Episode 294: Do you have a hard time owning and blending all of the parts and pieces that make up you? If so, you're not alone. Many of us shut down the parts of us that we don't think are appropriate for the current situation we're in. We feel uncomfortable wearing red lipstick to the office. We feel shameful for having pics of our gurus on our desk for fear if someone sees them and thinks we're a weirdo. We hide our truest self, every single day. Here's the thing — doing the thing and being seen doing it, liberates you. And more importantly, it makes you more available to love and to be loved. More of you is available. By connecting to all of the parts and pieces that make you, you... you soften something in your body that simply becomes magnetic. Blending the feminine and masculine energies of who you truly are makes you electric. Because at the end of the day, it's YOU who thinks you're too snobbish. It's YOU who thinks too loud. It's YOU who thinks you're too intelligent. It's YOU who thinks you're the black sheep. The moment you realize those truths, you can't turn back. You all a sudden know that if you think that, then it is up to YOU to make a choice to change it. All a sudden you're responsible and everything is in your hands. This is where healing gets done — when you reveal a part of you that you've been hiding for all of these years. This episode will teach you how to own who you are and the importance of blending the "work" you with the "real" you. Show notes: Madelyn’s juicy, seductive ritual of letting pleasure lead her for 24 hours. Madelyn's favorite toy - her cervix wand: https://bit.ly/2SK5a5X Blending your energies — how can I be a feminine embodied creature while also running a masculine business? Why Madelyn is over the traditional business hustle and the discouraging feeling of overwhelm. “It’s up to me to allow myself to step back.” “Let your feminine heart - your yearning to let go, to run the show for a bit.” How to start training your masculine with meditation and breathwork. How to create harmony where you have a choice in what energy (masculine/feminine) you lead with. The reframe with feeling judged and how to release those stories that we tell ourselves. How to create more ownership to make a different, more empowering choice. Fun fact: Egypt is the #1 feminine country. The sobering thought that you are going to pass and how Madelyn uses it as the biggest motivating factor. “Any outward focus is you’re really trying to numb the inward experience.” More of you is available to love and be loved when you’re taking ownership of your desires. When you connect your heart to your yoni lips something softens in your body that is magnetic. How to become more available and open yourself to all the versions of you. “You can’t truly love all that life provides if you can’t love all that you provide.” “Everything is a reflection — start taking ownership of that reflection.” The Embodied Retreat with Jamie Wollrab: maddymoon.com/events Connect with Maddy: Facebook: https://facebook.com/moonfitness/ Instagram: https://instagram.com/madelynmoon/ Subscribe to the podcast on iTunes: http://maddymoon.com/itunes Download my Four Favourite Feminine Embodiment Practices: https://maddymoon.com/freegift

Grammy-nominated electronic producer Kaskade emerged as one of the most successful American progressive house DJs of the 2000s, pioneering the concept of Las Vegas residencies and selling out arenas across America. With his bright, uplifting dance anthems, he was a steady presence on the U.S. electronic charts into the 2010s with Top Ten releases that included chart-toppers Fire & Ice (2011) and Atmosphere (2013).Born Ryan Gary Raddon in Chicago, he spent his early days not only as a DJ, but also as an A&R director and record store owner. In the late '90s, he familiarized himself with the rapidly changing electronic music scene, eventually finding that house music was the subgenre he loved best. He DJ'ed in both New York and Salt Lake City, where he would first produce tracks released on his own tiny label, Mechanized Records. He also sold his music to John Elkins, A&R director for OM Records, who later hired Raddon to assist him at the label. By night, Kaskade spun at local clubs and by day helped kick-start the careers of many artists, including Ming + FS and soul-house act Soulstice. His own full-length recordings under the Kaskade moniker began with 2003's house-inflected It's You, It's Me. A soulful, more organic direction provided focus for the following year's In the Moment, and Raddon kept his name in the record racks by piloting editions in the San Francisco Sessions DJ series (as well as the label mix House of OM). He proved surprisingly dedicated to his production craft, releasing Love Mysterious in 2006, which placed on Billboard's electronic albums chart. That same year, he parted ways with OM and signed with Ultra.Arriving in 2008, Strobelight