The Power of Values in Determining FulfilmentValues are the guiding principles that shape our identity and influence our decisions, behaviours, and relationships. Heather Masters delves into the importance of understanding our values and how they act as a compass in navigating life's challenges. By reflecting on personal experiences and identifying core values, we can align our goals with what truly matters to us, leading to greater fulfilment and motivation. The episode explores practical steps for uncovering values, including the impact of context and how values can shift over time. Heather emphasises that recognising and resolving values conflicts is crucial for fostering meaningful connections and navigating the complexities of our rapidly changing world. The Details:Heather Masters offers a profound examination of values and their significance in our lives. Values are portrayed as the foundation of our identity, deeply influencing how we perceive the world and interact with those around us. The episode presents a compelling argument for the necessity of identifying and understanding one's values, suggesting that they serve as crucial navigational tools in both personal and professional realms. Heather articulates several methodologies for uncovering core values, encouraging listeners to reflect on their life experiences and the motivations driving their actions. Values Levels and Spiral DynamicsThe discussion extends beyond the individual, exploring how values shape community dynamics and can lead to conflicts when differing belief systems collide. Heather introduces concepts from Dr. Clare Graves' research on values systems, illustrating how these frameworks can help us understand societal behaviours and conflicts. The episode culminates in an empowering call to action, urging listeners to engage in a values elicitation process to uncover their guiding principles. By aligning actions with their core values, individuals can not only enhance their personal happiness but also contribute to a more harmonious society. This insightful reflection on values provides a roadmap for self-discovery and deeper interpersonal relationships.Takeaways: Understanding your values is crucial as they act as a compass for navigating life's challenges. Values influence our decisions and motivations, shaping how we interact with the world. Identifying core values can reveal why certain goals may feel unattainable or in conflict. Recognising the hierarchy of values helps us understand our behaviours and motivations better. Values operate at both conscious and unconscious levels, impacting our decision-making processes. Engaging with our values can enhance our happiness by aligning our actions with what truly matters. “Turquoise is looking for how do we bring back the village? How do we live in community again? Why are we living in these separate houses? We're not sharing resources. Everyone on the street has a snowblower, a lawnmower, you know, like the design isn't elegant, it's not an elegant design. And so I think the mind of yellow joins into turquoise and as it has studied systems, it contributes to that and we are looking for more holistic, elegant solutions to give birth to a new culture. It's like we can no longer continue down the path. And at turquoise, we are going to have to sacrifice for the whole.” For those of you who follow me on Instagram or read my newsletter on Substack, you'll know that I've been quite obsessed with Spiral Dynamics of late, and see it as one way to explain our current cultural and political dilemmas, along with so much of our internalized anxiety. It was first developed by the late professor Clare Graves, who was a contemporary and colleague of Abraham Maslow, and then advanced by professor Don Beck, who worked on post-Apartheid South Africa with Nelson Mandela and F.W. de Klerk, and then further pushed by integral philosopher Ken Wilber. Spiral Dynamics can be heady stuff, and so I was thrilled when Nicole Churchill, a wonderfully grounded therapist and expert in Spiral Dynamics, offered to talk through the system with me for the podcast. Nicole and her husband John Churchill, who has also been a guest on Pulling the Thread, studied with Ken Wilber, and both apply it in their therapy work with both individuals and organizations. If you all end up loving Spiral Dynamics as much as I do, Nicole has offered to come back and explore how she uses it in therapy—please pass this episode on to any friends who you think might enjoy. I'm convinced that there are some keys here that can help us see the world and ourselves more clearly. In the show notes, you'll find ways to go deeper as well.

