Today we discuss putting your message under your performance, allowing it to have a bigger impact. We continue discussing the inspiring journey of the powerhouse that is Andy Frasco.Quote:“Throw as much SH*T at the wall as you can, one thing is going to stick, I swear ” - FrascoLittle Kids Rock transforms lives by restoring, expanding, and innovating music education in schools across the U.S. Since 2002, they have given more than 650,000 under-served schoolchildren across the country access to fun, engaging music classes and brand new instruments at no cost to the students, teachers, or school districts. Little Kids Rock trains public school teachers and donates all of the instruments, curricular resources, and support they need to ensure that their kids receive the right to rock!We discuss Colorado resident Andy Frasco's rise to success, what that really means, and the true value of it all. He has such a powerful story and more drive than anyone in this business. But just as treasure is often found buried in the dirt, nuggets and gems can be found in a dirty mouth. Emotional intelligence is more and more important, especially in parenting, especially in today's day and age. EI, or EQ, for short, or SEL, social emotional learning, means: the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathise with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict. It's critical to teach our kids to develop their EQ…BUT it's tricky because chances are we were never taught how to manage our own! GOOD NEWS, it's NEVER too late to grow and develop it. In fact, having kids provides a great opportunity to both learn and teach emotional intelligence. My guest, Nadine Levitt, is an expert in teaching how to understand your child's emotions and your own. The result is kids who feel safe, heard, supported and trust their parents. When your child feels this way, not only are they able to manage their emotions, you have a better relationship with them and parenting has less friction. In this episode we talk about: emotions, how we break it down for kids so that it is both simple and empowering. How emotions come and we can't control them How to look at what our emotions are telling us Emotions come to us in clusters, how can we direct them? As parents, we can either be influenced by our kids' emotions OR we can be an influence so when your child has big feelings, accept that emotions are here and notice (without judgement) what you are saying to yourself about them. Creating strategies - identify, acknowledge and redirect the better I understand my emotions For the ultimate emotional toolkit, download it from the Parent Toolbox www.parent-toolbox.com About Nadine Levitt Nadine Levitt is the Founder and CEO of WURRLYedu and the author of the My Mama Says SEL program! PDReimagined.com Mary Ellen Imodino-Yang TEDX Talk Value Care package. Each month has a theme. Work in groups to come up with strategies to come up in daily life. Do things in 2–3 minutes or less. How do you get up when you don't know where the ground is? The power of curiosity. It's not an end destination, it's a journey. Music to move you. The power of music in SEL situations. We shouldn't teach music to be a musician. Physiological - music is one of the only things that can really get into our brains. Music can interrupt other emotional cycles. People are more inclined to buy expensive items when the store is playing classical music. How to rekindle their passion? Time scarcity - brought on by an emotional response that you're feeling overwhelm. Interrupt overwhelm - do something different Free to teachers, cost to districts. The more you apply these skills the easier it is to avoid and manage overwhelm. Emotions are just messages We are engineered to see patterns. Thoughts are just patterns. Often our thoughts are not based in patterns. When you become aware you're telling yourself a story, just tell yourself. Respond rather than react. Communication cards Need to speak freely: challenged and rewarded. When we share, we don't feel shame. The need for people to take responsibility for their part. Leadership - formal and informal leadership opportunities. Leadership is having control over the outcome. Controlling your own identity. Jesse is one of the most influential and enduring singer-songwriters - who first made history with the Youngbloods on their classic ‘60s peace anthem “Get Together”. He will be promoting the release of his forthcoming album "HIGHWAY TROUBADOUR" (Street Date: Nov. 27th / BMG) - a solo re-imagining of his most timeless songs. When COVID-19 ground the world to a halt in 2020, Young launched a new series called "One Song at a Time" — a series of videos that found him performing songs from across his entire career, while accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. The series became a success on platforms like YouTube and Facebook, and earned him an “In My Room” session with Rolling Stone, as well as a featured performance on CNN's - The Fourth In America” alongside students from Little Kids Rock. Collectively, the resulting success led Jesse to go back into the studio and record his newest album, "Highway Troubadour". Recorded with just two AEA A440 ribbon microphones to capture warmth – one for his voice, and one for his guitar – Highway Troubadour features newly-recorded solo performances of songs from Jesse Colin Young's entire catalog, including a revised take on the Youngbloods' “Sugar Babe” and an intimate version of “Cast a Stone” from his critically-acclaimed 2019 release, "Dreamers".

