Canada's bail system is once again being questioned following the shooting of a police officer in Ontario's capital city last fall where the accused was out on bail at the time. The response was so positive, and they enjoyed it so much, they decided to continue booking shows and writing songs. They recorded and released a homemade CD titled Rise Up; which sold over 1,000 copies at local shows. Shortly after, friend and local musician, Sawyer Rikard, joined the band on bass guitar in 2015, bringing their stage sound and performance to another level. In March of 2016, they released a follow-up EP, All Fall Down, which debuted #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. They soon began touring and being invited to festivals such as Rocklahoma, SXSW, Rockfest, Dirtfest, Loud in Lima, etc.In 2018, they joined forces with Legend Recordings, and released another EP, Ascension, which became their biggest release yet with singles “Back to Life” and “Killer Queen” landing on the radio. Shortly after, they added local powerhouse drummer (and childhood friend of Sawyer), Dakota Watson, to form the rhythm section Casandra, Paul, and Sawyer had always dreamed of. In 2019, they recorded standalone single “Love Will Win” with producer/videographer, Jake Jones, which gained even more radio play, and placed them on numerous national tours; supporting artists such as Tantric, Saliva, Yngwie Malmsteen, Dokken, and being added to the KISS Kruise and NAMM Show.The band continued to write, record, livestream, and perform wherever they could during the 2020 pandemic, and only continued to gain traction and fans from all over the world. Reaching out on a whim, they won over the attention of renowned producer/songwriter, Elvis Baskette, and shortly thereafter, entered the studio to record their first professionally made, full length album, Street Magic, in 2021. This release proved to be a monumental success, skyrocketing their audience with over 5 million views and streams across all platforms. Radio singles from this release alone include “For the Record”, “Despicable”, “Repeat Offender”, “Can't Quench the Fire”, and “Only Human”.Paralandra has since toured the country on multiple headlining runs, and is constantly supporting iconic bands such as Warrant, Lita Ford, Firehouse, Last in Line, and countless others with no end in sight. The Justice Minister's defending a gang patch ban in people's homes, planned to be rolled out to repeat offenders.  A clause allowing courts to ban gang insignia in the homes of repeat offenders was added last month after submissions were made at the Select Committee stage.  The bill's expected to pass this month.  The law society says it's alarming it was introduced after the consultation process had ended.  Paul Goldsmith told Mike Hosking there are escalating consequences for those convicted three times.  He says we need to give police the tools to deal with a small section of society causing mayhem.  LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

“Expect that you're going to get pushback from them, because you will,” says Terri Cole, about what can happen when establishing boundaries with others. Terri is a licensed psychotherapist and author of “Boundary Boss.” Together with host Dr. Z, they delve into the critical aspects of setting boundaries and managing interactions with a narcissistic parent.   Terri defines boundaries as personal rules of engagement that communicate to others what behaviors you are willing, and not willing, to tolerate.  Alongside Dr. Z, they explore the common challenges of setting boundaries, including the difficulty of maintaining them in the face of pushback. Terri also introduces a unique framework for categorizing what she refers to as "boundary offenders." They are: Boundary First-Timer, Repeat Offender, and Boundary Destroyer.   Terri and Dr. Z also discuss the challenges of setting boundaries with narcissistic parents and the unique approaches required to effectively manage these extremely complex relationships. This week, our guest is Alisa Bowens-Mercado (@ladylager1). Owner of Rhythm Brewing Company (@rhythmbrewingco). Alisa is the first African American Female Brewer in the state of Connecticut. Alisa also owns Alisa's House Of Salsa......sounds spicy. She teaches Salsa to help everyone find their Rhythm within. We talk about how her grandmother's influenced her to try beers and learned how she went from working in her parents construction business to owner her own businesses. Lady Lager shared and we taste some solid Rhythm Brewing Co's famous unfiltered lagers. She discuss her visions for an upcoming tap room, customers calling her house looking for a pint, Rhythm's Repeat Offenders, the 3 Sip rule and her upcoming new beer release partnered with @hogriverbrewing and @hopculturefarmsandbrewco. This "Bombshell" NEIPA collaboration featuring juicy peach and cara cara orange flavors will be released Saturday, March 5th 1-5pm at Hog River Brewing Co. located in Hartford, CT. Portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Women's Brewing Science Scholarship Fund @brewatshu @pinkbootssociety and @pinkbootsct .   We touch on breweries we've lost in Connecticut and her favorite breweries to visit. One of the staples of the modern music world is the “Greatest Hits” album. When an artist has been around for a while, and they've had at least a few hits, it's customary for their record company to release a new album that re-packages all those hit songs. Have you ever thought about the work required to actually create enough songs for a Greatest Hits album? If you look at the albums of any popular artist, you'll see that they generally only have a couple of truly “hit” songs from each one. Occasionally, you'll have an artist with four or five massive songs from one album such as Richard Marx's 1987 album “Repeat Offender,” which had at least four massive hits. Or you'll have a true superstar like country legend Garth Brooks, who was on such a hot streak in the 1990's that almost every song was a huge hit. And let's not forget the Beatles, who were so far above everyone else that almost everything they touched turned to gold. But the exceptions prove the rule. Most of the time, a band or solo artist making traditional albums only has a couple of hit songs for every ten they put on an album. What's more, they often don't know which 20% of songs will be a hit as they're making the record. They're just doing the work.
