Introduction: Minutes to 6:15 I loved the Fall Guy and am on the second season of AMC's Interview with the Vampire. Chandra enjoyed Challengers. Royals: Minutes 6:15 to 21:30 We've talked for years about this common narrative from the British Press where they'll come up with something the Sussexes need to attend and cover it endlessly. They've done this with Hugh Grosvenor's wedding since the invitations went out in December. Roya Nikkhah, a journalist who regularly gets exclusives from William, reported in The Times that Harry and Meghan weren't invited, which was not true. Then we heard that Harry was invited, but he declined. Chandra thinks that story was pushback from Hugh and Harry to William's narrative. They tried to spin it like Harry declined because William is going to be an usher and Harry is jealous or something. People magazine reported that Harry and Hugh talked on the phone and realized that it would be best if Harry didn't come. We haven't seen Kate since Christmas apart from her video announcement. We've heard Kate is not likely to be at Trooping the Colour on June 15th. She's also not expected to attend any events around the state visit from the Emperor and Empress of Japan on June 25th to 27th. William was asked about Kate this week by a WWII veteran during events ahead of D-Day. William said she's getting better. Just last week People and US claimed that Kate was seen out running errands including making a trip to a chocolate shop with William. This is very bizarre messaging. It seems like Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace are not on the same page. Much of the narrative is to protect William.  Kate is covering US Magazine, and the article is getting a lot of attention on social media because of the quote that “she may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.” Richard Eden in the Daily Mail said a couple of weeks ago that Kate might not be seen until autumn and then Tom Sykes in the Daily Beast reported from sources that she won't be back until next year. It feels like a different narrative keeps taking over and being taken back. Shiloh Jolie: Minutes 21:30 to 26:15 Shiloh Jolie, who is now 18, filed to have Pitt officially dropped as her last legal name. She hired her own lawyer and filed the paperwork herself. We've previously heard that Vivienne, who turns 16 next month, is only using Jolie as her last name, and that Zahara is only using Jolie as her last name in college. Brad Pitt and his children have been estranged for years since he abused and terrorized them on an airplane in 2016. A source told People that Brad Pitt is “aware and upset that Shiloh dropped his last name. He's never felt more joy than when she was born. He always wanted a daughter.” Brad and Angelina already had daughter Zahara for a year when Shiloh was born. All of Brad's statements to outlets about this have been self-centered and lack any remorse or responsibility. We hope the public sees him for who he is soon. Comments of the Week: Minutes 26:15 to end Chandra's comment of the week is from Miranda on the post about Trump getting convicted finally. My comment of the week is from Jennifer on the post about Jennifer Lopez canceling her tour. Thanks for listening bitches!

According to Princess Diana, Prince Charles once asked her in a towering bad temper: ‘Am I to be the only Prince of Wales not to be allowed a mistress?' Taking their cue from the landed aristocracy, British royals have for centuries ‘married for the dynasty' then engaged in semi-official affairs - or even long term parallel relationships - with others in their circle. Those marrying into the family were expected to ‘understand' and not make a public fuss, and many did (unlike Diana!).Our guest this week, Tom Sykes, has a very good reason to care about this story. He's a writer and the royal correspondent for The Daily Beast - and he thinks that his own grandmother, Camilla Sykes (nee Russell) may have had a long term love affair with the King. In fact members of Tom's family going back several generations have been closely involved with the British royals at their wildest and naughtiest - including Edward VII when he was a most scandalous Prince of Wales. Hearing their stories provides a unique window into the social history of Upper Class Britain. Welcome to episode 40 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast! Our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us an exciting roundup of motorsport events from the past week! As always, we start with Formula 1, where it appears Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner seems to constantly being interviewed by Sky Sports F1! This week's F1 race in Singapore was an action packed one, with lots of crashes and really wet weather! Even from qualifying, the thunder storms caused wet weather, and Championship favourite, Max Verstappen received a grid penalty for running out of fuel. The main race was then delayed because of the severe weather. After a number of safety cars and virtual safety cars, Sergio Perez brought his Red Bull car home to win, with Ferrari's Charles LeClerc in 2nd and his team mate, Carlos Sainz in 3rd. Verstappen wasn't able to clench the Championship in Singapore, finishing in 7th place. In the W Series, Jamie Chadwick missed out on a championship win after crashing out in Singapore. With rumours of W Series running out of money, will the championship continue? New Zealand saw the latest stint from the World Rally Championship. Finnish driver, Kalle Rovanperä became the youngest driver to ever win a World Rally Championship, at the age of just 22. The Moto GP riders were in Thailand in what could've been the wettest Moto GP ever, with bikes power sliding everywhere on the wet track. The win of round 17 went to Miguel Oliveira on his Red Bull KTM. Across in the USA, NASCAR was at the Talledega Speedway in Alabama. Chase Elliot took the win ahead of the next race at Charlotte to determine the final 8 drivers for the Championship. The British Superbikes are also in their play off stage. Tarran MacKenzie is still recovering from his broken leg so wasn't racing at Donington Park. Jason O'Halloran was racing well, with 2nd place in the sprint race, but was unfortunately involved in an accident and taken away in an ambulance. We hope for a speedy recovery. Tom Sykes was taken out by this crash, having won both the sprint race and the 2nd race. Whilst the 3rd race win went to Bradley Ray, who is on his way to a championship win. Next weekend, we have BTCC at Brands Hatch and F1 in Japan. Will Max Verstappen win the Championship this time? We have the NASCAR oval at Charlotte, with 4 drivers being cut. Looking forward to next weekend!

