In this heartfelt and thought-provoking episode, Candace Dunaway dives into the powerful concept of becoming “bespoke.” Inspired by rediscovering the meaning of the word, she reflects on how often people shape themselves to fit expectations, trends, or the comfort of blending in—living lives that are more “off the rack” than soul-aligned. Candace gently challenges this pattern, reminding listeners that they were never meant to be mass-produced. Through personal insight and soulful reflection, she explores what it looks like to intentionally craft a life that is uniquely your own—one that honors your individuality, your pace, and your truth. This episode is an invitation to slow down and engage in the meaningful, sometimes uncomfortable work of becoming who you were always meant to be. Because just like something truly bespoke, your life is meant to be thoughtfully created, deeply personal, and entirely one of a kind.

Reactive abuse is real, and it is also the disempowered survival persona abusing from the victim position. Both partners are using the same control mechanisms from opposite ends of the same codependence spectrum, and that is the truth nobody in narcissistic abuse recovery wants to hear.If you have spent years in narcissistic abuse recovery, watched every Dr. Ramani video, read every book on covert narcissism, and still keep finding yourself in the same dynamic with a different partner, this video is going to make sense of it differently than anyone else has explained it. You will see the part of the codependent dance that the entire recovery industry refuses to name, and you will see why naming it is the only thing that finally gets you free. This video walks through the Worst Day Cycle™, the Authentic Self Cycle™, and the Emotional Authenticity Method™ as applied to the reactive-abuse dynamic, with the doctrine of the Race to the Victim Position that explains why every conflict turns into a competition for who was hurt more. You will see how the falsely empowered survival persona and the disempowered survival persona are two ends of the same codependence spectrum, why the empath manipulates from below just as effectively as the narcissist manipulates from above, and the boundary script that ends the race in real time.Reactive abuse is real. It is also the disempowered codependent's survival persona running an old childhood program. Kenny Weiss teaches that the person attracted to the narcissist manipulates and controls just as much, but from the victim position, and that the path out of trauma bonding requires both partners to see their side of the dance instead of cataloguing the other side's crimes. Without that, the same pattern recreates itself in every next relationship. The Race to the Victim Position is the relational expression of the Worst Day Cycle™. When a trigger fires, both partners regress into wounded children at the same time, and the room becomes a competition for who is the bigger victim. Nobody wins that race. The relationship loses. The exit is naming the race in real time, pausing the interaction, owning your side of the court, and running the Emotional Authenticity Method™ to trace the activation back to its childhood install point.Kenny Weiss is a relationship, communication, and childhood trauma recovery specialist who works with high-functioning adults stuck in repeating codependent patterns. He created the Worst Day Cycle™, the Authentic Self Cycle™, and the Emotional Authenticity Method™. Emotionally unavailable is the wrong word. The man you call distant is not unavailable, he is unprotected. What you have been calling a personality flaw is a survival strategy with a specific childhood origin and a specific dissolution path nobody else is teaching you.If you have spent years asking your partner why he shuts down, why every emotional question lands on a wall, why he can be warm in public and silent the second the door closes, this video will name what is actually happening underneath. You will see the engulfment that built the wall, the bodyguard that has been on duty since he was five years old, and the reason therapy and couples counseling have not been able to touch it. You will also see why you, the pursuer, picked him in the first place, and what your own work is.This video walks through the Worst Day Cycle™, the Authentic Self Cycle™, and the Emotional Authenticity Method™ as applied specifically to the love avoidant or shutdown partner, with the doctrine of Silence as the Bodyguard, the three core fears underneath the wall, and the blueprint symmetry that magnetically locks the pursuer and the avoidant together.Emotional unavailability is a survival strategy, not a personality. It forms when closeness in childhood meant being consumed by a parent's unmet emotional needs. The avoidant grew up in a home marked not by absence but by too much, too much emotional responsibility, too much enmeshment, too much pressure to manage the parent's inner world. The child made the only move available, which was to wall off, and the adult is still using a strategy a five year old built. Kenny Weiss teaches that the fix is not better communication, it is dissolution of the survival persona at the root through the Emotional Authenticity Method™.The avoidant has three core fears running underneath the wall. The fear of being consumed, the fear of being seen, and the fear of being responsible for another adult's emotional world like he was for his parent's. His greatest conscious fear is intimacy, but his greatest unconscious fear is abandonment, which is why the wall is the exact thing pushing his partner toward the door. This is the paradox the relationship advice industry has not been naming, and naming it correctly is the first step out of the dynamic.Kenny Weiss is a relationship, communication, and childhood trauma recovery specialist who works with high-functioning adults trapped in repeating pursuer-avoidant dynamics. He created the Worst Day Cycle™, the Authentic Self Cycle™, and the Emotional Authenticity Method™. In this heartfelt episode of The Spiritual Cupcake Podcast, Candace explores what it truly means to show up as yourself—fully, honestly, and unapologetically. Inspired by a TV show where each family member expressed themselves freely (even when it created tension), this episode reflects on the contrast so many of us feel in our own lives. The pressure to keep things smooth. The habit of walking on eggshells. The quiet tendency to shrink, soften, or stay silent just to avoid conflict. But what if being real doesn't have to break relationships? What if things can feel messy… and still be safe? What if disagreement isn't rejection? This episode is a gentle but powerful reminder that: You don't have to be perfect to belong You don't have to stay quiet to be loved And you are allowed to take up space—even if it ruffles a few feathers Because real relationships aren't built on perfection… they're built on truth.

