Welcome to Run With Horses! My name is Norman and my goal is to help you thrive as a follower of Jesus. The spiritual life is both incredibly simple and potentially the most difficult part of your life. God invites you to live intentionally and on His mission. It's very cool that we can do that together! Thank you for joining me today! “If you're new here, you can check out past episodes at runwithhorses.net. As always, I appreciate your feedback, questions, and reviews!” **(27:00 – 23:00)**    Spiritual Habits - "Investing in Community as a Spiritual Discipline"** **(23:00 – 0:00)* *  PART 1 REVIEW: Why a purpose statement?       -  spiritual focus, clarity and daily direction.  **Why Purpose Matters for Every Believer**    - purpose reflects God's design for each person  Ephesians 2:10 -10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. My Purpose Statement– To be a mature disciple of Jesus who makes disciples and gives freely to encourage, support and equip the church on it's journey to fulfill the Great Commission.    - Explain the transition from a Purpose Statement (why we exist and what we aim to accomplish) to a Vision Statement (how we plan to live it out in specific, concrete ways).  **What is a Vision Statement? **    - **Definition:** A Vision Statement identifies the specific focus areas and methods by which we live out our purpose, giving practical direction to our mission.    - Proverbs 16:9 – “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”    - **Example**:  My Vision Statement: My vision is to be meaningfully engaged in discipling men, particularly those in or preparing for ministry, equipping them through intentional, personal relationship and producing resources to encourage and support the spiritual growth of the church. ### 3. **Breaking Down the Vision Statement: Purpose and Action Steps**    - **A. Discipling Men**   From Biblical Purpose – a disciple who makes discipleship From Personal Vision of Application in My Life – discipling men       - **Application**: How to build intentional relationships with men, especially those in or preparing for ministry.       - **Examples of Practical Action Steps**:            - Establish regular meeting times with specific individuals for mentoring.           - Create discipleship materials, books, or guided studies to help facilitate growth.           - Join or start a men's discipleship group.    - **B. Equipping through Intentional Relationships** From Biblical Purpose – a disciple who makes discipleship From Personal Vision of Application in My Life – discipling men       - **Application**: Invest time and resources into building deep, purposeful relationships.       - **Examples of Practical Action Steps**:            - Schedule regular one-on-one conversations focused on their spiritual journey.           - Offer practical tools, such as a Bible study series or recommended readings.           - Set goals with those you're discipling, checking in periodically for progress. **(00:00) END PART 1** **(27:00 – 5:00) BEGIN PART 2**    - **C. Producing Resources for the Church** From Biblical Purpose –  gives freely to encourage, support and equip the church From Personal Vision of Application in My Life –  producing resources to encourage and support the spiritual growth of the church       - **Application**: Develop resources that can be used by the wider church community.       - **Examples of Practical Action Steps**:           - Write articles, create videos, or design teaching outlines that support spiritual growth.           - Collaborate with church leaders on curriculum for small groups or Bible studies.           - Share resources on a website, podcast, or social media to reach a broader audience. ### 4. **Maintaining Focus and Adaptability**    - **Colossians 3:23-24 – “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”    - **Discussion**: How do you Stay focused on your vision even when challenges arise? Both statements written in the front of my journal. Review regularly.    - **Encouragement**: Remain prayerful and seek God's guidance as you live out your vision. Regularly review and adjust your vision as needed to stay aligned with His will. ### 5. **Conclusion and Challenge**    - Summarize the episode by reinforcing the purpose of a Vision Statement as a practical guide for living out your purpose.    - **Challenge**: Create your own Vision Statement with specific actions that reflect your unique calling and gifts.    - Share your Vision Statement!   **(5:00 – 1:00)**   Doctrine of the Month - Doctrine of Man     • Romans 5:12 – 12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— 13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come. 15 But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. 16 And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. 17 For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) 18 Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. 19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.    **(1:00)**     - “Thank you for listening today! Even if you don't take the time to write out your purpose and vision statements, it's worth spending some time thinking and praying about how God made you and what HE designed you for. We were all created for fellowship with Him and have a place in His mission to take the Good News to the world. Be intentional. -If you enjoyed the show you can listen to all the past shows wherever you listen to podcasts. A good place to start is at runwithhorses.net. JOIN DIGITAL CEO ACADEMY AND TURN YOUR PASSION INTO A LIFE OF FREEDOM AND FULFILLMENT: https://www.thelawofattractiontribe.com/digitalceo Whenever I tell people that I run a thriving business while being a stay-at-home mom, the reaction is often the same: "But HOW? Isn't it difficult to manage a business and be a hands-on mom?" You know what's difficult?  