Intro: Minutes 0 to 2:30 Chandra stayed up on election night and I went to bed early. Our sleep schedules are screwed up from daylight savings time.  The election: Minutes 2:30 to 16:45 As of our recording on Thursday afternoon, all that was left to do was call individual states. It looked like Biden had won Nevada and Arizona and in Pennsylvania they were still counting the absentee ballots. Georgia was getting really close. Trump’s lawsuits in Georgia and Michigan had been dismissed. Trump always tells on himself by asking for the vote counts to be stopped. His speech early Wednesday morning made it clear he didn’t understand how early returns work. Chandra has been laughing since she saw the vote count in Arizona.  There are a lot of exit polls and demographics coming out about who voted for Biden. Chandra wants us to wait a few weeks until this all shakes out. I play a section from Zoom where Zakia assures April that Pennsylvania will go for Biden. Chandra has organized in Pennsylvania and they have a lot of blue pockets. I play a segment from Zoom when we had just learned that Michigan had been called for Biden. Courtney makes that announcement and Zakia says Trump no longer has a way to win. Chandra says Biden’s goal was to get Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin back to blue. I mention the Eminem ad for Biden and Chandra says it’s nice to see Eminem stand up for his beliefs. Chandra mentions that Biden is being saved by Black voters. I play clips of videos from Detroit where an organizer says that Detroit will deliver the state for Biden. Another guy went into a Trump crowd and trolled them, yelling “Black Lives Matter.” The best scenario over the next few months would be Trump going to one of his resort properties. Chandra saw Nicole Wallace say on MSNBC that Trump won’t participate in a civil transfer of power. Kardashians: Minutes 16:45 to 23:15 During our break Kim Kardashian flew her friends out to celebrate her 40th birthday on a private island. It was Marlon Brandon’s private island in the South Pacific and the flight was 11 hours. Kim’s tone deaf photos and posts about it launched so many memes. Here are the ones Chandra mentioned. The most disturbing part about the photos were the people in the background serving them wearing masks. Kendall Jenner had her 25th birthday at a rooftop bar at a club. There were reportedly 100 people there and there’s a video of a waiter in a mask moving back as he holds the cake for her while she blows out the candles. She supposedly had people take rapid covid tests, but those are not accurate. We clown on Kim’s budget-looking birthday cake, which looked like a basic tiered cake with a Barbie stuck on top of it. Chandra mentions the 60k people who voted for Kanye, which is despicable. We don’t know who Kim voted for. I play a segment from Zoom where Ameerah talks about the video of Kendall blowing out the candles and Jasmine wonders why they didn’t have the party at one of their giant mansions. Royals: Minutes 23:15 to 32 We heard early in the week that Prince William had coronavirus sometime in April and never disclosed it. Several royal commentators who are very pro-Cambridge were openly mad at William for hiding his diagnosis. We heard that Prince Charles had covid in late March. Around that time Boris Johnson also had coronavirus and was deathly ill. Prince William was still meeting with people around that time and wasn’t wearing a mask. No one knows when he had it and he had a duty to disclose. Plus of course they didn’t do contact tracing if he hid it. We wonder why this story came out now and why The Sun’s exclusive was so oddly worded. William supposedly made the announcement at an event, but no one knows the event. The Daily Beast’s Tom Sykes did a story about this wondering about the timeline and how and why The Sun got the scoop. Chandra thinks William gave The Sun this story to hide a bigger lead they had, maybe about Rose Hanbury. I play a segment from Zoom where Courtney, Jasmine and Rhiannon talk about this.  User Feedback: Minutes 32 to 36 Thanks to my aunt's neighbor, Meghan, for the nice email. Thanks Stephanie for your tweet about the photos Chandra picks.  Comments of the Week: Minutes 36 to 40 Chandra’s comment of the week is from Snuffles on the post where Chandra joked that Duchess Meghan should be Senator Sussex. My comment of the week is from Lemons on the post about Alton Brown

