FUN.December 3 2025 | Prime VideoCAST & CREW OF OH. WHAT. FUN.Michelle Pfeiffer as ClaireDenis Leary as NickFelicity Jones as ChanningChloë Grace Moretz as TaylorDominic Sessa as SammyJason Schwartzman as DougBRAN'S OH. WHAT. FUN. SYNOPSISMeet Claire Clauster. She believes it's time someone finally makes a movie about the real heroes of the holiday season: housewives. All she wants for Christmas is for her kids to submit her to the Zazzy Tims Holiday Moms Contest, so she can meet her favorite TV personality.Claire and her husband, Nick, are excited because all three of their kids—Channing, Taylor, and Sammy—are coming home for Christmas. Channing arrives first with her family. Sammy shows up next, heartbroken after his girlfriend dumped him right before the trip. Taylor arrives last… with her new girlfriend, DJ Sweatpants. We also meet Claire's neighbor, Jeanne, who appears to have the perfect family and is extremely prim and proper.Claire grows increasingly sad when she realizes none of her kids seem to have picked up on her very obvious hints (and direct requests) to submit her for the Zazzy contest. When the whole family leaves without her to attend a Christmas show, she snaps. Claire packs up and decides to drive to California to find Zazzy herself. This sparks an all-out family meltdown. Arguments explode, feelings get hurt, and everyone storms off in different directions.Claire ends up at a hotel where only one room is available. Another woman arrives at the same time, so they agree to share—but the noise is unbearable. Claire opts to sleep in her car… which promptly gets towed. Undeterred, she buys a random car for $300 and continues her journey to California.Against all odds, Claire sneaks onto the show with the winning moms, dances with Zazzy on stage, and vents about her kids on national television. Zazzy loves her and invites Claire backstage. They drink, they smoke, and they have the time of their lives.Seeing this, the family hops on a plane to California, and Zazzy invites the entire family onto the show. At first, Claire refuses to forgive them—but eventually, she gives in.One year later, the family is spending Christmas together in a cabin. The neighbors across the street are there too, because Sammy is now in love with one of their daughters.
fWotD Episode 3178: Batman Returns Welcome to featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia's finest articles. The featured article for Friday, 16 January 2026, is Batman Returns.Batman Returns is a 1992 American superhero film directed by Tim Burton and written by Daniel Waters. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, it is the sequel to Batman (1989), also directed by Burton, and the second installment in the Batman film series (1989–1997). The cast includes Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, Michael Gough, Pat Hingle, and Michael Murphy. Set during Christmas in Gotham City, the film follows Batman (Keaton) as he confronts corrupt businessman Max Shreck (Walken) and deformed crime boss Oswald Cobblepot / the Penguin (DeVito), whose bid for power threatens the city. Their schemes are further complicated by Shreck's former secretary Selina Kyle (Pfeiffer), who seeks revenge against him as Catwoman.Burton was initially uninterested in directing a sequel to Batman, feeling creatively constrained by Warner Bros.' expectations. He agreed to return only after being granted greater creative control, which included replacing original writer Sam Hamm with Daniel Waters and reuniting with many of his previous collaborators. Waters's script emphasized characterization over plot, and Wesley Strick was later hired for an uncredited rewrite that added, among other elements, a master plan for the Penguin. Filming took place from September 1991 to February 1992 on a budget of $50–80 million, primarily on sets and soundstages at Warner Bros. Studios and the Universal Studios Lot in California. The film's special effects relied mainly on practical techniques and makeup, supplemented with animatronics, limited computer-generated imagery (CGI), and dozens of live penguins. The film's marketing campaign was extensive, featuring brand tie-ins and merchandise intended to replicate the financial success of Batman. Released on June 19, 1992, Batman Returns broke several box-office records and grossed $266.8 million worldwide, becoming the sixth-highest-grossing film of 1992, but fell short of Batman in overall success and longevity. The darker tone, along with violent and sexual content, was cited as alienating family audiences and prompted backlash against marketing partners for promoting the film to children. Critical reception was polarized, though most reviewers praised the principal cast.Following the mixed reception of Batman Returns, Burton was replaced as director for its sequel, Batman Forever (1995), which was developed with a more family-friendly tone. Keaton also declined to return. In the years since its release, Batman Returns has been reappraised as one of the strongest Batman films and a pivotal early example of auteur-driven superhero cinema that helped shape the genre's darker, more ambitious direction. The film is also recognized as an alternative Christmas classic due to its winter setting, festive imagery, and themes of loneliness and isolation. Its story was revisited in the comic series Batman '89 (2021), and Keaton later reprised his version of Batman in The Flash (2023).This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:59 UTC on Friday, 16 January 2026.For the full current version of the article, see Batman Returns on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Bluesky at @wikioftheday.com.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm long-form Ruth.