Her personal struggle with the unknown has carried her through the twists, turns and glimpses of mysterious realities. Until now she has concealed her knowledge because certain powers threatened to stand in her way. The power of disinformation and ridicule runs deep in its mission to enforce pervasive ignorance and limit access to secret knowledge. Not only has she explored her own paranormal experiences, but she also talked to thousands of UFO contact experiencers, worked on three major studies with them, and became an advocate for these greatly ridiculed people. Her journey took her deep into archival research and experimentation. She gained access to files that reveal remarkable evidence of the governments' secret interest in communicating with our non-human visitors. Most fascinating, she and a team of researchers carried out a multi-year communication experiment in search of answers to their many questions on why extraterrestrials are visiting our planet, how long they have been here, and why they have been coveting Forbidden Knowledge. You'll find the answers inside this fascinating book.BioKathleen Marden is a researcher, author, on camera expert, conference presenter, experiencer advocate, hypnosis practitioner and support group facilitator. She is known as one of the leading UFO contact researchers of our time. Since 1990, she has researched the perplexing nature of UFOs and the non-human entities associated with highly advanced aerial vehicles via her own groundbreaking research, investigation, and experimentation. Her research has extended to archival collections and the US government's involvement in the investigation of UFOs and its major studies. This has combined to give her a depth of knowledge that few possess. She is the 2013 recipient of MUFON's "Researcher of the Year" award and the 2021 recipient of the International UFO Congress "Lifetime Achievement Award".She earned a B.A. degree in social work and was employed as an educator and education services coordinator while attending graduate school. She is a certified practitioner of regression hypnosis and the Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique. She has worked on three social research studies, on experiencers of ET contact, two with Ph.D. social scientists. Additionally, she offers the Awakening Souls support group for experiencers who feel an intense calling to be part of the answer and to assist others who are beginning to awaken to their relationship with Non-human intelligence. Her interest in UFOs and contact began in 1961, when her aunt and uncle, Betty and Barney Hill had a close encounter and subsequent abduction in New Hampshire's White Mountains. She spent fifteen years in painstaking investigation of the Hill abduction case and continues to seek the scientific analysis of the compelling evidence. Her bestseller with nuclear physicist Stanton T. Friedman (1934-2019) is “Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience”. She and Stanton worked together for nearly 14 years and collaborated on two additional books “Science Was Wrong” and “Fact, Fiction, and Flying Saucers”. Her book with Denise Stoner “The Alien Abduction Files” includes her investigation of six intergenerational cases of abduction/contact. Her fifth book “Extra Terrestrial Contact: What to Do When You've Been Abducted” is a comprehensive guide to contact for Experiencers, those who love them, professionals who work with Experiencers, and the interested public. Read her latest book “Forbidden Knowledge: A Personal Journey from Alien Abduction to Spiritual Transformation” for deeper insight into Kathleen's own life and works. Franciscan Spirituality Center920 Market StreetLa Crosse, WI 54601608-791-5295https://www.fscenter.orgSteve Spilde: Today it is my special pleasure to welcome Trace Bell. I love listening to podcasts, and my all-time favorite is the RobCast. Trace is a regular co-host there with his father, Rob Bell. Last year, Trace and Rob changed how I see life with their four-part podcast series titled, “Me, We, and Everybody.” In the podcast, they provide a great introduction to Spiral Dynamics and helped me grasp an integral perspective on spirituality. I am excited to welcome Trace to this podcast. Trace, I appreciate that series of “Me, We, and Everybody” so much because it helped me understand what has been happening in our politics for the last five or six years. It also helped me understand the path of spiritual growth that I've been on, and the spiritual struggles I encounter with many people I meet in Spiritual Direction. Trace, I apologize for putting you on the spot, but for our listeners who may be unfamiliar with what we mean by “Spiral Dynamics,” how would you describe this theory?Trace Bell: First off, I'm so honored for everything you said; it makes me so happy to hear people's response to that series. I'm honored. It's not putting me on the spot. I've been explaining this in a lot of ways to a lot of people, and I love it. I love sharing this with people. Spiral Dynamics is a psychological development model that maps the evolutionary patterns of humans and individuals. It models how _____ individuals psychologically develop in collective. It was developed a couple decades ago by guys named Clare Graves and Don Beck, who were psychologists. They found that humans over time, their value systems change as they go through these stages of growth. This is what Spiral Dynamics is ultimately mapping: It's mapping that there are certain stages of growth the humans go through, and groups go through as well. It's been a really illuminating and helpful model because it allows you to see your own growth and the certain