In this week's episode, Natalie and Adrienne interview Beth. From dance major to yoga mat, Beth's path hasn't been easy. She speaks candidly about her past struggles and how Yoga became a lifeline, teaching her resilience, patience, and the beauty of simply showing up. She reveals how the quiet law of observation, and the connections built through practice, can carry us through even the hardest seasons of life. Beth's story is a reminder that Yoga mirrors life itself: resilience grows when we stay present, compassion blooms when we stay connected, and freedom is found when we allow things to simply unfold.Click here to follow Beth on InstagramSend us a textWanna be on the show? What's your vision for how you want to teach yoga? When you close your eyes and dream about how you want to show up in your classes, what do you see? For many yoga teachers, they have a clear vision but their day to day experience doesn't match that vision. In my work with yoga teachers in my program, I get to see what it looks like when a teacher starts teaching in a way that is more in line with how they want to show up. This is the stuff of what I call “Yoga Teacher Transformations.” In this episode, you'll hear the stories of two yoga teachers and the transformations they experienced as well as get an action plan for how you can start to make your vision come true too. Have you ever wondered what those $300 online teacher trainings were like?Well, I asked someone who both teaches online and also has looked through more than one of these. What really makes a yoga teacher training “good”? In this episode, we explore the realities of online vs. in-person YTTs, why pacing and feedback matter, and how affordability impacts accessibility in the yoga profession. Katlyn Greiner and I delve into the myth that higher costs equal higher quality, the role mentorship can play in shaping new teachers, and the financial realities of studios running training sessions. Plus, we unpack the tension between brand cohesion and creativity in the yoga business.KEY TAKEAWAYS 1. Online vs. in-person training Asynchronous, low-cost YTTs aren't inherently “less than.” We need to rethink perceptions of online vs. in-person education.2. Pacing matters Dumping all the content at once isn't effective. Pacing supports integration and embodiment of teachings.3. Feedback is essential Integrated feedback—live or asynchronous—is key to learning, relationship-building, and quality in online trainings.4. Financial accessibility Low-cost trainings expand access. Eliminating them would reduce opportunities for many aspiring teachers.5. Mentorship as the missing link Imagine affordable online YTTs paired with paid local mentorship—a model that supports both new teachers and experienced guides.6. Rethinking “quality” High price ≠ high quality. Metrics for strong training should include teaching skill, student engagement, and practical business acumen.7. Teacher trainings ≠ cash cow For many studios, YTTs aren't highly profitable—they're a labor of love or a way to train new teachers.8. Creativity vs. brand cohesion Studios must balance cohesive branding with honoring yoga as a creative practice. Navigating that tension is key to sustainable growth.RESOURCESWorking In Yoga WebsiteWorking In Yoga NewsletterPodcast ShopRegister for the FREE webinarKatlyn's IG

This is a vulnerable episode for me to share, but it was very important to me to record and release this episode because it highlights something I don't think we see enough: people in positions of power, privilege or leadership openly receiving feedback. Janie Ganga is a yoga teacher I deeply admire and have worked closely with for nearly a decade. In May of this year, they reached out to tell me something I had posted on social media had upset and hurt them. (Here is the reel that started it all.) We've had several conversations about the situation since, and this episode is the culmination and public sharing of how we worked through that. Please listen, share it widely, and let us know how it lands with you. Janie Ganga (she/they) is an E-RYT 500 Yoga Teacher, social justice activist, and co-owner of Santosha Yoga, an online studio rooted in the Providence, RI community. Certified in I AM Yoga since 2013, Ganga specializes in Private Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Let Your Yoga Dance, and is completing certification as a Yoga Therapist. Beyond the mat, Janie has organized queer community events for years – creating queer friendly femme-centered spaces in Boston with madFemmePride and co-leading the 2006 Transcending Boundaries Conference, which brought together activists for Transgender, Bisexual, Intersex, Polyamorous, and Kink Rights. As a Professional Member of ASDAH (Association for Size Diversity and Health), Janie is guided by Health at Every Size and is passionate about making yoga accessible to all bodies and identities. Anne Lamott's son “called on” his mom after a transphobic tweet - Janie stumbled on this story