A song subdues and soothes even the roughest seas. After sixteen years, eight albums, and hundreds of shows, Joshua Radin still treats music as an antidote to any ailment. The gold-selling, Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter finds healing in between waves of acoustic eloquence and dyed-in-the-wool Americana storytelling. On his ninth full-length TheGhost And The Wall [Nettwerk], the troubadour continues a cycle of catharsis meant to be shared among any and all receptive hearts.Since 2004, he's affected countless listeners with palpable transparency. As a result, he's sold over 1 million records, generated 1 billion-plus total streams, and garnered a gold plaque for the single “I'd Rather Be With You.” Landing north of 150 film, television, and commercial syncs, his voice courses throughout the zeitgeist. Among many highlights, First Ladies Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden personally handpicked “Brand New Day” for a commercial in support of the troops. In addition to memorable performances on Ellen, The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Conan, and Today Show, he famously serenaded avowed super fan Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi during their wedding. Beyond sold out headline shows on four continents, he has also performed alongside Ed Sheeran, Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, Sheryl Crow, Tori Amos, Imogen Heap, and The Script. Plus, he remains a committed philanthropist, supporting charities such as Little Kids Rock and North Shore Animal League America (NSALA), among others. After returning home from a European Tour in support of his 2019 album Here, Right Now, Joshua initially planned to hunker down, write, and record a new album. Nevertheless, the circumstances of the Global Pandemic complicated the plan…That's where producer Jonathan Wilson [Father John Misty, Conor Oberst, Dawes] comes in. One 30-minute phone conversation later, Joshua and Jonathan set about making The Ghost And The Wall remotely. Despite both being in Southern California, they opted to transfer files back and forth, crafting the entire record through the wire. Jonathan laid down the instrumentation in Topanga Canyon, and Josh cut vocals in the Hollywood Hills. Within a month, they had completed ten tracks. He paves the way for the album with the single “Better Life.” Over understated acoustic guitar, lilting vocals detail the journey of “an immigrant coming to this country and seeing the Statue of Liberty for the first time.” Folk-style picking and hushed delivery relay the anxiety of the search for “the one” on “Make It Easy.”Then, there's “Fewer Ghosts.” A personal favorite, Joshua comes to an eye-opening realization cemented in confessional lyrics and soft tones. In the end, Joshua finds a way to heal once again on The Ghost And The Wall.We want to hear from you! For an hour + I forgot there's a pandemic and that I haven't heard live music in 5 months. Liberty Devitto filled the air and my heart with rock 'n roll. One of the greatest drummers of all time, Billy Joel's, Liberty Devitto, now bestselling author of LIBERTY, Life, Billy & the Pursuit of Happiness (https://amzn.to/2CP8qrg ) sat down and banged it out with me. We talked Billy, of course, the reconicliation, the angry years, the beginning, 30 yrs of crazy fun and brilliant creativity, to growing up and cooling down. We talked his whacky, wild, family of origin, his beautiful successful daughters, and his baby, at 3, a Beatles aficionado ... Vanilla Fudge, touring with Mitch Ryder as a teen, arenas, stadiums, Steve Winwood, The Lords of 52nd Street, Richie Cannata, Russell Javors, NYC Hit Squad and Clean Getaway with Ricky Byrd, Little Kids Rock, writing a bestseller and now playing Drive-ins, the new not normal concert venues. Affable, entertaining, warm and real, I love this man, and can't wait to see him and hear him play again. Mitch Slater is a musician, he's been a radio producer, he's a financial advisor, and the biggest Springsteen fan I know. I first encountered Mitch several years ago, and immediately saw he was one in a million. He doesn't push anything on social media, except for Springsteen. He's sharing his passions, engaging in conversations, and is there to offer encouragement and a smart word. Make no mistake: He is GREAT at what he does! He is one of Gary Vaynerchuk's financial go to people, and he's always trying to push the financial industry forward into new realms, by being a genuine marketer who kicks butt as his job and embraces the SOCIAL part of social media. Special treat: Live performance from Mitch Slater Mitch performed a song for us, so I'm also including the video of his performance. I hope the recording makes you smile as much as it made me smile when he performed for me live. Here's the video version of this conversation: https://youtu.be/Go88ZD0vcCE About Mitch Slater Mitch has been in the financial services business for over 25 years. With his considerable experience, Mitch is frequently asked to speak about personal finance issues and has appeared on CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, Fox, News 