-Subida pronunciada: Aumento grande o notable (no pequeño).

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 29, 2026 4:11

Dan shares tales of two islands this week. We'll head to the remote Pacific Samoan island of Ofu, where there's a stretch of beach so feared that many locals refuse to walk it after dark. A place believed to be a gathering ground for spirits who've never crossed over. A place where ghosts can do more than just scare you. Next, we'll head to the other side of the world to the Azores.  High above a volcanic crater on São Miguel, an abandoned luxury hotel looms out of the fog  - a five-star dream that collapsed almost as soon as it opened. Visitors today report footsteps in empty hallways, voices in stairwells, and the unmistakable feeling of being watched by something that never left. A little less exotic but equally as creepy, Lynze brings us a tale from Spokane. The story of an entity that has attached itself to a someone and still lingers close today. To wrap up, we go to a midwest county fair where two young friends get more than they bargained for at the fun house. Bad Magic Monthly Donation: This month, we are donating to the HALO Dental Network. This may sound familiar because this is our second time donating here. After all of these years of making various donations, HALO is the one and only charity we receive emails about on a monthly basis. We have been sending fans their way consistently since our last donation in 2022. We felt that if we were going to keep sending folks their way, we ought to help support their mission. The HALO Dental Network is dedicated to being the most impactful dental charity in the United States. Led by Dr. Brady Smith, HALO provides free dental care to underserved populations throughout the country. Dental services include dental implants, veneers, fillings, crowns and root canals. We are thrilled to be able to support their mission, once again. We have donated $11,230 while putting $1250 into the 2026 scholarship fund. Why Treatment Fails If you've watched a family member struggle with addiction, you know how helpless it can feel. Treatment programs that don't work. Policies that seem disconnected from reality. Debates about legalization versus criminalization that never address what actually helps someone recover. Dr. Kevin Sabet has spent decades advising three presidential administrations on drug policy—watching decriminalization debates, marijuana legalization, and the opioid crisis unfold. He started asking a different question: What if we looked at what actually works? His book One Nation Under the Influence examines why current addiction policies are failing—and what Iceland, Portugal, and Hawaii figured out that we're missing. In This Episode You'll Learn: [01:00] Why marijuana is the most misunderstood drug in America [04:00] How today's marijuana is genetically bred to be far more potent [08:00] The critical difference between decriminalization, legalization, and commercialization [12:00] Why the promises of marijuana legalization haven't materialized [17:00] How addiction responds to incentives unlike any other brain condition [20:00] What "harm reduction" actually means—and why there's so much confusion [24:00] Why some addiction physicians recommend marijuana for opioid recovery—and what the research shows [30:00] What Iceland's prevention model actually did differently [33:00] How Portugal's system works—and why it's not legalization [35:00] Hawaii's HOPE program: why 2 days in jail changed behavior when years of probation didn't

On this week's episode of The Joy of Football, Martin Tyler and Neil Barnett begin with a deep dive into one of the games of the season - Arsenal 2–3 Manchester United - a dramatic Premier League clash that delivered late twists, big moments, and plenty to debate. In Explain That, the guys break down the key incidents from the match, including decisions, officiating, and the role of a brand-new referee in one of the toughest fixtures imaginable. Martin reflects on how games like this feel from the gantry, and why momentum, timing, and emotion can shift so quickly at the highest level. Elsewhere in the episode, Three of the Best features players from Manchester United, Austria and Portugal, with discussion spanning clubs including Celtic, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Fulham. Neil's Voice of Passion focuses on exactly that — what passion means in football, how it shows itself, and why it still matters so much to players, supporters and those watching from the stands. And in Letter From The Gantry, Martin delivers one of his most memorable reflections yet — looking back on the final January England fixture, and why certain matches stay with you long after the final whistle. A wide-ranging episode built around a classic Premier League encounter, full of insight, debate and storytelling from the gantry. #Ad Find out more about St James Place here! https://www.sjp.co.uk Join Neil Barnett (former Chelsea touch-liner announcer and football journalist) alongside the voice of the Premier League, Martin Tyler in celebrating the greatest addiction in the World!  Hosted by The Revive Lounge Ltd  UCsdye1hUxP4xhgBx9zvuSjg Subscribe to https://youtube.com/@TheReviveLounge?si=L5ddzrJrtSmErtJ5  Support the Pod https://patreon.com/TheJoysofFootballPodcast?utm_medium=unknown&utm_source=join_link&utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator&utm_content=copyLink Read us on  Substack https://martintylerandneilbarnett.substack.com/  Follow our Twitter https://x.com/TheJOF  Follow our Tik Tok https://www.tiktok.com/@joy_of_football_pod?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc  Follow our Instagram https://https://www.instagram.com/joy_of_football_pod/  Contact us via: therevivelounge@gmail.com  Music by Arron Clague - https://www.instagram.com/arronclague?igsh=aHg1bjQ3OHpmaXIz  Intro Sequence by Wellong Sadewo (wells.illustration): https://www.instagram.com/wells.illustration/  For incredible football artwork, check out: https://linktr.ee/marclobodaart  A massive thank you to our Patreon Supporters:  Nick Parmenter  Hillary Abbott  Daniel Butigan  Tommy Mck  Katie Watson  Benjamin Fairclough  Nathan A Learn more about your ad choices. The wine world is changing—and if you're drinking the same way you did five years ago, you're missing something. In this episode, we dive into the 2026 wine trends behind a quiet but powerful shift in how people drink today. Prestige labels and power wines are losing ground to lighter, fresher, more drinkable styles chosen for real life—not status. Heavy reds aren't disappearing, but they are being rethought, chilled, and replaced by wines that feel better at the table and easier to live with. We explore why crisp whites now outsell reds, how chillable reds and "bistro wines" became mainstream, and why forgotten categories like Marsala, sweet wines, and everyday bubbles are making an unexpected return. You'll hear how climate change, health awareness, sustainability, and rising prices are reshaping taste—and why value hunting has gone global, from Southern Italy to Greece and Portugal. This conversation also looks at low-ABV and no-ABV wines as part of intentional drinking rather than abstinence, and how celebrity influence and storytelling are changing the way people discover wine. If your wine preferences have shifted—or you're curious why the rules suddenly feel different—this episode will explain what's really going on. Wine in 2026 is lighter, colder, more affordable, and more human.
