Up in the sky, it's a bird, it's a plane, it's the DCAU Review and they're here to celebrate Superman Day a day late with a continuance of Elseworld's Finest Month and a look at the Man of Steel's most recent iteration in animation, My Adventures with Superman. The hosts pick up where they left off last May with Part II of "Adventures of a Normal Man" and discuss a plot the leans heavily on dialogue and world building while separating itself from other animated versions of Superman. The hosts also talk the main Superman theme, Jack Quaid's take on the Man of Steel, foreshadowing of Task Force X and whether they prefer their Superman capes with or without the "S." All of this and much more await on this week's all new DCAU Review! Please Consider Supporting the Podcast:Become a monthly or one time supporter of the pod at https://buymeacoffee.com/DCAUReviewSubscribe to the pod on Spotify or Apple Podcasts and please consider leaving us a 5-star reviewSubscribe to our new YouTube Channel Support the pod by picking up some merch at our shop https://dcaureview.myspreadshop.comFollow us: Twitter/X @DCAUReview Instagram @DCAUReviewFinal Scores:Plot: Cal: 6/10 – Liam: 7/10Visuals/Animation: Cal: 7/10 – Liam: 8/10Music: Cal: 7/10 – Liam: 6/10Voice Acting: Cal: 8/10 – Liam: 8/10Bonus Point: NoneFinal Tally: Cal: 28/40 – Liam: 29/40

Surprise, friends. Grant Morrison joins the show for Superman Day! As the writer behind the seminal All-Star Superman, which observes its 20th anniversary this November, we cannot think of a better person to help us celebrate the Last Son of Krypton on his 87th birthday. Action Comics #1, featuring the first appearance of Superman by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, hit newsstands on April 18th, 1938. It is the source of everything you love about superhero comics. When Action Comics first arrived, America was in economic ruin. The world was about to enter its second great war. Despair was easily accessible, but two Jewish kids from Cleveland imagined a Man of Steel who could do the impossible and would act for those who could not act for themselves. As we look outside our windows in 2025, we see an incredible darkness, but we strive for a future beyond it. We can imitate the devils in the dark, or we can seek Superman, who reflects the best version of ourselves. Like most people, probably, we first encountered Superman through television and film; it was the All-Star Superman comics by Grant Morrison, Frank Quitely, Jamie Grant, Phil Balsman, and Travis Lanham that solidified our passion for the character. Those twelve issues showcased the joyous, awful, absurd, and adventurous universe Superman populated, making us fall in love with it and our own realm in return. As Morrison writes in Supergods, we are the stories we tell ourselves. In Superman, we see who we've been, who we are, and who we could be. We're positively chuffed to chat Superman with Grant Morrison. We discuss their approach to the character in All-Star Superman and how it differs from the version they wrote in JLA, Action Comics, Final Crisis, and other stories. We discuss the significance of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and what it means for Grant and others to extend their great idea. We talk about Lois and Clark, Lex Luthor, Samson, and Atlas, and Grant Morrison reveals their next big comic project somewhere along the line. Continue our conversation with Grant Morrison by visiting their Website, Substack, Instagram, and Bluesky. This Week's Sponsor: We're sponsored by 2000 AD, the greatest comic you're not reading! Within its pages is a whole universe of characters, from Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog to Rogue Trooper, Shakara, Halo Jones, and the poor sods slogging across the Cursed Earth in The Helltrekkers. Get a print subscription at your door every week - and the first issue is free! Or subscribe digitally, get free back issues, and download DRM-free copies of each issue for just $9 a month. That's 128 pages of incredible monthly comics for less than $10. So much to cover on this one! We celebrate Professor Sam's birthday coinciding with Superman day, disliking comic book annuals, Lana giving Jordan a verbal thrashing, Ally owning Lucy's mind, Clark's new job prospects, Jordan's flight school, Alanis Morsette and Kessel run being the same joke, Batman 66 reference, Nat and John Henry's unnecessary CW conflict, our wish list for finale/cliffhanger and to close it out a long tangent about the state of TV watching. EPISODE 13 “I Used To Call It The Kessel Run.”Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I'm Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody. Happy Birthday Sam! Did you know that your birthday is one day before the official “Superman Day?” Officially, June 12 is considered Superman Day. Let's talk about Superman and Lois Season 2 Episode 13S02E13 - “All Is Lost” Directed by:Elaine MongeonWritten By:Kristi KorzeciTunes recap: Clark and Lois disagree on the best way to figure out if Ally Allston went to the Inverse World. Meanwhile, John Henry makes a surprising discovery and Lois sets out to track Lucy down.HENRY'S NOTES:Lois/ChrissyIs Clark wanting to work at the Smallville Gazette just a backup story or is it for real? It would make sense that Clark wants to start reporting again but he's never mentioned it. Lol to Chrissy being the driver. Chrissy looking at Clark's resume and not wanting to hire him? Why? Wouldn't you want 2 Lois lanes?Lane FamilyLane family going down together. I like it. FINALLY we see Lucy in all of her traumatic delusions. Lois bringing back all the things Lucy did to them including fucking DRUGGING HER FATHER. The way Lois sounds when she's trying to convince Lucy that she loves her is so lectury and factual. Of course Lucy feels the way she does. “I am so sorry I ever made you feel like a burden because the truth is you were my life raft. I wouldn't have survived my childhood without you and I still need you. You have to mean it, you have to show it. Please give me a chance to prove how much I love you.” Dangerous game Lana is playing, sharing with Kyle that she has “secrets.” Good thing Kyle is a bit of a nice dumb guy and didn't bother following up. Sam Lane is great, and Lucy is right when she says she doesn't deserve him. Cushing FamilyIs “who's alanis morsette” and “what's the kessel run?” the same joke?Relax Lana, it's not a big deal that Kyle took Sarah to open mic, in fact it's really sweet. I gotta say I was super into Lana lecturing Jordan. “Not even Superman can keep everyone safe.” Get outta here kid. And I also like that she felt bad about it. Really good acting here Emmanuelle. Clark and the boysBoys, relax. The Cushings are annoying. You've got a cooler friend/sister in Nat and fucking powers like Superman. Jon feeling guilty about his mess up and his Bizarro's murderous spree. Good talk between Clark and Jon. “As a parent you care so much about your kids and I want to protect you but I want you to learn to make your own mistakes and that's really hard but I will always be here when you do.” When Superman says, “it's gonna be fine” he means it. “I still love her, dad.” Please. But great timing to take him flying. The flying training was great because traditionally, Clark just flew and that was it. Even if it was shaky at first or he just leapt at first he then seemed to master it. Like in Man of Steel. I like the idea of Clark spending years at the Fortress just practicing flying. Btw, they could've picked up Jonathan, a winter coat and given him a job instead of just ditching him. Ally AlstonThe cold open “5 years ago” was interesting. It still doesn't give us that much background in her motivations. I like that they actually reference the “LL.” It's also huge that they make mention of being in Lois' shadow. That's gotta be tough. It's cool that they low-key backdoored their way into making Ally The Parasite. Lois literally called her Parasite. I'm not mad about it, even though we made fun of it last week. I actually kind of like it. On Bizarro world Ally has completely taken over. Ally's really good at subtly putting a wedge between Lucy and Lois. It's cool that Ally's doubled voice is her backwards voice behind her regular voice. When Ally demands that she summon Superman, Lois retorts that she doesn't have a red Superman phone to contact him, likely an homage to the red "hotline" Commissioner Gordon used to get in touch with Batman in Batman (1966).Is it consistent or inconsistent with Lucy's character that just when she seems to be coming around she goes full super-villain. I guess the parasite thing is slightly different because she doesn't need to touch people. Scary seeing Superman turn into Bizarro. How does her Parasite powers let her stop a hammer from hitting her? Nat and John Henry IronsNat is smart enough to make a fucking secret Iron Man suit but didn't think. John's overreaction to Nat's suit is both realistic but in the context of the show is kind of dumb. She's clearly an asset and I'm glad that John Henry came to his senses eventually. “I build things, not destroy them.” The conflict was very CW episodey. But it's very cool that Nat's tech is superior. “Agro dad.” I'm so sick of them over-using that term. Do teenagers really talk like that? Very nice resolution by John Henry and not taking things personally. Nice turn of events that Nat gets to save Superman. I think we called that earlier on. Why didn't they try throwing Superman into the Sun?What's next? What if the Earths merging isn't bad? What if it like brings the best out in everyone? I would love to see a cliffhanger where Superman loses all of his powers and Jordan, the Ironses and Jonathan suit up to take over. Next season can pick things up 3 months later with Clark having a summer as a regular guy.

