This time we dig into a rarely discussed aspect of Norse mythology: stealing your enemy's power by eating their heart or drinking their blood. But just who's power can be stolen by way of this gory ritual? Animals? Monsters? Humans? Let's find out together.Sources:“Heimskringla Volume 1, The Beginnings to Óláfr Tryggvason” transl. by Alison Finlay and Anthony Faulkes, 2011“Gesta Danorum” transl. by Karsten Friis-Jensen and Peter Fisher, 2015“The Saga of King Hrolf Kraki” transl. Tickets available at https://richarddawkinstour.com/ I shall be spending the whole of September, and the first week of October, in North America, speaking in ten different cities from Dallas to Vancouver. I am 83 years old, and travel is more irksome than it was. The maxim, “Quit while you're ahead” has recently received a welcome boost, and I anticipate that this will be my last American tour. My swansong. My final bow. There'll be a Q & A at every event. And I'll be signing any or all of my 19 books, including The Genetic Book of the Dead, which will be just published. This will probably be your last opportunity to tell me how profoundly you disagree with everything I've written and said. Or the reverse if that is the case. Either way, I look forward to seeing you. ---------------------------------- In this episode, Richard Dawkins has a conversation with Dr. Peter Fisher, who is a physician and homeopath. They discuss the efficacy of Homeopath, controversy regarding funding homeopathy, and the scientific (or non scientific) nature of the field. -------------------

The BlackRock Investment Institute has outlined five mega forces that are shaping the macroeconomic landscape and demographic divergence is another one of them. The aging of populations will limit how much major economies can produce and grow, leaving governments with less tax revenue to support rising retirement and healthcare expenses. The impact of fewer workers could result in lower corporate profits and higher government debt unless economies adapt to mitigate these pressures. So, what does this mean for investors and what risks and opportunities does this megaforce create?Nicholas Fawcett, Senior Economist in the BlackRock Investment Institute and Peter Fisher, head of BlackRock's Global Retirement Initiative join Oscar to uncover the impact of this megaforce on global economies and the potential risks and opportunities investors should consider.Sources: “The peak 65® Zone Is Here”, Retirement Income Institute, January 2024; Decoding Demographic Divergence, BlackRock, March 2024; U.N. The Fury is a two-channel video installation in combination with a 360 video that "explores sexual exploitation of female political prisoners, referencing the Islamic Republic of Iran's brutal treatment of political prisoners." Director Shirin Neshat is an established visual artist, photographer, video artist, and filmmaker who collaborated with Khora CTO and co-founder Peter Fisher who led the 360 video production. The two-channel video installation is told in three different parts, and the VR puts you in the middle part of the story. I had a chance to catch up with Neshat and Fisher at Tribeca Immersive to unpack their process of producing the piece, how a two-channel video installation invites a view to choose how to edit the piece, how Neshat prefers that audiences will see the film to get the full context of the piece, and the preferred order to watch it. Tribeca was showing the VR portion before the video installation, and I found it to be a really powerful piece and combination of being immersed within the VR portion, and then being able to reference my own embodied memories in watching the full context of the two-channel video installation. This is a listener-supported podcast through the Voices of VR Patreon. Music: Fatality

History of New Brunswick by Peter Fisher audiobook. Originally published in 1825 under the title: Sketches of New Brunswick : containing an account of the first settlement of the province, with a brief description of the country, climate, productions, inhabitants, government, rivers, towns, settlements, public institutions, trade, revenue, population, &c., by an inhabitant of the province. The value of this history is in the fact that it was written when the Province was still in its infancy. Although there had been a few small settlements established in New Brunswick prior to 1783, the main influx of settlers were Loyalists who chose to remove to the area from the United States following the American Revolution.