Leaving you kids for 10 hours a day to get to a 9-5 job.  Missing important milestones and school events due to a job. Having to work yourself into exhaustion just so you can pay the bills and maybe have a little left over. Living for the weekends and vacations. Chances are if you want to start a business, it's not really about the money. Sure, that's a great benefit, but the real end goal is freedom. Freedom from relying on your boss. Freedom from being tied to a job 5 days a week. Freedom to be your own boss and make your own schedule. Don't get me wrong. I see many business owners work 24/7. But if you truly want freedom, you have to put a system in place that runs your business on autopilot. That's what we discuss on today's episode. I've developed a funnel that works for me 24/7, generating income around the clock to finally hit $10k months on autopilot. I like to call it my own personal ATM machine that makes sales even while I'm sleeping. Here's a real-world example: In just one week, this very masterclass attracted 1,233 qualified people in just 3 days! And no, it doesn't require a massive following or endless hours of work. This week, inside Digital CEO Academy, you get access to Freedom tribe, my course that gives you my entire business system and process, so you can duplicate it. Launching next week, this series is perfect for the slower pace of summer, allowing you to reflect and plan while still enjoying your time off. The series requires only 5 to 15 minutes of your time on weekdays, leaving weekends free to relax or catch up. NOW is the time for those of you feeling unfulfilled in your current roles, struggling with motivation, or dreaming of something different but feeling stuck. The email series is free when you subscribe to my weekly newsletter, "Be Curious." If you're already signed up, expect an email asking if you'd like to join. ---Now, let's move on to this week's tip for building your curiosity muscle and welcoming discomfort for growth.A favorite tool of mine for tracking progress is a jar where you can add a bead or a piece of paper whenever you accomplish something challenging. This week, I'm focusing on networking, a common pain point for my clients. If you hate networking, feel unsure of what to say, or think it's a waste of time, you're not alone. Here are three steps to make networking events more enjoyable:Identify the Benefits: Reflect on how the event could benefit you and envision the kind of people you'd like to meet and interact with. What would they say to you? What kind of profiles would they have?Visualize yourself: Imagine yourself showing up in the way you want others to show up. Think of one valuable thing you can talk about in advance to shift your focus from what you can gain to what you can offer.Set a Challenge: Create a small, manageable goal for the event, like talking to three new people or getting a new contact's information. This challenge should push you out of your comfort zone to promote growth and learning. The purpose of these steps isn't just to make you uncomfortable but to help you learn and gain a new perspective on your capabilities. View it like a game, where completing the challenge unlocks the next level of self-discovery.As always, thank you for joining me today. If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe and leave a review to help grow the show and reach more people.Remember, striving for a career that brings joy and fulfillment is possible. If you have questions or want to discuss anything from this episode, email me at withoutjudgmentcoaching@gmail.com. Episode 1 of 4: Ancient CommunicationCommunication was limited during the early ages, especially as a way to convey messages. However, humans have always been resourceful in finding ways to express themselves, and one of the most interesting methods is the use of sigils. Sigils are symbols or marks that are imbued with magical meaning and intention. They have been used by witches for centuries as a powerful tool for manifestation and communication with the spiritual realm. In this episode of the Waving Magick Podcast, we dive deep into the history and power of sigils. We explore how ancient cultures such as the Egyptians and the Greeks used sigils in their magical practices, and how sigils have been found in many other cultures throughout history. We also discuss how modern witches have adapted the use of sigils in their practice, and how sigils can be used to manifest your intentions in the modern world. We explore the different methods for creating sigils, from traditional methods involving pen and paper, to digital methods using software and apps. We also discuss the different ways that sigils can be used, from simple daily affirmations to complex rituals for manifestation and spell casting. Join us as we explore the fascinating world of sigils and learn how to weave your intention through these powerful symbols. This Week's Challenge: Create your own sigil to remind you of how magical you are throughout the day.If you love tuning into our podcast, then support us in our Patreon where you will receive early access to our magickal content, including bonuses! https://www.patreon.com/weavingmagickpodcastConnect with us on our Weaving Magick socials:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/weavingmagickpodcastTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@weavingmagickpodcastTwitter: https://twitter.com/taraandalyssaYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOhzGt9TvZr8SU_h8YHTSEQTo get to know Tara:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/iamtarawebb/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamtarawebbTo get to know Alyssa:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thealyssalilly/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thealyssalilly Support the show

