I'll be the first to admit I'm a hater-turned-big-fan of Tom Brady. Coming from central PA, it was always hard to digest his impeccable abilities, positive attitude and model-like good looks. But when he moved down south and won yet ANOTHER Super Bowl, I had to revisit my old beliefs. I'm now an ex-hater-turned-student of Tom Brady and his methods. This book lays out his approach to football and life. ... Our guest today on a very special episode of the Keep Going Podcast is our co-Founder and 7x Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady. At age 44 and fresh off of his 7th Super Bowl win, Tom entered his 22nd NFL season this Fall after spending the majority of the offseason rehabbing from reconstructive surgery on his MCL. He has picked up right where he left off in the Super Bowl, throwing for 10 TDs and over 1,000 yards in the first three games of the season and diving even further into uncharted territory for an athlete his age. You'll hear Tom speak candidly in this episode about how his daily habits enable him to continue to perform at the highest level, and it's especially interesting to hear just how passionate Tom is when he talks about how the TB12 Method has impacted his life & career. Tom is now just a few days away from returning to New England to lead his defending Super Bowl Champion Buccaneers against the Patriots in one of the most anticipated NFL games in decades. So much has been made of Tom's return to Foxboro recently, and he was open with us about what he expects from his long-awaited return and some of the emotions he's feeling as he prepares to play the Patriots for the first time in his career. You're going to love this incredible conversation with Tom Brady. Let's go!

Allen Campbell is widely known as a leader in the sports nutrition world. Through his culinary acumen, various publications, speaking engagements, consulting, and highly publicized work with athletes, actors and entertainers, he has revolutionized traditional culinary artistry by maximizing health benefits and sustainable practices. Allen’s culinary education began at the age 14 in the Boston suburbs. After 20+ years in the hospitality industry, he earned his stripes, crafted his own culinary style, and sought out a deeper meaning of the traditional “chef” position. Then, the lifestyle itself nearly ended his career.Instead of burning out, Allen woke up, made some radical changes, and began to morph into his calling. And today, Allen is all about one thing – cooking with health as THE priority, period! His efforts locally and nationally, are part of much larger social efforts to bridge the gap between healthcare and the food industry. While sustainable, healthy foods are gaining more and more traction among consumers, the challenge is to keep this momentum going so that more Americans will benefit. The vision of Allen’s latest venture, AC Kitchen is to continue the creation of delicious, healthful foods that do not sacrifice the integrity, flavor, or traditions of our cultures, and cuisines. Allen’s work can be found in The Game of Eating Smart, as well as the TB12 Method and the TB12 Nutrition Manual. His home base is Boston. https://allencampbell.com
We're back with the RX'D Radio Docs this week as we dive into the topic of professional athletes. Specifically, Shallow expresses his rather strong opinions on the athletic career of veteran QB, Tom Brady. Shallow shares with us his theory of "Tom Brady as America’s Smoke Bomb," that is, Brady's mistakes have only to be deployed when the USA needs a distraction. Shallow and Jiunta compare and contrast Brady with Michael Jordan and even bring the controversy of Jeffrey Epstein into the mix. The boys share frustration over “certified body coaches” and what that credential - or lack thereof - really means in the fitness industry. Since we witnessed a great win and performance of Tom Brady in the NFL, we have Dr. J and Evan talking about the basics of food template and physical training to be an excellent athlete and fit in general. The Tom Brady Template, or TB12 Method, is a whole-foods-based diet that protects against diseases, may aid weight loss, and boost your sports performance and recovery. Still, it is very restrictive, not based on sound science, and likely difficult to maintain long term. It is important to note that everyone is unique, and well-known athletes are no exempted. It is still best to know what works for you. The bottom line is, if you want to perform excellently in your field (sports, fitness, etc.), it always encouraged to eat minimal processed, whole foods, etc. It is highly recommended to avoid inflammatory foods or acidic and hydration. It's also good to have a fitness program that aims to achieve adequate energy levels, recovery, performance, and overall health. ===================================== Subscribe on I-Tunes: http://www.beyondwellnessradio.com/itunes Review us at: http://www.beyondwellnessradio.com/itunes Visit us at: http://www.beyondwellnessradio.com Have a question: http://www.beyondwellnessradio.com/question

The Dodgers finally got it done, winning their first World Series since 1988. There's a lot to unpack: Clayton Kershaw saves his legacy, Dave Roberts saves his job, Justin Turner tests positive, the case for Mookie Betts over Mike Trout. Also, after reading the TB12 Method, one thing became apparent. Tom Brady preaches focus, discipline, accountability, consistency and the pursuit of greatness. That's translated to the Buccaneers locker room, changed the culture and has the Buccaneers looking like the best team in the NFC.

