Are you going with the flow or pushing back on life? Picture what it’s like to walk out into the ocean while the water’s coming in. Every step you take away from shore is difficult – and the progress you make doesn’t quite reflect the effort put in. After a while, it becomes exhausting. This is the opposite of what it’s like to go with the flow. Now, consider what it feels like to walk out into the water and float on your back. You’ll be carried away by the water, going further, faster, and you’ll conserve your energy. This is what going with the flow is like. In this episode, the Fab 5 use these ocean metaphors to talk about what it’s like to enter into the flow of life versus constantly push back. They touch on topics including gaining self-awareness, learning to trust forces outside of yourself, and how flow can affect relationships as well. As many of you know, my daughters have been competing in pageants for quite some time now and have learned so many valuable life lessons and skills throughout their time at these events. However, when they first came to me with the idea to enroll, I was hesitant, to say the least. All I really knew about the pageant circuit was from what I had seen on those reality shows, which wasn’t exactly the ideal picture I wanted to have going in, especially as a Mother. After eventually deciding to embrace their interests and immerse them in this new world, I got the opportunity to meet so many wonderful and talented people through pageantry. Joining me today is one such individual, Rachel Bailey! Rachel is a Director of Coaching at ‘Genius Unlocked Coaching Institute’, former Athletic Figure Skating Coach, and crowned winner of multiple pageants across the country. Through competing, she has gained self-confidence, reassurance, and guidance in her life path and never thought pageantry was something that would one day help her overcome so many insecurities. In this episode, we discuss how Rachel became involved in pageantry, how she has taken ‘S.M.A.R.T’ goals a step further in her coaching sessions, and why practicing gratitude is so vital to our own personal growth. You're working hard, putting in your time and energy and resources, day in and day out. Why aren't you experiencing the same results you'd like to be getting then? There's a myth in our society that good work is the same as hard work, but the truth is that this isn't always the case. At some point, the "I will do all the things" mentality that once helped spur some growth will become the same thing that roadblocks you from getting to the next level. Eventually, your metaphorical blade will dull, and you'll need to take some time to sharpen it again. In this episode, Karlee breaks down The Law of Diminishing Returns, demonstrating how spending all your energy and resources is not always the best strategy to keep moving forward; instead, you may be accidentally sabotaging your best work. Maybe you’ve made some significant shifts in your life or you’re starting to treat yourself better than you used to, and you’re starting to realize that you’re just not a match for these folks in the same away anymore. For us to achieve success in whatever we do, it is imperative that we have a strong mentality instilled in us. Our mindset influences our perspective so strongly and it’s sometimes difficult to reconcile with how much control we have over those thoughts. In this episode, I share my personal tips for developing the correct mindset and teach you how to hone the tools that will assist you in pursuing your goals. I also discuss the importance of asking ourselves ‘why’ questions and explore what our values mean to us on more than just a superficial level. To truly have an understanding of what is important to us, we have to get to the root of those beliefs and be able to sit with the discomfort that may come along with it. One of my mentors and huge inspirations, Tony Robbins, has adopted the ideology that we have the power to apply meaning to whatever happens to us in life. I’m a big believer in this and give some insights into how we can shift our thinking in a more positive direction, as well as take control over how we respond to huge events. Manifestation has been a part of my practice for years now. As a mother and business owner whose life can get pretty overwhelming at times, I’ve often had to remind myself of my own capabilities and inner strength. Our minds are powerful tools and when we learn how to tap into and utilize the best parts of ourselves, anything is possible. In this episode, I share a few strategies I use in working towards my goals, how vision boards have helped me and my family stay motivated, and why using ‘I am’ statements are so important to the way we think about ourselves. We all have so many bright and worthy ideas that are just waiting to be seen by the world and now is the time to put those goals in motion. Creating lifelong, positive habits will show us what we’re able to accomplish and will completely shift the way we think when approaching future desires. It’s also so important that we’re aware of our own worth and recognize that we are capable of achieving what we set out to do, just a few things that are possible through the power of manifesting! If you’re ready to start making your dreams into a reality, then tune in to Episode 7 of Six Pack! Welcome to the landmark 10th episode of Feeling Good! I’ve got another interview lined up, and this one is extra special for #10. Kelly Hanlin McCormick is a fellow life coach who specializes in anxiety. Life is stressful enough, but dentistry adds a unique layer of stress on our lives that can be a little harder to deal with. That’s why Kelly is here - to share with us her strategies for battling anxiety. Therapy is amazing and can really help us process our emotions and feelings, but what happens when we lack the tools to apply all that we’re learning in therapy? That’s the question Kelly sought to answer for herself. She knew her own panic attacks couldn’t be the right way to handle her emotions, and she went looking for a new way to handle stress. What she learned is that anxiety is not just an emotion, it’s a physical response that can send our thoughts and emotions on a rollercoaster ride. Kelly shares the meta-cognition techniques she learned to help us all deal with the rollercoaster of stress and anxiety in our own lives. There are ways to look at your stress and your triggers and use introspection to keep track of all those runaway thoughts that can make our anxiety worse. Runaway thoughts and emotions like disappointment and embarrassment can send our stress spiraling, and Kelly has tricks to help us keep those thoughts in check. The biggest takeaway from today’s podcast is that anxiety is actually a cover for those uglier emotions, like disappointment. As dentists, if we’re disappointed in our performance or we made a mistake with a patient, we might get anxious about how to deal with it. Rather than deal with it, we focus on the anxiety and let it get the better of us. But not today! After hearing Kelly share her own anxieties and how she battles them, you will be inspired to take a new, refreshing look at your own anxiety. Once you accept that you can’t be perfect all of the time, you’ll notice your stress levels drop and start recognizing the ways you can stop those anxious thoughts right in their tracks. In This Episode You Will Learn: What inspired Kelly to pursue life coaching 2:42 The process and training that goes into becoming a life coach 6:30 How to look at anxiety as a messenger rather than an attack 13:40 Where anxiety comes from, including different triggers 17:34 The options your brain gives you when it comes to anxious situations 24:10 The personal mission Kelly is taking on with her clients 30:20 Some Questions We Discuss: What are my clients saying about my podcast? 1:13 How does Kelly apply her life coaching to her own anxiety attacks? 10:00 What does a typical life coach appointment with Kelly look like? 15:20 Why does anxiety show up as a cover emotion? 20:11 How can we stop feeling so anxious as dentists? 27:30 What is the Fierce Calm Project? 36:05 Resources: Visit my website: TheLifeCoachForBusyDentists.com Listen to more episodes: Feeling Good Podcast Visit Kelly’s website: KellyHanlinMcCormick.com Check out Kelly’s favorite book: Finding Your Own North Star by Martha Beck
Get ready! We’re doing something a little different on today’s podcast. I’m having my very first interview ever on Feeling Good, and I couldn’t be more excited. I just spent a weekend seminar with fellow dentist Dr. Christopher Phelps, and I want to share the insights we made over the weekend with all of you, my favorite listeners. Dr. Phelps is sharing with us today his experience with the power of persuasion. Or, as he calls, “pre-suasion”. Working with Robert Cialdini’s 6 Principles of Influence, Dr. Phelps is changing the way we think about our patients and their treatment plans. We’re talking today about Dr. Phelps’ techniques and how you can use them in the dentist’s chair. It’s all about setting the stage for helping patients accept the treatment options you’re explaining and how to offer them the best possible treatment. Where did this unique perspective come from? Dr. Phelps answers that and many other questions about his dental career today, but the most important question we dive into on this episode is how you can change not only our mindset but also that of your patients’ and your staff. When it comes to the powers of persuasion and pre-suasion, it’s all about looking closer and what we say and the questions we ask. Ultimately, you want to get your patients into a “proactive mindset”. According to Dr. Phelps, this proactive mindset is what separates the perceptive patients from the more stubborn ones. If you want patients to respond positively to your treatment options, you have to prime them to be proactive. We discuss the persuasive techniques you can use in your own dental practice to achieve this mindset, including setting the mood and asking the right questions. It’s like I’m always saying - your thoughts have the power to create your reality. What we say matters, and you do have the power to create a proactive mindset in your patients and your team and even yourself. If you’re ready to be an influencer and take on the proactive mind, tune in right now to hear the nuggets Dr. Christopher Phelps is sharing with us. In This Episode You Will Learn: What my listeners are saying about this podcast 1:20 All about Dr. Phelp’s dental experience and entrepreneurship 2:40 How to recognize the different ways people make their decisions 8:20 How to prime a proactive mindset in your patients 10:55 What a proactive mindset looks like in the dental chair 18:55 Tricks for setting - and sticking to! - your goals 24:29 Where you can learn more about the 6 Principles of Influence 26:20 Some Questions We Discuss: What entrepreneurial strengths can be applied to our dental careers? 4:10 How did Dr. Phelps start training with these principles of influence? 6:06 What’s the difference between “persuasion” and “pre-suasion”? 10:13 What is a mindset and how do we shape it? 11:50 How does language shape our mindsets? 14:51 What are the most common mistakes dentists make when it comes to persuasion? 20:22 What is Dr. Phelp’s favorite movie and how does it influence his mindset? 