Dan shares tales of two islands this week. We'll head to the remote Pacific Samoan island of Ofu, where there's a stretch of beach so feared that many locals refuse to walk it after dark. A place believed to be a gathering ground for spirits who've never crossed over. A place where ghosts can do more than just scare you. Next, we'll head to the other side of the world to the Azores.  High above a volcanic crater on São Miguel, an abandoned luxury hotel looms out of the fog  - a five-star dream that collapsed almost as soon as it opened. Visitors today report footsteps in empty hallways, voices in stairwells, and the unmistakable feeling of being watched by something that never left. A little less exotic but equally as creepy, Lynze brings us a tale from Spokane. The story of an entity that has attached itself to a someone and still lingers close today. To wrap up, we go to a midwest county fair where two young friends get more than they bargained for at the fun house. Bad Magic Monthly Donation: This month, we are donating to the HALO Dental Network. This may sound familiar because this is our second time donating here. After all of these years of making various donations, HALO is the one and only charity we receive emails about on a monthly basis. We have been sending fans their way consistently since our last donation in 2022. We felt that if we were going to keep sending folks their way, we ought to help support their mission. The HALO Dental Network is dedicated to being the most impactful dental charity in the United States. Led by Dr. Brady Smith, HALO provides free dental care to underserved populations throughout the country. Dental services include dental implants, veneers, fillings, crowns and root canals. We are thrilled to be able to support their mission, once again. We have donated $11,230 while putting $1250 into the 2026 scholarship fund. I have been away from podcasting for a while, and this mix is long overdue. I am kicking off 2026 by returning with a joyful vibe, designed specifically for your listening pleasure. This isn't just a playlist; it's a handwritten letter in the form of sound. Welcome to "From My Hands to Your Ears." MrTD presents: Joyful Expansions.Every track on this 41-song journey was chosen with intention. Think of it as a musical storyboard—a narrative built not with words, but with basslines, rhythms, and soul-stirring vocals. The story begins with a grounding affirmation from Jordi Cabrera, setting the stage for a deep dive into the essence of House. I've carefully pieced together a progression that moves through the spiritual highs of Chris Forman and Stephanie Cooke, the timeless energy of Kerri Chandler, and the intricate, jazzy landscapes of Glenn Underground. Each transition is a new chapter, designed to take you further into the vibe. This mix is a labor of love, a personal offering meant to be experienced from start to finish. It's a sanctuary I've built for you out of sound. So, tune in, trust the journey, and let this story wash over you.1. Jordi Cabrera, Bumi Thomas - I Am Soul2. This week on Xbox Expansion Pass, we break down the Xbox Developer Direct 2026 and what it tells us about Xbox's near-term future. We dig into Forza Horizon 6's Japan setting, release date, and controversial $120 Premium Edition pricing, and then pivot to a deep dive on the Fable reboot — combat, morality systems, NPC simulation, and why this could finally be the RPG Xbox fans have waited two generations for. We also react to Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation, Double Fine's clay-brawler Kiln, and the wider 2026 slate including Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, State of Decay 3, and Clockwork Revolution. Along the way we talk Game Pass value with big third-party adds like Death Stranding Director's Cut and Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, plus how Xbox is handling $70+ pricing in a rough economy. In the back half of the show we answer a community question about which cancelled game we'd resurrect and who we'd want making it (yes, Scalebound and StarCraft: Ghost show up), touch on Arc Raiders' surprise success, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade coming to Xbox with a limited Play Anywhere bonus, and share a few thoughts on Riot's 2XKO, cross-media crossovers like Stranger Things in Dead by Daylight, and the future of Xbox on PC and handhelds. Clear takes. No console-war noise. Xbox-forward discussion hosted by Luke Lohr (Insipid Ghost) and Captain Logun. HALO Talks

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 20, 2026 26:40

