The Wests Tigers Podcast teamed up with colleagues from several other Wests Tigers pods, social media platforms, and supporter groups to say, "Enough is enough." The issue we've all been fighting for under the 'Wests Tigers Unite' banner is a review into what we all believe is the archaic and undemocratic debenture group utilized by Wests Tigers majority owners, Holman Barnes Group (HBG). After launching the joint public campaign, including commencing a petition calling for the review, the Sydney Morning Herald confirmed a probe into the HBG's governance had been launched by Liquor & Gaming NSW. This is a huge result and means that hopefully, Wests Tigers can benefit from the implementation of review recommendations, including the appointment of highly skilled independent board members. Working together under the Wests Tigers Unite banner are groups and individuals including: Rob Bechara (Wests Tigers Life Podcast) Tiger Town Podcast The Ambush support group Wests Tigers Forum Save Leichhardt Oval group And, us here at the Wests Tigers Podcast & Forum. So, we thought we would get together and record a podcast that could be shared across the different podcasts. This edition features Rob, Zac from Tiger Town, Will (Spartan 117) from Wests Tigers Forum, and Garry Watson and I. We hope you enjoy this unique collaboration podcast where we talk about the action, the investigation into HBG governance, the flaws in the debenture system, and what the future might now hold for the club we all love, Wests Tigers! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Today we are taking the first step into launching action to change the governance of the majority shareholder of the Wests Tigers, the Holman Barnes Group (HBG). This action commenced after the HBG board (controlled by Magpies die-hards Julie Romero and Dennis Burgess) dragged its feet over introducing and adopting the full recommendations from the external review into the governance of the Wests Tigers. We fought so hard for that review in 2023 and it only came about because you supported our petition. This time, we intend to make our action much bigger and louder than the Wests Tigers Podcast and we will be calling on all Wests Tigers social and media outlets to support this action, potentially under the banner of 'Wests Tigers Unite'. Make sure you catch this edition of the Wests Tigers Podcast to get a better idea of what is happening at the HBG. We also discuss the importance of making our campaign bigger and bolder than our 2023 action. And we outline exactly what it is that we want to achieve, and why it is so important for the Wests Tigers that these changes are made. We intend to launch the petition in the coming days, it will be available on the home page of the Wests Tigers Podcast website and will also be shared on our Facebook group and the Wests Tigers Podcast Forum. Ahead of this action, we again ask that you take an interest in this important matter as it is the final hurdle in giving the Wests Tigers the ownership and governance that will help the club we all love thrive.

Josh and Chris talk through some of the underappreciated archetypes in HBG and why they like to get a little cray cray.
This week's episode is about being up to speed. Up to speed with the changes in the format. How not to fall into a trap of playing week one drafts in week 3 and how to update your format fundamentals without losing too much time on it? How to know which archetypes are more open than others at any given point in time. But that is not all. HBG is the fastest non-cube draft format in Arena history. How to deal with the speed of Mardu color combinations and how to look at the game length data through the lens of game speed? Which color combinations are fast and which ones are quite successful despite being slower? Brandon Cobb is the CEO of a real estate acquisition company called HBG Capital. He's a trusted voice in the field and has spoken multiple times at the Realty for One Investor Expo, appeared on the cover of Rei Wealth Magazine, and has even written an article for Forbes. He and his team at HBG handle around 40 transactions a year, which involves a lot of moving parts - that's why he knows all about the importance of hiring and training the right people to get it all done. Brandon says the key to solving problems in your business comes down to the “who,” rather than the “how.” That means you should focus on hiring great people to get the work done well. In this episode, Brandon and I discuss not only how important hiring and training an incredible team is, but also how to handle the process in the best way possible. From finding great candidates to creating top-notch onboarding materials for them, our conversation is filled with helpful tips for handling it all with ease. In this episode[2:10] Brandon explains his background and gives us some insight into the type of work he does at HBG Capital. [7:18] Brandon says that getting things done is “about the who, not the how” - AKA, hiring the right people![11:17] Brandon shares success stories of his hiring process and emphasizes the importance of a detailed onboarding guide.[15:06] Brandon explains that the right hiring sequence is all about fixing one problem at a time, starting with building systems and processes to make training easier. That includes training videos![19:10] How do people react to this type of system? Brandon says it made his whole team's life easier!Support the show (https://jeffmendelson.com/onebigtip)