28:34 Resources: Visit my website: TheLifeCoachForBusyDentists.com Listen to more episodes: Feeling Good Podcast Visit Dr. Phelps’ website: GuideThemToYes.com and Drphelpshelps.com. NOTHING SHOULD STAND IN THE WAY OF YOUR STORY. We've had some pretty amazing women on The School of Greatness. I've learned a lot from each of them. In fact, I learn a lot from all the women around me (almost my whole team is women). Today's guest is no exception. Male, female, old, young - we could all learn from this incredible businessperson. Not only is she the youngest self-made female billionaire in America (wow, right??), she is also the mother of four young kids, the wife of another podcast guest, Jesse Itzler, and the founder and CEO of the massively popular women's apparel brand SPANX. In this episode, I got to sit with and learn from a legend among entrepreneurs: Sara Blakely. During this interview, I kept finding out new things to admire Sara for. She struggled a lot in school (me too!). She sold fax machines door to door FOR 7 YEARS before she had the idea for Spanx. She was rejected by every manufacturing company she took her idea to. But she didn't let any of that stop her. Sara's hustle and can-do attitude is just one thing I learned about her in this interview. We dive into dealing with grief, how to scale companies the right way, what it's like to be mentored by Richard Branson, and much more. Welcome to an inspiring interview with a powerhouse in Episode 893. Some Questions I Ask: How did you meet your husband Jesse? (30:12) How do you stay so grounded and calm with everything you have going on? (32:00) What did you learn from being mentored by Richard Branson? (44:47) What is more challenging for you – running a billion-dollar brand or being a mom? (49:46) In This Episode You Will Learn: What happened in Sara’s life to prepare her for entrepreneurship before she had her big idea (7:12) The list of possible product names Sara considered before she decided on Spanx (11:46) The hardest part of getting her company off the ground (15:55) How Sara guerrilla-marketed her first order of Spanx in Neiman Marcus (20:01) Why being kind to yourself is so important (32:15) How Sara got Warren Buffet to paint his belly for her new book (36:32) What grief and loss can teach us (43:01) Plus much more… If you enjoyed this episode, check out the video, show notes and more at http://www.lewishowes.com/893 and follow at instagram.com/lewishowes
Story vs. Fact Welcome to the 8th episode! I just want to give a shoutout to all my fans and say “thank you!”. Starting a podcast has been on my to-do list forever, but I’ve been doing this for a month now and I couldn’t be happier. I asked for reviews and you guys responded in droves! It’s been such an amazing experience that I’ve decided to share it with everyone. I’ll be reading a review before each of my episodes from here on out just so any new listeners - and my longtime ones too! - can really engage with what others are saying. What I’m talking about to do is such a freeing concept. Once you hear about it you’re going to feel like a huge weight has been lifted off your shoulders. That concept is Story vs. Fact, and it’s going to give you a brand new perspective on your career. You’re going to look at your dental practice in a whole new light, I promise. Story vs. Fact isn’t about the news or social media. The stories and facts I’m talking about are our own interpretations of the world around us. Our five senses are responsible for interpreting all the data and all the emotions we run into as we go through our day on this planet. We see, taste, smell, hear, and feel everything in the world around us, and we organize this information based on how it affects us. Unfortunately, you can’t always trust these interpretations because your brain gets very comfortable with routine data, and it can sometimes rush over or stress over certain data points. Think about it. When you hear some bad news at your dental office, your brain starts running over all the possible outcomes. These possibilities aren’t always positive ones because your brain is trained to prepare for the worst. What I’m here to tell you on today’s podcast is that these kinds of thoughts are automatic. We can’t stop them from happening because it’s how our brains and bodies are programmed to survive. What we ARE capable of is deciding to give meaning to those thoughts, or not. If you remember from my earlier episodes, I talked about how thoughts inspire feelings. Feelings then fuel our actions, which means that your thoughts are ultimately in charge of all of your actions. How powerful is that? You are in control of your life, and today’s episode is all about how you can harness the facts in your thoughts instead of listening to all of the stories. The trick to mastering this concept - and what I’m diving deep into on this episode - is recognizing that all of your thoughts are neutral until you apply a negative or positive emotion to them. But if you can think positively, or at least remain neutral about certain things, you’ll notice how powerful it can be to simply change your thoughts. It’s more than just looking for a silver lining, too. What I’m talking about today will teach you how to actively participate in your thought process. I want you to stop worrying about the stories of things that could be but haven’t even happened yet and find a thought that generates a positive feeling inside you. That’s what today’s episode is about. So tune in now and ask yourself - what stories have you been telling yourself? In This Episode You Will Learn: What some of my listeners have been saying about my podcast 1:45 Where I learned this concept of Story vs. Fact 4:00 How your brain really interprets sensory data 5:02 When and how your perspective starts to affect your interpretation of this data 7:45 All of the ways your thoughts affect and empower your life 11:15 Why the Story vs. Fact principle is so critical to the success of your dental practice 14:37 The kinds of negative stories other dentists tell themselves and how you can break that thought process 18:07 Resources: Visit my website: TheLifeCoachForBusyDentists.com Listen to more episodes: Feeling Good Podcast Listen to Brooke Castillo’s podcast: The Life Coach School Podcast
Breakthrough With Coach Mickey Roothman — Manifestation and the Law Of Attraction is either something you're obsessed with trying to master or that you're kind of "meh" about. If you're anything like I was each time i heard about it initially, you're probably thinking it seems a little ego driven and all about greed, because most people speak about it from the standpoint of how you can manifest and attract the material stuff that you want into your life. In this episode I burst the bubble a little on manifestation and the law of attraction and show you a fresh new perspective on it. It was never about the stuff we can get, although some really cool stuff showing up in our experience is a welcome and awesome bonus result of it as well. i de-clutter the whole subject and process of manifestation and law and attraction for you because we've really over complicated something that is really SO DARN easy and simple to do and achieve. IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: * What the purpose of the law of attraction and manifestation is really about * Why the stuff we ask for doesn't and thank heavens shouldn't show up immediately after we ask for it. * Why focusing on asking for the stuff is really what's keeping you from manifesting the life you want (and the things too) * The one and only thing we need to "do" or action we need to "take" to manifest and attract the life (and as a bonus the things) we want. Welcome back to the Dental Slang Podcast! We’ve got a wonderful guest today. Dr. Parag Kachalia is talking with us from California, from the heart of Silicon Valley, and he’s sharing some serious knowledge bombs when it comes to the future of dental technology. Dr. Parag is one of the Seattle Study Club’s Top 10 Young Educators, so you’re guaranteed to learn a little something on today’s episode. First and foremost you will learn what Dr. Parag is a traveling man. He and his family take a trip abroad every year, but he’s also traveling a lot for work. He hops on a plane every Thursday, he says, whether it’s for lectures on digital technology or guest speeches on restorative dentistry for fellow dentists. He’s managed to find that balance between traveling for work and for pleasure and he’s sharing that secret with us today. Other secrets will be revealed in today’s episode, including where and how you can find a different kind of dental mentor. We’ve talking about mentors before on our podcast, after all - mentors are the secret ingredient to your success. But sometimes mentors can be more than just individuals and mastermind groups. Sometimes it’s the place where you live that inspires you, kind of like how Silicon Valley inspired Dr. Parag. Dr. Parag shares his view of where the next stage of dental technology is taking us. So far he sees all of these new tools and this new tech gathering all of this data, but what are we doing with it? The future of dental technology lies in how we apply all of this new data to our dental practices. Developing AI to help us understand the data is one of many views of the future Dr. Parag shares with us today, and we discuss all the ways dentists can work together to bridge our research, our data, and our experiences to improve this profession for everyone. Today, the three of us create a whole new type of dentistry. You can call it daydreaming, but we think it’s more like brainstorming. Thinking about where the future of dental technology can take us is very inspiring, and even Dr. Parag sees these changes influencing the way dental students are learning and the way modern dentists are practicing. He breaks down these different generations and how we can not only teach them but how we can market to them as well. If you’re looking for new ways to reach your dental patients (or even your dental students), then hit play right now. The nuggets of knowledge Dr. Parag shares today cannot be missed. Because he’s doing so much more than just solving our most common dental problems. He’s aiming to create brand new ways that make our practice easier and more comfortable for our patients, our staff, and everyone working to build their own dental practices. In This Episode You Will Learn What inspired Parag and his family to move out to the West Coast 3:32 The driving force that influenced Parag’s tech-savvy dental career 6:20 What it would be like to work remotely as a dentist 13:50 Parag’s experience joining and being involved with the Seattle Study Club 18:30 How to market to different generations of dental patients 25:40 The different slang Parag uses to communicate to patients vs. employees 31:49 Some Questions We Discuss How does Parag balance travel with his dental practice? 5:29 What’s coming up hot in dental technology today? 7:57 Why do patients dislike the dental experience? 16:50 How are these different generations of dental students learning differently? 22:10 What kind of slang does Dr. Parag use to describe certain end of the year dental treatments? 