New year, New show! This week we checked out a forgotten show called B.A.D. Cats. It's about two guys who used to be race car drivers and now are cops. At least I guess so, they never really explain it. The show also features Michelle Pfeiffer in one of her first starring rolls. There is a lot of car chases and some weird plot about stolen gold hiding in cars, but not really. Check it out!
Relive the wild ride of Grease 2 with actor Maxwell Caulfield, the man behind Michael Carrington, in this full episode of Still Here Hollywood with Steve Kmetko. Maxwell opens up about knowing early he was meant to act, his London roots, and the moment everything changed when he auditioned for Grease 2 and suddenly found himself stepping into a Hollywood spotlight that can make or break you. Maxwell shares what it was like working alongside a young Michelle Pfeiffer, why Grease 2 didn't hit the way the studio hoped at release, and how the movie later found its true life as a cult classic with a passionate fanbase. He also dives into the behind-the-scenes reality of movie-making, including a hilarious “Bike Heaven” moment that did not go how he wanted. Beyond Grease 2, Maxwell talks about his love of live theater and what the stage gives an actor that the camera never can, plus what he's working on now, including a one-man play centered on Pontius Pilate. And yes, we go there on the big career chapters too, from Hollywood momentum to TV fame, including his run on The Colbys and the long view of staying in the game. In honor of the late Rob Reiner we are looking at The Story of Us, the 74th highest-grossing movie of the year, finishing just ahead of earlier entry Blast from the Past. Opening #2 behind Fight Club on October 15th and going on to gross $59 million worldwide on a $50 million dollar budget. Starring Bruce Willis, Michelle Pfeiffer, Reiner himself, Rita Wilson, Julie Hagerty, Paul Reiser, and Tim Matheson, The Story of Us is one of Reiner's worst-reviewed movies, who, after an unbelievable run of movies in the late 80s and early 90s started running into trouble in the late 90s and early 2000s with the likes of this, Rumor Has It, and the aggressively sentimental and fluffy The Bucket List. Is The Story of Us as bad as critics said? Or does it belong alongside When Harry Met Sally, Reiner's romcom masterpiece that it goes so far out its way to evoke? We welcome Slate's Nitish Pahwa to discuss marriage, casting, bad writing, unnecessary monologues, and the greatness of Rob Reiner. Nitish is on Bluesky @nitishpahwa.com
Nikki Blonsky steps Behind The Rope. Nikki chats with us about what it was like to land the breakout role of Tracy Turnblad in the film version of the iconic Hairspray. We chat about all the details from the audition process, to the mind of John Waters to how life changed after the film came out and made her a household name. We also chat about some of the original film's stars such as Debbie Harry, Ricki Lake & Divine. On a more serious note, we discuss the pressures of being type cast in Hollywood, how Nikki found it hard to find work after Hairspray, the pitfalls of fame and the best and worst parts about “the business”. I don't know about you Miss Kitty, but Batman Returns is feeling so much gayer. This unofficial Christmas movie about the Penguin's rise, Catwoman's coming out and Bruce Wayne's need to come out all takes place around the holidays in Gotham, with a sabotaged tree lighting, a Christmas party under attack and cold soup by the fire one night in that fussy bachelor pad. Michelle Pfeiffer is the reason for the season as Selina Kyle in and out of the bodysuit, Danny DeVito goes to a 27 and back, Jan Hooks shows up just before that nose bite happens, plus we get PeeWee and Simone, best featured Ice Princess, Danny Elfman's score, the Hello There neon sign and a chest voice close to our hearts.Become a Matreon at the Sister Mary level to get access to Season 6 of Canada's Drag Race, plus brackets, movie reviews and past seasons of US Drag Race, UK, Canada, Down Under, Espana, Global All Stars, Philippines and more.Join us at our OnlyMary's level for our current recap of Season 4 of Drag Race plus even more movie reviews, brackets, and deep dives into our personal lives!Patreon: www.patreon.com/alrightmaryEmail: alrightmarypodcast@gmail.comInstagram: @alrightmarypodJohnny: @johnnyalso (Instagram)Colin: @colindrucker_ (Instagram)Web: www.alrightmary.com