Seduction -- featuring production by Deadmau5 -- became his biggest commercial success to date, buoyed by the lead single "Move for Me." Released in 2010, Dynasty celebrated his new reputation with a parade of vocal features and a co-production with Tiësto. It also became his first LP to chart on the Billboard 200. That year, Raddon put together Electric Daisy Carnival, a mix showcasing artists on the bill for the inaugural dance music festival of the same name. The double-album Fire & Ice followed in 2011 and debuted in the Billboard Top 20. Featuring a production assist from Skrillex on "Lick It," the effort also included guest vocals from Neon Trees and Skylar Grey. Atmosphere arrived two years later and featured softer, more relaxed music along with vocals from Kaskade himself. After the 2014 compilation I Remember rounded up the best material from his years on Ultra, the DJ renewed his contract with the label and one year later released Automatic. The album featured guest appearances from Estelle, Galantis, John Dahlbäck, and K. Flay, and peaked on the Billboard Electronic chart at number two. In 2016, Kaskade joined Deadmau5 and Skylar Grey on the single "Beneath Me." The following year, he issued the Redux EP 002 (featuring LoKii, Mr. Tape, and Late Night Alumni), as well as the holiday-themed Kaskade Christmas. The DJ then joined Charlotte Lawrence for the 2018 single "Cold as Stone." His third installment of the Redux series arrived in 2019. Redux EP 003 presented a seamless mix featuring Felix Cartal, Gorgon City, and more. ~ L. Laundry and dirty dishes. So we don't do! This is a story you can relate to at one point in your life. Maybe you are sitting in that position today, wondering what to do and what not to do. Confusion is real life. Yet your desire for something different is real too. Why can't I decide? Why can't I just do what I need to do? Why can't I follow the program, it's only 8 weeks? What is one to do when your mind is too tired? Mental exhaustion is overtaking your every move and your thoughts. Your mind is foggy. You're just plain tired. It's not like you have an excuse for being tired. You haven't run a marathon or swam the Atlantic. You're just tired. Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact You might be thinking it has to do with something pivotal in your life. A major decision. A BIG presentation around the corner. A project that's required more of you. This mind tiredness is mental exhaustion. It doesn't have to come from major events in your life, even though it can. Mental exhaustion simply put is TOO MUCH! too many decisions too many commitments too many responsibilities too many demands too many distractions Too much of too many! There is no time for a break. No rest for the weary. All you do is keep pushing and pushing. And unfortunately, you push until a breaking point. The stress becomes too taxing on the body. Sleep is suffering; therefore rejuvenation and restoration of your mind and body is suffering too. Here you go. Too much of too many! Let me ask a weird question. What would happen if you stop doing the too much of too many? Well, if you are that Type A personality who has to do everything yourself or it won't be done right, you think the world will not be able to get along without you. But in all honesty, the world will go on. It's YOU that will have the issue! You cannot serve the ones you love if you are mentally and physically exhausted, not to mention spiritually exhausted too. You need to take a break. Bridge the G.A.P. The K.I.S.S. ~ Bridge the G.A.P.! When your mind is too tired, you are suffering from mental fatigue. This can show itself in: Physical fatigue. Your body feels tired. Lying down doing nothing is very appealing. Irritable and impatient. You are quick to react with a harsh tone of voice or get upset or angered easily. Hard to focus and concentrate. Distractions are more predominant in your day. You don't finish projects as easily. And decisions are the last thing you want to make. Take a deep breath for just a moment. Think back to a time where this was happening. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." ~ Philippians 4:6 G - Guard your heart and mind. Be careful how you allow yourself to tire. Growing weary puts an extreme about of stress on the mind and the body. Make time for sleep and rest. Use the word NO more often. Surround your heart that which lifts up. Feed your mind with goodness. A - Ask for help. You were not created to do life alone. Surround yourself with people who understand and support you. If you hang out with negative people who drain the life out of you, how will you have life? P - Pray and be present with thanksgiving. Be grateful even in the trials. Be grateful even in the good. "Bridge the GAP not with your greatness, but with God's faithfulness!" ~ Kristianne Wargo When your mind is too tired, God is telling you something. Be quick to listen and slow to speak. (James 1:19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.) You were not created to reach your dream in a day. You were create to day dream. Let God open and close the doors. Ready your mind, body, and spirit. "Bridge the G.A.P.!" There are some days that flood your blood with chaos and challenges when you feel like you can't even breathe. Have no fear; the old made new. Where is your heart today? What troubles you most? Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT For me, I find myself coming and going more than sitting and worshipping. Diving into God's word is not much on the radar. My well is dry. My bones are tired. My frustration meter is peaking too high. When we fill our days with the stuff of this world, we become distracted from God's priority for our lives. The distance is increased as we do things under our own strength. But yet we keep pushing through trying to solve the problems all by ourselves. And you wonder why you feel alone, tired, unhappy; the well dried up. This weekend, I made it a point to do something special for my husband. (Episode 1372) He has been wanting for some time now for me to hang pictures. I wasn't confident that I knew where I wanted the pictures placed. I kept playing with areas and locations. I the last thing I needed was more holes in the walls. However, yesterday I was brave! Out came the hammer, nails, stud finder, and lots of patience. Let the decorating begin! The first two pictures I hung-up were in our master bedroom. These pictures have been with us for at least 4 moves, I believe. But never did they hang in our bedroom. Well to my surprise, these pictures were the crowning glory for the bedroom. Just what the room needed to add that finishing touch. The old made new. The K.I.S.S. ~ The old made NEW! You see, we all have stuff from the past. Sometimes, we don't always know what to do with it. We try to bury it. We try to forget it. We try to create something different around it. But God can make it new! God can take you and make you new! "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17 It's an incredible reminder... The pictures I hung up have been through a lot. They've hung on many walls, high and low. They've been covered in paper and dust. A few bugs have even crawled on them. And even a few milk splatters. But with a little love and grace (what I call Heavenly grit), a new wall to hang upon, the pictures are made new. They are brighter than ever before. They make the room cozy and warm. The old made new. Where is your heart today? God only wants to make you new. By refreshing your soul so you can plow through this week with a joy-filled heart. By embracing the challenges before you even encounter them. By loving you right where you're at. What troubles you most? The distractions that keep you far from God's reach. REFLECTION: Where in your life do you need to take a chance on God giving Him permission to make the old new again? Psalm 51:10-12 10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Do you ever feel like everything around you is completely BLAHHH? Like you have no energy and life is like one long BORING dinner that never ends? Well then – it seems you are in need of a visit to an extraordinary place inside us called Colourland. In Colourland, everything is quite wonderful and electric with possibility (to say nothing of the tree hugging opportunities). We teach you to climb aboard your very own internal elevator and rise up and up and up. Each level gets more and more colourful … and guess what? It's YOU who controls all the action. Note: If you like this track, you'll love Calmland - same elevator, opposite direction! Helps build: capacity to move from states of boredom/low-energy/mild depression to states of increased happiness and optimism, increased self-awareness and emotional intelligence Suggested age range: 6-12 years old
Do you feel like you have so much energy you're going to explode? Are your parents or teachers pleading with you to please settle down? Well, my little friend, I do believe we must at least entertain the possibility that they have a point. FORTUNATELY, there is a quite amazing and very peaceful place inside us that we can visit called ... Calmland. It's really quite wonderful. Do you want to make a visit? Well then: we'll teach you to climb aboard your very own internal elevator and drop down and down and down. Each level gets calmer and calmer... and guess what? It's YOU who controls all the action. Note: If you like this track, you'll love Colourland - same elevator, opposite direction! Helps build: capacity to move from highly active and agitated states to more calm and settled states, increased self-awareness and emotional intelligence Suggested age range: 6-12 years old
Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Its Summer & I'm Rockin Out & Enjoying the Food, Travel & Weather My Guest This Week is Broadcast Radio Icon Jerry Blavat. He began his career as a 13 year old on the TV show Bandstand.Jerry is in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame & After over 50 years in broadcasting, STILL Rock Out Weekly on WVLT, online & at LIVE shows! In 1960, he started his own radio talk show on WCAM (AM), in Camden, New Jersey. (He won the show in a crap game). On a snowy night in mid January, pulling out a stack of records, he began entertaining listeners throughout the night, and the legend of "The Geator" was born. In the mid-sixties, reports had his audience at a half million teenagers per month. Much of Jerry's broadcasts in the early days were done on reel to reel tape. Recording the program in his garage studio, the tapes played while Blavat made personal appearances. In the mid-sixties, Jerry's broadcasts were also added for a time to the program schedule of WHAT. On that station, Blavat stated that he only made $18 a week ($1.50 per hour). Most of his audience didn't buy it, but it was true. The real money was at the hops, not on the air. However, Blavat knew he needed the airwaves to promote the appearances. In 1965, he produced and hosted his own TV show "The Discophonic Scene" on CBS' Philadelphia outlet WCAU-TV. From 1967-70, the show aired on WFIL-TV, Channel Six and was syndicated through Triangle Publications coast-to-coast in 40 markets. When the British Invasion came along, Jerry never became part of it. He didn't like format radio, never participated in it and has always been his own man. In 1966, Jerry said: "It had been hell during the Beatles reign, when there had been much pressure to get on the bandwagon. But I sensed that it just didn't have enough soul for my kids... So I finally gave in and played a few, and I got bombarded by phone calls saying 'Geator, what you doing, man?'" In April of 1972 he became one of the first on-air personalities on WCAU-FM, an oldies station. In 1987, Blavat moved to "Philly Gold Radio," WPGR. It became "Geator Gold Radio" in April of 1992 when Blavat purchased the station. Until this day, Jerry is seen on many local and national TV shows. He has been with PBS on their Doo Wop specials working with the show's producer, T. J. Lubinsky. When the shows aired locally over WHYY-TV, Jerry Blavat was the area's host. Throughout his career, Jerry has appeared on "The Tonight Show," "The Mike Douglas Show," "The Joey Bishop Show," "The Mod Squad," and "The Monkees." Jerry Blavat has appeared in feature films including "Desperately Seeking Susan," "Baby, It's You," and "Cookie." After WPGR, the Geator then built studios in Center City. He currently broadcasts his Cruisin' 92.1, WVLT. In 1998, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia's "Hall of Fame". He still owns his own nightclub called Memories in Margate, NJ He works at various clubs most nights & has a show yearly at the Kimmel Center. While many refer to James Brown as "the hardest working man in show business," the title should belong to Jerry Blavat, who said many years ago: "I may not be the best jock in the world, but I've got my own built-in excitement meter." I dont know what it is about this week. Maybe all of the amazing feedback from my friends that attended Agent 2021 last week. Maybe it was the recent 4 hour coffee chat with a local agent. Maybe it's hearing all of the horrible advice being spewed across social media in real estate groups. It might be the stories of agents running out of money and leaving the business after buying every short cut and shiny object available and not making it happen. All I know is during my prep for my upcoming class I am teaching on "Social Media Marketing 101" for Realtors I ran across a Gary Vaynerchuk key note where he discusses "EFFORT" . I play the clip in todays episode but here is the link to the full video...good shit! You should watch it!https://youtu.be/VbFJPsjAx28What we can learn from this clip and hopefully from my rant is that we as Realtors need to understand what makes those of us successful. Its not the tech, website, apps, CRM, or the car you drive. It's YOU! In this episode I also give a shout out to Neil Mathweg and Nate Smoyer for being recognized as 2 of the top podcasts for tech savvy real estate agents in 2019! If you are not following these guys you can find them and more like them at http://industrysyndicate.comIf you got some value out of today's show we would love it if you would subscribe and come back for more great info. If you like what we are doing and really want to show your support please give us a rating and a review, that would be awesome! In this episode we talk the Brit awards, Zayn's new It's You music video, and our current feelings about the 1D break! We also sort the boys into Hogwarts houses using the Official Pottermore Sorting Hat. What would each boy's favorite Hogwarts subject be? What job would they hold in the wizarding world? And which Quidditch position would each boy play? We are huge Harry Potter fans and combining 1D and HP is pretty much the best thing that could happen in our minds!