On this episode of HALO Talks, host Pete Moore sits down with Chris Rotondi, franchisee of a Serotonin Center in Greenwich, Connecticut. From his early days as the 13th employee at Shift4 to his foray into the HALO (Health, Active Lifestyle, Outdoor) space, Chris talks about his entrepreneurial path and passion for biohacking, longevity, and helping others transform their lives. Listen now as Pete and Chris discuss the hard truths behind starting and scaling a HALO business, the importance of authentic local marketing, and the unique advantages (and sometimes challenges!) of joining a strong franchise network. Whether you're interested in the business side of wellness, new trends in anti-aging, or just enjoy hearing candid stories from the front lines of entrepreneurship, this episode delivers plenty of insights and takeaways. (And if you missed it, we interviewed Seratonin Center CEO Eric Casaburi a while back. Link down below.)  On expanding within a franchise, Rotondi states, "After your first store it gets a lot easier to take where you are in that first location, and start the second one from that same level, rather than going back and having to relearn all those rookie mistakes that maybe you made when you first opened." Key themes discussed Chris's inspiration to open a Serotonin Center. The importance of word-of-mouth and community marketing. Challenges and rewards of operating a franchise. The evolving mainstream acceptance of biohacking and longevity practices. Collaborations and partnerships with local businesses for mutual growth. Scaling, staffing, and operational complexities in health franchises. A Few Key Takeaways:  1.Entrepreneurial Path & Inspiration: Rotondi shared how his extensive experience at Shift4, where he was surrounded by entrepreneurs and watched a company scale from startup to IPO, inspired him to eventually strike out on his own. This not only shaped his mindset but also gave him the confidence and motivation to take the leap into business ownership. 2. Choosing Serotonin Centers Was a Passion Play: Rather than conducting an exhaustive analysis of possible business options, Chris says that he was immediately drawn to Serotonin and felt a strong alignment with the concept. He dabbled in real estate but realized he needed a business that delivered a tangible positive impact—and found that in the HALO space. 3. Transformative Results Make the Business Rewarding: The most fulfilling aspect of running the center is seeing noticeable transformations in clients—whether it's 35-40 pounds of weight loss or improved health outcomes. These stories not only validate the mission but also create infectious momentum through word of mouth. 4. Franchising as a Strategic Advantage: Rotondi also emphasizes the value of being part of a franchise system, especially in a highly regulated, evolving industry like health and longevity. The franchisor provides critical infrastructure, best practices, and ongoing support, allowing franchisees to scale faster and avoid common pitfalls that solo operators might typically face. 5. Local Networking & Authentic Marketing Are Key: For growth, Chris focuses on the importance of networking and building authentic relationships in his local market (Greenwich, CT). Word of mouth remains king, and collaborations with other health and wellness businesses (like co-branded menu items with nearby cafés) drive new client acquisition and community engagement. On this episode of HALO Talks-FastBreak, host Pete Moore welcomes University of Georgia student and public health major Ethan Bezner for a transparent conversation about tackling today's greatest health issues—loneliness, obesity, and diabetes. Bezner shares his motivations about why he dove into research around early onset type 2 diabetes, exploring risk factors like sedentary lifestyles, processed foods, and our evolving relationship with fitness. The conversation steers into into the reality of the public health system as Ethan recounts stories from his time as a clinic phlebotomist, where systemic education gaps and real-life challenges come to light. They also discuss the role of government and food manufacturers in transparent labeling, and debate the best ways to reach younger generations, whether through books, social media, or a combination of both. Listen now for a look at the factors shaping public health today and the future leaders working to solve them. Some key takeaways: 1. The lifestyle-disease connection is real: Bezner's research spotlights how technology-driven sedentary habits, ultra-processed food consumption, and reduced physical activity contribute to the rise in early-onset diabetes. 2. Education (and transparency) matter: There's a huge gap in understanding food labels and health risks. Both policy makers and manufacturers must do more to provide honest, accessible information. 3. Hands-on perspective: Working with patients facing real barriers (like income and access to healthcare), Ethan sees first-hand how education, empathy, and community-driven solutions are critical to make things happen. Kudos to him for waving the HALO flag high and representing the next generation of health leaders!