Junk Food Dinner returns for our annual holiday celebration and this year we're feeling particularly nostalgic! Up first, The Muppets gang crashes at Fozzy's mom's house for the holidays and they're bringing all their friends, even the Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock crew, in the 1987 TV special A Muppet Family Christmas. Then, we revisit one of Sean's favorite holiday traditions; we see what movies and electronics film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert were recommending folks pick up in the Siskel and Ebert's 1990 Holiday Video Gift Guide! And finally, in the summer of 1992, one of biggest films was the blockbuster sequel Batman Returns. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton returned but this time Batman squares off against The Penguin (played by Danny DeVito) and Catwoman (played by Michelle Pfeiffer). But is it a Christmas movie? You bet your Batmobile it is! All this plus holiday cheer from our buddy Peter, tributes to some fallen heroes, Sean's epic new video mix tape and much more!LISTEN NOW:MP3 Direct DonloydAlso, if you like the show, please take a minute and subscribe and/or comment on us on iTunes, Stitcher, Blubrry or Podfeed.net. This week we're heading back to Tim Burton's beautifully dark and snow-covered Gotham City for the 1992 masterpiece, Batman Returns! We'll talk about Batman and the iconic villains, Catwoman and The Penguin. We'll discuss Danny DeVito's repulsive yet tragic characterization, Michelle Pfeiffer's electrifying transformation, and the Gothic, Christmas-time aesthetic that makes this sequel unforgettable. To honor the complexity and dark allure of the city and its feline anti-hero, we're mixing up The Gotham City Cat. Welcome to the Video Store Podcast. It's Christmas movie season but not everyone wants peppermint sweetness and cozy small-town charm. Some of us want our holiday movies filled with explosions, heists and a whole lot of chaos. This week on the Video Store Podcast, I'm spotlighting four Christmas movies that trade twinkling lights for trouble. Reindeer Games (2000)Reindeer Games is a crime thriller set days before Christmas. When Rudy Duncan (Ben Affleck) is released from prison his only goal is to get home for Christmas. But when his cell-mate dies, Rudy steps into the man's shoes to meet his mysterious and beautiful pen pal, Ashley (Charlize Theron). One bad decision later and Rudy is trapped in a violent casino-robbery plot run by Ashley's unstable “brother,” Gabriel (Gary Sinise). With no options, Rudy is forced deeper into the operation and nothing is what it seems as alliances shift and lies are uncovered. Reindeer Games brings crime, plot twists and holiday mayhem together in one memorable movie.Batman Returns (1992)Tim Burton's Batman Returns is set against a dark, gothic backdrop of Gotham City during the Christmas season. Batman Returns introduces two iconic villains who become the city's newest threats. The first is Oswald Cobblepot, The Penguin, a physically deformed man who was abandoned by his wealthy parents and raised in the city's sewers by penguins. The second is Selina Kyle, Catwoman, pushed to her limit by evil businessman Max Shreck.Michelle Pfeiffer is the definitive Catwoman, seductive, broken and electric in every frame. Danny DeVito's Penguin is a grotesque and disfigured man, a departure from the comics. Christopher Walken adds a sinister element as the businessman Max Shreck.Tim Burton's vision partnered with Danny Elfman's haunting score creates a mesmerizing Christmas classic set in Gotham