34:34 Resources: Visit our website: www.DentalSlang.com Connect with us on Facebook: Dental Slang Connect with Dr. Parag online: San Ramon Dentist Connect with Dr. Parag on Facebook: Parag R. YOU ATTRACT WHAT YOU ARE. Sometimes to reach the next level in our lives, we must dig deeper. Often, we need to forgive ourselves. We still need to attend to wounds we thought were previously healed. You must show compassion to that inner child who experienced trauma. Replace negative thoughts with thoughts of love and compassion. That’s how we continue to grow and evolve. Our healing does not happen when we hide in the darkness. We must bring our issues into the light. It is a process we all go through. We must let go of the past and embrace our future. The road to recovery is a journey, not a destination. In today’s episode of The School of Greatness, I talk about forgiveness, mental health, and attraction with: Gabrielle Bernstein. Gabrielle Bernstein is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Universe Has Your Back, and has written five additional bestsellers. She has been on an international speaking circuit since 2004. She has presented lectures at Google, TEDxWomen, Oprah’s SuperSoul Sessions, The Chopra Center, The Omega Institute, L’Oréal, Philosophy, and The Huffington Post, among many other notable organizations. Gabrielle is a certified Kundalini yoga and meditation teacher. She is trained in the Emotional Freedom Technique, and she’s a student of Transcendental Meditation, as taught by the David Lynch Foundation. So get ready to learn how to become a Super Attractor on Episode 865. Some Questions I Ask: What is your advice for someone who is doing the work, but it’s not manifesting? (13:50) How do we recover fully from trauma? (19:00) What is the Choose Again method? (23:30) How do we appreciate and appreciate more? (35:20) What are the three biggest lessons from motherhood? This episode of The Dental Slang Podcast is an important one. Dr. Paul Goodman of Dental Nachos fame is joining us today to talk about how we can all work together to create a more positive influence in the dental community. More specifically, Paul shares his strategy for engaging with fellow dentists not only online but face-to-face. Meetups are an important part of Paul’s engagement strategy, and you’ll hear why in today’s episode. When Paul isn’t engaging with his Nacho community or speaking on his own podcast - The Dental Amigos - Paul is working hard at helping dentists fresh out of dental school. We all know that dental school isn’t the most positive environment to start your career, and Paul is working to change the way we learn and engage with one another that challenges this traditional education model. There are so many different ways to connect with other dentists, and Paul shares the strategies that work best for him and all the BADs, MADs, and SADs that he’s working with. Dentists these days need real world experience, especially when it comes to the business side of dentistry. New dentists (and Paul has his own slang for these newbies) don’t know where to begin when it comes to starting their own practice. “Dentisting”, as Paul calls it, might make sense on paper while we’re at school, but putting it into action is a whole new can of worms. To combat this, Paul brings a fresh new perspective that inspires those in the dental community to come together and learn in a way like never before. Paul is using his lectures as well as his social media presence on Facebook to create safe spaces for fellow dentists to learn from one another. It’s a space to talk, complain, vent, learn, and maybe even pick up some new slang from each other. In this day and age, mentors are more important than ever. Connecting with fellow dentists, and uniting in our profession, is a way to keep this channel of knowledge-sharing open for all of the new dentists coming fresh out of dental school. What’s most important to Paul, and what you’ll learn from him today, is how crucial face-to-face meetings are. Paul wants us all to get off the computers every once and awhile and meet up, whether it’s at a lecture or a dinner party. You don’t want to get comfortable doing things just because it’s how they were done “back in the day.” There are new opportunities to learn all around us, so don’t miss out on yours! Tune in now and hear how you can connect with Dr. Paul, both online and off. In This Episode You Will Learn What it’s like to own and operate dental practices in two different states 2:40 Dental slang like BADs, MADs, SADs, and other acronyms Paul uses 5:30 What it used to be like “back in the day” with dentistry 13:57 A fun icebreaker for small group activities 21:00 The groups that Paul likes to lecture to most 24:16 The hardest parts of dental school and how to work around it 33:35 One of Paul’s favorite slang terms 35:50 Why it’s time for dentists to be nice to one another 39:01 Some Questions We Discuss How did Paul come up with the Dental Amigos Podcast? 3:19 What mentors did Paul seek out during his career? 9:55 What are Paul’s favorite analogies for the dental office? 17:34 What does “dentisting” mean? 22:05 What dental slang does Paul use in his offices? 26:14 Do you suffer from TSD? 31:30 What are Paul’s ABCs? 36:35 How can you get a hold of Dr. Paul Goodman? 39:55 Resources: Visit our website: www.DentalSlang.com Connect with us on Facebook: Dental Slang Connect with Paul: www.DentalNachos.com Tune in to Paul’s Podcast: www.TheDentalAmigos.com
If you’re looking for new dental slang, today’s episode is for you. Coming fresh off a great dental day today, and Jodi is sharing some of her new slang right off the bat. Our guest today, Dr. Paul Feuerstein, also shares the slang he learned in his first week of practicing dentistry, but that’s not all he’s talking about today. The godfather of dental technology has his own tips and tricks for using slang to boost the morale at your dental office. Paul is a real rockstar in the dental office. He may have turned down a year of traveling on the road with his band to finish dental school, but he still plays guitar a few times a month with friends and brings that rockstar performance into his dental practice. Paul’s speciality is restorative dentistry, and he’s been working with the same assistant for twenty years. Working this closely with someone means their slang is sometimes just a nod or a wink, but his strategy is really about including the patient in on the fun. As dentists, we’re often up close and personal with our patients. So are our assistants. In this case, Paul likes to talk to and compliment his staff over his patients. This way, everyone’s included in the conversation and the procedure. This kind of personal approach really helps patients understand their treatment plans and what’s going on inside their mouth without the awkward confusion of complicated dental terms. Talking slang with your staff and your patients is a key way to raise the morale at your practice and make this fun. Patients can pick up on either the chaos or the serenity of your office, and you want to create a space that’s as comfortable as possible. For Paul, that secret for serenity lies with his staff. He empowers his staff by showing his appreciation. There are different ways to do this, and we all discuss our favorite ways to compliment, appreciate, and empower our assistants and staff members in today’s episode. Who we work with and how we work together is a key force behind the success of your dental practice. We’re putting on a performance every time we go to work. Sometimes this performance is in what we do, but it’s also in how we talk. How dentists talk to their staff reflects on how they talk to their patients, and vice-versa. Paul’s attitude toward putting on this rockstar performance every day in his dental office is all about making sure everyone knows their role and how important they are in it. It won’t hurt your staff to remind them how awesome they are every day, no matter what slang you use to tell it to them. Not only does Paul have plenty of slang to share, he’s also sharing his tips and tricks for finding the best impression scanners and 3D printers. His simple test for finding the best impression scanner can help you narrow down which brand works best for you and your patients so you don’t have to trudge through anymore dramatic online reviews or arguments about which is better. When it comes to 3D printers, the godfather of dental tech is sharing his two cents. While the realm of 3D printers hasn’t peaked yet, Paul is looking forward to the emerging trends. Tune in now to find out why he thinks 3D is essential for any dentists doing their own implants, and the slang that goes along with it. In This Episode You Will Learn: What it takes to be a rockstar and a dentist 3:55 Why Paul calls it a “dental performance” 8:50 The dental slang Paul learned in his first week of practice 12:09 The different ways to compliment and appreciate your staff and assistants 16:50 Paul’s favorite slang to use with his assistant Karla 20:00 Paul’s trick for finding the best impression scanner 24:09 What 3D printers can actually do for the modern dentist 28:15 Some Questions We Discuss: What should everyone be doing in their dental office every day? 8:10 How does Paul use slang to help patients understand their treatment plan? 9:40 How do you keep your patients engaged during your appointments? 15:30 What does Disney have in common with dentistry? 18:38 What new dental tech is Paul most excited about? 23:20 What one thing should dentists be careful of? 27:40 What slang are other dentists using in their offices? 32:02 Resources: Visit our website: www.DentalSlang.com Connect with us on Facebook: Dental Slang Get some practice management tips from the late Robert Barkley If you’re in Bar Harbor, bring Paul a lobster roll. It might be a little early, but I’m calling it - today’s guest is our favorite by far! Dr. Alan Mead is a podcasting guru and one of the inspirations behind the production of the Dental Slang podcast. Alan has been listening to podcasts since the early 2000s, downloading them to his mp3 player (if anyone remembers those anymore). He’s always been fascinated about people coming together remotely to talk about the things they’re passionate about, and today he’s hosting two podcasts of his own. But his podcasting knowledge isn’t the only reason we invited him onto Dental Slang today. Alan is talking mostly today about the slang he uses when referring to his dental tools. In fact, we all use slang for our tools. Most dental tools have terrifying names, with words like “blade” in them. No patient wants to hear words like that while they’re sitting in your chair! For that reason, we all come up with our own unique, sometimes completely nonsensical, words and phrases to describe the tools we use. Dr. Alan is being completely honest when he says he’s never called a dental tool by it’s real name. In fact, many of us can claim the same. This can cause a lot of problems when we start using the same slang for different tools. For Alan, he’ll call too many of his burs “footballs”, downright confusing his team so they end up bringing him all of the football-shaped burs rather than risk bringing the wrong one by accident. Regardless of these funny little stories, Jodi brings up an excellent point in today’s episode. The slang we use, while sometimes silly, really works at humanizing what it means to be a dentist and sit in a dentist’s chair. Think about it - a lot of our patients are anxious about their dental appointments. It’s a pretty scary, sometimes uncomfortable, place to be. Being able to use slang and other analogies to explain what we’re doing can help patients feel at ease, and can even help them understand the most confusing aspect of dental practice - dental insurance. On today’s episode, the three of us are sharing the different analogies we use with our patients. There’s slang we use to describe our tools, and there’s stories we tell to help patients understand the procedures we’re performing on their mouths. More than that, we use analogies every day to help patients understand the billing process and insurance claims. Anyone practicing in the dental industry today knows the woes of the in-network vs. the out-of-network patient. And sometimes it’s better not to talk about insurance at all. But we can’t avoid that conversation forever. Especially when many of us, like Jodi, are fee-for-service offices. This can often change the dynamic if your patient relationships, and she shares her unique analogies for helping patients understand the charges they’re seeing. Alan and Jodi share their experiences with different insurance slang, and we’re eager to hear your feedback and what slang you’re using to help patients understand your practice. We know that these conversations can be hard to have, and it can help to have a few slang terms and stories to reference when trying to explain something as complicated as dental insurance. So tune in now to hear what dentists like Dr. Alan Mead are telling their patients. In This Episode You Will Learn: What “glamping” really means 1:43 How Alan’s mentorship shaped the production of the Dental Slang Podcast 9:34 All of the jokes you’ve ever heard in a dental office 12:48 Our favorite slang and analogies to use with patients 25:27 The slang we use to help patients understand dental insurance 34:46 Our favorite analogies to use on patients who don’t floss 45:19 Some Questions We Discuss: What does Alan mean when he calls himself a “plain jane” dentist? 4:15 How did Alan create a social life online? 6:35 Why did Alan want to start a second podcast? 8:40 Which slang does Alan use in his dental office? 11:20 Where does the ridiculous slang for dental tools come from? 17:30 Which phrase from Jodi’s slang repertoire is Alan going to steal? 32:11 Resources: Visit our website: www.DentalSlang.com Connect with us on Facebook: Dental Slang Check out Alan’s podcasts: Dental Hacks Podcast and The Alan Mead Dental Experience Get in touch with Dr. Alan Mead at the Dental Hacks Nation Facebook Give it a listen: The Skeptic’s Guide to the Universe Podcast