In this episode of EMS One-Stop, Rob Lawrence is joined by his own Medical Director, Dr. Maia Dorsett, to unpack the 2025 NEMSQA Measures Report — a deep dive into trauma-focused quality measures built largely from NEMSIS data. Dr. Dorsett frames the discussion around the central aim of quality improvement: Are we doing a good job? Are we delivering the best possible care? How do we get better? From pediatric vital signs to traumatic brain injury (TBI) fundamentals, she walks listeners through what the report reveals, what it can't reliably measure yet, and why some of the “sexy” procedures are too rare to serve as useful system-wide metrics. The conversation highlights a recurring theme: fundamentals matter most. Dr. Dorsett explains how measures like complete vital signs and avoiding secondary brain injury in TBI (hypoxia, hypotension, hyperventilation) can drive meaningful outcomes — even during relatively short prehospital intervals. She also points out where current measurement approaches unintentionally create documentation burden for clinicians, arguing that systems should do more of the “figuring out” (like trauma center designation and prenotification capture) without requiring extra clicks. The episode closes with a call to action: anyone can join NEMSQA, contribute to the work, and help shape what EMS quality measurement becomes next. Memorable quotes from Dr. Maia Dorsett “I think the most fundamental question in quality improvement is, are we doing a good job?” “I think part of the value of this report is specifically looking at those things and saying what should we be measuring using NEMSIS data or how should things be integrated into that database so that the answers are there rather than needing to be documented on each individual case?” “If there's one thing that you're going to take away from this trauma report is that, the sexy stuff is important, but it happens rarely. And if you want to improve care in your system, it's about the fundamentals of good care.” Additional resources NEMSQA 2025 Report Release EMS One-Stop: Leading through momentum: Dr. Douglas Kupas on steering NAEMSP Episode timeline 00:31 – Rob welcomes listeners; introduces the 2025 NEMSQA measures discussion and notes prior episode with Dr. Jeff Jarvis 01:10 – Dr. Dorsett joins; holiday surge discussion and flu impact on EDs and admissions 03:08 – Dr. Dorsett explains her role as co-chair of NEMSQA's Measure Analysis and Research Committee; trauma focus of the 2025 report; pain measures not included due to active research 05:00 – NEMSIS scale and opportunity: extracting meaningful measures from a massive national dataset 05:35 – Dr. Dorsett on what NEMSIS measures well vs. what it shouldn't force clinicians to document (system should determine trauma center status) 07:46 – “HALO procedures” table: why rare interventions shouldn't become national quality measures 10:17 – Trauma 08: complete vital signs; pediatric gap (adults ~93% vs pediatrics ~85% in discussion) 14:22 – TBI measures: preventing secondary brain injury; why fundamentals outperform “sexy” fixes; correction rates for hypotension/hypoxia discussed 21:39 – Trauma 04: trauma triage criteria and transport to trauma centers; why national measure looks low; documentation field limitations 24:17 – State collaboration comparison: using state trauma center designation data shifts performance dramatically (often 75–90%+ in examples) 26:55 – Trauma 14: hospital prenotification; importance and measurement challenges (multiple modalities, inconsistent capture) 30:01 – Rob raises operational/policy concerns about trauma alerts and incentives; Dr. Dorsett adds nuance about local criteria variation 33:22 – Closing: Dr. Dorsett's “fundamentals matter” takeaway; impact at scale 34:44 – Dr. Dorsett plugs joining NEMSQA as an individual/agency; committees are open 35:31 – NAEMSP Tampa preview; Dr. Dorsett: “The people” are why she goes — leaves energized with new ideas Enjoying the show? Tremendous Opinions

When consulted last week by a childhood buddy of mine, I was chosen as acting consigliere for his line of inquiry concerning the beginnings of a record collection and turntable area for his home. My response was to show him my setup on FaceTime and proceed to flip through examples that would pull the heart strings. The Mike Jones clean album sampler, Paul Wall People's Champ, Dem Franchise Boys promo album. Things of this nature. Which looking back now, I really wish I featured those and some others on this installment. I did manage to find Chamillionaire's album for $20 recently, worth a lot more on online, and it sounds great. I might just have to blast a 2000's Hip Hop eppy for next install. This buddy of mine that called isn't just anybody. He is the most reliable point guard that I ever played organized basketball with and he is the person that showed me BTSTU by Jai Paul for the first time while playing Halo 3 at my first apartment when I was 18. Super sick inside baseball. Yoshinobu Yamamocheese. I am a middle aged man that went to a Pokemon card show TWO times in one weekend. My love life is in complete shambles and boring me to tears. I did manage to flip $80 into a $600 collection in two days so oooooweeeeee I'm on fire and we don't need no wata. As always, thank you for choosing to click on my radio show type of thing we got going on over here now. I may bust out an episode next week or I may slow roll it and go into a cocoon until the spring. Who knows and who gives a flying rip besides Keisha. That Scarface '83 Promo cost $100 that could've gone to my Pokemon collection so I hope somebody enjoyed it. It was cold when I bought the album, I got home, put it on and I smiled so hard that my lips split really bad and cracked in multiple places. So what. 