This sermon begins with reports from a global gathering in Cyprus, highlighting the perseverance of the persecuted church (e.g., in Ukraine) and a "quiet revival" in the West, especially among Gen Z (Bible sales, app downloads, and Christian music streams are all up significantly). The theme, drawn from this, is "But God," as we dive into Exodus 5 and 6.Scripture ReferencesExodus 5:1-23: Moses confronts Pharaoh; Pharaoh makes the work harder.Exodus 6:1-13: God reveals His "I WILL" promises; the people can't listen due to their "broken spirit."Key PointsObedience Often Meets Opposition (Exodus 5) Moses, fresh from the burning bush, obeys God. He confronts Pharaoh with the message, "Let my people go." The immediate result is not deliverance, but disaster. Pharaoh not only refuses but makes the work impossible (same brick quota, no straw), making things worse. This "one step forward, two steps back" pattern is a common experience. When you step into God's call, expect opposition.Turn to God, Not the Oppressor (Exodus 5:15-23) The Israelite foremen, in their pain, cry out to Pharaoh—the source of their problem. Moses, in contrast, takes his anger and confusion directly to God: "Why, Lord, have you brought trouble on this people? ... You have not rescued your people at all." He models what heroes of the faith do: he talks to God, not just about God.The Ultimate Conjunction: "But God" (Exodus 6:1) The story is never over. As Christians, we are always connected to the ultimate conjunction: the cross. Our circumstances ("I was abused," "I was abandoned," "Gen Z is lost") are real, but they are met with the greater reality: "But God..." This connects our bleak situation to God's covenant, His control, and His promises.Revelation, Not a Plan (Exodus 6:2-8) When Moses complains, God doesn't give him a new strategy or explain how He will do it. He gives a revelation of Himself. He reveals His name, "I AM the LORD," and makes seven powerful "I WILL" statements ("I will bring you out," "I will deliver," "I will redeem," etc.). Our trust is not in a plan, but in His character.ConclusionThe Israelites couldn't hear these incredible promises because of their "broken spirit and harsh slavery" (Exodus 6:9). Many of us are the same. We live under the voice of a "Pharaoh," an impossible taskmaster who says, "You must deliver. You're idle. Work harder." We mistake this voice of condemnation for the voice of God.The taskmaster says, "Go now, you must deliver." The Savior says, "Come to me, all you who labor, and I will give you rest." The Gospel is not about what you must do; it's about what Christ has done. He is the one who rescues us from impossible quotas and heals our broken spirits.Calls to ActionCome to Communion: Remember what Christ has done, not what you must do.Receive Prayer for a Broken Spirit: If you find it hard to hear God's promises due to disappointment, receive ministry.Be Freed from the Taskmaster: If you are laboring under a voice of condemnation, come forward to be released into the rest of the Gospel. Are We Underestimating Praise?2 Chronicles 20:21-22 "After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”In this chapter of Chronicles, God's people have armies coming to attack them from three different places.  Things were not looking good.  Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah as he stood in the assembly.  He told the king and all the people of Judah that they shouldn't be afraid because they was not their fight, it was God's fight.  He told them to march down against the invading armies, but that they would not have to fight the battle.  This is where the verse picks up.  “After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.”Jehoshaphat and his army were headed into what seemed like a hopeless battle.  There were three different armies waiting to destroy them and to take their land.  You would think they would have the soldiers lead them this battle.  Even if they trusted God, you would think just to be on the safe side you would have the soldiers go first.  However, King Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise Him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out to face the armies.  “As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”Did you catch that last part?  It doesn't say once they started fighting the Lord gave them victory.  It doesn't say their enemy was defeated by their mighty hand.  It says as they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against their enemy and they were defeated.  They didn't even have to fight a single person.  They didn't have to lift their hands at all in this fight, they just needed to lift up their voices.   Do you have enemies that you need defeated?  Are you praising God now while you are in the middle of it, or are you waiting until you get out of it?  I have known that praise is important for some time know.  I have even done other episodes on how important it is to praise through the storm, not just after it is over.  However, I didn't know about this story.  I didn't know about God destroying three armies with praise alone.  Sometimes we are trying to fight our enemies on our own.  We know we need God and yet we ask Him for so much we feel we should try to do this one on our own.  Yet, instead of leading with praise we lead with anger, frustration, sadness, jealousy and whatever other emotions we are feeling in the moment.  Can you think of a time when you have charged into a situation with your emotions leading the way?  