"I didn’t know I could get to where I am today. I had a vision and I can show you how I mapped it out… but I didn’t know how I was going to get there, I just knew it was what I wanted to do." On this week’s episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast, I sit down with the super talented Chef Allen Campbell. Houston, we have a problem! Overtime is a man down this week as Neil's schedule with Sky Sports meant he was unable to join Garry at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the Tampa Bay Bucaneers-Carolina Panthers match-up. Fear not, though, as Garry was able to call on Nat Coombs from the popular "Nat Coombs Show" podcast for some help on his NFL journey. The pair caught up in the media cafe at Spurs, where Nat offered some advice on how to deal with NFL players, while also discussing his own NFL-themed show. Here's the list of this week's highlights... First Down: (0m 53s) Garry and Nat chat ahead of kick-off, sharing stories on how Neil has let them both down in the past. Second Down: (8m 3s) We've been looking back at when the London Monarchs reigned in the capital and Phil Alexander returns, remembering how his time in the NFL World League led to trials with the Houston Oilers and Chicago Bears. Third Down: (14m 35s) James King has been back in the movie theatre this week and this time he brings us his view on classic American football movie, Heaven Can Wait. Fourth Down: (20m 21s) There was no TB12 Method last week as Garry struggled to keep up. But he's been back on it, so brings us an uodate. Overtime: (29m 38s) Bruce Arians and Jameis Winston give us their views on what went wrong as the Bucs crashed to defeat against the Panthers in north London. Overtime's conditioning coach Simon Brundish gives more expert opinion on how Tom Brady trains. Fourth Down: (33m 44s) Garry and Neil close out Episode 3 with some quarterback talk after Mitchell Trubisky was injured against the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the Bears' London trip. Tom Brady’s diet has become something of an obsession for many Americans. Since the publication of his 2017 health and wellness book, The TB12 Method, “Touchdown Tom’s” eating habits have gone mainstream in a major way. Every major media outlet has weighed in multiple times and you can even find “I tried Tom Brady’s diet and here’s what happened” videos online. And unlike many fly-by-night celebrity diets, Brady’s has earned staying power. The main reason for this is obviously the halo effect. He’s indisputably one of the greatest and most accomplished athletes of all time, so anything he says and does is likely to be judged favorably. Moreover, Brady isn’t just a Hollywood hunk who got jacked for a superhero movie. Brady’s a world-class athlete who appears to be invincible by normal NFL standards, which many players joke stands for “Not for Long.” Due largely to the brutal nature of the game, the average NFL player lasts just 3.3 years, and many careers are cut short by torn ligaments, broken bones, severe concussions, and the like. Not Brady, though. He’s wrapping up his 19th year in the league with his 9th Super Bowl, and aside from a knee injury that sidelined him in 2008, he hasn’t suffered a major injury in his career. How has he managed to stay so healthy? Well, Brady says his unique diet has contributed to his robust health in a major way and enabled his body to endure and recover from levels of stress and punishment that would break the average person. Hence its popularity. So, what does the Tom Brady diet look like? Well, it mostly consists of plenty of fresh vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and