Somatic emotional regulation is the missing piece for overthinkers. You cannot think your way out of trauma — your thoughts are lawyers arguing for whatever your body has already decided is true based on your childhood emotional blueprint. In this video, Kenny Weiss explains the neuroscience of why your thoughts follow your emotions (not the other way around), reveals how your left brain operates as a sophisticated denial machine that keeps you stuck in intellectualization, and walks you through the 5-step Emotional Authenticity Method™ for somatic emotional regulation. You'll learn the Snake metaphor (why CBT's positive reframing fails when your body is screaming), Negative Emotional Differentiation, and how somatic titration brings your prefrontal cortex back online so you can heal at the root instead of analyzing in circles.Kenny Weiss is a trauma recovery and relationship coach, ICF Certified Professional Life Coach, and creator of the Worst Day Cycle™, the Authentic Self Cycle™, and the Emotional Authenticity Method™. He is the author of “Your Journey to Success” and “Your Journey to Being Yourself.”Somatic emotional regulation bypasses intellectualization by connecting directly to the body's stored trauma rather than trying to think through it. Kenny Weiss's Emotional Authenticity Method™ uses a 5-step process: (1) name the core emotion using a feelings wheel, (2) locate the physical sensation in the body, (3) trace it to the earliest childhood memory, (4) identify how the current event mirrors the original wound, (5) use “feelization” to reconnect with the Authentic Self. The Secret to Being Yourself (Is Obedience) | Mark 3

https://nicoleunice.kit.com/Today we’re in Mark chapter 3, and I’m calling this episode “The Secret to Being Yourself,” because this chapter shows us how Jesus moves through intense pressure without losing His center. The crowds are pressing in, the religious leaders are watching Him like hawks, and even His own family shows up thinking He’s out of His mind. And yet—Jesus doesn’t get pulled around by expectations, fear, or public opinion. He stays anchored in one thing: obedience to the Father. We watch Jesus heal on the Sabbath and expose what really matters in the kingdom of God—mercy, restoration, and full life. We also see how quickly opposition escalates, and how willing people are to protect power when Jesus disrupts their system. But the comfort in all of it is this: when following Jesus costs you approval, you’re not alone. Jesus shows us that belonging isn’t just about bloodlines or popularity—it’s about being part of a new family formed around God’s will. And I want us to walk away asking: Am I willing to trust God’s timing and obey Him—even when it disappoints other people? What We Cover: - Understand what Mark 3 reveals about Jesus’ priorities: mercy, restoration, and life—not legalism. - See why Jesus’ healing on the Sabbath becomes a flashpoint and what it teaches about “the higher law” of love. - Notice what makes Jesus righteously angry: stubborn hearts that miss opportunities to love and heal. - Learn why opposition escalates so quickly—and how people will unite across differences to protect power. - Grasp the “Messianic secret” idea (Jesus repeatedly limiting publicity) and how expectations about the Messiah shaped reactions. - Reflect on discernment: the danger of calling good evil (and evil good) when you’re spiritually misaligned. - Be encouraged that Jesus understands relational pressure: even family misunderstanding doesn’t derail Him. - Take away a defining principle: Obedience to the Father is the pathway to your most free, grounded self. - Leave with two heart-questions: Do I trust God’s timing? Am I living from obedience—or from approval? After years of battling off-and-on eczema that left her in physical pain and emotional exhaustion, Kat's body erupted in severe eczema just three weeks before her wedding. We're talking weeping wounds. Steroid injections. Oral steroids. Topicals on repeat. And that was just the beginning. What unfolded over the next several years included topical steroid withdrawal, toxic overload, leaky gut, postpartum depression, a NICU stay with twins at UCLA—and ultimately, a complete identity shift that changed everything. This conversation is about more than eczema. It's about the skin–gut–toxin