🧭 REBEL Rundown 📌 Key Points 🧠 We don’t know what we don’t know: Low experience can inflate confidence; true expertise usually brings humble certainty.🏥 ED relevance is universal: From central lines to transvenous pacing, over- or under-confidence shows up at every level—intern to seasoned attending.🧩 Metacognition matters: Accurate self-assessment is a clinical skill; reflection + feedback loops keep us calibrated.🛠️ Practice beats bravado: Skill decay is real; deliberate practice and HALO (high-acuity, low-occurrence) refreshers protect patients.🤝 Psychological safety ≠ niceties: “Confident humility” enables questions, feedback, and better resuscitation decisions—especially under uncertainty. Click here for Direct Download of the Podcast. 📝 Introduction Welcome to REBEL MIND—Mastering Internal Negativity during Difficulty. In this series, we turn the same critical lens REBEL EM uses for literature inward—into mindset, leadership, and psychological safety—so we can deliver better care outward to patients and teams. In this episode and blog post, hosts Mark Ramzy and Kim Bambach (Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, The Ohio State University) explore a deceptively simple question: How accurately can we assess our own performance? The answer hinges on a classic cognitive bias that touches all of us in emergency medicine. 🧾 Paper Kruger J, Dunning D. Unskilled and unaware of it: how difficulties in recognizing one’s own incompetence lead to inflated self-assessments. J Pers Soc Psychol. 1999 Dec;7 PMID: 10626367 Cognitive Question How accurately can we assess our own performance? 💭 What is the Dunning-Kruger Effect? The Dunning–Kruger Effect is a cognitive bias where:Lower-skill individuals tend to overestimate their competence, andHigher-skill individuals often underestimate theirs.Translation for the busy clinician: early on the learning curve, confidence spikes (“Mount Stupid”) because we don’t yet see the complexity. As experience accrues, confidence dips (“Valley of Despair”) with growing awareness, then rises again—grounded in nuance and humility.Key insight: True expertise ≠ louder certainty; it’s often quieter, more curious, and more collaborative. How It Applies to the Emergency Department Procedures (e.g., central lines, TVP): Watching a 5-minute video creates “I got this” energy—until the wire won’t pass, the patient thrashes, or you hit carotid. Competence includes troubleshooting in context.Skill Decay is Inevitable: If you haven’t done a chest tube or a TVP in months, you’re not as sharp as last time. Without deliberate refreshers, you drift below the safe-performance line.Everyone’s a Novice Somewhere: New disease entities, evolving algorithms, new tools (POCUS, decision support) mean even attendings routinely re-enter novice zones.Feedback Blind Spots: Lower performers can both overestimate their skills and resist feedback—while many high performers (particularly women, per discussed literature) undervalue their abilities.Culture is Clinical: The ED demands decisive action amid uncertainty. Psychological safety + confident humility lets teams surface alternative diagnoses, challenge momentum, and correct course fast. ⏩Immediate Action Steps for Your Next Shift Run a 60-second debrief on two casesWhat went well? What would I do differently next time? Write one improvement you’ll test today.Play “What if the opposite were true?”Anchored on “lumbosacral strain”, Ask, What if fever/incontinence appears? How does that change my path?Solicit 360° micro-feedbackAsk a nurse, resident, and peer: “One thing I did well; one thing to improve.” Say “thank you,” not “but.”Schedule a HALO refresher this weekPick one high-acuity, low-occurrence procedure (TVP, cric, thoracotomy). Do a 10-minute mental model + equipment walk-through; book sim time if available.Adopt a pre-procedure pauseIf X goes wrong, I’ll do Y. Name two likely failure modes (e.g., “wire won’t advance,” “delirium/agitation”) and your first corrective step.Language shift on shiftSwap “I’m sure” → “I’m reasonably confident, here’s my plan B.” Invite input: “What am I missing?” Conclusion The Dunning–Kruger Effect isn’t a moral failing; it’s a predictable human pattern that every clinician rides—often multiple times per day in the ED. The antidote is metacognition: routine reflection, explicit debiasing, deliberate practice, and feedback within a psychologically safe culture. 🚨 Clinical Bottom Line Competence is quiet and curious. On this episode of HALO Talks, host Pete Moore welcomes Dr. Joey Munoz, a leader in the world of fitness and nutrition, straight from Tampa by way of Miami. Joey shares his transformation from an overweight teenager to earning a Ph.D in nutritional sciences, and explains how education and mentorship shaped his evidence-based approach to health. They dive into the evolving landscape of the HALO sector, discuss the confusion that many face around nutrition labels, and stress the importance of taking ownership of your health through education rather than relying on the latest "hacks," "latest diet," or supposed "quick fixes."  