We discuss green tea, fenugreek, and ivy leaf in this, the fourth part of an episodic sequence about the best-selling herbs in the US.Our primary purpose for creating this series of episodes is to share an understanding of these herbs from the perspectives of traditional and contemporary herbal practice. Frequently, the high-volume sales of these herbs comes along with oversimplified or diminished ideas about what they can do. If we ask “what does this herb help with?” and answer it based only on what we see on store shelves and product websites, we'll miss out on a lot of possibilities!Every herbalist practicing in the US today should be familiar with these herbs, because they are the ones your clients are most likely to be taking even before they show up for an appointment with you. Their use may have implications for your own herbal recommendations, or serve as a jumping-off point for a more involved protocol. You may also be able to advise your clients about alternatives which may serve them better, or even some supplements that aren't really worth the price. So overall, this series is both an example of materia medica study and also a guide to ‘marketing literacy' for supplements.10. In part three of our series on the top-selling herbs in the United States, we cover wheatgrass, beet root, and ginger supplements. As we share our opinions about these popular herbal supplements, our primary goal is to help you understand these herbs in their breadth and depth. They're too often pigeon-holed into limited ranges of application – the usual answers to “what is it good for?” are too small! There's plenty more to say about them than their most common selling points. If you're an herbalist, it's good for you to be well-informed about herbal supplements which people take most often. You can learn what is popular, and why it is. You can understand how to answer questions about those plants, how to differentiate hype from health, how to help someone find a better alternative, and which supplements just aren't worth the cost. This series is intended to help you do that!If you're new to herbalism, we're happy that we get the first chance to form your thoughts around these herbs. At the same time, this will act as a guide to developing ‘marketing literacy' as applied to herbal supplements – and some good old-fashioned materia medica study, too.7. This episode continues our series covering the top-selling herbs in the United States. As we give you our thoughts about these popular herbal supplements, we're hoping to help you break out of the box. These herbs are frequently pigeon-holed into very narrow ranges of application – the answers to the question “what is it good for?” are usually very limited! There's more to say about them than their most effective selling points or marketing campaigns. If you're a practicing herbalist, you should be well-informed about the herbal supplements people take most frequently. Last week we talked about certain fruits, vegetables, beans and lentils that can boost the short chain fatty acids called propionate and acetate. Alongside butyrate, which you can increase with resistant starch rich foods such as cold oats, green bananas and cooked and cooled potatoes and rice, these guys help to lower inflammation, heal gut issues and may even protect against endo progression. To learn more about the benefits of short chain fatty acids for endo, listen to episodes 312, 311 and 310. Today, I wanted to give you another option if you feel like a lot of the foods I listed last week just aren't doable for you because of your bloating and IBS symptoms, or if you eat a lot of these foods already, but still suffer with gut problems and endo problems, and would like to take some extra steps to further boost these beneficial short chain fatty acids. In this episode, I, Dr. Laurie Marbas, a board-certified family and lifestyle medicine physician, delve into a cholesterol-lowering protocol that I've developed over the past four years through extensive research and patient experimentation. This protocol is particularly beneficial for those on a whole food plant-based diet who still struggle with high cholesterol levels. I start by explaining the importance of a plant-based diet and the common challenges my patients face, such as maintaining optimal cholesterol levels. I emphasize that while statins can be necessary for some, my goal is to improve quality of life and longevity through dietary means whenever possible. The core of my protocol involves a specific mixture to be consumed twice daily before lunch and dinner. This mixture includes: 1. Unsweetened applesauce (a quarter to half a cup) 2. Amla powder (eighth to a quarter teaspoon) 3. Psyllium husk (one teaspoon) 4. Ground flaxseed (one tablespoon) 5. Ceylon cinnamon (half a teaspoon) I also recommend additional steps to enhance the protocol's effectiveness: One Brazil nut per week for selenium. Berberine supplements (500 mg, three times a day) for cholesterol and blood sugar management. Algae omega-3s for heart and brain health, with brands like Nordic Naturals or Compliment. Soy products (two to three servings per day) such as soybeans, edamame, tempeh, tofu, or soy milk. I highlight the importance of consistency in following this protocol to achieve the best results. Additionally, I mention that this regimen can help with satiety, which may be beneficial for weight management. Towards the end of the episode, I invite listeners to join my newsletter for more detailed information and updates, including a forthcoming menopause course and a symptom questionnaire. I encourage everyone to subscribe, share the video, and stay connected for more health tips and recipes. Short chain fatty acids are types of gut friendly fats that