Gordano! Oh my OMG! It's YOU again! We haven't seen you since you did that 24 hours sponsored fistfightathon. You were such an aggressive judge that day. Good to see you in more sanguine mood. In an effort to keep you chipper, here's the Sorry Not in Service show from xxxxxxxx (pick a date, it really doesn't matter). This one's a tour de France! We've got social mis-steps, a gradual takeover of mainland Europe (careful now), a touching but also incredibly dis-tasteful eulogy, an enormous Pelican, the adventures of Will and his friend Norbert and blah blah blah, yadda, yadda, so on and so forth.... Just listen to it and write your own list of what's included. To listen to the version with all the pop music on it, go to mixcloud.com. THIS IS A PROMO SITE WHERE WE WILL BE SHOWCASING A SMALL NUMBER OF HOUSE MIXES. PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR MAIN HOUSE MUSIC MIXES SITE & SUBSCRIBE TO US THERE: http://dattrax.podomatic.com THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. dattrax: 'Electric City' is a tribute to the city we love and where we fell in love with house music, Toronto. A tribute to it's community of house music DJs, producers, promoters, club owners, everyone involved and the all the party people/ the dancers (included those of us who can't dance but love to ;) This is a tribute to the house we got into, grew into, grew up in and fell in love with each time we heard these tracks. A huge hi-five, hug and thank you to all the singers, producers and DJs that made and played these tracks!! 'Classic House' is a shifting definition... just depends on when you got into house and when those first 5-6 formative years were for you. For us tracks made in 1985-1996 are considered 'classic' but we started partying in 1990 and from 1990-1996 we were privileged to have heard and danced to the earlier tracks. For 'Electric City', I wanted to go for the 'what old is new again' intent, so it's not entirely a classic house mix because it contains some instrumental tracks that were created past '96 and I included covers and remixes of classics that had the same feel, had great sound quality and didn't care when those were actually produced. For the regular classics, sound quality was paramount also, but had to make exceptions for "Move" and "Music Take Me Up" because they are such wicked tracks (were my poor attempts at transferring my vinyl to digital). I'm sorry but on "Emotions Electric" was a CD version I bought at Sam The Record Man (sadly not in biz anymore)... back to my apology, I cranked the bass too much so... Over 5yrs ago, I wasted almost two months in the cracks of time between work and family recording a crate and a half (150 records) into my computer. Realised afterwards that because I had a crappy sound card the digitized tracks were flat sounding). After that Jim and I just started buying classics on beatport, traxsource, itunes and defected and probably 90% of the time the sound quality was excellent. Got a few classic tracks from friends like Eric Ling, Gene King, Devon Wills and Tyrone Solomon. Then Roberto Pinto told me about Discogs and all my classic house vinyl dreams are gonna coming true. We keep saying but bears repeating: "This is the best time for house music. Period!" As always, we hope you enjoy this mix and that it gives you that house feeling from head to toe. (If you were so inclined, then please donate any amount you'd like to with the paypal button to the right side of this site. We've had two donations in the last four years of operating this site, but hoping to set a record this year & you can be a part of that;) Listed are the 42 tracks in order and a few sentences about each: (Really want to give you a little history of our early journey) cover by FCL- "It's You" (2012) Original (1986) "It's You" by E.S.P. Love this acapella cover!! Thought this would be a great start to this mix. Don't have a good quality version of the original. A Guy Called Gerald- "Emotions Electric" (1988) DJ AKI from the warehouse days made me love this track, it's so beautiful. Bought it on CD many years ago and always wanted to put it on a mix. Murk (Oscar G & Ralf Falcon)/ Coral Way Chiefs *moniker- "Release Myself" (1992) First heard this at a warehouse party on Spadina Ave, south of Dundas St in Toronto's main downtown Chinatown. It was at a "PTS" party!! Peter, Tyrone & Shams dominated warehouse parties for a few summers. Tightest house djs. Shams actually played this track off of reel to reel!!!!!!!!!! Mixing from reel to reel to vinyl turntables- BADASS!! Bobby Konders- "The Poem" (1990) Jim & I first head this at 'RPM All Ages Sundays' DJ'ed by Matt C. Jim flipped out and bought his first house records the next day. Think we met weeks later both stomping like maniacs at the speaker bins. We were 16 and