IT’S TIME TO TRANSFORM. At some point in our lives, we have let go of our old selves and grow into something greater. Think about the king cobra. It starts to feel uncomfortable in its skin. It’s not able to see- its skin makes its vision blurred. So it moves in seclusion. It gets rid of the old skin, and a new shiny skin comes up. Suddenly, its vision is clear. We all need this process. We all need to let go of the past and embrace our future. On today’s episode of The School of Greatness, I talk about freeing ourselves from suffering with one of my most influential teachers: Preethaji. Preethaji is the co-founder of the O&O Academy near Chennai, India. O&O’s campus and teachings are designed to free humans from all forms of suffering. Combining ancient wisdoms and teachings with neuroscience and neurobiology, Preethaji helps students develop a personal practice of mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork with the goal of personal transformation. I studied with Preethaji in India, and it changed my life. She taught me that there are only two states in life: a suffering state and a beautiful state. So get ready to learn how to stop suffering on Episode 830. Some Questions I Ask: Why did this calling come to you when it did? (6:30) How do we stop suffering? Amy Hart (https://www.linkedin.com/in/amy-hart-b91580172/), a former nurse of 25 years, has since started her own life coaching business. With 3 different certifications, Amy focuses on helping women in their lives who have lost their sense of peace and fulfillment. Through her courses and through sessions with Amy, she aims to help these women find what they want to do, and help them achieve the goals that they have yet to put into motion. Together, Amy and I talk about the struggle that businesses owners face, and what sort of things she can do to help people that may be in a similar position. Let’s get started! IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: * What causes chaos among business owners. Amy touches on the fact that starting your own business is very overwhelming, and that it takes all of your own energy, even when you’re not present at your place of work. It’s challenging to turn your brain off and focus on other areas of your life, and Amy works to help remind people of how important is it to focus on other things. It’s okay to be super busy! However, you need to keep your mindset in check, so you don’t experience that sensation of being incredibly overwhelmed. * Amy reminds us that our thoughts create our reality. If you allow yourself to get overwhelmed and practice the idea that you’ll never be able to accomplish what you want, you’ll create that reality. If you change your thinking, and pivot towards something more positive that you can do, your mind will create this reality of peace and fulfillment. You’ll be doing what you want to do, and you’ll be doing it in a positive way. * Amy gives us some of her best tips and pointers. We all have neural pathways in your brain (Amy enjoys calling them “freeways”) that have been created over the years of thinking. If you tell yourself that you won’t think about something and focus on positive thoughts, but you don’t practice that, you’ll never achieve it. Create things like a mantra, or a system that you can follow, to make sure you’re following through on these thoughts you’re creating. * Speaking of mantras, Amy explains what a mantra can be. For most people, they assume that a mantra is something you say to yourself in the mirror over and over again or something you write down on a sticky note and place where you can see it every day. Amy, instead, explains that mantras can be anything you want them to be. Something simple that you can remind yourself of in any given situation where you might need it is a mantra. * Amy explains the benefits of getting a life coach, explaining that coaching is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself. It’s different from therapy, which focuses on your past and how that has affected you today. Coaching, she explains, is all about the forward movement, and creating and achieving what you want. There are tons of different coaches out there doing different things, and in the end, all they want to do is help people figure out what their goal is. * Amy also explains the hesitance around getting a life coach, saying that there’s a lot of ignorance about what it is. It’s a vague thing that sounds very intangible, and it’s very expensive. However, the investment that you make is the buy-in that you need to see it through. Achieving your goal can be done with the help of a coach, and if you haven’t done it already on your own, it’s simply because you haven’t had the help of someone else to see past the barriers you’ve set down for yourself. * Amy touches on the concept of peace and fulfillment, stating that everyone as a definition of what that means for their life. There are so many people trying to fill themselves with something that they haven’t been able to find before, and Amy points out that what women are searching for is often within them.
Knowledge is not enough. We can know what we’re doing isn’t good for us in the long run. We can know that we have weaknesses in certain areas. We can know that we have stored up pain and anxiety. But what do we do with that knowledge? You have to work through your past issues and trauma so that you stop repeating harmful patterns. It’s not easy, but it’s worth it. For this Five Minute Friday, I revisited a conversation I had with Neil Strauss where he shared how he went from being a “pick up artist” to someone capable of having a fulfilling romantic relationship. Neil Strauss is a seven-time New York Times best-selling author. In his latest book, The Truth: An Uncomfortable Book About Relationships, Strauss dives deep into the worlds of sex addiction, non-monogamy, infidelity, and intimacy, and explores the hidden forces that cause people to choose each other, stay together, and break up. Neil says that learning humility was key to helping him grow as a person. He had to admit to himself that he was smart but didn’t know everything. Learn how to heal from your past trauma and keep evolving in Episode 801. Your business is on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest. The experts say to post anywhere from 3 to 22 times per day to all those networks. Can’t you automate that? And if we’re tweeting dozens of times a day, how are we supposed to deal with responses? Can’t those be automated too? What about follower growth? Wouldn’t some automation there be useful? The truth is, there is a lot of automation that can and should be done when it comes to social media, but it’s hard to know what’s good and what’s bad, what will work and what won’t. IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: What does Social Media automation entail? What automation is good and what’s bad. What automation tools are “Safe” to use. What automation practices should be avoided at all costs. When to automate social media activity and how to scale.
Just a few decades ago, businesses understood everything they needed to know about marketing. Marketing then was really all about advertising: newspapers, radio, TV, phone books and billboards. The Digital Marketing Landscape is not only complex, it’s ever-changing. You’ve got major social networks (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest) and minor social networks (SnapChat, Google+, Periscope, and more). You’ve got blog content and videos and podcasts. You’ve got chatbots and social advertising and search engine optimization. And about a billion different tools to sort out. Where do you start? Is it possible to successfully use digital marketing without having to know it ALL? That’s what we’re going to find out. IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: What are the key areas of digital marketing to consider? How do we prioritize? Where do we begin? What are some tips and best practices? What are just a few tools that are essential? Where else can we get help? And this special episode features a special guest, the amazing and fabulous Rebekah Radice!

On top of helping you with credibility, a book gives you a chance to say a lot about a topic that you’re an expert on. Additionally, this book can work as a lead magnet, bringing people back to what you do for business as well as giving them valuable information. * Cori talks to me about why people should write a book, even if they work in a niche field of marketing. If you’re someone who specializes in a very specific field, you’re the perfect person to write a book! Let your personality shine through topics that you think will be dry and boring. Let people know what you’re all about, and let yourself be fun and informative! And remember that everyone’s experience is very difficult, so your book might not appeal to everyone. Don’t let that stop you! * Cori talks to us about the prices when it comes to publishing a book. It doesn’t have to be expensive unless you want it to be, she explains, and you don’t need to hire a writing coach for the whole process either. Most importantly, you need to plan the book up front and put your money towards a good editor. Additionally, you’ll want to make sure that the cover of your book is done by a good graphic designer because people do judge a book by its cover. * When it comes to editing, Cori explains the different kinds of editors that you can collaborate with. Sometimes, you just need a proofreader, which is the quickest version of an editor. The one Cori prefers, however, is a copyedit. They make sure that everything looks clean, sounds good, and they tighten up phrasing and unnecessary words to ensure you’ve got the best copy you can. * Cori gives advice on how to get started on actually writing a book! Anyone who’s been in the business world is no stranger to writing, whether it be through a blog or through bullet points during meetings. Go through and see what you have. See what you can put in the book, and write around what you can’t. You need a topic, first and foremost, and after you have an outline, you can begin your book journey. Cori also mentions the importance of a good title and explains that often, they’ll come through random phrases that authors write offhand. * Lastly, Cori talks to us about what a book coach does. When she coaches people, she gives them certain things that she expects to see back. Additionally, she reviews their materials for them before they’re handed over to an editor. She gives insight from a professional point of view and allows clients to adjust their writing with that mindset. It’s good for someone who’s never written a book before to get feedback in order to let them know if they’re on the right track, of it, you need to shake things up.