after she questioned a colleague about sharing a Lamott's quote. Ganga discovered Lamott had publicly apologized, though the apology received little attention compared to the initial harm. Public Enemies, Private Friends - recommended by Janie's friend Marshall Miller, this documentary highlights dialogue between pro-choice and pro-life leaders in 1990s Boston. Accessible Yoga Podcast - hearing Jivana Heyman speak about his own activism and yoga inspired Janie to share her own perspective more openly. In today's episode, Adrienne guides you through a deeply restorative Yoga Nidra practice designed to help you welcome new seasons, new routines, and fresh habits into your life.Yoga Nidra—often called yogic sleep—is a state of conscious relaxation that allows the body to rest deeply while your mind remains awake and aware. Unlike ordinary sleep, Yoga Nidra takes you through stages of awareness that calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and open space for clarity and renewal. Research shows that this practice can improve sleep, enhance creativity, and help integrate positive change into daily life. Our theme for this practice is embracing new beginnings—whether that's shifting into a new season, starting fresh routines, or letting go of old patterns that no longer serve you. Through body awareness, breath, intention-setting, and guided visualization, you'll plant seeds of gratitude and self-care that can grow into lasting habits. This practice is your invitation to rest, restore, and reset. Find a quiet space, lie down, and allow yourself to be guided. By the end, you may feel lighter, clearer, and more ready to step into new rhythms with intention.Send us a textWanna be on the show? In this episode, you'll discover how to save time as a yoga teacher from the weekly and monthly tasks that so many yoga teachers do. These things include prepping a new sequence every week, practicing it at home, researching anatomy questions and more. These activities, while they may seem required, are often fueled by beliefs that are perpetuated by a narrative in the yoga industry that doesn't serve teachers teaching in a way that feels easy and fun. We explore how to navigate the tension between duty and desire, and why authentic action is essential for both spiritual growth and collective harmony. I break down:

While I'm still in India, I wanted to revisit one of the most meaningful conversations I've had on the podcast, with Judith Hanson Lasater on non-violent communication for yoga teachers. I chose to share this episode again after receiving a surprising email that made me reflect deeply on how we speak to our teachers, students, and each other in the yoga space. This conversation is a beautiful reminder of how Ahimsa and respect show up not just in our practice, but in our communication, especially in the hard moments. I hope it offers insight, grounding, and a fresh perspective.Episode Highlights:What is non-violent communication? Is NVC more significant for yoga teachers? NVC is not for others but for usHow to engage with empathy? Who is NVC for? Where does violence start in communication? Cancel culture in the yoga world Should we respond to cancel culture in the yoga world?NVC exercise live on the podcast about cancel culture What are we giving our presence to? Why it matters? I did not see this coming... but yes, I made an AI course—and in this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes. If you're skeptical about AI (like I was), or curious about how technology can actually support your intuition, creativity, and nervous system regulation, this conversation is for you. I'm sharing the full backstory of how this course was born, what makes it radically different from other AI trainings, and why I believe heart-led entrepreneurs need a feminine, ethical, and relational approach to tech right now. You'll hear about:
I remember when Mike Boyes first came to Studio 108 to practice Kundalini Yoga....We were in the front room. Yup! This was prior to those pilates reformers! It was sunny hot on the windows and Mike sat to my right. His presence was confident + steady. His gaze didn't waiver. After class, we talked about the practice. He shared that he had just finished teacher training and was looking forward to finding a studio home. By the end of the conversation, I said what I always say: "It happens in your daily practice. I practice every day."He looked me straight in the eyes. And then he showed. Every week. AND he committed to his daily personal practice - every day - to this day. And THAT is why Mike is a great teacher. He's been teaching our Sunday morning class since 2022. He's taught at studios and schools throughout the city. And he's at Edgewater Park every Friday night for a community class. His gong game is second to none. You should 100% check out his offerings. Anyway - in this conversation, we just chat it all up! Find Mike at www.sovereignsoulkundalini.com@sovereignsoul_kundaliniThanks for Following!