stages you went through in your own journey. It allows you to understand … A lot of people are simply acting from different stages in this model, and they're acting from different perspectives. Another way people describe Spiral Dynamics is it maps the evolution of consciousness. Your consciousness increases in its ability for complexity and depth and compassion and empathy over time. That's what Spiral Dynamics ultimately maps: It maps how humans grow to more whole, aligned, integrated individuals.Steve: [On] the RobCast, everything is spiritual, so it always looks at things through sort of a spiritual lens. How do you connect Spiral Dynamics with spirituality, in particular?Trace: The spiritual implications of Spiral Dynamics kind of hit me in the face when I first learned the model. It describes the growth that people go through on their journeys. And you can see as people grow in this high-level development, spirituality becomes an integral aspect of these higher levels of development. The higher levels on this model of Spiral Dynamics, people at these higher levels are often maturing to a deeper spirituality and taking a very spiritual perspective on things. Spiritual development and spiritual evolution, if you will, is kind of inherent in the design of our reality. A model that maps this development of humans in groups is going to say a lot about the spiritual evolution of the people that it's mapping. There are a lot of spiritual implications … One of the stages in Spiral Dynamics – which we teach in our class, “Living the Spirals” – [is] actually a stage about your deep connection to your personal connection to spirituality, your personal connection to reality itself. It's literally a stage … There are actually stages in this model that describe and articulate people's personal connection to spirituality. In those higher stages – those integrated, integral perspectives – those stages are so intertwined with spirituality, and it takes a very spiritual value of having compassion for everyone, understand that people are coming from different perspectives, meeting people where they're at.The spiritual implications are endless. It's very fun for people to learn the model and kind of take away their own conclusions and find their own ‘a-has' and insight through the model. I've watched people over time learn Spiral Dynamics and take away their own insights that I didn't even get when I learned it, or I didn't even realize. I would urge anyone listening to go check out the model themselves and see if they can find any spiritual implications or spirituality within it because spirituality is a language that speaks to us personally. The model speaks differently to different people, and different people have different insights. That's what so beautiful about it: It has so many different ways to read and understand it.Steve: I would just say for people who are listening to this to do yourself a favor and listen to that series – it's “Me, We, and Everybody.” If you do a search on the RobCast, it was like last year [in] November. You and Rob just do such a great job of making it accessible. It's complex material, but yet it's very understandable. I can see anyone understanding it, especially the way you presented it. I just encourage people to listen to that, and then you'll want to end up reading more.Trace: Thank you. That was our goal when we recorded it. My dad has been teaching Spiral Dynamics for over a decade, and he [asked], “What forum am I meant to teach this in? Is it supposed to be a video series? Is it supposed to be a book?” And then he [said], “Let's do a podcast series.” He [asked me], “Trace, will you join me for this podcast series?” He and I were talking about it, and I had learned it a year prior, and [we said], “Yeah, let's do a podcast series.” We said down and [asked ourselves], “How can we do this in our Trace and Rob language the best that connects with the most people and is the most accessible, and also makes them want to learn more?” To hear that it had that effect on people just makes me so happy. Thank you.Steve: You are relatively young – you're in your mid-20s, correct?Trace: Yup.Steve: [Talk] about your spiritual journey and how the Spiral Dynamics might fit into that for you.Trace: The first time my dad sat down and taught me Spiral Dynamics, it was a very Rob Bell moment. He sat down at the kitchen counter with two big blank sheets of white paper with a marker. And [I thought to myself], “OK, this is going to be a Rob Bell moment here.” [He told me], “I'm going to teach you Spiral Dynamics.” And boom, he just wrote it out on two big blank white sheets of paper. He just wrote it out in his writing, and it was just beautiful. I had this whole model in front of me, and I ended up actually hanging it in my bedroom because it was kind of like a souvenir almost. When I first learned Spiral Dynamics, it really connected a lot … It really put language in a framework to a lot of the things I had experienced. I grew up with my parents starting a massive megachurch in Michigan. My dad was teaching at the church, my parents were very involved with the church, and that kind of was their project. My dad was very involved in the Christian world. People are kind of surprised when they hear me say this, but I just never really connected with any sort of organized religious structure when I was younger. I just never felt like a deep connection to Christianity, and I didn't really feel a deep connection to the church or what my parents were doing. My parents kind of kept the kids separate from the church a little bit – they didn't involve us very much in the church life.I didn't really have a