I've been listening to the music of Rafael Anton Irisarri for a long time. The oldest album of his that I have is 2007's Daydreaming. I'm listening to it as I type this and wow, I'd forgotten how excellent it is. His music has changed a bit since then - now using drones, symphonic washes, tape loops, layers of distortion and "bleached out textures." So I was excited when he offered to do a guest mix. Um, yes please! This mix is everything that I love about guest mixes because it takes twists and turns that I normally do not so it kept me engaged to whole way through. Here's what Rafael has to say about this set: "I crafted this mix as Spring gently dissolves into Summer, drawing inspiration from perennial favorites like Arvo Pärt and Harold Budd. It features the work of many dear friends and colleagues such as Sylvain Chauveau and Federico Durand, as well as some favorite tracks I've mastered at my Black Knoll Studio in New York. This includes pieces from William Basinski, Eluvium, Michael Muller, and Julia Kent, along with contributions from Grand River, Animated Matter (Hannah Elizabeth Cox), Concepción Huerta, Christina Giannone, Pepo Galán, and Karen Vogt. Adding a personal touch, I've included a piece from my latest album, released on my newly minted Black Knoll Editions, in collaboration with the esteemed Italian producer Abul Mogard. There's also a special collaborative piece I created with the brilliant Julianna Barwick a couple of years ago. Hope you enjoy! Looking forward to playing some shows this summer, starting in Italy on July 7th with Abul Mogard in Rome at Halfdie Festival, then later on September 14 at Ametric Festival in Chania, Greece. Stay tuned for more announcements by following on Instagram @blackknoll or at www.irisarri.org." Thanks Rafael for this amazing mix! Tonight's edition wraps around three wonderful longform ambient pieces I've re-discovered - Bill Laswell + Terre Thaemlitz' Insectoidal Regression, David Newlyn's Church Fires and Eluvium's Static Nocturne. That and a few other choice works makes tonight's episode a special listen. Enjoying the show? Please support BFF.FM with a donation. Playlist 0′00″ Accepted Isolation by Alonefold on Signpost Horizons (Rural Colours) 14′20″ Insectoidal Regression by Bill Laswell and Terre Thaemlitz on Web (Subharmonic) ⭐️I love this track. It's my favorite on the record (released 1995), and a pretty unique collaboration for Bill Laswell, who usually is doing some pretty loud free jazz. However, in the spirit of Laswell's 'collision music' concept bringing Terre Thaemlitz into the mix is a perfect choice. 33′44″ Church Fires by David Newlyn on Church Fires (Polar Seas Recordings) ⭐️An absolutely lovely 40+ minutes of shifting tones, some of the most gentle and enjoyable work I've heard. This came out in 2015, following a few really great records that are a bit more 'conventional' for Newlyn (more making use of his skills as a pianist). 77′30″ Static Nocturne by Eluvium on Static Nocturne (Watership Sounds) ⭐️Everything you'd expect from a long Eluvium piece. By far my favorite of Matthew Cooper's work is the rare CATALIN record , but in terms of sheer atmospheric weight and variety of textures, 2010's Static Nocturne is top-notch work. On this episode of “I Art Asheville” we spoke with illustration wizard Fian Arroyo! I’ve been a fan of FIan’s work for some time now as his highly illustrative and fantasy work caught my eye quite starkly while perusing the Asheville gallery scene when I first moved to the area. It was so cool getting to meet and chat with him! We got to hear Fian's story of how he got here to Asheville by way of Texas, through Miami. It was real fun hearing his accounts of his experience in those Areas and led to a really interesting story about Julio Iglesias; I’ll say no more, haha. We also spoke about the Arts scene in Miami and Wynwood, and how it has changed so much since the time he lived and skated in the area. Fian’s got his hands in so many different projects all the time and it was cool to get a glimpse into the kind of things he keeps busy with, everything from the occasional corporate business Holiday postcard commission, to working with some of his favorite skaters and skate companies, to learning how to navigate the Pop culture phenomenon exploding around the world, and that is if course Comic Con type conventions that take place throughout the country. It was really neat hearing how he became involved in that circuit; I’ll give you a hint, “He just Applied…”. Our local story highlighted our local Buncombe County health syringe exchange and how it is beginning to operate again after being suspended for some time, an action that we both had some interesting insights to. And of course, in true Asheville form, we got to speak with Fian about his involvement with local brewery Eluvium and what he’s been up to with them! This was such a great time, and I can’t wait to sit down and have a beer and chat with Fan again! Please Like, Subscribe and Follow! Any Sunday Morning, Paris-based musician Sébastien, brings his simple, well-travelled music to today's show. Richard has been listening with glee to the LP White Rainbow and picks his favourite tune off of it as we explore Any Sunday Morning. More on this French musician later. Tobin has the bookend this week and brings back I Am Kloot with two excellent tracks. Sandwiched in amongst the show as well this week is "That Jamie" and his track of the month. Jamie describes the track as "divisive" - listen the boys arguing it out. Two out of three ain't bad Jamie! As I Am Kloot return to the show, so does the latest from Huw Costin aka Torn Sail. Following on the heels of his latest NuNorthern Soul release this reworking of A Beautiful Life is esoteric, subtle and dripping with the gloriously fluid vibes we've come to expect. Torn Sail are rapidly becoming a favourite here at Record Box HQ. They are an official FTBOTRB Recommendation and are essential listening. And staying in Nottinghamshire, UK, we bring Lawrence County to the show. Americana from deep in the UK. Who'd have thought it? Finishing off the show this week we have Tobin's New Music Shot and his field recordings masterpiece from Eluvium. Quite why Tobin likens Dead Pony – his New Music candidate – to Eurovision failures is anyone's guess, but he apologises, before he gets lynched by the band. His temptation from Eluvium, and the promise of a seven disc set sends Richard into interstellar overdrive. Bats? Who would have thought they make such good music???

...................#.96................ By Elder Almeida http://www.filefactory.com/file/1figmzlr149r/96.mp3 The Wind of Sorrow The fire of love was burning, yet so low That in the dark we scarce could see its rays, And in the light of perfect-placid days Nothing but smouldering embers dull and slow. Vainly, for love's delight, we sought to throw New pleasures on the pyre to make it blaze: In life's calm air and tranquil-prosperous ways We missed the radiant heat of long ago. Then in the night, a night of sad alarms, Bitter with pain and black with fog of fears, That drove us trembling to each other's arms -- Across the gulf of darkness and salt tears, Into life's calm the wind of sorrow came, And fanned the fire of love to clearest flame. The Anoraks find themselves with an Alex-imbalance as Mr Tom Bonnett hides under his hood this time out. But never fear, some very special guests in the form of fellow station DJs the Sure Ditch Stars’ Talia and Becks step up to the plate in guessing whether Mr Burnard is a phoney in Real Fake. Elsewhere in a rammed show, the Alexes ponder the validity and worth of supergroups, celebrate the life of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti in our tastelessly-titled feature Dead Good and our Adventuring Anorak Cyril gets cantankerous on his next musical stop. We feature Eluvium in Piano Time and enjoy cuts from the Pixies, Louis Prima, Quantic Soul Orchestra and Beck. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
