Die Stimmberechtigten haben die Reform der beruflichen Vorsorge abgelehnt. Das Nein kommt nicht ganz überraschend, ist aber mit 67 Prozent überraschend wuchtig. Woran lag es und wie geht es nun weiter mit der BVG-Reform? Ausserdem: Auch die Biodiversitätsinitiative wurde abgelehnt, mit 63 Prozent der Stimmen. Damit gibt es weder strengere Anforderungen für die Förderung der Artenvielfalt noch zusätzliche Anstrengungen. Das Nein zur Initiative war erwartet worden.  In 13 Kantonen wurde über 18 verschiedene Vorlagen entschieden. Unter anderem haben die Stimmenden der Kantone Bern und Jura den Weg für einen Übertritt von Moutier zum Kanton Jura frei gemacht und im Kanton Luzern sinkt die Eigenkapitalsteuer für Unternehmen auf 0,01 Promille.

Das Städtchen Moutier kann vom Kanton Bern zum Kanton Jura wechseln. Beide Kantone haben Ja gesagt zum Vertrag, der den Wechsel regelt – und damit zur letzten grossen Hürde, die noch anstand. Für viele in Moutier ein emotionaler Hüherhaut-Moment. Ist das jetzt das Ende der Jura-Frage? Die Analyse. Am Weihnachtstag feiern die reformierten Gemeinden von Moutier BE und Umgebung gemeinsam die Geburt Jesu von Nazareth in Bethlehem. Die Predigt vertieft das Geheimnis und die Botschaft von Weihnachten und erinnert an die lange Wirkungsgeschichte der Geburt Jesu. Die Stadt Moutier liegt im Jurabogen im französischsprachigen Teil des Kantons Bern. Der Gottesdienst wird live aus der Stiftskirche Saint-Germain übertragen. Die Kirche wurde auf den Ruinen der ehemaligen Abtei von Moutier-Grandval errichtet, deren Ursprung ins Jahr 640 zurückreicht. Seit 1859 beherbergt die Stiftskirche die reformierte Gemeinde von Moutier BE. Pfarrerin Caroline Witschi und Pfarrer Quentin Jeanneret feiern den Gottesdienst gemeinsam mit den Gläubigen. Musikalisch gestaltet ihn der Chor der Kirchgemeinden der Umgebung von Moutier BE unter der Leitung von Isabelle Gueissaz. Daniel Marquis spielt Orgel und Klavier, Nathan Zürcher Cello.

Seit bald 30 Jahren ist Jean-Christophe Geiser, Rechtsberater beim Bundesamt für Justiz, zuständig für die Jurafrage. Da die Stadt Moutier nun vom Kanton Bern zum Jura wechselt, endet Geisers Vermittlerrolle. Im «Tagesgespräch» zieht er Bilanz. Die Jurafrage hat die Schweiz während Jahrzehnten in Atem gehalten: Es kam zu Attentaten, in Bern explodierte 1993 eine Bombe und riss einen Separatisten in den Tod. Schon als Kind hat Jean-Christophe Geiser das im eigenen Dorf Cortébert im Berner Jura erfahren. Als 1980 jurassische Separatisten dort eine Versammlung abhielten, kam es zu Krawallen. Auf die Fassade des Restaurants, in dem die Versammlung abgehalten wurden, gab es Schüsse. Diese Jurafrage wurde später zum Dossier von Jean-Christophe Geiser. Er organisierte die Treffen der Interjurassischen Versammlung, die vom Bund und den Kantonen Bern und Jura gegründet wurde, um den Jurakonflikt friedlich zu lösen. Diese Vermittlerrolle des Bundes endet nun, die Kantone Bern und Jura haben sich über die Modalitäten des Transfers von Moutier von Bern zum Kanton Jura geeinigt. Im Tagesgespräch mit Westschweizkorrespondent Andreas Stüdli schaut Jean-Christophe Geiser auf die Vermittlung in der Jurafrage zurück – und auf seinen zweiten Beruf: Denn der 58-Jährige ist auch Organist der Kathedrale in Lausanne.

Die psychiatrische Klinik Bellelay im Jura muss nach 130 Jahren die Tore schliessen. Nicht zeitgemäss und wirtschaftlich nicht tragbar sei das abgeschieden gelegene Spital. Patienten und Pflegerinnen müssen nach Moutier umziehen. Dieser Film gibt einen letzten, seltenen Einblick in den Klink-Alltag. Die Natur, die Ruhe und dass man unter sich war, das alles habe geholfen, gesund zu werden, sagen die einen. Das Thema psychische Gesundheit gehöre nicht in die Abgeschiedenheit, sondern mitten in die Gesellschaft, meinen die anderen. Sicher ist: Die psychiatrische Klinik Bellelay im Berner Jura steht exemplarisch für aktuelle Entwicklungen in der Gesundheitspolitik. Zu abgeschieden und nicht wirtschaftlich sei das Spital, das in einer Abtei aus dem 12. Jahrhundert untergebracht war. Das befand die Berner Kantonsregierung. Sie übergab den ganzen Sektor der frankophonen Psychiatrie im Berner Jura einer privaten Spitalgruppe. Diese schliesst nun, nach 130 Jahren, die Klinik. Die Patientinnen und Pfleger müssen, die meisten gegen ihren Willen, nach Moutier BE umziehen. In der grössten Gemeinde der Gegend werden sie ins Spital der Gruppe integriert. Dieser Film entstand auf Wunsch der Bewohnerinnen und Mitarbeitenden der Klinik. Er ist eine kleine Liebeserklärung an diesen besonderen Ort und gibt einen seltenen Einblick in den Alltag einer psychiatrischen Klinik. Einen Alltag, wie es ihn in den Gesundheitseinrichtungen der Schweiz immer seltener geben wird.