ᚠᚢᚦᚨᚱᚲ! What does it mean? On this episode we'll cover everything you ever wanted to know about pre-Christian runic writing and, maybe even better, we'll talk about how the runes were used anciently for magical practices. Be warned! We're going to be dispelling a lot of myths in this episode, so get ready to toss everything you thought you already knew right out the window. Ok, maybe it won't be that drastic, but you might be surprised. Previously, Loki took it upon himself to orchestrate the murder of the gods' golden boy, Baldr. In this episode, Loki's actions finally come back to haunt him as the gods exact their revenge. We'll discuss how this story differs between accounts in the two Eddas, and even dig in to a lesser-known part of the story preserved mainly in Gesta Danorum. And with this story out of the way, the stage has finally been fully set for Ragnarök. Once upon a time, Thor made a journey into jǫtunheimr without his magic hammer. Or at least, that's one version of the story. So along the way he had to make due with other weapons. But do these other weapons preserve a more ancient memory of the thunder god's arsenal? And by the way, has Mjǫllnir always been a hammer? Let's dig in together. Homeopathic Narratives: How Nature Heals

Where has the teacher from the animal kingdom gone?  The definition of a teacher has been taken out of context.  We have taken sections of life and artificially separated them into certain cubbies.  Instead of providing students and other people who work with teachers and helpers with those who they can identify, today we see one type of teacher in schools and that is why they have gone from educational institutions to places of indoctrination. The animal kingdom includes many sub-kingdoms.  The energies running a country do not represent everyone but they see themselves as being the majority and others who are not like them are the fringe groups. The teacher is not limited in the animal perception and includes many words like doctor (teach in Latin), assist, coach, help, benevolent. Demonstrating, showing and sharing is the center of what teaching is.  Anyone who desires to cooperate, share their capacity, no matter what is teaching.  Unlike the mineral kingdom who define the teacher as a profession that has to behave in a very narrow definition depending on the mineral series – which will be covered in a future narrative.  The spiders and reptiles are from the animal kingdom.  Doing a proving is the best place to find the experience of a remedy.  Homeopathic provings are experiments done by healthy people who then experience the remedy in a double or triple blind study and the essence of the remedy through the multiple perceptions of many people. We are human with human DNA and the other song is an energy system that comes from different substance on Earth that we have separated into kingdoms.  Homeopathy from Today's World – again recommended as the one who discovered the method of understanding a larger inventory of remedies by looking at kingdoms.  Rajan Sankaran points out 3 postulates that homeopathy has incorporated which explains how we react to situations.  Our actions mimic what we perceive is being done to us. So, if you perceive yourself as being insulted even if you are not, you will insult back. The second postulate on p111, the sensitivity always denotes the opposite as well – if you are sensitive to harmony then discord is something you are also impacted by.  The last point to remember is that you are everything both the things and people you like as well as the ones you don't. You would be surprised at how many from the European Royalty use homeopathy.  Insects, reptiles and arachnids.  They are an interesting group, but feared by many especially minerals and plant energies.  p.61, the theme of survival of the fittest with strength and competition being central.  Attractiveness, attention seeking, getting the upper hand,  and strength keeps us in the group which allows for survival.  Looking at nature, we learn.  No one person can give you the laws of nature, you need to observe them.  There are characteristics of the animals which people have depending on the animal. Mammals are group energies and many are teachers.  Then you have birds who play a large part in the energy of teaching, supporting, sight and wisdom as seen in the proving of Great Horned Owl.  Peter Fisher has a book on this proving that was mentioned in a previous narrative. When we teach one way and decide to make all teachers from one perspective we miss out on real teaching and end up with brainwashing instead! Question for today:  How do we integrate tissue salts into homeopathy? Email me with questions at hownatureheals@gmail.com All views presented are based on credible sources, but they are explained through the individual's viewpoint.  Doing your own research while integrating new information is always important when forming your own viewpoint. The information in this podcast is not meant to address individual health needs, it is general in nature and should not be used as medical information for your health unless used in combination with your health practitioner.