YOU CAN'T FAKE IT. Finding your career isn’t something you decide in your head. You have to try lots of things. Put yourself in different environments. Pay attention to what makes you happy. Little by little, you’ll find the right path. When you do, you’ll be unstoppable. On today’s episode of The School of Greatness, I talk about what makes a great entrepreneur with someone who knew she had found her calling once she became a realtor: Barbara Corcoran. Barbara Corcoran is a Real Estate Queen, Shark Tank Shark, and Host of the "Business Unusual" Podcast. Barbara Corcoran’s credentials include straight D’s in high school and college and twenty jobs by the time she turned twenty-three. It was her next job that would make her one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country when she took a $1000 loan to start The Corcoran Group. Barbara is famously brash and blunt, bold and courageous, and a brilliant identifier of opportunity and talent (often invisible to others). She believes that the key to success in business is not the idea but the person. An entrepreneur's passion and drive can make or break a business. IT'S OK TO NOT BE OK. So often we feel like we have to mask what we are going through. We hide our fears. We cover our scars. But the adversity you face makes you a stronger person. You’re not the only one who is battling something. The more vulnerable you can be about what you’re up against, the more other people will be able to support you. It’s going to take a team effort. Don’t let a weak moment become a weak mindset. On today’s episode of The School of Greatness, I talk with a former NFL player who is now tackling childhood cancer: Devon Still. Devon Still is a professional athlete, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and advocate for childhood cancer awareness. He is also a former Houston Texan’s defensive end, a former Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive tackle, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and a Penn State University All-American. Perhaps most importantly, he is Leah’s dad, helping her publicly “beat up cancer” and embarking on a pediatric cancer-fighting journey. Devon shared that once he opened up about his daughter’s battle with cancer, the more love and connection he felt. He now wants everyone to be vulnerable about the storms they are facing. He also knows the importance of having fun along the way. So get ready to learn Devon’s lessons from the football field and life on Episode 764. Vin Clancy (https://vinclancy.com/) is our special guest on today's episode of Traffic and Leads Podcast. Vin knows some of the best ways to gain more traffic and leads towards your businesses revolve around growth hacks. He’s been in this business for a while, and currently, he helps small businesses grow their business through the cheat codes of the internet. Let’s get started! IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: * What you can expect when you read Vin’s book, Ace the Game. Different from his first book, Vin explains that this book sort of focuses on techniques that have worked for him, and how they could help his audience as well. It’s a collection from the best growth hackers in the world, with a couple of his own sprinkled into the mix. * Vin tells us about one of the most powerful growth hacks that exist in his book! The most powerful way to get meetings and startups happening in Silicon Valley, Vin says, is through LinkedIn automation. He tells us about LinkedHelper, a software that allows you to input your target market. Through that information, it’ll find all of those people who work in those fields, and through the day, it’ll automatically connect with those people. If they accept, you can send them the first message, and this process done every day helps create more leads, and more conversations in your inbox. * Vin tells us what makes a good LinkedIn message. While it’s true that you want to be vulnerable, different, and honest about what you’re saying, you need to also make sure that what you’re writing about is something people want to know. Balance those important traits with bringing exceptional information to your market, and bring the best new marketing strategies as often as you can. * Vin gives us another growth hack from his book, stating that most people don’t know that your visitors can be identified. By using a combination of Lead Feeder and Drip, you can insert a couple of lines of code into your website that identifies everyone that visits. These codes grab their name, company, and email address, and using Drip, you can enroll those people into an email sequence. Next thing you know, you’re ready for cold outreach! * When it comes to the number one hack in marketing, Vin gives us some backstory on the e-commerce world. It seems easy to master, but it’s very hard to source products and get ahead of the competition that is so well established. The best growth hack for marketing online is what’s called one click upsell. Popularized by click funnels, this method appears when people are online shopping. Once they add something to their cart, they’re offered something similar on the next screen for purchase as well. With one click, they can purchase this product, or deny the offer. Overall, it’s very successful and increases the average basket size. * Lastly, Vin gives us some hacks for a Facebook group. Using a software called Grytics, Vin explains that in order to make sure your group is top ranked, you need active members. By posting and addressing the members to see who is active, you can then go in and use Gryptics to remove the inactive members of the group, making it easier to find people who want to use what you’re offering. This is a good reason to never buy fake followers, Vin warns.
Stacy Raske Martin (https://www.stacyraske.com/home) is our special guest on today's episode of Traffic and Leads Podcast. Stacy Known as the Empowered Overthinker. Stacy knows what it’s like to suffer first hand from having too much gone on in your brain at once to get something done, and this week, she’s here to share her expertise on how to get yourself on the right track, and how to dig yourself out of mental holes that your brain puts you into. Let’s get started! IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: * What it is that Stacy does! As the Empowered Overthinker, Stacy helps female entrepreneurs who find themselves stuck in cycles of doubt build the confidence and consistency they need to reach their high-level goals and believe they’re good enough to reach out and reach up! Though Stacy does know that the process of overthinking happens to anyone, she notes how differently it manifests in women, especially women who work in the world of business. That’s where her specialties come in handy. * Stacy talks to us about how it works with women and the power of overthinking, noting that there’s so much expectation that women fall under. On top of the pressures from society, women tend to put themselves under a mountain of pressure as well and combined, it makes for a stagnant work ethic when you’re trying to run a business. * In order to find success, Stacy states that you have to first be in alignment with yourself, and your needs. When it comes to building a business, you’re so focused on yourself as the brand, that you don’t tend to think about yourself as a person. When you’re inner critic gets in the way, in terms of sabotage and negative thinking space, it can bring your business down, due to feelings of imperfection, and not being good enough. * Stacy explains to us the 4 simple steps that are amazing for crushing your inner critic, starting with routines! You need to master your morning, your day, and your night, and create time that’s solely dedicated to yourself. By focusing a few minutes of your day on your needs, you’re telling yourself that you’re good enough to have this time. * Second, Stacy talks about the release! You need to let go of the things you don’t actually have control over, and that starts with releasing the energy spent into making these things work. We’re so backed up with emotions that it puts us in a place of being highly reactive to the world, instead of being proactive in what we want to achieve. We need to consciously recognize what we can control, and release what we can’t, in order to clear our brains and shift our focus. * Third, Stacy talks about being able to receive! When you’re working hard on your business, you’re focused on growth and obtaining your goals. However, during that process, you need to make sure you’re not blocking yourself from receiving what’s coming in! The biggest block you can suffer from is expectations—if things aren’t exactly what we expect them to be, we tend to think that we didn’t win. In that case, you’re not receiving your victory due to perfectionism, and blocking your own success as well. * Lastly, Stacy talks about respect. One of the most important things in a business setting is to have respect for yourself by setting boundaries. This is the missing piece for most people, and though it’s a topic of conversation, no one’s really explaining the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of boundaries. They are the mechanism that affects all of the other things we do, and you need to instill a set of personal boundaries for yourself and your work.

Melisa Liberman (https://www.linkedin.com/in/melisa-liberman) is our special guest on today's episode of Traffic and Leads Podcast (https://trafficandleadspodcast.com). The creator of Crushing Motherhood (https://crushingmotherhood.com/), Melisa is a career coach for corporate mothers, and she has the information you need in order to balance your life! From maintaining a state of technology free presence with your children to making sure that you’ve got a 3 step process in place for getting yourself out of that rut, Melisa gives me all the details on what makes her a successful mother, and how you can be the very same. Let’s get started! IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: * What it is Melisa does! As stated above, she works as a dedicated career coach for mothers who are also business owners. These women may find themselves struggling to reach a balance between their former, high performing self and all the motherhood challenges that come into their lives recently. On top of trying to maintain a business career, these women have a family to care for, and Melisa can help them with both. * Melisa talks to us about the feeling of being “stuck”. Often, people can feel stuck due to having too much on their plate. They need things, and they have so many goals they want to accomplish but no way of immediately doing it. With that big (or small) goal on your plate, you can find yourself bogged down and stuck, leaving the goals we’re trying to accomplish in the dust. * Where that feeling of being stuck comes from—our mindset! A lot of it comes from feelings of not being good enough, from feelings of failure and that we’re not capable of actually accomplishing our goals. This underlying thought process about our capabilities and our ability to succeed can hold us back. Additionally, Melisa warns that we might be trying to stretch ourselves too thin with our goals and that the overextension is stopping us from doing anything at all. * Melisa teaches us how to beat getting stuck with 3 easy tricks. The first one involves doing a brain dump—figure out what the things you want to do are, and write them down on a piece of paper. From there, you can see everything laid flat, and whether these goals are personal or business-related, they have a place to exist outside of your head, making it clear and ready for processing. * Step 2 revolves around what you think about your brain dump. Melisa encourages us to peel back the layers to figure out what’s preventing us from taking action, and what’s keeping us stuck where we’re at. When you look at your brain tump, you can write out the thoughts you have about it—if you think you can accomplish it, how you can do it, and why. Through this, you’ll start writing out things that revolve around your capabilities, and what you can and cannot do. These things that lie under the surface are what’s causing you to be stuck, and now you have a way to find and recognize them. * Step 3 involves figuring out what thoughts can serve you. In this process, we can shift into what Melisa calls “B- work”—it’s not done perfectly, but it’s done, and it’s out there. The idea of perfection can weigh heavily on a lot of people, especially in the marketing world, and we all have moments where we’re wondering if we’re spending enough time on this or that. We end up getting stuck due to those thoughts about ourselves, and the judgments we have about ourselves as a parent or a business owner. * Melisa talks about juggling a business with having children, telling us that the first part is knowing what the big picture is. In terms of your business, what are the 2 or 3 things that you’re trying to accomplish at any given time?