connection to any sort of religious structure or consider myself religious at all, but as a kid I had a deep, metaphysical kind of wonder about the universe. [It was] a deep sort of wonder and awe about the universe, and a deep wonder and awe about consciousness. I say that everyone has their own doorway into spirituality, which is everyone has their own way that they came into spirituality, and [their own] way that the universe kind of ushered them into a deeper relationship with God, source, spirit – whatever word you want to call it. And to me, that felt like my doorway. My doorway wasn't organized religion; my doorway was this deep kind of yearning to connect with reality and to connect and understand who I am and understand the interconnectedness of everything. My growth throughout the years was just kind of following this thread of deep wonder. As a kid, I was reading about consciousness and I was reading about different kinds of religions and I was just reading a bunch of things to satisfy this yearning and this wonder and awe.My spiritual journey has been reintegrating and following that childlike wonder and awe and exploring that. I had a deep kind of connection to spirituality and this deep spiritual connection. When I learned Spiral Dynamics, I could see the reason it was so illuminating for me on my own personal journey is that I could actually see myself going through all those stages throughout my life. I could actually see myself … There's a stage called “Orange,” which is very logic-oriented and very associated with the rational mind. When I learned Spiral Dynamics, I [said to myself], “I remember when I went through my ‘Orange' phase.' There's a stage called “Green,” which is all about seeing everyone as equal and having compassion and love for everyone. I [said to myself], “I remember when I went through my ‘Green' phase.' I could actually see all of these stages of consciousness within myself and within my own growth journey. And it wasn't just like stages of consciousness that I had sort of gone through and didn't have any access to.

People are social creatures, and we organize ourselves into cultures, societies, governments, groups. And here's the thing about these groups — most people here are living in a self-sacrificial environment. At an unconscious level, we're taught that the individual is subservient to the group, and the group is more important than the individual. Is it any wonder that most of us have a hard time embracing our desires and dreams when we've been conditioned to feel guilty and selfish if we expend too much energy going after what we want? In today's episode, we scratch the surface of Clare Graves' Values work. Clare Graves' work is less about individual values and more about thinking systems. The foundational values level systems are rooted in self-sacrifice or aggressive, shoot-myself-in-the-foot type of self-expression. It's not until Values Level (VL) 5 (there are at least 8 values levels) that we get into expressive values with win-win scenarios. It's a level where individualistic, “selfish” behavior isn't viewed as being at odds with the group's prosperity. This is huge! Especially for entrepreneurs, coaches, and commissioned salespeople. It's my goal to help all of my entrepreneurial clients and students transition into a solid VL5. Here you can begin to really live — guilt-free — from a place of abundance, of recognizing that it won't take anything away from anyone else. And the nature of VL5 allows for more curiosity which usually leads to more introspective work and deeper spiritual connections. Is Values Level 5 all there is? Hardly. But according to Clare Grave's model, we can't fully evolve to more complex levels until we've actualized the previous ones. Transitioning out of the sacrificial levels and firmly into a more resourcefully expressive level is key to your personal and financial evolution. Yep, Values Levels play an unconscious role in your money story. The story creates internal systems and environments that affect your decision-making. And you can interrupt unhelpful stories by… Remembering that it's just a story Interrupting the story with reject-delete and something that makes you laugh Imagining the power that once belonged to the story is coming back to you, where it belongs Taking action that aligns with what you want You are the author of your money story. Today's guest is Dr Rica Viljoen: "Rica worked closely with Dr Don Beck to translate spiral dynamic theory in a pragmatic way. She co-authored the book Spiral Dynamics in Action. She is the founder of the Centre of Human Emergence: Africa and actively involved in the integral space. Rica is an international organisational development and change specialist that focuses on multiculturalism and inclusivity. Her key interest resides in supporting organisations to create sustainable organisational cultures that result in business results through the optimisation of individual leadership behaviour, functional group dynamics and organisational sustainability. These key strategic factors are considered in the context of the industry and the country of operations." The main focus of this episode is to explore Spiral Dynamics (SD) in more depth. Rica was instrumental with training a global mining company in SD whose headquarters are in South Africa. We used the mining company as a practical example to explore the nuances of SD. In addition, we discuss the research of Clare Graves and the history of Ken Wilber's involvement with SD. Today's episode also features a guest host for the first time, Ryan Nakade. Ryan was a guest in season 1 and also serves as a co-host on the Growing Down podcast.