are produced when good bacteria in our large intestine eats fibre. So, when healthy bacteria eat let's say, beans, it will ferment our food, and create gas. Along with that gas, it creates short chain fatty acids. Short chain fatty acids are one of the key reasons gut health is so important to our overall wellbeing. Number one is that they are the primary source of food/fuel for the cells in our large intestine. They therefore help to keep our gut barrier intact and strong. When this barrier weakens and holes start to form between our cells, food particles, bacteria and toxins from gram-negative bacteria known as lipopolyscharrides (otherwise known as LPS) can leak through the gut into our blood stream and the surrounding pelvic area. If we eat certain food, like shrimp… we get harmful organisms and bacteria in our guts. After some time we will get leaky guts and then so many diseases like dementia will develop in our body.Even worse, we can get the superbug that kills everybody from the shrimps…What should we do?1. Don't expose your body to parasites or sugar! This means a huge No to sushis or every meat, fish, scrimp, and poultry that is not entirely heated up… shrimp, lobster, and crabs are the worst.Sugar feeds, all parasites and Candida well…2. Eat in a relaxed setting & eat outside… Because it helps digestion.Food that is not digested fully is the best breed for parasites.3. Use digestive Enzymes. The body needs enzymes for digestion.Only in raw food are enzymes. And if you don't eat enough raw food you should supplement it. Or eat unprocessed, uncooked fermented food, because it is with enzymes and probiotics!4. Use herbal medicine or ivermectin to kill parasites.Like:Black walnutOregano herb (I use oregano oil for sinus and coughing) just 600mg/day is enoughCloves supplements, not the spices.5. Take fiberPsyllium (You can do a colon cleanse with Psyllium and Bentonite clay).6. Full body detox, for at least 2 months.7. Probiotic food, like fermented vegetables, soya beans, and yogurt...8. Functional protein powder that repairs the gut within 5 days.9. Body-mind complexlyIf you are in a bad relationship, stressed, and can't let go of your problems or past, otherwise you will get the parasites again and againMy Video: 9 Tips to Get Rid of Parasites & Candida https://youtu.be/Xyj4277FXyMMy Audio: https://divinesuccess.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/Podcast4/9Tips-to-Get-Rid-of-Parasites-Candida.mp3
You are more than what you eat. You are actually a combination of what you eat, assimilate, digest, and eliminate. Today, Holistic Health and Detox coach Meghan Swidler shares her wealth of knowledge about healing, cleansing, and detoxing. We explore how to access the elimination pathways, different types of cleanses, and how to effectively prepare for one. Having an expert guide alongside you throughout the process is deeply important because everyone's health is unique. I highly recommend working with Meghan on your healing journey, and her latest book, From Deep Within, is a great place to start. Industrialization changed our bodies and our world in permanent ways. The reality is our environment is toxic and burdening our systems. Our bodies are left trying to detox material that they were never meant to detox, like microplastics and pesticides, and this accumulation of waste is incredibly harmful. Cleansing our bodies has never been a more vital step to combat this and achieve a healthy state. While what we eat is so important to our health, what we eliminate is too. This is where Meghan's expertise comes in. Meghan realized she wanted to help others heal their bodies and upgrade their lives after going through her health journey to combat skin issues, fatigue, and more. Meghan shares that there are two stages to preparing the body for colonics and enemas: the awakening and the release. First, you awaken the built-up matter in your system via the food you eat and then release the obstruction that prevents flow. Often, people want to jump straight into a cleanse, but the food you eat in preparation is a key step. Eating more real, whole, unprocessed foods is always the best way to prepare for a cleanse as well as to nourish your body every day. Some people may find that they are eating super clean but not achieving results. Meghan shares that this may be an indicator of toxic thoughts and a harmful emotional state. Food, movement, sleep, and stress management are the four pills of a healthy life. It's easy to optimize the already good areas, such as food, but not the other weak pillars. The beauty of the cleansing process is that it brings a lot of awareness to the reality of how we are living. We agree that clearing our vessel is a fantastic way to increase intuition. Too often we try to find external solutions for our health when, in reality, our bodies are self-healing and regenerating under the right conditions. In this episode, Meghan teaches us how to begin creating those right conditions and step into a cleansed state of mind. Most products are loaded with things that are doing damage and there's a big-time cost. eliminate gluten and other inflammatory ingredients.choose ingredients that would produce a tasty, functional product and work in the gut to enable inside out transformation.partner with artisanal bakers willing to experiment with baking methods and ingredients. The star ingredient? Psyllium. In this conversation, you'll get all the details on prebiotic fiber and the benefits of activated psyllium, a bio-active polysaccharide.Research done at Wright State University Microbiome Labcompared Uprising Food bread with traditional bread. Early results show that Uprising's prebiotic bread makes nice with gut microbiota. Curious about bread again?