were like: "WHAT THE HECK IS THIS STUFF!! THIS MUSIC IS WICKED!!!" Satoshi Tomiie- "And I Loved You" feat. vocals by Arnold Jarvis (1990) This was a record from my very 1st record purchases. It was summer time and I walked into a record store on Yonge St., downtown called "Carnival" and met Tyrone Solomon (of PTS fame!). Nicest guy and bought Shades of Black's "SHADOWS" EP on some label called 'Intrigue', I think. Can't imagine how many times I've heard this beautiful record and at countless parties. cover by Phonique- "Feel What You Want" feat. vocals by Rebecca (2012) Original (1994) by Rob Dougan & Rollo Armstrong & Kristine W (also featuring her vocals) Jim bought doubles of the original Kristine W. We were crammed into his bedroom when he 1st played it for me- I FLIPPED OUT!! Jim loved phasing doubles and then playing them purposely slightly off beat- sounded wicked!! Now you can do it with a 'delay' effects button. He made a mix on cassette tape, then we went downtown looking for a warehouse party. Love this cover done by Phonique and Rebecca, they keep the original feel but brought a freshness to this timeless vocal track. M.A.W.- "I Can't Get No Sleep" remixed by David Morales (1995) First time I heard this was at a warehouse party near Wellesley St., around 6am, after working nightshift at 7West Cafe. Vince Ailey's friend was DJing. Can't remember his name but was a towering spanish guy, great guy. The way he expertly slowly drifted these two minutes of drum intro into the last song. I was dancing non-stop and when that India vocal came in- WOW!! Tommy Musto- "Take Some Time Out" feat. vocals by Arnold Jarvis (1987) This vocal still gives me goosebumps!! Was a fav at many warehouse jams! remixed by Bush II Bush- "You're Gonna Miss Me" (2007) Original by Turntable Orchestra – "You're Gonna Miss Me" (1988) Love the original the best but don't have a clean, good quality digital copy and my vinyl's all scratched up. This is a really good remix bringing modern day tight, bright sounds to this classic vocal. Bang The Party- "Bang-Bang You're Mine" (1990) First time I heard this was at my pal, Moses' house, we were wrecked and he was mixing this and Fingers Inc tracks. We were all 16yrs old and couldn't believe this house music stuff!! cover by Xakosa- "Miss Me" feat. vocals by Kenny Thomas (2013) Original by Turntable Orchestra – "You're Gonna Miss Me" (1988) This is such a good cover with a jackin' beat, had to include also even though played another version already. Back in the day, DJs like AKI and PTS would tease you by playing parts of a track, 5-6 times during the night- just a sliver, a few beats each time, just enough of a hook. That's how they broke tracks! By the 5th time, everyone was so excited that the whole room was bouncing with hands in the air! Bobby D'Ambrosio– "Moment Of My Life" feat. vocals by Michelle Weeks (1997) This is one of the most uplifting vocal house tracks out there! Michelle Weeks baby!! Man, there are probably 250 classic house tracks I'd love to put in mixes if I only had clean digital versions. One can dream. M.A.W.- "I Get Lifted" feat. vocals by Barbara Tucker remixed by John Ciafone (1994) Don't know a house dj worth his salt that doesn't have two dozen Masters At Work vinyl records. Priceless track. Feelin' this? Masters At Work or M.A.W.(Little Louie Vega & Kenny Dope Gonzalez)- "I Can't Get No Sleep" feat. vocals by India (1993) Had to include the original. First time we heard this was years before that David Morales remix played earlier. We were at "Kat Klub", just south west of Church St & Queen St E. Kevin Williams, rubbed the celophone cover off of the record on his jeans and SLAMMED this down. He could MIX!! Kevin was actually the first LIVE house DJ i had heard at 16 at "GO GO's", in the 'White Room' on Richmond St & Duncan. He BURNED through records with fast change ups. At the end of the night, Jason Palma said there was a STACK of records in a pile beside him OUTSIDE of their sleeves!! He mixes with a frenzy! Jason told that story and I felt it on the dance floor but wasn't privy to the DJ booth ; ) I got in with my cousin's 21yr old ID, I guess since every Chinese guy at that time looked the same ; ) Great for me! Thompson & Lenoir (LNR)- "Can't Stop The House" (1987) LNR, same guys that made the warehouse classic "Work It To The Bone"!! Wish I had a clean copy of that! First time Jim and I heard this was at 616 Yonge St., around Wellesley. When AKI threw this down, we almost put our fists through the wall it was that exciting!! FLIPPED OUT! That's HOUSE MUSIC. Murk (Oscar G & Ralf Falcon)/ Liberty City *moniker– "Some Lovin'" (1992) I loved this track so much that for a whole summer, every warehouse I went to, I 'requested' this track. Drove AKI and the rest nuts. But this vocal was SOOOOOOO DIRTY!!! That MURK feel, those baselines!! Then we saw Liberty City perform it live at The OZ on Mercer St. Jestofunk-"Stellar Funk" remixed by Lazzaro (1997) This congo instrumental I played the crap out of back in the vinyl days, mixed it with dozens of different vocals. My personal policy is NEVER REPEAT a combo and it's brought joy to every situation. Great track!! Joe Smooth- "The Promised Land" feat. vocals by Anthony Thomas (1987) What this track does to you is HOUSE MUSIC. Beautiful in every way. Can listen to this and have listened to this OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Instrumental mix by M.A.W. (date?) M.A.W.