POSITIVELY IMPACT THE WORLD AROUND YOU. If you were to ask my grandfather what a billionaire is, he would tell you it’s someone with a billion dollars. Today, that definition has changed - even by Forbes standard. Now a true billionaire is someone who impacts a billion lives. The value of money is declining, and in order to have true value in this world you need to add positivity to the world. It’s so much easier today than ever, especially in the digital age. To dive into this more, I revisited a conversation I had with Jason Silva for this Five Minute Friday. Jason Silva is a media artist, futurist, philosopher, keynote speaker, and tv personality. He is the creator of Shots of All, a short film series of trailers for the mind that serve as philosophical espresso shots exploring innovation, technology, creativity, futurism, and metaphysics of the imagination. He is also the Emmy nominated host of National Geographic’s channel, hit TV series, Brain Games, which airs in over 100 countries. Learn what it means to be human today on Episode 741. In This Episode You Will Learn: What it means to be human today (1:02) The Extended Mind Thesis (2:13) What three questions everyone should ask themselves (4:19)

IT'S ALL ABOUT WHO YOU KNOW. You know how people always say, “There’s power in your peer group?” That’s only half the story. Sometimes you have to buy your way into growth. There are plenty of successful people who want to help you. You just have to create an environment where they can. Sometimes, you have to pay for the knowledge and connections of the leaders in your field. It’s the same way you set yourself up for success with fitness, with education, and with goal-setting: you invest in learning. For this Five Minute Friday, the incredible Brendon Burchard shares why investing in a Mastermind is the way to get to the next level. Brendon Burchard is a New York Times bestselling author whose books include The Motivation Manifesto, The Charge, Life’s Golden Ticket, and The Millionaire Messenger. He was on the cover of SUCCESS magazine in October 2017 and is included in Oprah’s Super Soul 100. When he started out his career, Brendan didn’t have a positive network. He had to make his own. By “buying his way in,” he got connected with influential people who could open doors for him. Learn how to create structures in which people can support you in Episode 729. In This Episode You Will Learn: What a Mastermind is (1:30) About Brendan’s upbringing and how he got connected (2:00) The three benefits of a Mastermind group (3:45) Why it’s worthwhile to invest in your future (4:30)
Jessica Hansen (https://www.thejessicahansen.com/) is our special guest on today's episode of Traffic and Leads Podcast (https://trafficandleadspodcast.com). Jessica helps women get their businesses launched and automated by creating systems, and making sure that things are running in the very best way possible. This week, she’s here with us on the Traffic and Leads podcast to tell us all about the work she does, the software she likes, and how to make sure that your system is up to snuff. Let’s get started! IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: * What it is Jessica does! As stated, she’s the Systems Magician, and Jessica helps visionary women get their businesses launched and automated! She explains that she picked women because of how much she enjoys with them and that she works with mothers specifically because it’s a unique demographic that the bigger names in business don’t understand. There’s a lot of intricacies that you have to balance when you’re a mother with a business, and those are the people that Jessica likes to relate with and help because they’re not well served in the marketplace at the moment. * Jessica takes a moment to discuss Alexa flash briefings with me, along with her book, The Resilience Code. Her book, which just released, is all about creating systems in your life and in your business, so you can be more resilient, and so you can deal with the ups and downs that come your way. If you subscribe to her Alexa flash briefing—Biz Marketing Magic—you can get sneak peeks of the content in her book for free! * Jessica explains that the best systems are the ones that run automatically. This means that you don’t have to think about what you do day to day (since it just happens) and that sometimes, the computer can do it for you, so you don’t even have to be present for things to get done! * Jessica states that every business needs someone that will manage their tasks, and when someone calls her for help in their business, she has a very specific way to get started. If people don’t know where to start, Jessica routes them through an intensive 2-hour interview process to understand what they’re trying to do, and what they’re actually doing. When someone doesn’t know what they’re trying to do, they aren’t really accomplishing any of their goals—it’s important to get things aligned so they can create a system! * Jessica gives us a tip on creating systems, explaining that every time you do something, you should write down what you did. That way, you can go back to it later to see if how you were doing it gave you the best results. If it didn’t, you know what you did, and you can implement a change in your process as soon as possible! * Jessica shares with us the best tools for creating systems for digital marketers, stating first that she’s a big fan of doing things as free and cheap as possible. With that said, Jessica is a big fan of Google Suite, due to how much it can do for free! Additionally, Jessica has a paid membership for Zapier, which is a tool that people can use to create an integration between two applications that don’t have one already! She and I explain the process through an example of myself, and what she did for our business! * Lastly, Jessica explains how important it is for her to try new software! She’s always testing what she can to see if there’s a better, cheaper way to get something done. Efficiency means saving time and money, not just buying whatever is new to do it for you!
CHOOSE THE PATH OF MOST RESISTANCE. Do you avoid challenging yourself? If you do, you’re cheating yourself of reaching your full potential. There is so much you can learn through pain. But we want to avoid it. We want to stay in our comfort zone. Growth, though, is found in the discomfort zone. You have to have the courage to face sickness, disappointment, and discomfort. That’s why I’m so excited to share this conversation I had with someone who has mastered the art of using pain as a way to better himself: David Goggins. David Goggins is a retired Navy SEAL and is the only member of the U.S. Armed Forces to complete SEAL training (including two Hell Weeks), the U.S. Army Ranger School (where he graduated as Enlisted Honor Man) and Air Force Tactical Air Controller training. David is indisputably one of the world’s best endurance athletes. He has completed over 60 endurance races, regularly placing in the top five and taken home first place several times. David says that if don’t give yourself a way out, your body will figure out a way to persevere. We are capable of so much more than we know. Mental toughness isn’t a class, it’s a lifestyle. Learn how to change your outlook on the “bad things” that happen to you and to be excited about what you can learn through hardship on Episode 715. “ANYTHING CAN BE TAUGHT, BUT YOU CAN ONLY GO SO FAR WITHOUT NATURAL TALENT.” Everyone thinks they can be a great entrepreneur. But is that what you’re best at? If a rabbit is trying hard to be a frog, it may make a decent frog. But it would be a much better rabbit. To be successful, you have to combine your natural talent with hard work. Even the most dedicated football player can’t make it to the NFL without innate skill. That’s why I’m revisiting a conversation I had with a person who was born to be an entrepreneur and who has spent his life pursuing it: the legendary Gary Vaynerchuck. Gary Vaynerchuck is CEO of the full-service advertising agency VaynerMedia and is a venture capitalist who has invested in companies like Snapchat, Birchbox, Venmo, and Uber. He’s a 5-time New York Times bestselling author and a sought-after public speaker. Gary makes the argument just putting in the time and energy it might not be enough to make a successful business. Learn how to deal with failure in entrepreneurship on Episode 702. In This Episode You Will Learn: What you need to be a successful entrepreneur (1:30) The thing you need to be okay with when you’re an entrepreneur (2:30) How to find out what you’re naturally best at (3:10) What to ask the five people closest to you (3:40)
WHAT IS YOUR UNDERLYING MOTIVATION? We’ve all been through a lot in life. I know there’s been a lot of times you’ve felt tested, and even just beat down. As you’ve gone through these challenges you’ve acquired sets of skills to help you get through them. Those are important skills that have helped you along your journey, whether you realize it or not. Unfortunately, though, your skills may not help you with what’s next. Life is about continually growing your tool box and being adaptive and not giving up on what you were meant to do. Even though it may be hard to know what that is, you just have to follow your heart. Live for yourself, not for others. That doesn’t mean be malicious. You still need compassion and companionship. Just know you can do good for yourself and others at the same time. On this episode of 5 Minute Friday, I wanted to bring you back and episode from Chris Guillebeau. Chris is a NY TImes Best Selling Author, a modern day explorer, and has been to nearly every country in the world. He’s certainly faced an overwhelming amount of challenges, some we can only imagine. That’s why I felt he was the best person to dive even deeper into this lesson. Learn all about compassion and building your skill sets through your personal trials, on Episode 678. In This Episode You Will Learn: What makes a true quest (00:42) How to know when to continue the quest and when to stop (1:39) Why you need to keep building skill sets (2:24) Something you should give that’s better than advice (3:49) If Chris feels he’s been getting enough companionship (4:16) Chris’ definition of happiness (5:18)
“NO ONE FEELS 100% CONFIDENT IN THEMSELVES ALL THE TIME.” - EMILY SKYE There’s so many times where we focus on what society tells us will make us happy, and that’s all we chase. Money, a nice car, a house, and material objects that show off our “success." We always end up overlooking ourselves. You avoid exercising until the doctor says you have to. I’m sure you’ve experienced it plenty. You ignore your stress at work until you just can’t take it anymore. Ultimately your emotional state should take a priority. Without it, you can’t be at your best. At the end of the day, happiness is an emotional. All of the material items in the world can’t get you there. That’s why I wanted to do a mashup this week on overcoming emotional obstacles from some of the masters: Emily Skye, Josh Shipp, Rupi Kaur and Joshua Millburn. On this episode you’ll learn how to overcome emotional barriers that continue to hold us back. If you take these lessons from people who have come from all walks of life you’ll be able to achieve your true destiny. Please, sit down with this one and take notes. I know it’s going to help you tremendously. So learn how to keep your emotions in line to nail your goals, and feel fulfilled, on Episode 671. Some Questions I Ask: Do you still go through times of being insecure? (5:40) Why do you get insecure at times? (6:32) If something isn’t working in your business, how do you handle the inner critic? (10:26) How old were you (Shipp) when you met your final foster parents? (15:56) Do you (Rupi) think your work would be as powerful without going through pain and suffering? (19:43) In This Episode You Will Learn: What everyone needs to be responsible for (5:04) Tools you can use to overcome insecurities (7:48) How Emily stays grounded when things are going well (11:38) How Josh Shipp was emotionally removed from people who were trying to help him (14:02) Shipp’s lesson from a night in jail as a teenager (16:38) The danger of being your own worst enemy (18:41) How Rupi continues to create new things (21:03) What you need to focus on (22:34) How Joshua Millburn knows what needs to be fixed (25:17)