In Episode 137: “Your Body Remembers How to Come Home,” we interviewed Rubina Chadha, founder of Inner Design. In this conversation, she shares how Yoga became an anchor during seasons of transformation, teaching her how to come home to herself—not just during the sacred hour on the mat, but in all 23 hours beyond. She reflects on how the body holds both memory and wisdom, so no matter how far we travel, the body can guide us back home .Rubina brings forward a simple yet profound truth: the body is a repository of memory and belonging. This meditation is centered on returning to your true self through the body's intelligence. So take some time for you to reconnect—to release what doesn't serve you, and rediscover the deep sense of “home” lodged in your own being.Send us a textWanna be on the show? Adam shares his personal journey of recovery following a hip replacement surgery, reflecting on the challenges and insights gained during the process. He delves into the role of yoga teachers, discussing the pressure to perform and the misconception that teachers must be the best practitioners in the room. He emphasizes the importance of fostering a supportive environment for students, where they can explore their own practice without the burden of comparison. He advocates for a shift in perspective regarding the validity of teachers, highlighting that their worth should not solely be based on physical ability but rather on their capacity to guide and support their students. The conversation culminates in a call for honesty and compassion within the teaching community, encouraging teachers to embrace their humanity and the realities of aging and injury. www.keenonyoga.com | @adam_keen_ashtanga YOUTUBE https://www.youtube.com/@keenonyoga SUPPORT KEEN ON YOGA Subscribe, like and share our videos Buy us a coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/infoRf Patrons €10 per month: https://www.keenonyoga.com/patrons/ FOLLOW Website: www.keenonyoga.com Instagram: @keen_on_yoga | @adam_keen_ashtanga Linktree: https://linktr.ee/Keenonyoga Key Points · Recovery from surgery is a gradual process. · Yoga teachers should focus on teaching, not performing. · The pressure to be the best can hinder effective teaching. · Idealizing teachers can create unrealistic expectations for students. · Teaching should prioritize individual student growth over performance. · Aging and injury are natural parts of a teacher's journey. · Teachers should not feel like frauds for their physical limitations. · Kindness and care are essential qualities in teaching. · Students need space to explore their practice without pressure. · The essence of yoga is about being present and authentic.
“I knew teaching 20 classes a week wasn't sustainable. I wanted to find something slower, more spacious.”Lucy Sesto (@sestoyoga) shares how her journey from GB acrobatic gymnast to sought-after yoga teacher shaped a uniquely grounded and artistic approach to teaching. With a background in Psychology and Sociology, Lucy combines movement and self-inquiry in a way that feels both intelligent and deeply human. We explore her shift from gym floors and reception desks to managing a London wellness studio, teaching corporate yoga, running international retreats, and working alongside Joe Wicks on the Bodycoach platform. Lucy speaks openly about her intention to “make art, not content” on social media, the pressures of constant creation, and the power of stepping back to reconnect with joy and creativity. She also unpacks the emotional reality of holding space for others, setting boundaries, and how yoga and psychology beautifully intertwine. Whether you're a yoga teacher, a creative entrepreneur, or someone figuring out your next chapter, Lucy offers grounded wisdom and gentle humour on how to live and work more authentically—and why slowing down is sometimes the most radical thing you can do.WANT TO BE A YOGA TEACHER? - training in London, UK every Spring and Fall at triyoga Camden - https://tr.ee/1UILsE-WANT TO RETREAT WITH ME? - next stop, a Lake District castle - https://tr.ee/t4NViA-MAKE SURE YOU FOLLOW US …@adamhusler - https://tr.ee/b8QKyF@honestlyunbalanced - https://tr.ee/i1PXpT @iamhollyhusler - https://tr.ee/0ORJPX-PERKS FOR YOU10% off Liforme yoga mats with code HUSLER10 - https://tr.ee/PEju3010% off expert validated wellbeing brand at Healf via this link - https://tr.ee/dPMj2Y 10% off Colorful Standard clothing with code ADAMHUSLERCS10 - https://tr.ee/R1ugsk20% off Vivobarefoot shoes with code HUSLER20 - https://tr.ee/3Hs8kU5% off Nurosym vagus nerve stimulation device with code ADAMH5 https://tr.ee/CCbg8x25% off our online studio full of yoga, sound and meditation, with code HONEST25 (25% off single 12 month membership or reoccurring monthly membership until cancellation) - https://tr.ee/GCQdTB