-River Ocean– "Love & Happiness" (Yemaya Y Ochún) feat. vocals by India (1994) Jim bought doubles of this also and he played the crap out of it! Like a great dessert that's good with EVERY meal. Tracks like this make mixing so much fun because each new combo is a rebirth in emotions. Inner City- "Big Fun" (1988) was when original by Kevin Saunderson was made, but this remix was made in (2003) by Juan Atkins First time I heard this was at Focus on Joseph St around Wellesley. Nope not the 'Focus' at City Hall, that was before my time. Play a few bars and people go MENTAL on the dancefloor! Infectious. dub mix remixed by Soul Clap Raze- "Break 4 Love" (2011) vocal mix remixed by Soul Clap Raze- "Break 4 Love" (2011) Original (1988) Raze- "Break 4 Love" feat. vocals by Keith Thompson I LOVE EVERY VERSION of the original also, the full vocal, the instrumental bringing out this timeless baseline and the spanish female vocal version. Jim bought these remixes and I just lost it. Can't believe Soul Clap got the original vocal by Keith Thompson. They keep the original sounds but brought it to the current times. Like the beginning of the dub and didn't like the beginning of the vocal, so I mixed them together. The original is the best but will have to save for another time. remixed by Michel Cleis 'Floreo'(2010) original M.A.W.-River Ocean– "Love & Happiness" (Yemaya Y Ochún) feat. vocals by India (1994) Jim had double records of this original MAW vocal! This remix revived this track for us! Murk (Oscar G & Ralf Falcon)- "Tried So Hard" feat. vocals by Bobby Pruit (1993) This track reminds me of one of the 1st time I met Vince Ailey, a great Toronto House DJ & producer but back then he was one of the BADDEST dancers! And not that hip-hop dancing to house music crap, real house dancing. We were at a PTS party on Duncan, south of Richmond. The ceilings were low and sweat was dripping off it. That was nasty, but the MUSIC was so addictive, no one left till after 5am!! Kerri Chandler & Johnny McDougald- "Something Wrong" (1992) Killer track! Chandler is a brick layer, this is a foundation dub. New house lovers are gonna say "WTF??!!" Jim and I often wonder when we hear a wicked track.. 'how did they come up with this track? the ideas? the sounds?' We should start producing so we can make someone else think that. Hopefully soon... Fingers Inc. (Larry Heard, Ron Wilson & Robert Owens) – "Music Take Me Up" feat. vocals by Robert Owens (1985) My first exposure to house in a serious way was Fingers tracks, think over a dozen like 'So Glad', 'What About This Love', 'Distant Planet', 'A Path', 'Mysteries of Love, 'Can You Feel It' and the list is endless. Tracks got attention those days. We burned the grooves off these records!! Mondo Grosso- "Souffles H" remixed by M.A.W. (1995) How many MAW tracks in this mix?? Little Louie Vega & Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez are so sick!! How many house tracks copied their swing? Standing on the shoulders of Giants! Let it grow!! remixed by Tricky Disco- "Tricky Disco" (1990) Love this sexy sax mix! Didn't like this track till it wasn't being played any longer. Jaydee- "Plastic Dreams" (1992) This is an anthem with killer keys!! original M.A.W. & Lem Springsteen- "Nite Life" feat. vocals by Kim English (1994) remixed by Armand Van Helden (1994) Love this vocal!! All our fav house djs in the past played this track. Can't stop dancing to this. Blaze- "So Special" (1990) This was one of my first records and has so many great memories attached to it. Eddie Lewis & Kerri Chandler- "I Need You" feat. vocals by Kamar (1993) Nothing like seeing a smokey dark room with over a hundred people with hands in the air and singing along! House Karaoke!! Cajmere- "Brighter Days" feat. vocals by Dajae (1992) remixed by Karizma & DJ Spen (2011) Karizma smashed it with this remix!! He kept all the original elements and turbo boosted the thump of this gorgeous vocal! Dodha & DJ Spen- "Inrowd" (2013) This is not a classic instrumental but reminded me of the old days with it's feel and sound. Actually reminded me of Mateo & Matos' track "Raw Elements", gotta get that vinyl on Discogs! original Jay Williams, Nelson Roman & Rob Hanning- "Sweat" feat. vocals by Jay Williams (1990) JoJoFlores-Rmx (1999?) 