Intro: Minutes 0 to 3:30 Chandra had a bad experience getting her car inspected. My son is learning how to drive and I kind of like it. You can listen below! The Royals: Minutes 3:30 to 25:30 I’m burnt out on the Sussexes and the royals after reading Finding Freedom in a few days. Chandra points out that the book started as Harry and Meghan’s love story but that it got changed. You could tell when the writing switched.  Author Omid Scobie recently said that he didn’t give the book to the Sussexes to read or approve ahead of time and that he didn’t know if they’d read it yet. It’s complimentary toward the Sussexes but does admit when they make some mistakes. Minute 6:00: In another interview Omid said Kate made Meghan look incredibly old fashioned, which is true. He said he didn’t think the Sussexes would want to be working royals again. Chandra is interested in Omid’s claims that he thinks they’ll go back to England to do charity work occasionally. People Magazine says that the Sussexes original plan was to split time between Canada and The UK. Minute 7:30: We also got a story from Emily Andrews, the Daily Mail’s royal editor. She said that Meghan’s expectations for a friendly relationship with Kate were unrealistic. Finding Freedom made it clear that Kate barely spent time with Meghan and didn’t try to get to know her. I play a segment from Zoom where Laura points out how weak Emily Andrew’s examples of Kate befriending Meghan were. Karen notes that the story has changed about how much Kate helped Meghan. Minute 10:45: The craziest story this week was Richard Kay’s denial in the Daily Mail of tiaragate, the ever-changing story about Meghan supposedly demanding an emerald tiara from The Queen. Finding Freedom sets the record straight with an extensive description of Meghan’s tiara selection, attended by Prince Harry, The Queen and The Queen’s personal dresser, Angela Kelly. Kay's story was so petty and detailed and surely came straight from Angela Kelly, the Queen’s dresser. The article took offense to Harry allegedly calling Angela “this woman,” because the book had a similar line from William that upset Harry. William is said to have told Harry, when Harry was dating Meghan, not to rush things and to “take as much time as you need to get to know this girl.” Kay really glommed on to the “This woman/This girl” comparison and called Harry a hypocrite for using the same phrase he was offended by. Minute 15:00: The article also focused on how close Angela and The Queen are and made it sound like they are lovers! I play a segment from Zoom where Zakia compares the coutiers’ treatment of Meghan to an abusive relationship. Karen says that it’s just a way to cloak their racism. Minute 18:00: Other stories from Finding Freedom that we reported on since last week include that Meghan’s work style was very “American” and was seen as “abrasive” and too direct by the courtiers.  Minute 19:30: One story which didn’t make it into Finding Freedom, but which found new life this week, was Prince William’s affair with Kate’s “rural rival,” Rose Hanbury. Daily Beast’s royal journalist, Tom Sykes, gave some clues about his source for that older story.  I play a segment from Zoom where Ameerah points out how nasty Tom Sykes has been about Meghan. Lisa mentions how much Jecca Craig, Kate and Rose look alike. (They do! I put a side by side photo of them on the post for this podcast.) Democratic National Convention: Minutes 25:30 to 31:45 We had the virtual Democratic National Convention this week. My favorite part was the roll call from the different states. Chandra loved the calamari guy in the segment from Rhode Island. Michelle Obama made an incredible speech which was authentic for her. I say she mom-shamed Trump and Chandra reminds me that Hillary did that first. Michelle does go high but the rest of us don’t have to. We also liked Kamala Harris’ speech and noticed how a lot of speakers brought up both the next generation and our parents, who worked so hard for us to be here. Chandra says that Kamala’s story is such an “child of immigrants” story. She’s had an incredible journey and Chandra loves how she leaned into her personal narrative. Chandra noticed that Jill Biden, Kamala, Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton all talk like teachers and like Chandra’s mom.  User Feedback: Minutes 31:45 to 32:30 Thanks Emma and Margaret for your nice emails! Comments of the Week: Minutes 32:30 to 36:00 My comment of the week is from Furqan Reisen on Twitter. This Week in Rec Tech is Sponsored by Rejobify.com Im chris russell here are the headlines this week in recruiting technology Linkup job data is out: In May, created job listings were up 12%, while deleted listings were down 16% - a promising sign that organizations are gaining the confidence to start hiring again. While jobs overall continued to decline, they declined at a slower rate than the previous month. May's job listings were down -10% nationwide; a huge improvement from a dismal -29% in April. April showed jobs down in 100% of industries, occupations and states, May shows slight improvement in two of the three (industries and states). In this climate, we’ll take that as a win!    