a moderate amount of lean meats like salmon, turkey, and chicken. In other words, it sounds like your average “healthy diet” that many obesity and nutrition scientists have been advocating for the last several decades. It doesn’t stop with “eat a bunch of nutritious things,” however, which is where the controversy begins. Brady’s version of “clean eating” requires more or less only eating nutritious things and prescribes a menagerie of restrictions, including . . . - No gluten, bread, pasta, or white flour of any kind - No coffee or caffeine - No cooking oil - No potatoes, peppers, or mushrooms - No drinking water during or around meals - No eating within 3 hours of bedtime - No eating fruits with other foods In fact, once you’ve wound through all the twists and turns of Brady’s diet, as we’ll do in this podcast, you can’t help but wonder if there was any real method to the apparent madness. I mean, if you were to tear random pages out of the bestselling diet books of the last 20 years and follow whatever you found, you’d likely end up with something similar. Not only that, but thanks to the aggressive commercializing of the TB12 brand, the regimen also includes a number of Brady’s proprietary supplements and other products. All that doesn’t necessarily mean the Tom Brady diet deserves the scrapheap instead of the spotlight, though. As you’ll learn, Brady’s fastidious eating gets more right than wrong and is far superior to the average Western diet, but it’s not without major flaws and fallacies. 6:25 - What is the Tom Brady diet? 12:00 - Should I eat mostly anti-inflammatory foods? 19:16 - Should I eat mostly alkaline foods? 26:07 - Is it bad to combine food groups in one meal? 30:10 - Should I drink half of my body weight in ounces of water per day? 33:48 - Should I eat as little saturated fat and cooking oil as possible? 43:29 - Who is Alex Gurrero? 49:05 - How can I use food to optimize my body composition, well-being, and longevity? With the 2019 NFL London Games less than a fortnight away, Neil and Garry start the countdown to the first match at Tottenham Hotspur stadium. But which team is coming over from Chicago, Garry? Guests this week include Mitchell Trubisky from the Chicago Bears, while Overtime's resident film critic James King looks back at Jerry Maguire. Former London Monarchs kicker Phil Alexander remembers making the first kick in the former NFL World League and we check in on Garry's progress with the TB12 Method. Here's the list of this week's highlights... First Down: (4m 24s) Mitchell Trubiksy speaks with Neil about his excitement at visiting London with the Chicago Bears as they prepare to face off with the Oakland Raiders. Second Down: (10m 59s) James gives us his view on Jerry Maguire, remembering one of Tom Cruise's most memorable cinematic roles. Third Down: (23m 9s) In the second installment of our look back at the history of NFL in London, former London Monarchs kicker Phil Alexander talks us through his rookie season as a Monarch, finishing with victory in the World Bowl. Fourth Down: (30m 28s) How is Garry coping with the TB12 Method? We catch up with him after he's been on the road with a work trip to Spain to find out. So did all that travelling get in the way of his training regime? Overtime: (36m 54s) Garry and Neil close out the episode with some Miami Dolphins talk as Neil frets over their disastrous start to the season. The TB12 Method is a workout/diet regimen developed by alternative medicine practitioner and trainer Alex Guerrero. While this method has attracted the critics, I have no problem with it, and kind of even dig it.