Michael Krieger joins me on on Ep 47 of Wake Up. He's an Ex Wall Street guy, founder of Liberty Blitzkrieg, Bitcoiner, Father, Husband and Gardener. The key topic of this discussion as Spiral Dynamics, a model of understanding the human collective and individual consciences through levels & layers of values frameworks. Created by Clare Graves in the time of Maslow, and built up by Don Beck, Spiral Dynamics is a fascinating way to understand human behaviour both at an individual and collective level. Apart from Spiral, the conversation covered: - Localism & Decentralisation - Global connectedness VS Globalism - Globalism = Industrial Farming & Monsanto - Localism = Permaculture - Globalism cannot work because the principles it sits on are false. - It removes accountability - Technocratic leviathans can only exist within the framework of a monopolistic state - Localism is natural & emergent. That's why it was they “way it used to be”. - Values are emergent & people naturally align around tribes & communities - The Municipality has the MOST power, then the city, then the state, then the nation. - Comfort & convenience. - Static VS Dynamic inequality. - Can move up. Can move down. - We've been in a Dark Age - Stupidity or Plan? - Spiral Dynamics - Don Beck & Ken Wilbur Some books & concepts mentioned by Mike: Brave New World Revisited. - Huxley Operation Mockingbird Share this episode with those you care about. We are evolved beings. In fact, we're more or less the same species we were 100,000 years ago. Yet, as individuals, we continue to develop until we die—as individuals and as cultural groups. Theories of adult development such as those proposed by Abraham Maslow, Lawrence Kohlberg, and Clare Graves are making a comeback. In this episode of Social Evolution, Michael and Max talk about the delicate interplay of nature and nurture. Then they discuss Spiral Dynamics, a popular “theory of everything,” which weaves together a number of threads in “bio-psycho-social” development.

Hello my friends, and welcome back to episode #5 of The Conscious Café! This week we are diving deep into our first theory of consciousness on the show- Spiral Dynamics! First developed in the 1950s by psychologist Clare Graves, Spiral Dynamics was originally proposed as a way to categorize people based on their pattern of thinking, rather than their personality. As it was first used, Spiral Dynamics was created to apply in managerial or business scenarios. However, when you look at the model, you can see how it is a spirituality and consciousness playground.Spiral Dynamics is composed of eight colors (or 'V-memes') that each correspond to a different level of consciousness. These levels play out both on an individual level and a societal level. Each level alternates between being focused on the individual ('I') or the group ('us'). I hope you love the episode as much as I loved recording it! I've included some links below to great articles, and a book, on Spiral Dynamics in case you are more of a reader.Spiral Dynamics Links:https://spiraldynamics.org/https://spiraldynamics.net/https://www.toolshero.com/change-management/spiral-dynamics/https://scottjeffrey.com/spiral-dynamics/ (This is probably my favorite article of all of them)Book: https://www.amazon.com/Spiral-Dynamics-Mastering-Values-Leadership/dp/1405133562/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=spiral+dynamic&qid=1617192412&sr=8-1Collectively Quantum Links:Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/collectivelyquantumInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/collectivelyquantum/Website: https://collectivelyquantum.com/

Spiral Dynamics is a model and language which describes the development of people, organisations and society. It helps us understand the value systems (what they care about and what motivates them) of different people and organisations, as they move through distinct stages of development. Taking an opportunity to say thank you... to you the listener of this podcast. 2020 has been an extraordinary year for any number of reasons. It's my hope that you've been able to extrapolate something of value from the many conversations thus far. My hope is to talk to you about ideas that many would prefer to avoid. That might actually spur you to taking action. My other hope for you is that you become a financial and economic rebel. Choosing what can help you rather than what can make you feel good!
I am truly privileged to have Dr Joanna Martin as my guest on my podcast. Jo was my trainer when I first learned neuro-linguistic programming and she was also one of the people who taught me presentation and public speaking skills. Since she is the person who inspired me to want to become a speaker and trainer, it was a delight when she agreed to come on the show. Jo is a renowned visionary, coach, speaker and entrepreneur Her message and work have directly impacted over 120,000 people on four different continents. She initially qualified as a medical doctor and spent a number of months in oncology where the death of a favourite patient provided a wakeup call to get her life “on purpose”. Then, she changed her career and was accepted to the Actors Centre Australia. She went on to study human psychology, behaviour and growth and in 2003 launched her own coaching company in Sydney, with no network and no business experience. Within a year her business was thriving, consulting with the likes of ANZ bank, John Fairfax Publishing and eBay.From there she worked as Head of Research and Training at one of the fastest-growing personal development companies on the international stage and in 2008 launched her own business Shift Speaker Training, which she took to 7-figures within just 12 months. There she shared her speaking success secrets with over 23,000 business owners over four years. Her evolution continued in 2014 when she founded One of many, to help women to step up into leadership and increase their impact without burning out. One of many has so far reached over 70,000 women around the world. Jo is an internationally acclaimed and award-winning speaker, a diplomatic wife, a sometimes-too-tired mother, a protective sister, and a caring friend. Don't miss this fascinating and inspiring conversation and find out how Jo is just one of many women changing the world. For anyone who gets/got a bit lost when we talked about values systems, it was referring to Gravsian Values as defined by Clare Graves in Spiral Dynamics. Robert Kegan, the author of The Evolving Self and In Over Our Heads, explores the vital role of interior development in creating a more inclusive and integrated world, as well as the importance of the appropriate use of discriminating awareness. Robert Kegan is a founding member of Integral Institute and the author of the critically acclaimed books The Evolving Self, In Over Our Heads, and How the Way We Talk Can Change the Way We Work. Bob is also the first-ever Meehan Professor of Adult Learning and Professional Development at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. As the holder of this endowed chair, Bob has the official support of HGSE to pursue developmental studies for the rest of his career. This is significant. For the past several decades developmental studies have fallen upon some hard times in academia. For many, to have a developmental view is to be hierarchical—and to be hierarchical is to be oppressive, regressive, patriarchal, and a direct contributor to the suffering of untold millions. The fact the HGSE has decided to so clearly support Bob’s work is a welcome sign that the winds may be shifting. It’s important to note that there are (at least) two significantly different ways that “hierarchy” can be understood: as it exists in the exterior structure of a society and as it exists in the interior structure of an individual. Historically, enormous abuses of power have occurred by those at the top of a societal hierarchy—but those who would do so are by definition not at the higher stages of the interior, developmental hierarchy. Psychologically, people grow through stages of increasing competence, care, and concern. Each stage transcends and includes the function of what came before, but excludes an exclusive identity with that function. As Bob and Ken discuss, an important element of worldcentric consciousness is the contributions of postmodernism, including feminism, civil rights, and, among other things, the understanding that a substantial amount of human knowledge is context dependant and culturally bound. But postmodernism then stepped beyond what it had evidence for and claimed that all knowledge was relative, and therefore nothing could be said to be better than anything else. In fact, a fellow researcher, Clare Graves, called this level of development relativistic (Spiral Dynamics green), which research has shown accounts for about 20% of the American population. But as Ken points out, that means that about 20% of the population has gotten confused about how to make conscious, explicit judgments. Most of the people in this group would agree that a worldcentric embrace of all cultures is better than ethnocentric racism, but postmodern relativism won’t be able tell them why it’s okay to think this way. When all judgments have been outlawed, even sensible examples of discriminating awareness rightly applied have nothing to stand on. A more mature, integral form of worldcentric consciousness acknowledges that there are different levels of consciousness existing in the world today, and that encouraging growth towards greater care, concern, and wholeness is entirely appropriate. No one is required to change the way they are living, but everyone is invited to discover for themselves these higher territories of human potential. World-renowned evolutionary leader, teacher and author Barbara Marx Hubbard transitioned just two weeks ago with blessings given from around the world to her as she embarks upon the next steps of her profound journey. Barbara has been a guest on A Better World Radio & TV a number of times over the years starting in her own living room in Santa Barbara around 10 years ago and her presence will be greatly missed. Until her recent passing, Barbara worked with Don Beck on a