Munoz also opens up about founding Fit For Life Academy, his commitment to helping everyday people—not just athletes—build sustainable, enjoyable health habits, and the crucial role accountability plays in making lasting changes. Whether you're a fitness pro, operator in the space, or just beginning your wellness journey, this episode is packed with actionable insights and inspiration to help you take charge of your nutrition, fitness, and overall well-being. On taking control of your own health, Munoz states, "I think education is one of the most powerful things, and educating ourselves is one of the most powerful things that we can do to have clarity and to not feel confused around things like food labels, what foods to eat, and what foods not to eat." Key themes discussed Evolution of fitness and nutrition industry. Importance of education in health decisions. Personal journey and mentorship experiences. Decoding and interpreting food labels. Role of accountability and coaching. Building sustainable, enjoyable health habits. Impact of modeling healthy behaviors for kids. A Few Key Takeaways:  1.The Power of Education Over Regulation: Joey and Pete discuss the confusion around food labels and nutrition advice. Munoz emphasizes that while more transparency from food companies would be great, real power lies in personal education and taking agency over our own behaviors. Teaching people how to interpret labels and understand nutritional priorities is central to his approach. 2. Mentorship and Evidence-Based Practices Matter: Joey also credits his development to powerful mentors and his education in nutritional sciences, highlighting the impact of Dr. Lane Norton in particular. He's built his coaching philosophy around an evidence-based approach and mentorship, focusing on practices that are scientifically sound and genuinely effective. 3. Focus on Sustainable, Enjoyable, and Personalized Health: A defining theme in Joey Munoz's work is helping clients make meaningful changes that last, without sacrificing mental health for physical progress. He's adamant that fitness and nutrition programs should fit into a person's lifestyle and be both sustainable and enjoyable—moving away from overly restrictive, yo-yo dieting patterns. 4. The Critical Role of Accountability in Lifestyle Change: Both Pete and Joey also reflect on how accountability, whether to a coach or a community, is a game-changer for building consistency and forming healthy habits. Munoz notes that accountability acts as a bridge until desired actions become habitual and part of one's identity. 5. Modeling Healthy Habits for Future Generations: The conversation wraps up by touching on the importance of parents not just lecturing kids about nutrition and fitness, but modeling those behaviors on their own. Joey states how involving his own children in workouts and celebrating healthy choices can be more effective than simply just telling them what to do. Taking it for as pain for the first time in almost 15 years was a blast, and while I (ironically) the the Big Daddy mechanic falls a little flat, I still can't get enough of the world of Rapture.Ye olde Tylet is helping me close out the year by talking about killing crazy people with drills and singing the praises of genius Andrew Ryan's world of Rapture. Episode Overview In this timely and thought-provoking episode of the John Kitchens Coach Podcast, John Kitchens is joined by returning guest Eric Post, AI strategist, founder of Huzi.ai, and one of the sharpest minds at the intersection of technology, consumer behavior, and real estate. This conversation goes far beyond "how to use AI." John and Eric unpack the real threat and opportunity in the market today: the AI-powered consumer. As consumers gain instant access to information, agents can no longer win by being the knowledge holder. Instead, success now belongs to the wisdom worker—the advisor who brings clarity, discernment, experience, and trust. They explore how the internet has shifted from a place of search to a place of conversations, why SEO alone is no longer enough, and how agents must rethink branding, content, leadership, and customer experience to stay relevant in 2025 and beyond. This episode is a masterclass in AI, leadership, consumer psychology, and designing unforgettable client experiences in a rapidly changing world. Key Topics Covered The Rise of the AI-Powered Consumer Why the #1 consumer complaint is no longer lack of communication—but "I know more than my agent" How AI has shifted the internet from search to conversation What it means when 90%+ of AI interactions never click through to a website Why Zillow is no longer the real threat—and what is From Knowledge Worker to Wisdom Worker Why memorizing contracts, stats, and processes is no longer a competitive advantage The difference between information and discernment How top agents win by understanding people, not just data Why "good enough" agents are the most vulnerable in an AI world Trust, Purpose, and the New Agent Value Proposition Defining your role when consumers already have the answers Why agents must become guides, not order-takers The importance of emotional intelligence, intuition, and presence How trust is built through personalization, not speed alone Content, Branding & Being Found in an AI World Why agents must start writing content for both humans and AI The difference between SEO, AEO (Answer Engine Optimization), and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) Why upstream life events (death, divorce, debt, downsizing) matter more than listing searches How to position yourself as the authority AI pulls from—not just another result Efficiency vs. Experience: Choosing Your Lane Why the "middle ground" is the most dangerous place to operate The difference between budget efficiency and premium experience Why memorable, designed client experiences create defensibility How "unreasonable hospitality" becomes the ultimate moat AI as a Force Multiplier (Not a Crutch) Why AI should augment thinking—not replace discipline How tools like Zi.ai, Spark Pad, and Halo help agents scale wisdom Using AI to clarify niche, ICP, and proprietary processes faster than ever The danger of letting AI lead instead of using it intentionally Resources & Mentions Huzi.ai – Purpose-built AI for real estate professionals Spark Pad – AI workspace for clarity, messaging, and strategy Halo – AI visibility and monitoring across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and more CoachKitchens.ai – Custom AI tools built for Agent to CEO operators The Empty Room by Eric Post – Manifesto on wisdom, creativity, and AI Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara Rick Rubin – Creativity, taste, and intuition references Final Takeaway AI isn't replacing real estate agents—but it is replacing average ones. In a world where consumers have instant access to information, the agents who win are those who bring wisdom, clarity, trust, and experience to the table. Speed and efficiency are now table stakes. Differentiation comes from insight, personalization, and the ability to guide people through complex, emotional decisions. As Eric Post makes clear, the future belongs to those who design memorable experiences, understand the AI-powered consumer, and intentionally evolve from knowledge workers into true advisors. "You can't compete with AI on speed or memory. You win by being human—by bringing wisdom, taste, and discernment." – Eric Post Connect with Us: Instagram: @johnkitchenscoach LinkedIn: @johnkitchenscoach Facebook: @johnkitchenscoach If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to subscribe and leave a review. Welcome to HALO Talks! In this episode, host Pete Moore sits down with Hewitt Tomlin, the entrepreneur behind Teambuildr—a software platform that's changing the game on how strength coaches and personal trainers deliver programming. Starting with a simple idea in college, Hewitt has built Teambuildr into a leading solution for gyms, coaches, and athletes, empowering thousands with better tools for training and performance. Together, they dive into the rapidly-evolving landscape of fitness technology, discussing the rise of strength training in gyms, the impact of AI on coaching, and how fitness pros are adapting to new ways of working in a post-pandemic world. From leveraging digital apps for personalized programs to building strong trainer-client relationships, this candid conversation uncovers what it takes to stay innovative in the fast-paced HALO sector. Tomlin also shares his passion for expanding athletic training into new markets specifically golf—with his involvement in DRVN, a fitness app aimed at merging athleticism with golf performance.  Key themes discussed Evolution of Teambuildr and fitness technology. Adoption of AI by strength coaches and trainers. Changing trends in club equipment, focus on strength. Personal trainers utilizing digital tools and apps. Balancing innovation vs. refining existing product features. Retention vs. impact as a measure of success. Entrepreneurial mindset and self-defined business goals. A Few Key Takeaways:  1.Evolution of Teambuildr and Fitness Tech: Hewitt shared the journey of Teambuildr—from its origins as a simple workout distribution platform for college strength coaches to its role as a robust SaaS solution that now supports thousands, not only in team sports but also across private gyms and brick-and-mortar facilities. 2. AI's Role in Coaching: The conversation highlighted how fitness software is rapidly moving from basic digitization (getting off Excel) to integrating AI. Early adopters among coaches are using AI as a "co-pilot" to enhance programming and audit workouts, freeing up more time to apply their expertise where it matters most. 3. Changing Attitudes Toward Training Technology: Tomlin also talked about the shift in the industry: while trainers were once skeptical about templates and AI-generated programs, there's now a broader acceptance of tech-driven best practices. Still, personalization and expertise remain key, especially for more seasoned coaches. 4. The Personal Trainer's Balancing Act: Independence vs Community: Post-COVID, many trainers tried going independent, but Hewitt noted the challenges of customer acquisition and scaling. Bigger box clubs like Lifetime offer access to a steady stream of potential clients and a sense of community, making them an attractive option for many trainers seeking sustained growth. 5. Founder Perspective: Success Isn't Just About Growth: The episode also touched on how Hewitt's vision as a founder goes beyond revenue metrics and external pressures. He values building loyal, long-term customer relationships, personal impact, and conversations with trainers and mentors over chasing aggressive growth targets influenced by VC funding.