The NFL starts Early! I suppose there are international exhibition games in July, and by August the preseason has started. Of course coaches want to be careful about using their key players before the season starts, so we expect not to see the starters play that much. But practice started last week, and I’m in the 2nd week of June as I record this. When I read Tom Brady's book The TB12 Method, I noticed that he recommends not to drink water 30 minutes before each meal. I was thinking how long would I need to wait after the meal before I started drinking water again. I wondered how long it takes to digest certain foods. Get Athletic Recovery Sleepwear: http://RunningAFEVER.com/sleepwear Fashion Department. In Tom Brady's book The TB12 Method, he recommends what he calls "tech-enabled sleepwear". This is a new term for me and piqued my interest, we're always interested in fashion, especially if it helps us love and live longer. What is this thing? PJ's with fibers impregnated with Far infrared radiation(FIR)-emitting ceramic nanoparticles. A NIH report outlined studies testing the use of Far infrared radiation(FIR) and found health benefits from using this clothing. The principle is not new, it is similar to sauna treatment. FIR is just electromagnetic radiation, like light or radio waves, but we experience it only as heat. In the study one effect was generation of new blood vessels, and this technology was predicted in another book I am reading called Real Age. New routes for the blood could help us if we have clogging in the old routes. FIR has also been used for weight-loss by using belts impregnated with the FIR-emitting particles. It may also reduce production of lactic acid in muscles. Tom Brady partnered with Under Armour to produce a product called Athletic Recovery Sleepwear. Here's a quote from their web site: "The soft, bioceramic print on the inside of the sleepwear absorbes natural heat and reflects Far Infrared back to the skin, helping the body sleep better and recover faster." There are, of course, various styles for men and women, and even sheets! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3699878/ https://www.underarmour.com/en-us/tb12?iid=ingrid&iidasset=171012_TB12_assets_DIG Recorded January 26, 2019. For our very first episode we thought we should discuss one of the most un-realistic fitness approaches in professional sports. The "TB12 Method" has helped make Tom Brady arguably the best quarterback of all time. How much of his health and fitness routine is applicable to the general public?Do you know how much sleep you should get every night? How about the amount of water you are supposed to drink in a day? Are the TB12 exercises and stretches really unique? Join Paul and Ian as they discuss all aspects of the TB12 Method. Find out what is the truth, what is mildly fabricated, and what is total bullshit. Get the book: http://RunningAFEVER.com/tb12book This week's episode is a continuation of my discussion of the diet outlined in Tom Brady's book "The TB12 Method". Tom Brady's diet is 80% alkalyzing foods and 20% acidifying foods. A pH of 7 is the goal, and it takes that combination to get there. In general, vegetables are alkalyzing, meat is acidifying, but here is Tom's short list of specific examples, and some of them are quite surprising. Alkalyzing: ------------- Artichokes Beets Broccoli Brussel Sprouts Cabbage Carrots Cauliflower Chicory Cucumbers Dandelion greens Escarole or Endive Green beans Lettuce (except Iceberg) Potatoes Red cabbage Spinach Squash Sweet peppers Sweet potatoes Vegetable juice made in a juicer Yams Zucchini Acidifying: ------------- Beef Black currants Butter Cheese Chickpeas Cold Cuts Crayfish Hazelnuts Herring Kiwis Lobster Mackerel Mandarin oranges Millet Nectarines Oranges Peanuts Pecans Pineapples Pistachio nuts Pork Pumpkin seeds Raspberries Red currants Salmon Soybeans Strawberries Sunflower seeds Walnuts White bread White rice White wheat Yogurt Tom says that foods should be combined properly in a meal to provide the best digestion. Meats need an acidic environment. Carbohydrates need an alkaline environment. So eat vegetables with either carbs or protein, but not both. Also, drinking water during meals interferes with digestion, so stop drinking water thirty minutes before a meal. This book is very interesting. There's also info on supplementation, a grocery list, and recipes. Get it at http://RunningAFEVER.com. Go Pats! http://RunningAFEVER.com Get the book: http://RunningAFEVER.com/tb12book This weekend is Superbowl 53. For those not in the United States, that's the championship game of American style football. One of the quarterbacks is Tom Brady, who many consider to be the greatest of all time. He is 41, is in his 19th season with the New England Patriots. His stats in the post season are unmatched: He holds 13 super bowl records, this being his 9th appearance, the most of any NFL player in history. He holds 20 post season records and 9 regular season records. When a man is this successful, everyone wants to know his secret. Obviously, there is no one thing that anyone can do to be as successful as Tom Brady. But he has revealed his diet, which he calls TB12 (12 being the number he wears as a player), in a book by the same name. The book is actually called "The TB12 Method" and is more than just a diet book. It covers exercise, hydration, nutrition, training and recovery, and even mental fitness. We'll get into a lot of this in the coming weeks, but for now, let's cover the diet part: The Basics: 1. Eat real, organic, local food. Local food is fresh. even fruits and veg you get in the groc. may have been frozen and thawed more than once. 2. Eat mostly vegetables. 