[School of Everything Else 2025] A marvellously authentic and creepy modern Survival Horror in the convincing style of a PlayStation One title from the mid-90s conversely featuring inflections of more contemporary scary games. This one is available on Steam and Switch and PS4 and Xbox Series X. There is an abandoned theme park to explore and mysteries to uncover, as we structure this episode into three sections. GREEN FINE: Means you can hear about the basic setup and still go in completely fresh if you want to know none of the surprises. YELLOW CAUTION: Makes up the majority of the show as we discuss how it goes about itself and what the experience is like. RED DANGER: Is all the juicy endgame material, where we get to fully draw back the curtain. This was a commissioned show from Maya Santandrea and Selfproclaimed, and we are so glad they chose to set it before us. You will be too.

It's back to the good old PlayStation One days with reviews of Tomb Raider I-III Remastered: Starring Lara Croft (Aspyr) and PSX horror Incident at Grove Lake (ToothandClaw). Then there's thoughts on Accomplices (Hachette), the PlayStation Portal (Sony), and Cards vs Gravity (Big Potato Games). In this episode, artist and world-builder Danielle Braithwaite-Shirley takes us on a journey - literally with a collective train ride - to a utopian dream space inspired by the aesthetics of a Playstation One game. On the soundtrack is Arthur Russell and on the menu, Danielle is serving up plenty of Caribbean flavours. As an artist, Danielle's work seeks to archive Black trans experiences, using technology to imagine environments that centre their bodies. These often come in the form of video games - letting the audience become immersed in Danielle's worlds, asking them to reflect on their own identities. For Factory International, Danielle has created I CAN'T FOLLOW YOU ANYMORE - a browser-based video game that explores the idea of a Black Trans revolution. In the glitchy style of a 90's PlayStation One horror game, the player must dance or fight to convert others to their ideology whilst facing positions which challenge their own. Hosted on Acast. Final Fantasy VII enthusiast Gareth Waugh, largely considered the Cloud Strife of the Scottish comedy circuit, joins Liam and Christopher on this episode of Enjoy An Album to talk about the original soundtrack to the 1997 Japanese role-playing game FINAL FANTASY VII by groundbreaking video game composer Nobuo Uematsu. Described by Nobuo as “his greatest harvest” in terms of creativity, this soundtrack changed video game music forever with its blend of Stravinsky and Hendrix on the climactic showdown “One Winged Angel”. Featuring hot takes and digressions on everything from eco-terrorism, Sea Power's soundtrack to Disco Elysium and a true crime segment delving into the teenage crimes of Liam's younger brother with regards to a neighbour's copy of Final Fantasy VII for the Playstation One. Mashing up elements of riot grrl punk, Bananarama plastic pop and outright eurosceptic Thatcherism, Spice Girls outsold the Beatles and swerved Britain's charts away from the Blurs, Oasises and Pulps into a future of Little Mix and Fifth Harmony. Spiceworld was the Spice Girls' second album, but shared a title with the 1997 film co-starring Richard E. Grant and Meat Loaf alongside the Fab Five, as well as the 1998 Playstation One game where up to 15 mixes, dance routines and TV studio recordings can be saved on one memory card. Liam and Christopher have listened to it, and now they're going to talk about it. Featuring hot takes and cool comments on Spiceworld's greatest moments, as well as regular features such as Tattoo Woohoo/Tattoo Boohoo, Secret Posho and Unhinged YouTube Comment of the Week. Enjoy!
Gastonia native, platinum recording artist, and new daddy, Producer20 comes on the show. How do you go from watching your brother sell beats off a Playstation One to "hip hopping" the globe with DaBaby, spearheading a musical movement based right here in the Queen City? Our good friend, comedian, Don Garrett cohosts, and as always, fits the show like a glove. Oh yeah, enjoy the music.

In honour of Crash 4's release, Mike and Neil take a trip down memory lane for the 20th episode of the GameCube Was Cool with Crash Bandicoot games. Guests Andy Goddard and Jess Gicala talk about their memories of the original Crash trilogy as well as party games like Crash Bash and the iconic Crash Team Racing. To finish off the episode are Crash Nitro Kart, Crash Tag Team Racing, and Wrath of Cortex which Neil reads the back of the case at 52:56.

We've waited long enough. It's time to talk about the iconic Metal Gear Solid. We covered the sequel back on episode 73, and the last 6 months people have been asking me "when are you covering the original?" Well, here it is. Yes, it's a better game, and yes, we probably should have covered it first, and yes it's awesome and yes we waited too long and, well, you get it. Bradley McCue of The Movie Epidemic Podcast and I broke down the original Metal Gear Solid this week. And when I say we broke it down, I mean it. We cover the whole game, talk plot details, bosses, surprises, game mechanics. If you haven't played this game and still want to someday, maybe skip the second part of the show this week, because SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS! On the other hand, if that's why you're here, skip to 11:20. And before we get into the Playstation One gem that is MGS, I touch on a couple things. We're getting a new Paper Mario, and that's awesome! I think we're gonna get a smorgasbord of game announcements this Summer, and I can't wait. And speaking of this Summer, there are awesome games coming out every month from June - September! Who needs to go outside anyway?? And speaking of awesome, we're giving away a Nintendo Switch Lite! June 10th will be our 100th episode, and as a thank you for all the support, we're giving one listener a brand new Nintendo Switch Lite. And it's FREE TO ENTER!! Listen to this week's intro for details, and send your answer to the trivia question (along with your name) to: Memberthegame@gmail.com Deadline is June 8th! And one entry per person, please. Don't be a douche. Good luck and enjoy the podcast!

This week on It's So Bad, we celebrate the addition of our 50th game on the Endless List with what is considered to be one of the best games of all time in Metal Gear Solid. The 1998 PlayStation One game reinvented the stealth action genre with an over the top storyline heavily influenced by western action movies, anime and so much more. We discuss it's importance to gaming, how it holds up today, it's ports and so much more. Where did it fall on the Endless List? You can find out on our Medium page (linked here).
Andrew & Alex revisit the cultural impact of the original PlayStation – through its brief life as a Nintendo prototype, its cutting-edge product design, and the childhood memories it fostered.
