We just completed our first year in Spain, a year full of changes, and have noticed many similarities we share with the Israelites when they were traveling into the Promised Land: They were prone to fear instead of faith; they were self-centered and unthankful; they struggled to trust God with all the changes in their lives. And we are the same! Listen in as we confess some sin and struggles during our last year of transition, and rejoice in Jesus, who never sinned and died for our sin, and empowers us to live in a way that honors Him. 

Blue Oyster Cult translated their fan favorite live act into platinum with the 1975 live album On Your Feet Or On Your Knees. It not only gave the guys confidence going into recording Agents of Fortune but it gave each of them the funds to buy synthesizers that would allow all of them to write songs individually and bring more polished songs into the studio. The result was an eclectic mix of styles - hard rock riffs (This Ain't The Summer of Love), 50s piano laments (True Confessions), lilting confessionals (Debbie Denise) and an eternal hard rock anthem in (Don't Fear) The Reaper. Reaper would sell more than 6 million copies as a single and help propel Agents of Fortune to platinum. But it also gave them the financial leverage to upgrade their stage show as now they were headliners. Thanks to Reaper, their patented laser (which Buck admitted they should have leased and not bought) would make it's debut and receive warnings from the government about injuring fans eyes at concerts. It was a total gamechanger which allows them to continue to tour the world to this day. It was a song that made you wonder "If they can write that one, there must be more like it on the album, right?" But Reaper was the only song Buck Dharma (aka Donald Roeser) sang lead on and his only co-write. It's the only album in the catalog to feature all 5 original members a shot at lead vocals and all of them have writing credits. The different styles vary from hard rock to campy to spooky to corny and tackle varied subjects from death and eternal love to extra terrestrials and vampires. There's a lot to explore here thanks to the different styles and vocals which we appreciate so much more now than when we did as teens disappointed there wasn't another (Don't Fear) The Reaper. Agents of Fortune is still Blue Oyster Cult's top selling album to date, thanks largely to Reaper. But there's some wacky and cool stuff on this record that's worth diving into as the album celebrates its 50th. Hollywood is not known for being friendly to Christianity in general or Catholicism in particular, especially nowadays; unfortunately, there is no shortage of storylines and characters that mock and even demonize believers. At the same time, however, whenever the film industry wishes to depict a "religious looking" scene or add a transcendent element to the plot, it frequently employs Catholic architecture, Catholic sacramentals, and even Catholic priests to do so. What should we make of this ambivalence to the faith? What does Hollywood get wrong, and what, perhaps to our surprise, does Hollywood get right about Catholicism and the priesthood? As heavy as the story that produces this penitential psalm of David is, there is a beautiful lesson of true freedom in Christ that comes through faithful confession. Without God graciously revealing David's sin by Nathan, he would have remained trapped in condemnation. Daniel - Week 1Daniel 9:1-11There was a woman who needed help on her health journey. She had tried to do all the “right” things but was frustrated in her lack of progress. Seeing ads for a well-known weight loss app, she decided to give it a try. After downloading the app, she worked her way through all the questions; she finally finished and was ready to see their predicted date when she would reach her ideal weight: “You will reach your goal in two days.” Excitement was quickly replaced with confusion. How was that possible…?What she failed to realize was that she hadn't entered her data accurately. She didn't acknowledge the reality of her situation and thought she was better off than she was. Because of that, she couldn't get the help she needed.When we go to God in prayer, are we coming in confident of our good efforts and ready to meet our goals? Or are we humbly admitting that we fall short every time and need the Holy Spirit to help us? We will begin a new series on prayer tomorrow morning where we'll learn how important it is to have a reality check first.

Keith and Shane talk about Carol Dodge, the relentless and unlikely ally who fought to prove Tapp's innocence and find her daughter's real killer. Keith also shares a podcast-exclusive clip from his last interview with Christopher Tapp and answers viewer and listener questions.

Idaho resident Christopher Tapp is sentenced to life after falsely confessing to the murder of his friend Angie Dodge. When the real killer is caught over 20 years later, the case appears to finally be closed until a chilling twist begins a new chapter in the decades-long saga. Keith Morrison reports.