“It’s what you do with the tools, not what the tools are themselves” - Casey Neistat How many times do you try to look for success and fulfillment through logic? You might be looking too hard and in the wrong direction. Creativity is the key to unlocking your dreams and vision for the future. If you can unlock that creative mindset, you’ll be set for life. Machines and computers can do logical tasks and hard work, but they’ll never be able to be creative. That’s something only a person can do. Some people find their creative passions easily, while others feel a struggle. If you’re one who struggles, don’t worry -- finding your unique passions aren’t as hard as you might think. The key is to let go of your feeling of judgment. Let your mind relax and think about what made you weird or unusual as a child. Those fun oddities are what will make you something big today. To go more into unlocking your creativity, I wanted to bring you back past episodes from Chase Jarvis, Casey Neistat, Manoush Zomorodi, and Liz Gilbert. Continuing my mashup series, I felt it was important to bring you the masters of creativity. These conversations have helped me unlock my passions to new levels and I know they will help you too. No matter where your creativity lies, if it’s in writing, creating content on YouTube, or still something you are trying to discover, this episode will bring you valuable insights. Don’t forget to take these lessons and practice them any chance you get. Knowledge is only useful when it’s applied to your life. So learn all about unlocking and mastering your creative side, on Episode 668. In This Episode You Will Learn: What makes you great (4:35) How insecurity helps success (6:26) The relationship between an audience and content (8:39) How to learn about new media and YouTube (10:05) The key to creating successful content on YouTube (12:22) The problems our world faces right now and how to fix them (15:11) How to be creative with an impossible schedule (16:24) The ways mother nature will heal your mind (18:24) Jackhammers and hummingbirds (21:28) Why you need to follow your curiosity (25:46) Plus much, much more
ADDITION IS MORE POWERFUL THAN SUBTRACTION. You’ll hear from a lot of people that if you want to succeed at something you need to cut out all of the bad. This may be in your business, your personal life, or even in your health. In reality, that’s not always the easiest thing to do. How many time have you had your heart broken and find yourself going through your ex’s Instagram posts to see what they are doing? Sure, it would be nice to cut it out - but for some reason you just can’t. The key is not to subtract these things from your life, but to add more positive things. When you do this, you won’t have the time to let bad things into your life. For example, if you are at a restaurant and you sit down at the table you may be eyeing the dessert menu. Maybe that chocolate cheesecake sounds so good. When you order your meal you start with a salad, then order a healthy plate with a lot of vegetables. When you’re finished eating, you’re so full you don’t even want that cheesecake anymore. Apply that same principle into your life. Fill it with positivity in every area of your life and the bad will weed itself out over time. To dive deeper into this subject, I wanted to bring you back an older episode from Natalie Jill. Natalie is an inspiration to everyone. She wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and at one point lost everything she had worked for. Since then she’s gained it all back and more. She sat down and gave insights on how she is able to continually build on her success, and how anyone can achieve their goals. So learn how you can make your dreams come true through abundance instead of deprivation, on Episode 666. In This Episode You Will Learn: What you should think about in fitness (00:54) How to improve your emotional health (1:39) What feeds into negativity (2:53) What Natalie wants to be known for (3:42)
“NEVER LET ANYBODY GET IN THE WAY OF YOUR DREAMS. NOT EVEN YOURSELF.” So many times in this world we let others dictate our lives. We listen to our parents, our friends, even our neighbors on what we “should do” with our lives. No one knows our true purpose -- that’s something we have to find on our own. Our passions and our love should be what guides us in life, not just logic. Life’s too short to spend precious moments chasing something we don’t care about, something that doesn’t make us feel fulfilled. Sure, you could be a doctor or a lawyer and make money fast: but what good is the cash if you’re miserable? When you follow your passion and master those skills, the money will follow, and it’ll be worth the delay. That’s why for today’s episode of The School of Greatness, I brought on a truly inspirational woman: Michelle Waterson. Michelle is a wife, a mother, and an amazing UFC fighter. She had a passion for martial arts even as a child but pushed her passion aside to listen to what her parents wanted. She went to college and studied things she didn’t really care about. One day she was hired to work as a ring girl at a UFC fight and watching the action up close made her decide she wanted to continue her childhood passion. As soon as the semester was over, she left school and started training to be a fighter - but there was only one problem. At that time there were no UFC women. In fact, the UFC was very clear they were never planning to let women into the UFC. She didn’t let that stop her. She continued to train and take small fights any chance should could. Finally, all the hard work paid off. The UFC started letting in women fighters, and she’s had an incredible career that didn’t exist not too long ago. If you’re wondering if you should actually pursue your passion, no matter how unconventional it may be, you need to hear Episode 655. Some Questions I Ask: What has being a fighter taught you about femininity and masculinity? (7:36) You were a ring girl and then thought it would be fun to be in the ring punching people? (11:27) What’s a smoker? (14:11) If there were no women in the UFC at the time, what was your vision? (16:02) What does it take to be a champion in the UFC? (19:44) What’s the challenging part for you mentally and physically from the moment you get the phone call to the moment you step in the ring? (22:36) What has your biggest loss taught you about yourself? (26:44) What was the most challenging emotional wave you had to experience leading into a fight? (30:52) How do you get back to keeping your mental strength after and injury or bad loss? (41:32) What’s the greatest thing your dad taught you about being a better woman? (44:58) What kind of example do you want to set for your daughter? (47:08) In This Episode You Will Learn: What it is about fighting that Michelle loves (9:02) Her next step after training in Thailand (13:46) How long she was an amateur fighter (14:56) Her biggest fear today (18:08) What she does to silence the conversations that try to hold her back (20:56) How she respects her opponents when she’s fighting them (25:02) How she manages emotional up and downs (28:52) How she was able to focus on her fights, despite all of her emotional ups and downs (38:32) The greatest lesson her mom taught her (43:09) Plus much, much more

In This Episode You Will Learn: What are four key steps to unleashing my authentic self? How can I go about being the person I truly am?
THESE SUPERSTAR TWINS COULD NEVER HAVE IMAGINED THEIR LIFE TODAY. One of the things I love most about how the world is growing is how the boundary between genders has been crumbling down. It used to be that a woman’s place was only in the home. More and more that stereotype is being disproven. Women are entering more and more areas that wouldn’t have been imaginable when I was younger. When I was a kid, when you’d think wrestlers you’d think Hulk Hogan or Randy Savage. Now you think of people like today’s guests: Nikki and Brie Bella. These two sisters are a true inspiration to the next generation of women. They are the definition of girl power and show that anyone can achieve greatness in anything they want. If you haven’t heard of the Bella Twins, they are WWE Superstars, Reality TV stars, and fashion designers. I felt so fortunate to sit down with them and have them tell me everything they know about greatness, which is a lot. So much, in fact, that this interview went longer than most episodes. I couldn’t stop, and I know you’ll love every moment of this one. Nikki and Brie told me how they went from small town farm girls to superstars. They talk about the adversity they went through, struggling in a toxic home environment, and even Brie losing her high school sweetheart to a drunk driver. Discover all of that and much more, on Episode 625. Some Questions I Ask: How did you get to think bigger than the farm life? (16:06) When did you audition for Diva Search? (24:15) In four days you had a contract with WWE? (29:16) Why were you nervous to be on Total Divas? (36:15) How do you know when to say no to something? (45:48) What was the moment that you cried the most? (54:16) When did you start to go down your spiritual path? (1:00:19) Did you go on your spiritual journey at the same time? (1:04:26) What’s the biggest lesson you both learned from your mom? (1:11:34) Has there ever been a point where you guys disconnected? (1:23:20) What are you most proud of your sister for? (1:28:02) In This Episode You Will Learn: What they dreamed about growing up (10:17) Their first job at Hooters (22:00) Why you should go to a WWE show (30:52) How long training was (32:30) Their morning routines (38:35) What it was like leaning on the job (50:23) The biggest lesson their father taught them (56:17) What it was like for Brie to lose her high school sweetheart (1:03:02) Their childhood regrets (1:08:00) What it’s like being in a relationship with inspiring, powerful men (1:15:03) Advice to coming of age girls who are feeling overwhelmed by the world (1:24:36) The feedback they have for each other (1:34:52) Plus much, much more
I'M COMMITTED TO FEELING A CERTAIN WAY EVERY DAY. One of the most important things you can do to get your mindset ready for success is to have a strong morning routine. That's honestly why I wrote my latest book, The Millionaire Morning. We only have so much attention we can give out. To people, to goals, to anything. As a result it's important to have that strong foundation. For this episode of 5 Minute Friday I wanted to bring you this insightful clip from an episode with John Assaf. John is one of the leading behavioral and mindset experts in the world. He has written two NY Times Best Sellers, was in The Secret and has built 5 multi-million dollar companies. He shares why you should be concerned with your limited number of attention units and how you can start everyday ready to win. Discover all of that and much more, on Episode 609. In This Episode You Will Learn: What attention units are (1:01) John's routine to productively use attention units (1:55) Why you need to have a routine (2:53) How to change your behavior for success (4:23) What it takes to move from ignorance to awareness (6:30) How to get over your fear of failing (8:00) Plus much, much more
"LOOK FOR THE THING THAT DOESN'T DRIP WITH COMFORT There's so many times I try to find the fast or easy way to get things done. I'm sure you've been there too. We want to get things done as efficiently as possible. But honestly speaking, shortcuts are rarely the answer because if they were, they wouldn't be a shortcut. They'd just be the way. Many times we need to avoid taking shortcuts. We need to do the hard work because it'll save us time and money in the long run. For this episode of 5 Minute Friday I brought back the renowned Mike Rowe with this clip on the importance of hard work and how even the most successful people in the world take pride in their hardest working days. Learn the importance of not taking the easy way out, on Episode 606. In This Episode You Will Learn: What society tells us about achieving happiness (:56) The thing that the most interesting people do (1:52) What the most important people in our country wanted to tell Mike (2:32)