The pandemic has changed the way we work and shop meaning a growing number of offices and retail outlets are empty. So, what do we do with them? Knock them down and start again or find a sustainable way to reuse them? The buzz word is ‘retrofit': redesigning and refurbishing an existing building. Elsie Owusu is an architect and, in this episode of Costing the Earth, she explores this current and contentious issue. It's usually cheaper to build new, so what can be done to encourage developers and architects to change their plans. She visits Selkirk House on Museum Street in London. Developers want to demolish this 1960s concrete tower-block and build something bigger in its place. Campaigners say that a vast amount of CO2 emissions would be saved it the building is retrofitted. Architect, Peter Fisher, takes Elsie to a 1950s, concrete, former print-works which is being refurbished. Just five years ago Peter says the decision would have been made to demolish but, times are changing, and by choosing retrofit CO2 emissions will be reduced by 50%. Smith Mordak takes a wider view of the debate, arguing that a cultural shift is needed across architecture and the associated disciplines. The automatic response to a design challenge of building new, or even building at all, should be rejected; there are more creative and greener ways of thinking to explore first. Do you ensure that you are in good health? You may be eating healthy foods, exercising, taking supplements, but do you genuinely know what's going on with your body?  Our bodies are made up of complex and interconnected systems. The things we think can help our body may not be the case. As entrepreneurs, being in good health is important because an illness can break any business and life apart.   In this episode, Maria Whalen joins us to talk about dangerous misconceptions we have around health. She shares the five pillars of good health that we need to focus on instead. We need to be careful with what we ingest and put on our bodies; these can change our body's foundational systems.  Maria also shares her journey as an entrepreneur and her experience with illnesses that led her to advocate for the good health of entrepreneurs all around the world. If you want to learn how to take more care of your health, this episode is for you!  Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Discover the different misconceptions we have surrounding health.  Understand the foundational pillars of good health.  Learn what makes an entrepreneur successful and why we need to keep moving forward.  Resources Check out EWG to learn how to buy healthier personal care products and food!  Meditations by Marcus Aurelius Killing the Victim Before the Victim Kills You by Derek M. Watson, Larry Pinci, and Daniel L. Tocchini Reality for a Change by Ennio Salucci Contact Maria through the email support@intentionalnetwork.com.  You can also follow her work on Intentional Network. Episode Highlights The Problem with Health Perceptions Maria shares her hardships with illnesses and her experience with Western medicine.  The more she studied to cure herself, the more she saw problems with the perception of health and medicine. There is a lot of marketing hype around green smoothies and the likes.  It's dangerous to think that you're already healthy just because you eat and drink certain things.  Five Pillars of Good Health Maria hopes to share ways of never becoming sick.  No one is teaching how our body works. It is why there are a lot of misconceptions about health.  We need to know the foundations of good health first.  The five foundational pillars are the immune system, hormonal system, DNA, physical structure, and mental-emotional component. Imbalance Is the Source of Sickness Ask yourself these questions every time you are not in good health: What am I doing that's in my body's way? What is it I'm not giving my body that it's asking for? Once you identify the culprit, you can fix the source and damage.  How can we cause an imbalance in our DNA? Tune in to Maria's answers in the full episode.  Is Detox Helpful?  Maria shares cleansing and detox should be done in the right context.  Everything needs to be in proper order, just like in business.  Don't take shortcuts towards good health. The skin is the largest organ in your body, and anything you put on it goes straight to the bloodstream.  How can we be more conscious about our food and products? Listen to the full episode to hear more.   Learn the Way Your Body Works  All of us experience some form of inflammation. We need to learn why this happens.  When we want to nourish our bones, it's not about taking more calcium. Taking calcium can actually cause more harm.  We need to understand the physiology of our body as a system.  The Illusion of Feeling Good  People often disregard the foundational pillars because they already feel 'good.'  Don't wait until your body breaks down before you start working on your foundation. Don't claim to be in good health when you don't know what's happening beneath the surface. When influencing your hormones, you should understand that prescriptions work differently for people.  Tune in to the episode to hear about influencing your hormones!  Interconnection of Systems Your body is made up of different systems.  You cannot isolate a single system; you will need to address the whole system.  For example, losing weight needs to be strategic: suddenly losing weight will cause toxins typically stored in fat tissue to be released into your body. How to Become Successful Becoming successful takes a lot of blood, sweat, and tears.  You also need to have a vision that's big enough to push you through the pain of transformation.  A lot of successful people came to be due to a sense of urgency and need.  Common Attitude of Entrepreneurs One important skill to master is smart networking.  Become invested in other people's products and events.  Build strong relationships no matter what you get out of it.  Make sure to provide people value before asking for anything in return.  Get out there and do the work. Meet people outside of your usual circles.  Balancing Work and Life When balancing work and life, you need to look at the counterbalance.  Make sure to recover in between the times of hard work.  Keep yourself in check, so you don't burn out.  