Episode 030 - What is Your Why? Motivation! How many times do you hear, “You have to keep yourself motivated!” It’s true. The real estate industry will beat you down if you let it. Although this may sound altruistic and clichéd: EVERYONE needs a pick me up and a reason to get through those tough times. The question is, what motivates you? Do you have some way to remember it on a daily basis? Just like a plan, your motivation needs to be in your face every day. In this episode we talk about the "how" and to your "why". Find your motivation, write it down and let it lift you up when you need it most! Your clients will thank you! SHOW NOTES 01:13 – We started less than 6 months ago and we are already on episode 030. 02:25 – Episode song of the week: The Why Store, “Lack of Water”. 04:43 – What is your why? What is your motivation? Things that keep you going. It is not an altruistic thing. 06:02 – Side note tangent w/ B, Happy Superman Day! When is The Wasp Day? 07:12 – Cate: Birdy in the back of your head that keeps you going. 07:20 – Helps remind you that you got in this business for a reason. Tired of a having a boss. Make more money. Control your own destiny. Real estate is so easy. ALL of you had some reason to get into the business. 08:50 – This industry beats you down. You chose to get into this industry, and you don’t want to go back to your old life with a boss, no money, etc. 09:20 – It is necessary to WRITE IT DOWN! A quote, a phrase, a picture… 10:15 – Side note tangent w/ B, What is Superman’s dog’s name? Krypto. 10:33 – Cate: Create a vision board. Put it everywhere! 11:23 – Let it remind you why you are tolerating the craziness so you don’t punch someone in the face…metaphorically speaking of course. 11:43 – Side note tangent w/ Cate: Full of random fun facts and useless information. Many successful people have a vision. Jim Carrey wrote a check to himself for $10 million. Will Smith introduced himself as an actor even before he became big. Visualize your reality and make it come true. 14:05 – Cars movie, Lightning McQueen had a blue line that showed the “vision” down the track. 15:30 – The business will kick you in the gut and kneecap you, Tonya Harding style. The motivation will remind you why you are taking those punches. 16:40 – What is the BTL team’s why? 17:10 – B: my kids! My legacy is important. Something to be proud of. They get the motivation and be the best they can be. My quote: “Remember who is watching!” I’m going to set an example to my kids. 18:24 – Christian, outside of the tens of dollars we pay him, what is his why? Like working with people, technical side is fun and enjoys the creativity. Making something out of nothing. Blank canvas is a blessing and a curse. Making something that is here now but wasn’t there before. 19:45 – Cate’s why: 1) kids, make sure they grow up to be happy and good people; 2) our agents, see them succeed and enjoy this career; 3) clients, love seeing them enjoy their homes and make it their home. Warms her heart to see them enjoy their home. 20:25 – Those are things that really matter…Cate also her eye on a Porsche GT 911. 21:05 – Quote of the Episode: Zig Ziglar, “People often say motivation doesn’t last. Neither does bathing, that’s why we recommend it daily.” You need motivation EVERY, SINGLE, DAY! 22:40 – Closing out the episode: motivation will get you through the tough days; write it down; put it everywhere. When you get sick of this industry, look at it and let it remind you why you are in this crazy business. It's a quintessential story of the Golden Age Superman, with jewel thieves, Lois and trouble and Superman flying -- yes, flying -- in for the save. Also, Michael looks at other events from the World's Fair Superman, including Superman Day and the first public appearance of Superman himself in the flesh! Plus, a special cameo by the Golden Age Michael Bailey!