City. The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)Samantha Caine (Geena Davis) lives a quiet life as a schoolteacher until a car crash triggers memories of her past life as a deadly government assassin.Samantha hires private detective Mitch Hennessey (Samuel L. Jackson) to help her uncover her past and together they set out to find the truth. Their adventure is full of gunfights, treachery, and some of the best buddy-dynamic chemistry of the '90s. Davis transforms from warm suburban mom to hard-boiled operative with shocking believability and Jackson delivers one of his funniest, most charismatic roles.Written by Shane Black and directed by Renny Harlin, The Long Kiss Goodnight mixes holiday atmosphere with espionage to create one of the 90's most underrated action movies.Lethal Weapon (1987)Lethal Weapon redefined the buddy-cop genre and set the standard for all future buddy-cop movies. Set at Christmastime in Los Angeles, the movie pairs veteran detective Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) with newcomer Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson). Their investigation into a young woman's suspicious death spirals into a violent clash with drug traffickers and the psychotic Mr. Joshua (Gary Busey).Lethal Weapon is full of heart, which is what you want in a Christmas movie. Riggs who is spiraling out of control from grief and Murtaugh, a grounded family man, form a bond that is convincing from start to finish. Also written by Shane Black, Hollywood's king of Christmas action movies and directed by Richard Donner, Lethal Weapon blends holiday themes with explosive action, dark humor, and iconic one-liners. Lethal Weapon is on of my favorite Christmas action movies. If you're looking for Christmas movies that are filled with action, these four belong at the top of your December movie list. Thanks for visiting the Video Store. This week Andrew and Ted discuss Prime Video's original holiday feature presentation starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloë Grace Moretz, Denis Leary, Felicity Jones, and Dominic Sessa. Claire (Pfeiffer) and Nick (Leary) are hosting a family Christmas for their two daughters and son. Leading up to the event Claire has been hinting to her children that all she wants for Christmas is to be nominated, by them, as mother of the year on her favorite daily talkshow "The Zazzy Tims Show". Zazzy played by Eva Longoria. After spending days cooking, cleaning, and planning the family inadvertently leaves Claire at home as they go to the Christmas program she arranged. This "forgetfulness" triggers Claire as she jumps into her car and heads to California from their Texas home to go watch "The Zazzy Tims Show" in person. The family discovers where she has taken off too after watching her on the "Zazzy Tims Show". At that point they realize their selfishness and look to right the wrong. Tune into the show to find out if Andrew and or Ted think "Oh. What. Fun." will become a holiday classic.
Send us a textRemember Batman Returns starring Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Christopher Walken & Michelle Pfeiffer. Sure, you do. It ushered in a whole era of men wanting their girlfriends or wives to dress up as Catwoman, and it didn't even have to be Halloween. Well, this one takes place over the Christmas Holidays, so we're picking it as a Holiday Film. With an all-star cast, Tim Burton returning, we are signing up to watch '90s Batman fight the Penguin and Catwoman during the Holiday Season, and we'll see if this is a nostalgic gift under the tree or a lump of coal in the stocking. ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED 12/9/22 We celebrate Christmas with Dan's choice this year (though to be honest, it's a mutual love.) It's time for Tim Burton's "Batman Returns" starring Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer, Danny Devito, and Christopher Walken.
Nightlife critic of screens large and small, Wen Lei Ma joins Philip Clark to review the latest to watch.