Moving Forward Keep moving and failing forward.  Don't dwell on yesterday's mistakes because you need to keep moving.  When you focus on mistakes, you'll tend to stop and get left behind.  About Maria Maria Whalen is the pioneer of Invincible Wellness™, a system that gives people the power to handle almost anything when it comes to health. View the Funeral Bulletin for Peter FisherService Time: 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2021First Reading – Isaiah 25:6-9 On this mountain the LORD of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the LORD has spoken. It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Second Reading – Romans 6:3-9 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.Gospel Reading – Luke 2:25-32 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”Obituary Peter Robert Fisher, 82, of Pittsburgh, PA died at home on Wednesday, January 20. Despite his struggles with cancer in the past 14 months he remained a caring man of faith, generosity, persistent patience, and deep love for his God, family and friends. Peter was born in New Eagle, PA on 23 March 1938 to David Curl and Ellen Marie (Brady) Fisher. The oldest of four, he is survived by Theresa Mae Fisher, Jonathan David Fisher both of Pittsburgh, and Mary Ellen (Fisher) Landon (Jerry Forderhase) of NYC. Peter graduated from Greensburg High School and Carnegie-Mellon University, with a degree in Electrical Engineering. It was at CMU that he met his loving wife of almost 60 years Barbara Anna (Grau). He is also survived by his children Kirk Peter (Sondra Vernau) and Kirsten Laurel Fisher-Price (Allen Price), grandchildren, Jocelyn Nicole Fisher, Patrick Uriah Fisher, Ethan Robert Fisher and niece, Brady Michelle Landon-Forderhase. While he was a man of many talents and accomplishments, the overarching trajectory of Peter’s life is that of a designer. As a younger man, he professionally managed the design of transformers for McGraw Edison, while at home he designed and made furniture. His love for design and craft manifested itself in everything he did including: wooden boxes, metal buttons, jewelry, poems and stories. He worked with widely varied groups of people, professionally: Board member of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, liaison for The Ben Franklin Partnership, mentor for CMU management game undergraduates. And, also, designed meetings of minds and conversations, personally: creating a Saturday breakfast Bible study group, forming the ROMEOs (retired old men eating out), President of Christ Lutheran, an elder for two congregations. Everyone, whether family, friend or co-worker, experienced his pleasure in sharing unique ideas. He and Barbara traveled with a mutual desire to soak in art, culture and cuisine of domestic and European places. In his middle age, Peter bought his sports car and enjoyed many subsequent excursions with Barbara and the West Penn Miata Club. He also designed a tenet with which he would strive to live out the rest of his life: “God, family and friends” in that order. And to be with the Saints when they come marching in. We will miss him and look forward to that day. Much has changed during the two-month recess, with many Iowans struggling to weather a public health crisis and economic downturn. Will our elected leaders prioritize kids and their families as they make decisions in the days ahead — or will our youngest Iowans be left out of the conversation? The Center's Mary Nelle Trefz and Sheila Hansen along with IPP's Peter Fisher join Anne to map a path forward for the legislature, one that ensures our children, families and communities aren't left behind.

Today's guest is Laurel Chiten, filmmaker of Just One Drop, one of two documentaries about homeopathy that is screening around the globe as I speak.   If you are a long-time listener, or you’ve checked out some back episodes, you may remember that I interviewed Laurel right about this time 2 years ago, before Just One Drop was released, before she even knew when it would be released.   In fact, I believe it premiered in the UK last year during Homeopathy Awareness Week, which is coming right up, April 7th-the 15th.   If you are a homeopath, it is very likely that you are aware of this film and perhaps you have even had the opportunity to see it. But in case you have *not*, Just One Drop was conceived of and created by Laurel Chiten and her amazing crew to tackle the question- has homeopathy been given a fair trial?   The film circles the globe and time, focusing closely in on one family’s experience with homeopathy and their autistic son, Lucas, and then zooming out and uncovering the truth behind the famed ‘Australia Report’ that claimed to put to rest the question of whether homeopathy works or not. Woven beautifully in-between are artistic renderings depicting homeopathy’s beginnings with Hahnemann, and later development in the United States and beyond. This year, to celebrate Homeopathy Awareness Week and to help spread the film even further than it already has, Just One Drop will be available for live stream, in 3 different time zones- in the UK on Monday, April 9th, in North America on Tuesday, April 10th, and in Australia on Thursday, April 12th.    You can find all the details about how to watch the film and register for the screening at the just One Drop websitee- https://www.justonedropfilm.com/live-stream  Laurel shares about their hopes for this unique live stream event, each of which will be followed by a Question and Answer with Laurel herself and esteemed guests, such as Rachel Roberts, CEO of the Homeopathy Research Intitute, Dr. Peter Fisher, homeopath to the Royal Family, Mark Land (President of the American Assoc. of Homeopathic Pharmacists, Dr. Teresa Nicoletti, a Medical Lawyer, and Dr. Alex Tournier, Exec. Director Homeopathy Research Institute.   I had always been planning bring Laurel back on the show to follow up our initial interview after the film’s release, and it’s really cool to complete that circle and have her here today.   I hope you enjoy this interview with Laurel, and do heed her advice and call up your friends and family and host a screening, it’s easy to do, and as well all know, the world needs homeopathy as much as ever.   Enjoy, and be well, and stay observant.