BOSTON–Trade Hounds, the largest professional community built exclusively for the construction industry, today announced the closing of its $3.2 million seed funding round. The round was led by prominent seed-stage venture capital firms Corigin Ventures and Brick and Mortar Ventures, both of which have significant experience investing in construction technology startups. Investors in the round include Suffolk Construction, one of the nation’s top construction companies, and CCS Construction Staffing, a premier construction staffing firm, reflecting the important role Trade Hounds plays in connecting participants across the construction ecosystem. In conjunction with the funding, Trade Hounds announced plans to launch a Jobs platform this summer that links qualified tradespeople with construction companies and staffing firms, enabling fast, seamless communication. Construction companies and the staffing firms that support them stand to benefit from immediate access to a larger pool of qualified candidates, including the passive job seekers who post about their work on Trade Hounds but may not be actively searching for work on job boards. Skilled tradespeople benefit from a community of like-minded professionals where they can showcase their skills and find new career opportunities. CoderPad supports more than 30 programming languages for use during the interview process. https://hrtechfeed.com/coderpad-raises-growth-capital-for-its-technical-assessment-platform/ NEW YORK--Greenhouse, the hiring software company, today launched its interactive Hiring Maturity assessment to help companies improve their hiring performance. Hiring Maturity is the Greenhouse methodology for how companies can assess the effectiveness of their recruitment strategy so that they can work to improve their hiring performance and identify areas of opportunities, even when they’re not actively hiring. Guidance from the assessment results empower talent acquisition (TA) teams and business leaders to transform their hiring strategy, and in turn elevate their company’s culture and productivity. By taking the 12-question assessment, companies will receive personalized results with actionable ideas to immediately make a difference in their recruiting efforts. Greenhouse’s Hiring Maturity assessment draws on closed-loop, anonymized reporting data from thousands of companies which has helped them understand the challenges TA teams face when developing a successful hiring process. The ability to benchmark against industry peers and Talent MakersTM provides companies with insights about their own hiring and recruiting workflows and how they can be improved. By recognizing patterns and parallels, teams can identify behaviors to transform recruiting into their competitive advantage. “There are so many teams in the weeds doing the tactical work of making today’s hires. But true, transformational success only comes when you take the time to step back and figure out how to build new, lasting capabilities,” said Jon Stross, president and co-founder, Greenhouse. “We’re using Hiring Maturity as a model to help people understand where they currently are and what they need to do to get better. To establish an efficient and high-performing hiring practice, companies must make intentional changes in every part of the process. Hiring isn’t just a series of one-off tasks the recruiters do. It’s a company-wide competency that directly impacts how your business performs overall.” There are four stages of Hiring Maturity, and the assessment provides insights and feedback in all the critical areas of hiring based on the company’s hiring practices. https://hrtechfeed.com/greenhouse-adds-hiring-maturity-assessment/ ########## Got a project that an HR freelancer can handle? By the end of June 1940 the Battle of France was over, the British Army had been plucked from the Beaches of Dunkirk, but much of its heavy equipment had been abandoned in France. It looked like Britain would be the next target for the Nazi war machine… Having witnessed the debacle in France a betting man might have put his money on the Germans when it came to invading England. On the 14th of May 1940 Anthony Eden had called on men between 17 and 65 in Britain who were not in military service but wished to defend their country to enrol in the Local Defence Volunteers. By July over 1.5million Britons has volunteered… Another group was also created, a clandestine army that in the event of invasion would be called upon. Britain would be the first nation to have a pre-planed resistance network, the went under the unassuming name of Auxiliary, or Aux Units. I’m joined by Tom Sykes from the ColesHill Auxiliary Research Team.