3. Eat seasonally - we need more meat and fat in the winter, more greens and fruits in the summer. 4. Consume essential fatty acids. They carry oxygen, stabilize body temperature, and absorb fat-soluble nutrients. 5. Eat foods high in fiber. This reduces risk of heart disease, hypertension, cancer and gastro-intestinal disease. 6. Eat a variety of foods. Different foods have different nutrients, even different kinds of greens or different kinds of apples. 7. Don't eat refined carbs - avoid spikes in blood sugar. Tom says "I try to avoid eating anything that comes in a box or a bag." (273) 8. Avoid trans fats and saturated fats. 9. Limit dairy foods, they increases inflamation in the digestive tract. 10. Limit salt, it reduces the ability to eliminate toxins from cells. 11. Limit nightshades (mushrooms, eggplants, potatoes, strawberries, bell peppers, etc.). This is not a big deal for most people, but causes enough inflamation that he avoids them. 12. Limit caffeine to no more than 2 cups of coffee. It is related to a wide range of health problems, edginess and stress. 13. Limit alcohol - it contains lots of sugar, so creates inflamation. Some other tricks: 1. Leave the table 75% full (where have we heard that before?). 2. Eat healthy foods first. Don't eat so much lobster that you don't have room for your broccoli. 3. Don't eat 3 hours before bed. Your body needs time to metabolize the food you have eaten that day. 4. Eat more nutrient-dense meals so you don't get hungry. Eat fruit and other healthy snacks. A primary goal of the TB12 diet is reducing or preventing inflamation, which is caused by acidifying foods and reduced by alkalyzing foods. However, acids are needed, they are the building blocks of the protein that in turn builds muscle and essential minerals. We discuss Tom Brady's book The TB12 Method, which Niki read and recounts the "highlights" to you. It's not just about football - it's about all athletes avoiding injury. What started as a hate read may have become something more, but there's definitely some room to question what even is "pliability" and how is Tom Brady categorizing himself as an underdog?
This week we roll out a new segment, HOTTAKE-A-RITA, where Joy and Brandon give their hot takes on each team in the NBA playoffs while drinking Margaritas. SPOILER ALERT: Joy thinks the Warriors are winning the Championship (with Steph Curry). During IN or OUT, Joy is OUT on Floyd Mayweather boxing Conor McGregor in the Octagon, Brandon is confused about Wrestlemania and Ronda Rousey, and they’re both IN on the TB12 Method driving a wedge between Rob Gronkowski and Bill Belichick. We introduce the “Lit List” where Joy and Brandon list the things that they deem “lit” in the past week. Lil Wayne makes the Lit List as a result of his amazing tweets from The Masters. Plus, in this week’s Migos Report we talk Cardi B’s new album, her performance on SNL and potential baby names for her and Offset’s future child.

Natural health expert and Mercola.com founder Dr. Joseph Mercola interviews Alex Guerrero, personal trainer of NFL quarterback Tom Brady, about the program they developed, called the TB12 Method, and how it can help people achieve and maintain peak performance well into old age.
Today I will be reviewing the TB12 Method by Tom Brady. Brady arguably one of the best athletes in the world, describes in this book how he obtains peak performance on and off the field. The book centres on pliability, which is the daily lengthening and softening of the muscles as a way of injury prevention and longevity for not only athletes but everyone. Brady's method also describes how maintaining balance is crucial while making sure nutrition and hydration are maintained to reduce inflammation. I was drawn to this book as I am interested in learning new physical training programmes and I like Brady's emphasis on using resistance bands to supplement strength and conditioning. The book promotes his products at numerous times, and it felt that I wasn't reading an educational book but more an advertisement. For fitness fanatics, there might be some value in the book, but for everyone else, I suggest typing in resistance band training and nutrition in google and learning that way. I rate this book three stars. OMBR --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/oneminutebookreview/message

We held our first ever Paddy Pigskin Book club session this week! Point of discussion: Tom Brady's new book the TB12 Method, full of nonsense and with virtually no medical or scientific references to back it up, naturally as a scientist I had to dive in and pick it apart with Barry. A few beers were had and we had a lot of fun going through it (check the avo ice cream recipe). We rounded out the Joe Montana dedicated show with a Bucs v Giants recap, our week 5 picks and the next installment of our fantasy football segment Paddy's Picks.