The HYP’s “How It’s Built in the ‘Burg” series is a new program held every other month about innovators, entrepreneurs, and idealists. HYP pulls in local entrepreneurs and business founders from the Central PA Area to share their triumphs, failures, serendipity, and insight. This month we heard from Meghan & Mary, the co-founders of the HBG Flea! The HBG flea is run by co-founders and friends Meghan Jones and Mary Imgrund. Meeting at Penn State Harrisburg where they both were part of the English program, they realized that their creative compatibility and desire to create a stronger community presence worked perfectly as a business platform. And thus became the HBG Flea. Special thanks to Clark Stefanic at http://stefanic.video/ for the recording and editing of this Podcast.

Author of the Frank Adversego Thriller Series Interview starts at 11:14 and ends at 35:51 “Alexa's pretty primitive. I think it's very concerning from a cybersecurity point of view, because people have already learned how to spoof Alexa. Just a few days ago they came up with the equivalent of a dog whistle-type command that you couldn't hear, but Alexa could. Someone could turn it on and off.” News “An Amazon Echo recorded a family's conversation, then sent it to a random person in their contacts, report says” by Hamza Shaban at The Washington Post - May 24, 2018 “Don't Freak Out About That Amazon Alexa Eavesdropping Situation” by Lily Hay Newman at Wired - May 24, 2018 “HBG, Amazon Partner on Narrative Content for Echo Device” by Calvin Reid at Publishers Weekly - May 22, 2018 “Are ebooks dying or thriving? With Chelsie Markel, Intern Jimi, Chris Harveyand Kurt Wewer at Grain + Verse Continuing the run up to Harrisburg Beer Week we took a trip to Grain + Verse just outside the city to sit down with Chelsie Markel of Stouts and Stilettos and beer week organizer, HBW Intern Jimi, Homebrew Liaison Chris Harvey, and Grain + Verse Executive Chef Kurt Wewer. Sadly, for the first time ever Steph was absent but we made do with news stories including a distinctly “feminine” beer and a bit of The Rice is White in Happy Fun Time Games, all while sampling brews and food and chatting about the second Harrisburg Beer Week.
Not everything on Walt's drawing board made it to Disneyland. Today, Jason takes us through one of these lands in ... The History of Liberty Street But first ... We start the show with a lovely clip from Shaun and Ryan, two listeners who love the show so much that they recorded a little audio clip for us to play. Awesome! Bev joins us inside the studio and out of her call booth glass case of emotion, which was probably really great for her. We start off with our first Disney Animation Movie Recap - Snow White! We get into some feedback, letting us know that "Crescent City" is NOT a small boarder town, but a nickname for New Orleans. Now we know. Taren and Jason talk about their latest trip to the parks and how great all of the plussings look for the 60th anniversary. We got to see some of the new ride stuff, including the new animated door for Indiana Jones, which is great, but the best thing we saw was the new Matterhorn Yeti. The Imagineers have made this ride relevant again for me. Just an amazing job, and we highly suggest waiting in this long line for a chance to ride the Matterhorn - 100% worth it!. We also saw the Hat Box Ghost, and while we just plain forgot to talk about him. The first time we saw him, he wasn't working. Now, we found out a few things: that part of the action that makes the head vanish is that the entire thing drops into his chest cavity, leaving the second one free to appear within the actual hat box. Savvy riders have figured this trick out and have actually been tossing water bottles and other trash into the cavity, blocking the head from popping back up. This results in a broken and static Hat Box Ghost. So we forgot to talk about him on the show, but there you go - all the HBG info you could ever want! Jason then gets into the history of Liberty Street. Many people aren't familiar with the concept of Liberty Street, and if they are, they are usually thinking of the one located in Walt Disney World. In fact, Liberty Street was originally planned for Disneyland, and Jason has the history of the concept - it's short but pretty interesting! We also found a cool clip of Walt talking about his concept for Liberty Street - check it out, it's really cool: Then we get through some Disney News, a random Fact of the Show, and that's it! Some Liberty Street Concept Art