How did that work out for you?  For me, it never works out.  When I go into a situation on my own, without inviting the Lord to come with me, it never works out as I intended it to.  However, when I do think to praise the Lord while I am in the middle of a difficult situation, it always turns out well.  There are times when we think God has abandoned us.  We are praying and it does not seem like He is with  us. Maybe we are the ones who have abandoned God.  We may be praying, but are we praying with a hopeful heart?  Are we trusting God will come through for us when we pray?  Are we praising God for all He does for us?  God is working in our lives every single day, are we praising Him for that?  I talk a lot about gratitude because I think it is so important to go through life being grateful for what we have.  I think when we are grateful with what we have God blesses us with more.  Being grateful is also a great way to shift our mood if we are feeling sad, or having a bad day.  Sometimes all it takes is a perspective switch and we can turn our whole day around.  Praise is different from gratitude.  Sometimes we can be praising God for what we have and what He has done for us and yet praise is so much more than that.  We can also praise God fro who He is.  Sometimes we are in a situation where we may not want to or be able to praise God for the situation. For instance, in this verse God's people were not praising God for the situation they were in.  They were not grateful they had three armies coming after them.  They were praising God for “the splendor of His Holiness.”  They were praising God for who He is.  He is the the Fountain of Life.  He is the great “I AM.”  He is the Just One and He is the King of kings.  He is the Lord of Lords and He is the Light of the world.  He is the Lord our God.  He is the Way, the Truth and the Life.  How often are you praising God for simply being God?  How often are you spending time in prayer thanking and praising God for being everything you need Him to be?  Maybe the next time we are in a hard situation, instead of charging into the situation with our guns blazing, maybe we can lead with our praise.  Instead of leading with our anger, frustration, sadness, we can lead with our praise.  God is always there for us.  Let's be there for Him.  Let's give God the praise that He so rightly deserves.  The thought just came to me that not everyone knows how to praise God.  There is not specific way.  I love to listen to praise and worship music, which is really any Christian music.  I am also part of a prayer group and we praise outloud to the Lord thanking Him for all He has done and all he Is.  I say phrases such as those listed above, things such as, you are the Light of the World, You are the Word made flesh, You are the King of the Kings.  You can also think back to all you have and thank God for that one by one.  You can thank God for everyone He has brought into your life.  Praise is time spent with the Lord when you are either thanking Him for something or you are talking about all the reasons He is awesome!!  I challenge you to find some time in your day today and praise the Lord.  You can do it silently within your own heart, or you can shout if from the roof tops, and everything in between.  Whatever you feel comfortable with.  The more you praise the  more comfortable it will feel to you.  Also, the more you praise the more you will see God working in your life.  Dear Heavenly Father I ask you to bless all those listening to this episode today.  Lord, help us to praise you more.  Put praise for you on our hearts so we long to do it.  Give us a thirst for praising you Lord.  It is so amazing how you defeated Judah's enemy when they started to praise you.  Lord, we have many enemies and we need you to defeat them.  Help us to praise you first instead of trying to fix it all our selves.  We love you Lord, you are so powerful.  You give Light to our lamps.  You straighten our crooked path.  You are always by our side and we am so grateful.  I ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus' holy name, AmenThank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus.  I look forward to spending time with you on Monday.  Remember, Jesus loves you and so do I!  Have a blessed weekend. www.findingtruenorthcoaching.comCLICK HERE TO DONATECLICK HERE to sign up for Mentoring CLICK HERE to sign up for Daily "Word from the Lord" emailsCLICK HERE to sign up for my newsletter & receive a free audio training about inviting Jesus into your daily lifeCLICK HERE to buy my book Total Trust in God's Safe Embrace

Please give me now the strength, ability, and most of all, the humility, through your Holy Spirit, to say what I want to read out to this congregation, as you would want me to read and say it Lord. Please allow me to keep control of myself, and my emotions, whilst doing so. I stand humbly before you Lord God, and before your beloved Son, Christ Jesus. Amen. For 59 years of my life, I lived with faith " only in myself ".I was at best a Sceptic, at worst an Atheist. I would go right out of my way to test and very strongly argue against anyone I met, who professed to have a faith, in any sort of God. I needed nothing, but my own free will. All my faith was "only" in myself. In 2002 / 2003 my world fell apart. I was left alone to myself. All my lifelong responsibilities disappeared. I became for 2 years a solitary hermit, living in my house, completely alone. It was during this