In this episode, we invite Dr. Christine Moutier of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, along with Christopher Thomas and Martha Thomas of the Defensive Line so they could have a chance to address some of your unanswered questions from their presentation on suicide prevention at the 2022 NEI Congress titled “Reasons to Hope: Evidence-Based Actions for Suicide Prevention. Christine Moutier serves as the chief medical officer for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and knows the impact of suicide firsthand. After her own lived experience and losing physician colleagues to suicide, she dedicated herself to fighting this leading cause of death. For the past decade as CMO at AFSP, Dr. Moutier has been leading a nationwide movement fueled by science and grassroots. She has testified before Congress numerous times, presented at the White House and the National Academy of Sciences, and is a frequent expert contributor for major media outlets.   Martha co-founded The Defensive Line with Chris and her son, Solomon to honor her daughter, Ella, and to bring a message of hope and help to other at-risk young people. She is the roots of her family and believes and demonstrates fundamentally that connection is our greatest source of strength. She recently stepped out of the classroom to work full-time in her role as the Chief Education Officer for the organization. While she is no longer in the classroom, she is still teaching others important lifesaving skills. As a teacher and educator for 30 years, Martha brings a deep understanding of the profession to The Defensive Line. Martha resides in Coppell, Texas with her husband, Chris, and two rescue dogs Mickey and Rebel. She is a marathoner and devoted friend to many, as well as a huge fan of the New York Jets for whom her son, Solomon, plays as a defensive lineman. As a senior executive at Procter & Gamble, Frito-Lay, and Alberto Culver among others, Chris brought a drive for excellence to his work, earning recognition and industry awards including Salesperson of the Year and Supplier of the Year. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, as well as Touched By Suicide (TBS) board member, AFSP Project 2025 board member, and College of Wooster Ad Hoc Alumni Trustee. Martha, Chris, and Solomon were recipients of the 2019 AFSP Lifesaver Award. During his 30-plus years in corporate management of consumer goods and products, both domestically and internationally. A gifted college athlete, Chris played an integral role in coaching and developing the athletic achievements of his children, Ella and Solomon. In addition to receiving the AFSP Lifesaver Award in 2019 with Solomon, Martha and Chris are active with suicide survivors organizations, have spoken at the 2022 Neuroscience Education Institute Congress, Texas Association of Gifted and Talented Conference, United Healthcare Suicide Prevention Town Hall and many others.

In February of 2021, the AAP, NIMH, and the AFSP convened, along with over 100 clinicians, a workgroup with a shared goal and dream of compiling a roadmap for youth suicide prevention, and in March of 2022, the AAP Blueprint for Youth Suicide was released. This comprehensive body of work provides clinical pathways, initiatives for community partner collaborations, resources, and advocacy materials. Additionally, there is an extensive section on the epidemiology of youth suicide informed by a health equity lens. The panelists share the story of the creation of the Blueprint along with practical information on the navigation of the site.   Today we are joined by Dr. Lisa Horowitz, Dr. Christine Moutier, and Dr. May Lau   Dr. Lisa Horowitz is a Staff Scientist / Pediatric Psychologist in the National Institute of Mental Health Intramural Research Program at the National Institutes of Health. The major focus of Dr. Horowitz's research has been the detection of suicide risk in the medical setting. She is the lead PI on six NIMH suicide prevention protocols that involve validating and implementing the Ask Suicide-Screening Questions (ASQ) in the ED, inpatient medical/surgical, and outpatient primary care settings. Dr. Horowitz is collaborating with hospitals, outpatient pediatric clinics, and school settings around the country, assisting with the implementation of suicide risk screening and management of patients who screen positive using the ASQ Toolkit and Youth Suicide Risk Screening Clinical Pathways   Dr. Christine Yu Moutier, Chief Medical Officer of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, knows the impact of suicide firsthand. After losing colleagues to suicide, she dedicated herself to fighting this leading cause of death. Dr. Moutier has served as UCSD professor of psychiatry, dean in the medical school, medical director of the VA Psychiatric Unit, and has been clinically active with diverse patient populations, such as veterans, Asian refugee populations, as well as physicians and academic leaders with mental health conditions. She has presented at the White House, testified before the U.S. Congress, and has appeared as an expert in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time magazine, The Economist, The Atlantic, the BBC, and CNN.   May Lau, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the medical director of the Adolescent and Young Adult Program at Children's Medical Center Dallas, where she provides care for adolescent females and males, including sexual and gender minority youth. Dr. Lau co-chairs the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Texas Pediatric Society (TPS) Committee on Adolescent and Sports Medicine, has been elected to the AAP Section on Adolescent Health Executive Committee and is a fellow of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine. She educates fellows, residents, and medical students on the specialized care of adolescents. Her research focuses on a variety of areas including adolescent mental health and gender-affirming care. The summit, which was held in February of 2019, brought together a diverse group of pediatricians to discuss ways to prevent suicide in youth. The final product of the summit was a blueprint for suicide prevention that has been implemented by many different organizations.