connection. It's about stress, identity, and the nervous system. It's about what happens when you decide to heal—and cut off every other option. The best news - whether it's your skin or something else, healing.is.possible. In This Episode, We Cover: Heavy metals, phthalates, parabens—and how toxic burden shows up in your skin Leaky gut and why “everything” can suddenly become a trigger Why detox can initially make flares worse The missing piece in chronic healing: identity and mindset The hidden dangers of long-term topical steroid use What topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) actually looks like The beauty industry's blind spots—and what needs to change Practical skin barrier repair from the inside out How meditation rewires your biology (yes, really) Timestamps 00:00 – Meet Kat: severe eczema, beauty industry insider, and the wedding-week flare from hell 02:00 – Three types of steroids in three weeks (and why that mattered later) 03:30 – When the flares came back worse than before 05:00 – Discovering topical steroid withdrawal (TSW) and sleeping on towels 08:00 – The functional testing that changed everything: toxins, gut, inflammation 09:30 – Heavy metals, parabens, phthalates, mold—and why her practitioner was shocked 11:00 – Leaky gut, gluten markers, and the “everything is a trigger” phase 12:00 – Detox + TSW: when healing looks worse before it gets better 13:30 – Pregnancy, temporary glowing skin, and the devastating steroid shot before delivery 15:00 – NICU, postpartum depression, and the emotional toll of skin disease 18:30 – The surprising non-food trigger most people ignore: toxic burden 20:00 – Stress as gasoline on the inflammatory fire 21:30 – “You can't drain the bathtub if the faucet's still running.” 22:30 – Identity work: “I am someone who has eczema” vs. “I am someone who heals.” 26:00 – The meditations that changed her brain (inspired by Joe Dispenza and his books Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself and You Are the Placebo) 29:00 – The desperation loop that keeps people stuck 30:00 – Decide vs. choose: cutting off every other option 31:30 – Skin barrier repair explained simply (bricks + mortar analogy) 34:00 – Makeup, shame, leadership, and not feeling “enough” in the beauty industry 37:00 – Beauty, identity, and self-worth beyond appearance 39:00 – If you feel stuck, here's what you need to hear 41:00 – Turning pain into purpose 42:00 – Kat's upcoming clean beauty brand for chronic skin conditions Let's Talk Root Causes What struck me most in this conversation? It wasn't just the heavy metals or the leaky gut (although yes, those matter). It was this: You cannot heal in the same identity that created the illness. I've seen this over and over in clinical practice. We can remove inflammatory foods. We can support detox pathways. We can rebuild the gut lining. But if someone still believes, deep down, “This is just who I am”… the body listens. Kat didn't just detox her liver. She detoxed her identity. And that's where the shift happened. If You're Struggling with Chronic Condition Right Now… Here's your gentle but firm nudge: Get proper testing. Guessing is exhausting. Reduce inflammation first (you can't drain a bathtub with the faucet running). Support detox pathways before aggressive detox. Repair the gut lining. Regulate the nervous system daily. Decide that healing is happening—even if your eyes haven't caught up yet. Your body is not broken. It's communicating. And as someone who has walked countless women through chronic conditions, autoimmunity, skin flares—I can tell you: when we address toxins, gut integrity, stress, and identity together… things change. Connect with Kat Follow Kat's amazing journey and podcast: Instagram: @thewelldonepod Personal page: @iamkatvong Website: thewelldonepod.com Her upcoming clean beauty line is being formulated specifically for women who have felt invisible in the makeup aisle. And honestly? It's about time. If this episode resonated, send it to the friend who keeps saying, “It's just my hormones,” or “I guess I just have sensitive skin.” Sometimes it's not just sensitive skin. Sometimes it's your body asking for a new story. And that story? It can end very differently than it began.   ✨Join the conversation: Share your thoughts with us on social media or in the comments!