time, alone, that I started to question, :- What my life was about. What was I here for. What was the reason for my being, if there even was one. I wanted, and so needed contact with other people. I needed to talk, to be listened to, and to listen to others. We are not meant to be solitary beings we are social creatures. We so need fellowship with others, like we need food. After over 2 years of self imposed solitary confinement, I was becoming worried about losing my ability to communicate with others. It was back just before Christmas 2005, I received through my door the usual annual programme of all the Churches in my area, listing all their events, over the Christmas period. I decided to systematically visit all of them. Not to seek faith. I'm a Sceptic, an Atheist. I just want to have communication with others. I visited most of the local Churches over the coming months, and always found people to speak and listen to, but none of the Churches somehow felt right for me, until I visited " Verwood Road Evangelical Chapel ", just up the road from where I live, in Three Legged Cross. Here I felt good, " well better ". I liked the way they did things. It was not a liberal church. It was more leaning towards, a Brethren sort of fellowship, but not too hard line. There was no pomp or high ceremony, no fancy clothes or precious things to see or worship. These were ordinary people, just like me. Over the next 10 months I visited V.R.C. " on and off " at first, maybe once or twice a month and found that I liked it more and more, so I went more and more. By October 2006, I found that I was wanting to go not only every Sunday but twice on Sundays. It was at this time that I seriously decided to the best of my ability, to very fully investigate just what this Christianity was really all about. How could so many intelligent, thinking people, believe in it? For the next 6 months, I lived in the single minded state of total study of the Christian faith. I devoted all of my time to the study of the Bible and many, many books, both for and against the Christian faith. I prayed and prayed so very hard to God to give me a definite sign - a proof that God was out there and not something made-up in my own mind. I was in heartfelt tears, many, many times, asking for some proof, a miracle even, a certain sign, anything, but no sign or proof came. I was God's for the taking, but both He, and my heart, wasn't ready. In late March 2007, something happened to turn me completely off Christianity. I went from very serious " single minded seeking " with all my heart and soul, TO - " This Christianity is certainly not for me ". It is not " at all " important what " event " occurred to cause this absolute turn around. It is only important to understand that it was very strongly driven by "My Own Self Pride ". God knew that it had to be, for Him to use it, to turn this 60 year old Atheist into a Christian. It was during my very powerful, and emotional efforts, to try and take a wrong, and turn it into a right, No matter what the cost, that my eyes were turned back into myself. To see, or to start to see, that all I hated and despised in others, was also, very present in myself. I was no better, than all those that I felt the very strong need to " bring to rights " in my life. It was at this moment in time, of now seeing, just what " I Am ", that my life changed forever. I was born on Easter Friday, Good Friday, the 4th. April. In 2007, Three days after my 60th. Birthday, at exactly 12:32 p.m. lunch-time on Easter Saturday, the 7th. April, I at last discovered, that I was nothing, undeserving of my life, A Sinner that so needed the forgiveness of God. This opened my heart to God, and at that very moment, He Came In. It was at this time, that I understood, for the very first time, the Amazing events of Easter, and that Jesus died for me, that I may have life, and live life, to the full. The next day, Easter Sunday, 2007, I took my first communion with my God. I would now like to say, that I am not a writer, I agree with " Winnie The Pooh Bear ", when he said.:- "Yes' I know all my letters, but my spelling is wobbly. It's good spelling, but it wobbles, and my letters get into the wrong places!" I'm not a poet either. I'm a practical man, an engineer. In the early hours of Easter Monday morning, 2007, at 1:30 a.m. whilst I was sat in my back porch thinking " in a daze " about what had happened to me on Easter Saturday, I picked up a pen and without thinking, wrote out the following poem. It is un-referenced, original and un-edited. It is just as it came down to me, 37 hours after finding my faith. This poem is called :- The Fellowship - ( Revealed ) I don't know where I'm going, I don't know where I've been, I don't know what's in store for me, But God has hold, to let me see. For he will surely show my way, My guide, to lead, to change each day. To give me life, I've never seen, To serve, to try, to make life clean, To hold me close, to let me go, To understand, To love me so. My God is One, with saviour Christ, He gave for me, The Total Price. My heart is found, the Ghost within, Salvation sealed, Forgiven Sin. My past remains, but all washed clean, My future comes, like it's never been. I cannot say the words I feel, Of things that are, to me so real. My sad, sad past, is gone, my futures clean, For with my eyes, new life I've seen. This gift of love, that has been given, Shall remain with me, right through to Heaven. The Fellowship - ( Revealed ) There