This is the Catch Up on 3 things and I am Ichha SharmaIt's the 9th of august and here are this week's headlines. After months of mass upheaval and the consequent exit of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh got its new leader in Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus on Thursday as he took oath as the chief adviser of the country's interim government. President Mohammad Shahabuddin administered the oath to Yunus and 13 additional advisers. The protests, primarily led by student groups, were triggered by a violent crackdown on demonstrations advocating for reforms in the public service quota system, resulting in over 400 deaths in recent weeks. With the Opposition vehemently opposing The Waqf (Amendment) Bill and its allies wary about the widespread changes proposed by it, the government on Thursday sent the legislation to a Joint Committee of Parliament. Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju's introduction of the Bill was met with noisy protests, with Opposition MPs calling it “an attack on the Indian Constitution, the religious freedom it guarantees, and a violation of the federal structure”. The joint committee will be constituted by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and include members from both the Houses of Parliament and across parties. After a gut-wrenching day of defeats and heartbreaks with Vinesh Phogat announcing her retirement, a day after her disqualification in the wrestling final, due to being overweight by 100 gms and wrestler Antim Panghal's deportation due to the accusation of ‘smuggling' her sister inside the Athelete's village, the Indian contingent was given a reason to cheer after the Indian hockey team won a bronze medal by beating Spain. This is the Indian contingent's fourth medal, all of which have been bronze. It was captain Harmanpreet Singh who scored two goals after India was down one zero at one stage. For the past few days, the United Kingdom has witnessed widespread unrest and violence triggered by a stabbing incident in Southport on the 29th of July. So far, over 400 people have been arrested, 140 people charged, and three given jail sentences as anti-immigrant riots broke out in several regions, including north London, Bristol, and Newcastle, reportedly fuelled by misinformation and far-right activism. The Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee has kept the Repo rate steady at 6.5 per cent for the ninth time in a row as sticky food inflation continues to remain a threat to retail inflation. The rate-setting panel also left the monetary policy stance unchanged at ‘withdrawal of accommodation' in the meeting on Thursday. As a consequence of the MPC's decision, banks are expected to keep interest rates unchanged. The RBI also kept the gross domestic product growth projection for the financial year 2025 unchanged at 7.2 per cent and the retail inflation forecast at 4.5 per cent despite the sticky food inflation. This was the Catch up on 3 things

It was there that Kelly found her calling as a climbing guide. In 2011 Kelly founded Athena Rock Climbing (as Chicks With Nuts), a series of women's only climbing events designed to help women advance their skills together on the rock. Kelly traveled cross country to complete her continuing education through the Professional Climbing Guide Institute in the winter of 2015 in Joshua Tree. After spending the week in Joshua Tree, Kelly decided on a seasonal migration to the desert to fulfill her dream of guiding year round. ⁣ Kelly now lives the dream guiding for half the year on the east coast and the other half for us in Joshua Tree. She is always seeking to advance in the field, and became the first female guide to attain the Multi Pitch Guide certification through the PCGI in 2019. “She doesn't even look like an athlete”. “There's nothing to her. How can she even tackle anyone?” “She must have been hitting the gym lately”. These are the comments we've all heard at some point - whether directed at us directly or our teammates. Unfortunately, we have developed an ideology of what a female footballer should look like. Skinny and attractive but not too skinny. Strong and athletic but not too bulky. Who cares! What should really matter is what you perform like on the pitch. How many runs in behind you can make. How many 1-vs-1 duels you win and how many headers you score based on your aerial dominance. In this episode we will be discussing the topic of body composition in sport. We will be looking at how body composition can be used to support performance improvements and how the lack of understanding and knowledge in this area can lead to a downward spiral of the everlasting desire to be skinny and to fit the “golden standard”.

In 2001, Cam was diagnosed with primary lymphedema that has affected his right leg since he was 11-years old. Despite several bouts of infection and over 17 surgical procedures, Cam continues to fight through the daily challenges that this disease presents even with his recent above-knee-amputation. He was put in the public spotlight in 2019 as a contestant on ABC's The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise. Tufts Medical Center in Boston just called with my latest MRI results: There are two new masses on the right side of my brain the size of peas (about 8mm in size from residual growth), where the surgery was done. My options are to follow it and see if it changes in growth, MRI no sooner than six months, Gamma Knife radiosurgery or full-on open cranial surgery. Haha, yay."The message arrives in text form from Josh Perry, a 27-year-old professional BMX rider about to enter the 2017 competition season. A week before, we had spoke on the phone for an hour about his life as a professional BMX rider currently living and training in Cary, North Carolina, and how he was aiming to push himself into a larger role as an advocate for nutritional health and positive thinking, working with brands outside of BMX to help expose larger audiences to the passion that he's devoted his life to.A week later, the above message arrives. Ordinarily, the news has the potential to derail an entire day or year, let alone positive ambitions for the future. But Perry isn't like anyone I've ever met before. On top of all of the common injuries that accompany the life of a pro BMXer, this isn't Perry's first experience with masses in his brain. In fact, this is his third time.Perry quickly follows up with another text message: "Just rode a morning session and rode just as well as I've been riding. Nothing has changed if I don't allow it to." This from a guy who has already had his skull cut open to remove a large tumor, while doctors stopped the flow of blood to his brain through an artery in his groin."If I didn't hit my head riding, I'd be dead."Perry's history with brain tumors began in March of 2010.Perry was attempting to learn a new BMX Park trick on a quarterpipe when he over-rotated and landed off the bike, crashing down on his shoulder and head. Although he was wearing a helmet, Perry decided to undergo an MRI because of the fear of traumatic brain injury. But this wasn't Perry's first bout with injury as a BMX professional. There were lingering, unanswered issues in his recent medical history. Throughout that past year, he had been experiencing periods of intense headaches coupled with bouts of temporary blindness. After repeated doctor visits and an attempt by doctors to get Perry on pain killers, nothing had been diagnosed.Essentially, it took a BMX crash (the exact outcome Perry aimed to avoid) to get him to undergo a brain scan, and discover the source of his symptoms. But the outcome of the examination was not anything that he had expected. "I wanted to get an MRI to make sure my brain wasn't swelling and the doctors told me 'Yeah, you have a large mass that shouldn't be in your brain and it's a tumor, and we're not sure it's cancerous or benign but it needs to come out.'"Please do NOT hesitate to reach out to me on LinkedIn, Instagram, or via email mark@vudream.comLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-metry/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/markmetry/Twitter - https://twitter.com/markymetryMedium - https://medium.com/@markymetryFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/Humans.2.0.PodcastMark Metry - https://www.markmetry.com/Humans 2.0 Twitter - https://twitter.com/Humans2Podcast