Seann William Scott, Michelle Pfeiffer, Felicity Jones… and my dog Blue barging in for a potty break. Yeah, this episode is stacked. In this festive-yet-chaotic episode of Pop Culture Weekly with Kyle McMahon, I kick things off with my buddy Seann William Scott, a.k.a. Stifler, who's back to talk Season 2 of his Tim Allen sitcom Shifting Gears (now airing on ABC and streaming on Disney+ and Hulu). We get into everything from tortured Philadelphia Eagles fandom and awkward Thanksgiving family drama to what it's really like shooting a multi-cam sitcom in front of a live studio audience. Seann talks about working with Tim Allen (yes, America's TV dad), navigating punchlines around real-time audience laughter, the magic of shorter 13-episode seasons, and why this show feels like comfort-food TV that still lets him be home in time to pick up his daughter from school. He also teases his upcoming horror film Dolly, a brutal 16mm French-extremity-style shocker that horror fans are going to want on their radar. Then we go full holiday mode with screen legends Michelle Pfeiffer and Felicity Jones, who join me to talk about their new Prime Video holiday dramedy Oh. What. Fun. Michelle opens up about why she signed on to the film, working with director Michael Showalter, and how the movie doubles as a love letter to overworked, underappreciated moms everywhere. Felicity shares how the mother - daughter dynamic in the film mirrors real life, why the story balances emotional truth with big, messy, laugh-out-loud moments, and what makes this holiday movie feel a little less “perfect snow globe” and a lot more “this is what my family actually looks like.” Watch Oh. What. Fun. on Prime Video here!If you love celebrity interviews, holiday movies, sitcom deep dives, Shifting Gears, or just want to hear me quietly spiral about the fact that I just interviewed Michelle freakin' Pfeiffer, this one's for you.If you dig the show, subscribe, rate, and share - and tell your friend who's always stealing your streaming passwords.

While Andy Cohen keeps publicly shooting his shot, insiders tell #ShuterScoop that Swift politely declines for one simple reason: she protects her peace, her fans, and her values. Bethenny Frankel may have served full Michelle Pfeiffer glam at her Scarface-themed 55th birthday bash in Miami, but insiders tell #ShuterScoop the night ended in heartbreak. Meghan Markle may be one of the world’s most photographed women — but behind the fashion fantasy, designers are quietly fuming over her notoriously slow return habits, multiple fashion insiders tell #ShuterScoop. What a treat! This month's Bonus Episode: What Lies Beneath is available for all! No subscription required :)PLEASE if you have not watched the movie, do that first and then listen to this episode! My friend, Priscilla, stops in for a deep dive into why this psychological thriller still stings: Michelle Pfeiffer's nerve and nuance, Harrison Ford's brilliant portrayal, and Robert Zemeckis's love letter to Hitchcock that uses mirrors, windows, and water to make the ordinary feel unsafe. We unpack the film's design from the ground up, including a Nantucket-style lake house built to glow in daylight and brood at dusk, multiple bathroom sets engineered for those impossible angles, and CGI used with restraint: steam that writes, reflections that betray, a ghost that returns for one exquisite moment of justice. The camera starts at eye level and sinks lower as dread rises, and Alan Silvestri's score threads anxiety through every door creak and bathtub ripple. It's meticulous craft serving a clean, propulsive plot: seance to possession, repressed memory to reveal, paralytic serum to bathtub suffocation, bridge crash to lakebed truth. At the heart is a theme that still resonates-- how a woman's intuition gets minimized when her evidence looks like superstition. Claire's haunted house becomes a map of gaslighting—neighbors who might be violent, a husband who “cares,” a past smudged by trauma. Step by step, the film tests what we believe and why, until the lake gives up what the living tried to hide. Whether you think the marketing blunted the twist or simply reframed the suspense, the story's spine holds: nothing stays buried forever. If you loved the breakdown, check out our Bonus Episodes (available on Patreon or Apple Podcasts) for more smart deep dives! It’s the musical that divides moviegoers into two camps. Those who love Grease 2 and those who don’t! Yes, Jenna and Kevin are recapping the infamous Grease 2, starring Michelle Pfeiffer. It was Kevin’s first time seeing it, and he feels the film is a cautionary tale against a Glee reboot! Meanwhile, Jenna went in with fond childhood memories of the movie but felt very differently after rewatching it again as an adult. She gives it three C’s... cornier, campier, and crasser than the original. Do you agree? Plus, Kevin spills the tea on rehearsals for Spelling Bee and the very famous faces he has run into while on Broadway!!