'Sweat' reminds me of this club in North York, just outside of Toronto, but now part of the GTA (Greater Toronto Area). "Inner City" was a wicked club and one of the first to play house. And the dancers there were incredible!! It was that time when everyone got tailored dress pants made and they all had slight to ridiculous bell bottoms. But it seemed so cool at the time watching these guys dance. Jay Williams' vocals on this are legendary and JoJo made this killer remix that made this vocal alive again! Martin Solveig- "Afro Deep" (1999) This is not a classic track but I played the crap out of this congo instrumental. The house feel can be expressed in limitless ways. original Show Me Love feat. vocals by Robin S (1993) remixed by Steve Angello & Laidback Luke (2008) Jim played this remix for the first time at a party a few years ago and EVERYONE went bananas at a certain part near the beginning. You'll definitely KNOW when you FEEL it. Nightmares On Wax- "Aftermath" (1990) This reminds me of a dance my friends DJ'ed at at Jarvis Collegiate near Wellesley. That was a party and we were all into HOUSE and danced like crazy. My friend, Noel Nanton (AN INCREDIBLE HOUSE DJ & PRODUCER), got me into house at 16 and took me to go see Kevin Williams at GO-GO's and some friends had great friends at Jarvis Collegiate and we bonded with tons of house music. Scotti Deep/ Fathoms N.Y. *moniker- "Braniak" (1995) Jim and I went BONKERS when we heard this for the 1st time at a warehouse party. Think it was at the 4th and 5th on Richmond St. It was such a raw and techy bouncy charger! original Romanthony- "Bring U Up" (1995) remixed by Deetron (2011) I don't know how many Romanthony records we own but he made some great ones. God Rest his Soul. This remix by DeeTron brought this track back to the current state of affairs. Love remixes of classics that preserve the feel but make it fresh with higher quality of sounds. Fingers Inc.- "Bring Down The Walls" feat. vocals by Robert Owens (1986) Bought this digital copy from iTunes. Got every Fingers vinyl! This got so played out it almost sounded commercial. But for those who haven't heard it for years or for the first time- WATCH OUT. John Rocco- "Move" (1987) I first heard this at Jim's house, this was when FreeStyle + House was the sound. We got into it probably by '95. Best memory of this track live was when Kenny Glasgow, now famous 1/2 of Art Department, dropped this right from the beginning at The Wellington, on Wellington, south of Spadina & King St. Toronto history. Killer thumpin' intro. I never mix this track cause I want to hear that beginning. Most of the tracks in this mix bought from www.Beatport.com and www.Traxsource.com and www.Defected.com and iTunes, http://www.apple.com/itunes/ BTW... if you enjoy this mix, then there's a PayPal DONATE button on the top right side of this website... any amount would be appreciated ; ) For Toronto or Global bookings: dattrax@gmail.com This house mix made on Traktor S4 Controller & laptop with no sync applied, but mix was made multiple times with multiple failures. Hope you are forgiving and have fun listening.
Beyond April's Coachella 2013 podcast, it's been two full months since I've finished a 'cast with the tracks that I personally am really feeling the most. Although it's coming at the end of the month -- Memorial Day weekend to be precise -- I'm so excited for this line-up that I literally can't type the text fast enough to get it out. These are the tracks that I've been feeling the most emotional connection with these past couple of months. I think this mix is truly the best selection of songs I've ever put together and I'm so excited about it. It travels from some old school NYC house, to a bit of a Daft Punk-a-thon ... then heads into a bit of white boy EDM land, before emerging into some serious diva sould realness. It's a JOURNEY, it thrills me for the whole ride, and I hope it does the same for you too! So, throw "Spring Fling" on your iPod because I'm excited to get you movin'. I'm traveling a lot for work and family obligations over the next two months, so I've had to pass on some recent rounds of my regular DJ gigs in LA. Here's where you can catch me playing soon: June 8th - LA Pride Festival (6:35 - 7:35 PM .... followed by my DJ mother, Aaron Elvis, right after) June 9th - Chad Hudson Events' LA PRIDE at the Palihouse rooftop (10 AM - 3 PM) June 21st - Stripper Circus at Share nightclub, Las Vegas (EDC weekend!) June 30th - NYC Gay Pride, Shark at the Dream Downtown hotel July 13th - High Tea at the Hard Rock Hotel, San Diego Pride July 14th - Concrete Hero, LA Historic Park (fundraiser for APLA) July 19th - Stripper Circus at Share nightclub, Las Vegas July 21st - Size Sunday's at Here lounge, West Hollywood Without further delay, the "Spring Fling" (Soul) Tracklist: "Get Huh (Twisted)", Ellis D feat. J-Boogie Ryan "My House + Professional Widow + Bring Da Noise," Chuck Roberts vs. Tori Amos vs. Public Enemy "Feel the Groove," Cartouche "Blurred Lines (Justin Sane Bootleg)," Robin Thicke feat.