In this episode of Acta Non Verba, Marcus Aurelius Anderson sits down with virtuoso guitarist Angel Vivaldi to explore the intersection of artistry, authenticity, and perseverance. Angel shares insights from his recent tour with legendary guitarist Steve Morse, discusses his creative process behind concept albums like "Synapse," and reveals how he balances being 65% artist and 35% business. The conversation dives deep into topics ranging from working with difficult people and learning from enemies, to the role of AI in music, the importance of vulnerability, and why the only thing worse than living with regret is dying with it. This is a masterclass in commitment, creativity, and staying true to yourself in an industry that constantly demands compromise. Episode Highlights [2:14] Learning from Steve Morse's Humility and Reinvention - Angel describes touring with guitar legend Steve Morse and witnessing him reinvent his playing technique due to arthritis. Despite being one of the greatest guitarists alive, Morse remained humble enough to learn legato and tapping techniques from Angel, demonstrating that true mastery includes the willingness to continuously evolve. [20:59] The Muse and Discipline: Speaking Her Language - Angel shares his philosophy on creativity and the muse: "She has a lot of people to visit and she's gonna favor those who know how to speak her language. What is her language? Music." He explains why showing up consistently to practice—even without inspiration—is essential, because you're refining how you speak music so the muse can work through you. [39:44] The Synapse Album: Painting Studios and Neurotransmitters - Angel reveals the extreme creative process behind his concept album "Synapse," where each song represents a different neurotransmitter. He painted his studio a different color for each song (red for adrenaline, green for serotonin), changed scents, and even wrote at specific times of day to embody each neurochemical state—a process that nearly broke him but resulted in some of his most authentic work. [82:13] Learning from Your Enemies: Unfiltered Feedback - Angel offers a provocative perspective: "Your enemies have no stake in you liking them or them liking you. If you want unfiltered, uncensored, direct feedback on your flaws as a human being, look to your enemies." He explains how to parse criticism from adversaries to find genuine insights while filtering out projection and insecurity. Angel Vivaldi is an American virtuoso guitarist, songwriter, and producer who has been pushing the boundaries of instrumental guitar music since beginning his solo career in 2003. Self-taught from age 15, Angel has released multiple concept albums including "Universal Language," "Away With Words Parts 1 & 2," and "Synapse," each showcasing his unique blend of progressive metal, fusion, and melodic sensibility. Beyond his solo work, Angel is a multifaceted creative force—he's a cinematographer, fashion enthusiast, interior designer, and entrepreneur who founded Zenith Council, an artist services company helping musicians with branding, marketing, and creative vision. Recently, he toured as a guest guitarist with legendary Steve Morse, managing Morse's career while contributing rhythm guitar and content creation. Angel's approach to music and life embodies his belief that authenticity and vulnerability are the keys to creating art that truly resonates. After hitting a 120-pound "lowest point" at age 26 and facing emergency colon surgery, Dane Johnson explains how the failure of conventional medicine became the necessary curriculum for his transformation from a bedridden patient into a man on a mission. Alongside Dr. Crawford, he discusses the dangers of "Magic Protocol Syndrome" and the vital necessity of transitioning from a victim to the CEO of your own health. A key takeaway is that shifting your internal identity must occur before you can truly change your biology, as healing requires divorcing yourself from standard Western medical thinking to build a customized, evolving lifestyle. The conversation further explores the neurobiology of gratitude, emphasizing that you must "get happy before you get healthy" to move the body out of a sympathetic stress state. This shift allows the parasympathetic system to begin repairing the gut, a process Dane supports through his "SHIELD" acronym and the concept of "Food Philosophy," which involves assessing dietary risks in real-time. Ultimately, the episode reveals that the discipline required to heal a chronic illness is the exact same foundation needed for extraordinary success in life, proving that growth—whether in health or business—is a lifelong journey of seeking 1% improvements every day.ResourcesUnlimited Power by Tony RobbinsAwaken the Giant Within by Tony RobbinsBreaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe DispenzaSupergut by Dr. William DavisThe Maker's Diet by Jordan RubinBreaking the Vicious Cycle (SCD - Specific Carbohydrate Diet) by Elaine GottschallCCLifestyle Shield Program: https://crohnscolitislifestyle.mykajabi.com/shieldprogram?el=websiteProducts 528 Innovations Lasers NeuroSolution Full Spectrum CBD NeuroSolution Broad Spectrum CBD NeuroSolution Stimpod STEMREGEN® Learn MoreFor more information, resources, and podcast episodes, visit https://tinyurl.com/3ppwdfpm