Catch this episode and you'll walk away with solutions to problems that yoga teachers are having. These are problems I hear about from teachers all over the world and with all levels of experience. In many cases, they're driven by the narratives in the yoga industry around different things: cueing, sequencing, student injuries and how to teach your class. These beliefs drive behaviors that lead teachers to feel frustrated, boxed in and less than confident. In this episode, you'll hear solutions for problems like: -Fear of students getting hurt in class -Spending hours prepping for class -Feeling underpaid for classes -Being dependent on practicing with class when you really want to do the Walk and Talk -A lack of understanding of anatomy. At the end of the episode, I make you an offer and there's an incentive included since you're a podcast listener so listen for that. From awkward fumbles to unexpected breakthroughs, Natalie and Adrienne spill the top 10 things we wish someone had told us when we started Yoga. We're talking about the myths we believed, the pressure we put on ourselves, and the surprising lessons that unfolded—like how blocks are actually your best friend, why your breath is more important than your backbend, and how touching your toes is not the goal (but falling in forward fold could happen! ).Whether you're new to Yoga or a seasoned teacher, you'll laugh, nod, and maybe cringe along with us. As summer heats up, there's no better time to bring intentional breathwork into your classes, and your own practice. These ancient practices offer immediate relief from physical and emotional heat, making them perfect for summer classes, outdoor yoga, or anytime your nervous system needs calming. Are you feeling overworked and underpaid or even one or the other? Catch this episode and discover how to swap that out and instead feel rewarded, balanced and valued. I heard this statement from a yoga teacher recently as a comment on my social media and I used it to query my email list to see if it resonated. I got a bunch of replies and that told me that we've got a problem. Feeling overworked and underpaid is self-defeating and energy sucking experience and over time, you'll grow to resent your classes. So, instead, listen to this episode and you'll discover how to set your own rate, how to evaluate your teaching schedule so it's filled with rewarding opportunities and how to get all your planning time back so you drop that feeling of being overworked. At the end, I share a special offer that goes with this link: https://barebonesyoga.thinkific.com/courses/Yoga-Anatomy-Accelerator
Are chakras biblical? Is kundalini awakening just emotional hype—or something demonic? In this powerful interview, I sit down with Angela Scafidi, a former yoga teacher who was deep in the New Age movement, to expose the truth about chakras, kundalini energy, and the deception hidden in modern spiritual practices.Angela shares her personal journey from leading yoga classes and practicing energy work to encountering the real Jesus—and walking away from it all. We talk about how seemingly “peaceful” practices like meditation, breathwork, and chakra alignment can open doors to spiritual oppression, and how Satan disguises himself as light to trap people in deception. If you've ever wondered whether Christians can practice yoga, or if the New Age is just harmless self-help, you need to hear Angela's eye-opening story.

What happens when ancient yogic wisdom meets modern embodiment?
What if your inner chaos is sacred? When I first pictured a yogi, I imagined someone always calm, serene… maybe even a little untouchable. But the more I've learned—through somatics, spirituality, and lived experience—the more I believe that true healing means feeling everything. Even rage. In this episode, we dive deep into:
