How can we have a personal relationship with God, when we do all the talking? How can Christians talk honestly about heaven and the afterlife without oversimplifying or confusing people? And why does Scripture sometimes show God responding with judgment and other times with surprising mercy? Kaitlyn lets the grown ups have a turn asking their questions, and they don't disappoint! Christiani Pitts stops by to chat about her journey from playing a scene stealing cow in a church nativity play to leading Broadway blockbusters. She shares a hilarious story about how a miscommunication led to her performing stand up comedy at a nightclub at age eleven for an event associated with Dave Chappelle, and how her parents supported her dreams while navigating the tricky world of early industry scams. We dive deep into her experience starring in King Kong, discussing the technical insanity of acting opposite a massive puppet and how she manifested doing an action movie on stage. She also opens up about her current role in Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), exploring how the show handles mental health with subtle physicality, the "simplistically complex" set design, and the joy of balancing life as a Broadway star and a mom to a daughter who thinks she is also in the cast. Christiani Pitts is a history making performer who received critical acclaim playing Anne Darrow in the Broadway production of King Kong. After previously starring as Jane in A Bronx Tale, she played Beverly in the Netflix romantic comedy Resort to Love and starred as Pernessa in Power Book III: Raising Kanan, with additional credits including Elementary, Evil, The Good Fight, Blue Bloods, and Dead Ringers. She is currently starring as Robin in the new Broadway musical Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York). Week 40 of Ted Gioia's Immersive Humanities Course brings together three demanding—and deeply philosophical—works: Leo Tolstoy's The Death of Ivan Ilyich, Fyodor Dostoyevsky's The Grand Inquisitor, and Friedrich Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil. But before we get started, I offer a short primer on reading Russian lit. The names can be a real challenge!Tolstoy's novella, written after his spiritual “conversion,” is a devastating meditation on death, meaning, and self-deception—circular in structure but spiraling ever deeper. It may be the finest short work I've read so far. Dostoyevsky's famous parable interrupts the narrative of The Brothers Karamazov to pose unsettling questions about freedom, faith, and institutional power, turning conventional religious assumptions upside down. Nietzsche's Beyond Good and Evil proved the most challenging: dense, contrary, and deliberately destabilizing, it rejects inherited moral frameworks in favor of examining desire, psychology, and power. Together, these works confront the shifting relationship between God, morality, and the modern self—making this one of the most intellectually intense weeks of the project. We are back next week with French writers who offer a totally different tone. Netflix told part of the story — but not all of it. This episode dives into the secrets the documentary left out, including the alleged hidden affair, the cult-like grip Jodi Hildebrandt had over her followers, and the power dynamics happening behind closed doors. The deeper you look, the more disturbing it gets — and it raises one big question: how much was intentionally left unsaid? . . What happens when a head of state is no longer treated as a political actor, but as a criminal defendant? In this episode of Profiling Evil, we walk through why U.S. federal prosecutors placed Nicolás Maduro in the same legal category as Manuel Noriega, and why comparisons to El Chapo often miss the mark. This video is not about whether the United States should act, it's about what actually happened, why these legal decisions were made, and how behavior, power, and entitlement shape the downfall of criminalized leaders. We'll explore how Noriega lost political immunity and why El Chapo is not the same as a dictator branded a criminal. Did these leaders misjudge their immunity? Let's examine the behaviors, the legal history, and true crime without politics.#ProfilingEvil #TrueCrime #NarcoState #Dictators #ManuelNoriega #NicolasMaduro #Maduro #ElChapo #CriminalJustice #BehaviorAnalysis========================================20% OFF Newspapers.com https://newspapers.com/profilingevil========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

In this episode, we take an unflinching look at one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. Theodore Robert Bundy murdered at least thirty women across seven states during the 1970s, and his case forever changed how we understand the nature of predatory violence. This is the complete story of Ted Bundy, from his troubled beginnings to his final moments in Florida's electric chair. We open on a summer afternoon at Lake Sammamish State Park in Washington State, where a handsome young man with his arm in a sling approached woman after woman, asking for help with his sailboat. Two of those women would never be seen alive again, and their disappearances would mark a turning point in one of the largest manhunts in Pacific Northwest history. The story begins in 1946 at the Elizabeth Lund Home for Unwed Mothers in Burlington, Vermont, where a young woman named Louise Cowell gave birth to a son she could not publicly claim as her own. We explore the elaborate family deception that followed, with Ted being raised to believe his grandparents were his parents and his mother was merely his older sister. We examine the household dynamics in Philadelphia, including accounts of his grandfather Samuel Cowell's violent temper, and we follow the family's cross-country relocation to Tacoma, Washington, where Louise would eventually marry a hospital cook named Johnnie Bundy. From there, we trace Ted's development through childhood and adolescence. We look at his struggles to connect with peers, his early fascination with violence and true crime, his nighttime prowling through neighborhoods, and the petty thefts that taught him he could take what he wanted without consequence. We follow him to the University of Washington, where he reinvented himself as a charming political operative and met the wealthy young woman whose rejection would send him spiraling into darkness. The heart of this episode chronicles Ted Bundy's years of murder. Beginning with the attack on Karen Sparks in January 1974 and the disappearance of Lynda Ann Healy just weeks later, we document the wave of terror that swept through the Pacific Northwest as young women vanished from college campuses and public spaces. We cover each known victim, the circumstances of their disappearances, and the desperate efforts of investigators who were working without the benefit of modern forensic tools or computerized databases. We examine the critical turning point at Lake Sammamish, where multiple witnesses saw the same man approaching women and where a composite sketch finally gave investigators something to work with. We reveal how Ted Bundy's own girlfriend reported her suspicions to police and how his name was lost in a pile of thousands of tips. The narrative follows Bundy to Utah, where he enrolled in law school and immediately began hunting again. We cover the murders of Nancy Wilcox, Melissa Smith, Laura Aime, and Debra Kent. We give particular attention to the attack on Carol DaRonch, the young woman who fought back and escaped, providing investigators with their first surviving witness who could identify her attacker. We then trace the crimes into Colorado and Idaho, documenting the murders of Caryn Campbell, Julie Cunningham, Denise Oliverson, Lynette Culver, and Susan Curtis. We explore how investigators across multiple states were slowly beginning to connect the dots, recognizing patterns that suggested a single killer was responsible for disappearances spanning thousands of miles. The capture of Ted Bundy receives detailed attention, beginning with the routine traffic stop by Utah Highway Patrol Sergeant Bob Hayward that revealed a car full of disturbing items. We cover Bundy's conviction for the kidnapping of Carol DaRonch and his extradition to Colorado to face murder charges. Two full chapters are devoted to Ted Bundy's escapes from custody. The first escape came when he leaped from a second-story window of the Pitkin County Courthouse in Aspen, leading authorities on a six-day manhunt through the Colorado mountains. The second escape was even more audacious, with Bundy sawing through the ceiling of his cell and walking out the front door of the Garfield County Jail on the night of December 30th, 1977. We follow Bundy to Florida, where he committed his most violent attacks. The Chi Omega sorority house massacre is covered in detail, documenting how Bundy killed two young women and severely injured three others in a span of minutes. We also cover his final victim, twelve-year-old Kimberly Leach, who was abducted from her junior high school in Lake City just weeks later. The legal proceedings receive thorough examination. We cover the groundbreaking Miami trial, one of the first to be televised nationally, where Bundy represented himself and was ultimately convicted based on eyewitness testimony and forensic bite mark evidence. We also cover the subsequent trial for the murder of Kimberly Leach and the failed insanity defense. The episode concludes with Bundy's nine years on death row, his eventual confessions to investigators, and his execution on January 24th, 1989. We examine his final interview with Dr. James Dobson, in which he blamed his crimes on pornography, and we consider the complicated legacy he left behind.Throughout this episode, we keep the focus where it belongs, on the victims. We name every known victim and honor their memory, reminding listeners that behind the sensational headlines were real women whose lives were cut short by a predator who exploited their trust and kindness. The Ted Bundy case fundamentally changed American law enforcement. It contributed to the creation of the FBI's Violent Criminal Apprehension Program and helped establish the modern science of criminal profiling. But perhaps its most important legacy is the warning it provides.Evil does not always announce itself. Sometimes it comes with a warm smile and a request for help. Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, it probably is.

South Africa has been in the news lately, and for all the wrong reasons. Violence in the country has reached feverish levels. Racist laws and policies target Afrikaners and farmers, even as they're being murdered at alarming rates. Many of these people who are being targeted and harmed are biblical Christians. Yet few know much about their plight, and far too few have raised their voice on their behalf. So what exactly is going on in South Africa? In this Bible Story, Eve is convinced to eat from the forbidden tree and then both Adam and Eve are banished from the garden. This story is inspired by Genesis 2:25 - 3:24. Go to BibleinaYear.com and learn the Bible in a year. Today's Bible verse is from Genesis 3:5 the King James Version. Episode 3: When God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden, He told Adam that he could eat from any tree of the Garden…that is any tree except the Tree of The Knowledge of Good and Evil. For God knows what’s best, and He wanted to give Adam and Eve a chance to choose freely either to trust in Him, and what He says - coming to Him for knowledge and wisdom - or to trust in their own power, and try to seize wisdom on their own terms. Listen as we see Adam face the consequences of his choice and reflect on how each one of us still face this choice today. Trump's decisive military operation in Venezuela and the historic uprising now erupting in Iran did not happen in isolation; they are shockwaves from the moment Israel finally fought back and shattered the axis that believed Jewish resistance could be crushed. When Ashlee Buzzard stood in court and entered a not guilty plea, outrage followed almost instantly. For many watching from the outside, especially in a case involving the death of a child, that moment felt unbearable. How could someone who's been accused of something so horrific not plead guilty? We've seen this same reaction play out repeatedly, not just in the Buzzard case, but in other emotionally charged prosecutions like the Rob and Michelle Reiner homicide and the Daybell murders, cases where the severity of the crime collides head-on with the realities of constitutional process.Let's explore why guilty pleas almost never happen at the arraignment, why that moment in court is procedural and not moral, and then, why demanding speed in cases like this often undermines the very justice people are asking for. Profiling Evil breaks down how life sentences actually work in the United States and why “life without parole” doesn't always mean what people think it means. How does the United States compare to the rest of the world when it comes to permanent punishment, are we an outlier, and what does all of this mean for victims, families, and a justice system trying to balance accountability with constitutional limits? This video is not about sympathy. It's about understanding the system we rely on to speak for the dead.#MelodeeBuzzard #AshleeBuzzard #RobReiner #MichelleReiner #NickReiner JJVallow #TyleeRyan #CharlesVallow #TammyDaybell #Chad Daybell #LoriDaybell #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #Homicide #Murder #Missing #Utah #California #Idaho #Court #Criminal #Behavior #Crime #LifeWithoutParole #LWOP #DeathPenalty #Justice========================================20% OFF Newspapers.com https://newspapers.com/profilingevil========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================