In the spirit of celebrating my first Christmas as a Christian, this week is the perfect time to share a delightful conversation I had with Chris Legg. As both a licensed professional counselor and the lead pastor of a church, Chris has a rare combination of expertise he describes as being "a bit of a unicorn." Chris is also the founding owner and clinical director of Alethia Family Counseling Center, which now operates six locations across Texas with thirty therapists on staff. We explore the intersection of faith and psychology, discussing how secular therapy approaches to self-esteem fall short without a spiritual foundation. Chris challenges the contemporary affirmation-based therapy model, arguing that true humility comes from an accurate understanding of who we are in light of who God says we are. We discuss the persistent human tendency toward self-deception, examining why building identity solely on ourselves is fundamentally delusional—and what happens when we recognize ourselves as treasure through God's eyes instead. Our conversation ventures into controversial territory, including the relationship between Christianity and psychedelics, where Chris explains his measured "five out of ten" stance. He shares clinical examples of clients whose severe addictions were transformed through professional psychedelic-assisted treatment, while also emphasizing the need for Christian voices to remain engaged in this conversation rather than retreating into reflexive rejection. We discuss the theology of the Father, father wounds, and how childhood experiences shape our intuition of God. We examine prayer through the lens of the persistent widow and the friend at midnight, exploring what it means to approach God boldly as his children rather than with practiced piety. Chris shares insights on marriage, sacrifice, and how his son co-authored their book "Sex and Marriage" after witnessing the congruence between his father's theology and his treatment of his mother. Finally, we touch on near-death experiences, spiritual integration, and the beautiful, ongoing process of faith deconstruction and reconstruction that characterizes a lifetime of spiritual growth.Pastor Chris Legg, LPCs, and his wife Ginger have been living out the parable of God's love for His people since 1993 and have been blessed with five great kids. He is the Lead Pastor at South Spring Baptist Church in Tyler, TX and is also the founding owner and clinical director of Alethia Family Counseling Center, which offers training, counseling, speaking and business consulting in several locations in Texas. He and his son, Mark, are the authors of the book Sex and Marriage, which is intended to restore to marriages the power God intended. If you've ever struggled with advice you didn't want but maybe needed—or felt the clash between doing things “your way” versus “the right way for you”—you'll relate to this journey.I'm calling this approach Being Yourself the Smart Way, which means blending science & spirituality, working with professionals who care, & paying attention to your inner & outer dialogue. It's about remembering that there's no one-size-fits-all way to be yourself & live your best life. I'm creating this IHP podcast series playlist to share this journey with you. This isn't about tracking every meal or drink. It's a series of reflections on how I feel & think while doing something I don't necessarily want—or even believe I need—to do: following a diet recommended for my age (currently 45) & optimizing my health as I get older. As someone who mentors, creates content & hosts conversations about spiritual & personal growth, I see this as more than a diet plan. It's an exploration of what it means to Be Yourself the Smart Way. It's about balancing science & spirituality, left & right brain, ego & inner child. It's about recognizing there's no one-size-fits-all solution—something both smart individuals & caring, effective professionals understand.Being Yourself the Smart Way is about discovering what truly works for you. It's about freedom of choice & with the right support, aligning your well-being with your body, brain, mind, heart & self in harmony—each of us carrying a story worth sharing.Through these episodes, I'll share insights on why blending professional guidance with self-awareness matters for long-term mental, emotional, physical & spiritual health.Join me as we explore how science & spirituality together unlock authenticity, resilience & the best life for you—lived fully by being yourself.Thank you for tuning in!Love, MariaThe longer reflections for this series:This diary isn't a record of everything I eat or drink. It's a log of how I feel & think while doing something I don't particularly want to do—or believe I truly need to do. Yet, according to health professionals, it's considered ideal for my body & age.I remain skeptical & dislike being told how to manage my eating habits. The idea that this process could change my body—or give someone else “control” over my day-to-day life—bothers me. At the same time, this tension highlights my left & right brain, ego & inner child at play, creating resistance to something deemed good for me by science & society.Creating this podcast series motivates me to stay on track with my nutritionist's plan. In sharing it with you, I hope it also helps you notice how self-awareness—& Being Yourself the Smart Way—blends science with spirituality, supported by a society that truly cares about your health, not forcing you into their "perfect" model. These episodes offer insights into what it means to Be Yourself the Smart Way: recognizing why self-awareness matters, valuing skilled professionals for holistic well-being & seeing how blending science & spirituality nurtures long-term mental, emotional & physical health.Science & spirituality open the path to authenticity, resilience, well-being & living your best life.Being yourself doesn't mean stubbornly doing things your way or assuming you're always right. It means doing what is truly right for you. A healthy society encourages this, guiding us toward what serves our well-being.True intelligence is holistic: mental, emotional, physical & spiritual alignment. It means rising above dysfunctional patterns & ego distortions, letting left & right brain work together, noticing your inner & outer dialogue & recognizing there's no one-size-fits-all formula—only the smart way, tailored to you. With the right professionals & community, you can reach your highest potential.Good professionals—scientific or spiritual—know this. They don't impose personal preferences as truth. They focus on what works.Love, Maria
