reasoning for why it is this way, and then Dr. Gina goes on to explain how she advocated for herself to walk an alternative path outside the system. She found a supportive midwife and had both babies at home, and as she shares her birth stories, you'll see that she weaves in how she was actively managing her insulin in between contractions. Blood sugar management is a full-time job, and we hope you find this episode as educational as it is impressive. This episode is sponsored by:Redmond Salt >> Click here and use code HEALTHYMOTHER to save 15% on your order.Needed >> Click here and use code HEALTHYMOTHER to save 20% off your first order.Lumebox >> Click here and use code HEALTHYASAMOTHER for $260 off.Resources From This Episode:Dr. Gina Cummin's WebsiteDr. Gina's Cummin's InstagramOther Healthy as a Mother Podcast episodes to further your learning:#87: Gestational Diabetes Part 1 with Lily Nichols#88: Gestational Diabetes Part 2 with Lily NicholsNatural Birth for Type 1 Diabetics Facebook GroupDr. Gina's midwife, Lindsey Meehleis Instagram and WebsiteDr. Drina's OB, Dr. Stuart Fischbein Instagram and Website and PodcastBirthing From Within birth classStay Connected With Us:Healthy As A Mother: www.healthyasamother.comInstagram: @healthyasamotherpodcastDr. Leah: www.womanhoodwellness.comInstagram: @drleahgordonDr. Morgan: www.milkmedicine.comInstagram: @morganmacdermott

Bolo to s tebou krásne, zlato. Rozsvietil si a naplnil láskou životy všetkých, v mene ktorých ti píšem tento posledný list. Každá rola, ktorú ti osud v živote vytvoril a ponúkol, ti sedela. Syn, manžel, otec, priateľ, kolega. Ja by som poprosila všetkých ľudí, ktorí si myslia, že vedia žiť za vás lepšie ako vy sami, aby to nerobili. Aby dospelý človek, ktorého v živote čaká už iba utrpenie a pomalé bolestivé umieranie pred zrakmi milovaných, aby mohol povedať dosť! „Mojo... With the help of readings from the classic novel, "The Bridge on the Drina," we trace how Bosnians' confused search for a national identity and a national destiny led ultimately to the fateful assassination that triggered a world war. Vyplýva to z najnovšieho prieskumu Eurobarometra. „Heslo späť do Európy bolo jedno z kľúčových hesiel Novembra 89," opisuje v podcaste vtedajšiu túžbu spoločnosti byť súčasťou západaných štruktúr a inštitúcií. Slovensko oficiálne do EÚ vstúpilo v roku 2004.

War games are often seen as controversial. Replaying the atrocities that occurred during a large-scale conflict seems completely inappropriate. Condensing the huge amount of suffering, death and destruction into a game of pushing tiles around a board and rolling dice or playing cards seems perverse.