is nothing good that can come out of me, from my own self, Self. Any good that may come from me, comes through me, from God. So please just Praise the Lord. You're not short on tactics. You're short on insight. Meet The Sales Therapist Emma became a hypnotherapist and coach after confronting her own childhood conditioning. Her work helps clients separate who they were taught to be from who they choose to be. Her process is built on one structure: Thought → Feeling → Behaviour → Identity Working backwards: Identify the behaviour causing friction. Find the feeling underneath it. Trace it to the root thought or story you're still running. Question that story, mark it in red, and rewrite it. Why “Not Enough” Runs the Show Every human Emma works with carries some form of “I'm not enough.” Those stories form early, between ages 0 and 7, and quietly dictate your adult life until you rewrite them. Perfectionism? A response to shame. Control? A response to fear. People-pleasing? A response to rejection. Even a stable, loving childhood can script unrealistic expectations for how life and leadership “should” look. Three Blind Spots: Money, Conflict, Identity Money: Childhood exposure to financial stress or “be humble” messaging leads to founders who fear being “too much.” They either hoard or overspend, both are control responses. Conflict: We're wired to see discomfort as danger. In business, it's a growth signal. The more you face discomfort, the stronger your neural pathways for courage become. Identity: Marcus and Emma explore five traps: Confusing your role with your identity. Performing self-awareness while staying defensive. Worshipping willpower instead of rewiring the subconscious. Waiting for perfection before acting. Using trauma as fuel until it burns you. Response Over Reaction A feeling lasts about 90 seconds. The thought beneath it keeps it alive. When the wave hits, stop, breathe, and scan your body. Let the feeling fade before you think. Then ask: what thought started that? You'll notice logic always arrives second. Rebuilding Internal Validation External praise bounces off if your internal narrative rejects it. Emma teaches clients to build an Evidence Shelf: External evidence: moments of positive feedback. Internal validation: self-statements in your own language (“I handled that well,” “I'm capable”). Journaling reinforces these new beliefs. Handwriting engages more of the brain. Emma's “I Am” prompts and Marcus's favourite ABCDE model (by Dr. Albert Ellis) help rewrite the script: A: Activating event B: Belief C: Consequence D: Dispute E: Effect From Protection to Purpose The voice that says “this is woo-woo” is the voice keeping you small. Improve by 0.1% a day and you'll be 43% better in a year. That's the compound effect of facing what's uncomfortable. Ask yourself: What belief am I defending that no longer serves me? Am I living by choice or conditioning? What's the emotional cost of staying the same? Am I leading or just reacting with authority? What part of me needs to heal so I can lead cleanly? This morning, we conclude our series on the I AM statements of Jesus by looking at John 11:17-37 where Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life." While we have hope of resurrection, perhaps the resurrected life begins much sooner for those who put their faith in Jesus.

You are so powerful, so holy, and so wise. We need you. We seek you. We are desperate to hear a word from you today, Lord. We also know that we have failed over and over again. Lord, forgive us for our sins, for the ways we fall short. In these next few moments of silence, Lord, hear our prayers...Jesus, help us stay focused on you and your Word today. In Your Name, Amen. Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that goes along with the New Hope Church daily Bible reading plan. As most of you know, we are currently doing a deep dive into the Gospels and Acts. Today, we begin John 10. Today, we have come to our third and fourth I AM statements from Jesus, "I am the door of the sheep" and "I am the good shepherd." Let's go deeper here. Jesus begins the chapter with an analogy about sheep. Most of us aren't going to get the deeper meaning because we generally don't know a lot about sheep. From what I understand, a shepherd has a distinctive call for his sheep. His sheep know his voice and his call. They aren't going to respond to a stranger, they know the voice of their own shepherd. It's the shepherd that enters the sheep pen by the front gate. He doesn't need to sneak in by climbing the fence. He safely leads the sheep out to pasture. He is the one that the sheep can trust. Then, why does Jesus say he is the gate? Afterall, we expect him to say he is shepherd, he has literally just given us this shepherd language that makes a fair amount of sense. Why a gate? This took some research. In the middle east at the time, the sheep slept in a pen without a gate; there was just an opening. The shepherd was literally the gate for the pen. He would lay his body across the opening. No sheep would step over him and a wolf couldn't get in without getting past the shepherd first. He was literally the gate. If this is the case, we can see how Jesus could easily be both the gate and the shepherd at the same time. Other scholars say that Jesus is speaking of a literal gate and they cite his use of the word doorkeeper as evidence. Regardless of a literal gate or a shepherd using his body as the gate, I think the meaning is the same. Jesus is