12 NJ. He also is a long-time advocate of financial literacy in the classroom to help promote smarter fiscal responsibility at an earlier age. His mission is to connect young adults with peers and professionals to get smarter and better when dealing with money. Mitch recently served with dignity for six years on the Westfield Board of Education in Westfield, New Jersey and just completed his tenure on The New York Advisory Board for Little Kids Rock, a non-profit that's putting music back into schools. You don't have to like music, drummers, or Billy Joel, to love Liberty DeVitto. Who the fuck doesn't love music, drummers, and Billy Joel? In addition to his work with Billy, Liberty's also been an active session and touring musician working with Carly Simon, Phoebe Snow, Karen Carpenter, Stevie Nicks, Rick Wakeman, Bob James, The Beach Boys, and Meat Loaf, to name but a few. Although music education is something that is very important to many young people, due to budget cuts, it is one of the first programs to be cut. In this day and age, the competition is tough as well as the demands on the performers. The music industry is also very cutthroat. So, it is imperative that anyone who wants a career as a professional musician must have a very well-rounded understanding of how the industry works as well as how to avoid falling into the abyss. Little Kids Rock is a non-profit organization which was founded to help kids learn the music industry by interacting with world-renowned musicians. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to the legendary rock ‘n' roll drummer, Liberty Devitto (known for his tenure with Billy Joel) about his inspirational work with an organization called Little Kids Rock, which has changed the lives of nearly 250,000 children! Grammy® winning composer, Laura Sullivan, called out to the world to join her in a powerful plan to make a music video. Her request was simple. Take a video of yourself singing her song We Are Love and send it to her. The response was overwhelming. 900 Voices, promises to make you smile, and maybe even cry. 938 people, 27 languages, 1 song. People from Australia, Brazil, Israel, Croatia, Korea, Kenya, India, and many other countries, participated by making videos on their cell phones and sending them to Laura and will make you so happy. Elena from Bulgaria, still in her hospital gown, sings and sweetly kisses her newborn son. A group of children in Uganda, who were once homeless, sing and dance like they are the richest kids in the world. A fire department of tough guys from New Jersey gives it their all. The result: EPIC. 27 languages included in one song and video about love and unity. The video was released on April 9, 2014. It received over 50,000 views, and was accepted on the Ellen DeGeneres online Tube channel the first week of its release. “I was hoping to get a lot of participation, but what I received back was beyond my wildest dreams. People from all over the world and from every walk of life sent in incredible videos. Watching them moved me to tears. I hope I have honored these hundreds of wonderful people by including them in the video.” says Laura. BeachGlow is going to grace the beaches of Atlantic City on June 27th. This has been a long year since last year’s event. First, they announced the comeback of the event. Emily, a Toronto native, was first introduced to yoga in New York City where she was studying theater and the art of becoming an anxiety-ridden insomniac! At the time, the thought of Yoga meant slowing down, which meant terrifying and seemed better suited for “hippies” and “tea people”, not she! But after accidentally stumbling into her first class, she was shocked to discover that this “slowing down” was not only the most challenging sweaty work-out she’d ever had, but for the first time in ages, she felt calm. Excited and inspired to learn more, she began her study and practice of Yoga. Emily completed one of Moksha Yoga’s first 800-hour teacher trainings in Thailand where she was lucky enough to study with Susi Hately Aldous, Ted Grand and Jessica Robertson, Frank Boccio, and more. It was on this trip that Emily, Deena and Jess planted the seed of a distant dream to one day open Moksha Yoga LA… Cut to: Years later. Emily now lives in LA, teaches Yoga privately all over LA, is the creator of Yoga Theater for Kids (which she taught in schools, and foster youth programs throughout Los Angeles), has just finished performing her LA debut of her One-woman show…when Deena said something like “Ok, so are you ready to open up Moksha Yoga LA yet now, or what??”, to which she said yes and the rest is history. Emily is grateful to her teachers both present and past such as Annie Carpenter, Kia Miller, Bryan Kest, Gurmukh, Liz Olesky, Jasmine Lieb, the Robertson Family tree, her wonderful meditation mentors, Jeanne Pisano and Ken McLeod and to her students, the greatest teachers of all. Emily also has a passion for philanthropic work. Within the first two years of being open, Moksha Yoga LA raised over $160,000 for charities around the world. Founder of Sweat for Change has raised $115,000 for Little Kids Rock