series of global initiatives through the House of Lords, the U,N., etc. To discuss these joint projects as well as his work-at-large, Don will be joining Mitchell in this week's show. Don has been developing, implementing, and teaching the evolutionary theory of Spiral Dynamics for more than three decades. Beck has elaborated upon the work of his spiralmentor, Clare Graves, to develop a multidimensional model for understanding the evolutionary transformation of human values and cultures. As cofounder of the National Values Center and CEO of the Spiral Dynamics Group, Inc., Beck is employing the Spiral Dynamics model to effect large-scale systems change in and among various sectors and societies of the world. He is the author of Spiral Dynamics: Mastering Values, Leadership & Change. Beck's consulting career has led him to such settings as 10 Downing Street to consult with Tony Blair's Policy Unit; the south side of Chicago to address the problems faced by inner-city schools; the World Bank to consider the future of Afghanistan; and the boardrooms of major banks, energy companies, airlines, and government agencies. In his 63 trips to South Africa between 1981 and 1988, he had significant impact on political leaders, the business sector, religious leadership, and the general public in order to help bring about the peaceful transition from apartheid to democracy. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/abwmitchellrabin/support

In Bob’s work he outlines Five Orders of Consciousness: First Order: Impulsive—Perceives and responds by emotion. Second Order: Imperial—Motivated solely by one’s desires. Third Order: Interpersonal—Defined by the group. Fourth Order: Institutional—Self directed, self authoring. Fifth Order: Interindividual—Interpenetration of self systems. Loosely, one can think of the first and second orders as egocentric (me), the third order as ethnocentric (us), and the fourth and fifth orders as worldcentric (all of us). If one grows from egocentric to ethnocentric, one doesn’t stop caring about oneself, but that care and concern is now extended to one’s family, community, nation, and so on. Likewise with the growth from ethnocentric to worldcentric, that care is now extended to all people regardless of race, class, creed, gender, etc. Originally published on 12/20/2004

Integral philosopher Steve McIntosh takes us on a tour through his view of the origins of integral theory, starting with Georg Friedrich Hegel, who first explained the mechanisms of evolution in human history, and on through a stream of philosophers who unified the evolution of matter, consciousness and spirit. He also considers a line of developmental psychologists, such as Jean Piaget and Clare Graves, who defined the distinct stages of human growth including the emerging integral stage.
To achieve something we have never achieved before, we must become someone we have never been. In this episode, we talk about how our identity is aligned with what we have in our lives and if we want something different to what is showing up, we must change our identity and step into a higher way of being. In this podcast I share with you a model of human consciousness evolution called, Spiral Dynamics, that was originally developed by Dr. Clare Graves, and later expanded upon by Don Edward Beck. Understanding human nature has been a topic of debate for many years amongst philosophers and scientists. In her research, Dr. Clare Graves sought to understand human nature and answer questions like, “Why are people different?” and “What do some people change, but others do not?” This model of human consciousness evolution will not only give you a better understanding of yourself and others, but will also allow you to operate at a higher level of consciousness. Let's dive into the evolution of human consciousness! In the words of Albert Einstein, “Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better.” Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brands Privacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Spiral Dynamics and the Biblical Narrative In this Episode we will be introducing Integral Theology, a topic that will be the basis for ongoing discussion using the model called “Spiral Dyamics”. This is a model being used in many fields such as, business, politics, world relations, finance and even sports to trace the history and evolution of human world views. We will be using Spirial Dynamics in the application of the Biblical Narrative. You can read more about Spiral Dynamics, based on the work of Clare Graves, by Don Beck and Christopher Cowan. Don Beck used the Spiral applications in his work with Nelson Mandela as he made over 25 trips to South Africa to help to bring together people who saw themselves having different identities and different human values. The movie “Invictus” was based on his work with Mr. Mandela. Who might be interested in this podcast : *Pastors *Spiritual Teachers *Anyone trying to navigate your own spiritual evolution As an example of our study of the Spiral in relation to the Biblical Narrative I would first quote Paul and his understanding of the evolution of human consciousness when he said, “when I was a child I spoke as a child….” saying childhood is a necessary role and function that leads to adulthood. Integral Theology is an All-In-All theology. Any spiritual or religious viewpoint that discriminates or marginalizes or brings about an identity of less than/more than is what we at Presence will call into question. It’s time to talk about those ‘lines in the sand’! What are boundaries with regard to human spiritual identity? What is our source of identity? As we move along in these podcasts the subjects of Identity, Form and Boundarieswill be key topics. Are we experiencing a Human Identity Crisis? I believe so!