protecting the sheep. The thieves and robbers come to wound and destroy. Jesus, as the gate, protects life at nighttime and offers life during the day by taking the sheep out to pasture. It's all about living the life abundant. If you haven't figured it out by now, we are the sheep and Jesus is our shepherd. He is the voice we need to seek, he is the one who provides and protects, and he is one who offers abundant and full life. And Jesus is a very good shepherd. He laid down his life for his sheep, for us. He wasn't coerced into this, but rather he voluntarily died for our sins. There will be other religious leaders, hired hands as Jesus calls them, who will abandon their followers at the first sign of trouble. But Jesus, on the other hand, is our eternal protector. Welcome back to the Daily Dose of Hope, the devotional and podcast that complements the Bible reading plan at New Hope Church in Brandon, Florida. As most of you know, we are currently doing a deep dive into the Gospels and Acts. Today, we start John 9. When we started the Gospel of John, we talked about how the author calls the miracles in his book "signs." Each sign points to a deeper meaning about the identity of Jesus. Turning water into wine at the wedding in Cana demonstrated that Jesus is the abundantly generous host of the messianic banquet. The feeding of the 5,000 demonstrated that Jesus is a gracious provider who gives manna but also his own body and blood. The sign in John 9, the healing of the man born blind, shows that Jesus is the giver of sight and revealer of truth. Jesus restores the man's physical sight, and he also states that he is the light of the world in verse 5. There is the literal sign and then deeper themes beneath each one. Let's talk about the sign a little more. We become quickly aware of an assumption that for a person to be born blind, someone must have sinned. After seeing the man born blind, the disciples ask the blunt question – who is to blame? Jesus makes the statement that neither he nor his parents sinned; he was born this way so that God's power could be revealed in him. There is definitely a bit of debate about whether the words "born blind" were in the original Greek. I don't think it's relevant. The bottom line is that the Jews at the time believed that someone who was blind (born blind or not) must have some connection with deep sin. Yet, this man expresses belief in Jesus. He confesses faith. He calls Jesus, "Lord." On the other hand, the Pharisees who think they are morally superior are actually the ones who are sinful. They may have physical vision but they are spiritually blind. Things are not always as they seem. What does it mean to be spiritually blind and live in darkness OR it's opposite, to live in the light of Jesus? Depending on where you stand, it drastically affects your perspective. Symptoms of spiritual blindness could include a hardened heart, trouble understanding the bigger picture of faith, being controlled by emotions rather than truth, or the feeling of being disconnected from God. Other symptoms could be doubt, hopelessness, and a strong focus on rules (legalism) which can lead to judgement and self-righteousness. When we live in darkness, we are also easily deceived when it comes to spiritual truth. We can see this in the Pharisees. The more important question is to we see this in ourselves? When we walk in the light of Jesus with spiritual eyes open, we are changed people. We seek to know Jesus more deeply. We seek truth and we have clarity about those things that are not pleasing to God in our own lives. We are filled with the fruit of the Spirit. Living in the light also makes our identity very clear. We are children of God. We belong to Jesus and we are created to bring glory to God in everything we do. One more thing from this chapter and the book of John: There are seven "I AM" statements in this book. Keep in mind, that throughout the Old Testament, it was only God, Yahweh, who used the words I AM to describe himself. Jesus is now using these statements to further emphasize who he is and where he is from. We already encountered "I am the bread of life" in chapter six. This chapter has the second "I AM" statement, "I am the light of the world." Jesus says he is the light and then he proves it with the sign of healing the blind man. Tomorrow, we will talk about "I am the door" in chapter ten. Each of these statements tells us more about the identity of Jesus and his purpose. More tomorrow. Blessings, Pastor Vicki

In this powerful message, we're challenged to step out in faith and believe in the God of impossibility. The story of Peter healing Aeneas and raising Tabitha from the dead in Acts 9 serves as a compelling reminder that God is still in the business of miracles. We're encouraged to be available and interruptible, just as Peter was, allowing God to use us in unexpected ways. The parallel drawn between these events and Jesus raising Jairus' daughter emphasizes that what seems impossible to us is merely 'sleeping' to God. This message urges us to reflect on areas in our lives where we've stopped believing for the miraculous, perhaps because we've curated our lives so carefully that we no longer need faith. Are we willing to trust God for the impossible, even when it means stepping out of our comfort zones? This teaching reminds us that God's name is not 'I was' but 'I AM' - He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, capable of doing the extraordinary in our ordinary lives.