AT THE END OF THE DAY LOVE IS WHAT MAKES THIS WHOLE THING HAPPEN. One thing I've learned over the years is that you really do need to follow your heart. Do what feels good for you and ignore the people who are putting you down for it. Don't listen to the naysayers because they don't understand your passions. If you feel yourself being pulled to something, and excitement fills you when you do it, then follow that path. You'll be surprised at how fast, when you make it, the people who put you down become your ultimate supporters. For this episode of 5 Minute Friday I wanted to bring you back this inspirational clip from a previous episode with Stephen tWitch Boss. You probably remember tWitch as being a fan favorite on So You Think You Can Dance and the DJ on The Ellen Show. Learn the importance of following your heart and how to bypass the naysayers on Episode 603. In This Episode You Will Learn: What you need to do in life. (1:16) Who you should and shouldn't listen to (1:50) How to win over your naysayers (2:17) The concept people struggle with the most (2:28) How you know if you have what it takes to make it (3:16) What makes things happen (3:40)
We need to think about feelings and how we respond to them as something we have control over. I have had a lot of injuries in my life. I've even had a physical injury that destroyed my sports career. Honestly, that was nothing compared to some of the emotional injuries I've been through. We all tend to neglect our emotional injuries. We push them off and consider ourselves as wimps or over-emotional. In reality, these injuries are extreme. They need to be cared for like any broken bone. If we continue to ignore our heartbreaks, that pain will never heal. It will carry with us for years, or even decades. On this episode of The School of Greatness I'm joined again by the amazing psychologist, Guy Winch, to discuss emotional pain -- whether it's from a break up, the loss of a loved one, or any other negative feelings that may be holding you back in life. Dr. Guy Winch, is a licensed psychologist, author, and in-demand keynote speaker whose books have been translated into twenty-four languages. Dr. Winch's viral TED Talk, Why We All Need to Practice Emotional First Aid, has been viewed over 5 million times and is rated among the top 5 most inspiring talks of all time on TED.com. His upcoming book, How to Fix a Broken Heart, just came out and that's what we dove into in this episode. Previously on the show (way back in year 1), we talked about the idea of "emotional first aid" and how important it is for us to learn how to heal our emotional injuries just like we do our physical ones. However, as Guy pointed out, heartbreak is a special kind of emotional pain and there are certain behaviors that support us in healing from this (and many that don't.) Learn how to understand yourself and your friends in heartbreak, and heal the healthy way, on Episode 601. Some Questions I Ask: How do we communicate with someone who has a broken heart? (7:02) Should we feel embarrassed for grieving? (12:32) What are examples of some things people do with feelings thare ok, or that they shouldn't be doing? (14:21) What are thoughts we should be having after a heartbreak? (18:30) What's the best approach to process the feelings? (25:36) What's the best way for friends to reach out to someone going through a heartbreak? (31:08) What's the longest it took you to get over a romantic relationship? (40:15) What's the biggest lesson you've learned about yourself from 20 years of psychology? (43:10) What do you think is holding you back from doing what you want to do faster? (47:03) Has there ever been a challenge someone brought to you that you didn't feel like you could find a solution for? (52:00) In This Episode You Will Learn: What happens if you don't process your heartbreak (10:36) The stupid feelings Dr. Winch has (13:02) The time frame for when someone should be able to get back to a normal life after a heartbreak (16:32) The best process for when you breakup with someone (21:42) Which is harder to recover from, an emotion or a physical injury (27:34) A serious heartbreak that took Dr. Winch a long time to recover from (35:45) What's the greatest part about being a psychologist for Dr Winch (41:32) The greatest challenge Dr. Winch faces in his life right now (44:34) A common theme he's learned about people (49:00) And much, much more

For all of you who are feeling this way, I wanted to bring you back this clip from a previous episode with Joshua Fields Millburn. In This Episode You Will Learn: What minimalists ask themselves (1:02) How minimalism helps with debt (1:28) The oldest person Joshua helped become a minimalist (2:07) The youngest person Joshua has known to be a minimalist (2:28) The truth about the minimalist lifestyle (2:58) The 3 rules of minimalist mindset (4:10)

"JUDGMENT COMES FROM THE MOMENT OF SEPARATION.” One thing I’ve always struggled with in life is feeling like I was being judged. I was afraid of what people would think of me, and I felt I had an image I needed to keep up. I’m sure you can relate. I discovered that this was caused more by judgment of myself. I was judging everything I did right, and everything I did wrong. Anything I did wrong I would beat myself up for. One thing I’ve been working on is letting go of judgment. I try to observe when it’s there, and not have any emotional attachment to it. It’s amazing how much the world can change when judgment isn’t in the picture. "Judgment is toxic and holds us back from living our lives.” On this episode of The School of Greatness we are joined by Gabrielle Bernstein. Gabby is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Universe Has Your Back, and has written five additional bestsellers! She was featured on Oprah’s SuperSoul Sunday as a “next-generation thought leader,” and The New York Times named her “a new role model.” She appears regularly as an expert on The Dr. Oz Show and co-hosted the Guinness World Record largest guided meditation with Deepak Chopra. Gabrielle is a certified Kundalini yoga and meditation teacher. She is also trained in the Emotional Freedom Technique and she’s a student of Transcendental Meditation, as taught by the David Lynch Foundation. YouTube chose Gabrielle as one of its 16 YouTube Next Video Bloggers. Mashable included her in its list of 11 Must-Follow Twitter Accounts for Inspiration. Forbes called her one of the 20 Best-Branded Women. Gabby is here to talk about her newest book, Judgment Detox, Release the beliefs that hold you back from living a better life, that is being released in January 2018. She gives amazing insights on how to control the feeling of judgment and find inner peace and respect for yourself on Episode 581. "Forgiveness isn’t something we have to go figure out.” Some Questions I Ask: Why did you write judgment detox? (5:05) What was judgment doing to you? (6:23) Do you feel like you were more judgmental of yourself or others? (9:54) When did you realize you were so judgmental? (10:41) What’s worse, judging others or judging yourself? (14:40) Do you feel like in order to be less judgmental we have to forgive first? (18:12) What happens when you are triggered? (23:51) How do you approach someone to end judgment of you? (27:51) Do you feel like you and your husband are less judgmental of each other now? (31:04) Who is this book not for? (31:40) In This Episode You Will Learn: What judgment was doing to Gabby (6:23) How judgment is like an addiction (8:26) The effects of word on judgment (10:20) How to stop judging ourselves for judging (11:38) What’s possible for us when we stop judging ourselves or others (14:52) How to navigate everything happening today without judgment (16:19) What happens to our world when we are judging more (26:18) The biggest thing that’s opened up for Gabby since the book has been completed (30:18) Gabby’s vision for her life this year (32:14)
Lorraine Ball (https://www.linkedin.com/in/roundpeg) is our very special guest on today's episode of Traffic and Leads Podcast (http://trafficandleadspodcast.com/). She is Owner of Roundpeg (https://roundpeg.biz/)—a digital company that works with small businesses on a variety of things, from web design to e-mail marketing. Today she is talking about the importance of user generated content marketing. IN THIS EPISODE YOU WILL LEARN: What it is Lorraine thinks are the most important things to start with when it comes to user generated content. She speaks of OPC—standing for “other people’s content”—and expresses that soliciting information from the people that love you helps expand your message and lets you reach a wider audience in a shorter amount of time. Lorraine also emphasizes the importance of asking questions, stating that—at a minimum—you should be asking for reviews on Facebook and Google. Not only do people love good reviews, but search engines do, too! Lorraine gives us a few examples in recent pop culture where people are creating a foundation and structure for their work based on user generated content, and interaction across social media. In her words, “you can’t fake authenticity”, and reaching out to a wide audience like this can ensure that the content you’re getting is a real as it can be. While Lorraine encourages us to try and get testimonials from the people who love and support us, she also notes that when you’re the busiest, you’re able to focus on what you’re doing. For an example, she tells us about the automated system they’ve set up with Roundpeg, where e-mail addresses go in, and campaigns go out. Just like that! She also encourages us to get creative, and to not be too surprised if the results you get are a little different than expected—after all, different can be good, too! Lastly, Lorraine reminds us that social media is about the ego—people share content with the purpose of being noticed, and returning that favor to people you work with, and fans of what you do, is just one of many ways to encourage them to follow along and give you the same traffic you’re giving them.

Robyn Baldwin is an Alpha Female and a Work / Life Harmony Strategist. She is a full-time Marketing Manager, a fitness/lifestyle blogger at RobynBaldwin.com, a former CFL cheerleader and fitness competitor, a published fitness model, a freelance writer, a future best selling author, a brand ambassador, a sponsored athlete and a podcaster. She now spends the majority of her spare time training for obstacle course racing. She also calls herself an MS Warrior after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in December of 2014. What is an “Alpha Female” you ask? Well, you're about to find out, from the fascinating powerhouse herself. Being an alpha female is a beautiful thing. It gives you the extra title of being strong and majestic and while it can be intimidating to some, it’s really quite a marvelous trait to have. Robyn tells us some of the common female struggles she has come across, or been asked about, and shares with us tips and advice of how to overcome these struggles. “I find there are 2 common themes. One is trying to be nicer to ourselves, learning to do less, be less of a perfectionist and truly being okay with outcomes…accepting the seasons of our lives and the second, is being nicer to ourselves, physical fitness wise.” Sometimes just going for a long walk rather than a crazy workout at the gym, is just what the doctor ordered. Noticing and owning your Alpha is what Robyn instills. Grabbing the bull by the horns, with or without the permission of others around you, is what life is all about. “I may not always be embraced, but I would rather be respected than always completely loved.” We are all a mixture of masculine and feminine energy, some more than others. Reeling in the nurturing and caring side of an Alpha female isn't always the easiest, but it can potentially create an absolute unstoppable woman. “I’m always testing my limits, I’ve skydived, bungee jumped and I am constantly partaking in obstacle course runs, but simply asking the person next to me on the airplane, how their weekend was, is totally outside of my comfort zone.” Well it’s about that time ladies… Right here, right now, Robyn and I challenge you all to step outside your comfort zone and go own your Alpha. Like Beyoncè says, “Who runs the world? GIRLS!” In This Episode You Will Learn: What an Alpha female is How to Own that term Empowerment About putting yourself first How to overcoming struggles About nurturing, caring and helping others Resources: The Alpha Female Podcast Robynbaldwin.com/alphafemale Join Robyn’s FREE Challenge today at robynbaldwin.com and peek into this powerhouse’s personal life on Instagram @Robynbaldwin or even on Facebook @Robynbaldwin.