How do champions think? What you are thinking today has a significant influence on where you go. Growing in your greatness requires a roadmap, measuring to improve, and skills. There is a lot of proactivity in the champion's head and actions. Roadmap A big part of any successful champion is thinking differently from the average joe. They believe that things are always possible, not impossible. They follow a roadmap. It's always about following a proven methodology, according to Jeff Spencer. Preparation Clarity — are you clear on your goals? Motive — do you have the right reason? What motivates you to be the best? What's your drive? Impact — what impact do you want to create? What is your purpose? Mindset — do you have the courage in your abilities to get it done? Resources — do you have the trust in the right coach, yourself, and resources to get you there? Start Start — are you ready to take off and hit the ground running Honeymoon — it might feel like you are almost there, but it's the fake reality. Don't fall prey to that. Daily grind — the hustle, the grind, and going consistently after your goal, day in and day out. Breakout — you are closing in, and you know you'll win. Finish — use the last years of your achievement progress to get over the finish line. Measurement The roadmap allows you to measure your progress and notice where you are on the map. Not just on the road to achievement but in other areas as well. Whether in marketing or as an individual performer, look at how you are progressing. Use your strategic map and your OKRs. Know your progress intimately. Familiarize yourself with your goals and make sure you go and move towards your goals. Skills Growing your impact means you'll have to skill up and get a better sword and equipment. Don't beat yourself up if you don't know or see someone else making faster progress. Your journey is your own. Choose your pace and your destination. The way you get there might change as you mature and grow! That's fine and normal. Challenge: Create your curriculum. How do you want to be? What skills and who inspires you? You can read the entire post here --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mateomelichar/message

In this episode, host, Antoinetta Mosley shares a differentiating tool for change agents and leaders: creating a personal mission statement. Antoinetta estimates that 10% or less of those ages 13 and older have a personal mission statement based on asking audiences of all ages across the country. For example, when she asked the question in two recent speaking engagements, one with a group of high school and collegiate student athletes and another with community leaders, Antoinetta was the only person who had a personal mission statement. After speaking to the student-athletes, she challenged each of them to create their own mission within 4 days of the speech. 7 completed the challenge! Message from Antoinetta: "Congratulations to Julia, Zaria, Cameron, Ethan, Cameren, AJ, and Brea! By accepting the challenge and creating your first personal mission statement, you have set yourselves apart from 90% of the population. Keep making courageous choices and you will continue to be extraordinary. Really amazing world changing things happen for those that choose to be in that top 10%." If you are reading this and create your own personal mission statement for the first time or already have one, please send it to info@ifollowtheleader.com by August 5th at 5 pm EST. Our team will be doing a raffle one week from today on August 5th at 8 pm EST and giving out a $50 gift card to the winner. What is your north star? What is that one thing or list of things that make you want to get out of bed in the morning? I challenge you to create a north star list in this episode!    Transcript:   Welcome to Everyday Happiness where we create lasting happiness, in 2 minutes a day,  through my signature method of Intentional Margins (creating harmony between your to-dos and your priorities), happiness science, and musings about life.    I'm your host Katie Jefcoat and today we're chatting about identifying your north star as an exercise to help us think about what our priorities are so that we can use our Intentional Margins® in our day to live in fulfillment of those priorities.     No one needs all-the-things, just the things that are fulfilling to them.  But if you don't know what that is, you feel stuck on the hamster wheel of todos.     Today, I invite you to make a list of the things, the people, the relationships that matter most to you.     Ask yourself, why are those things important to you?    Then, ask yourself, is there time on my calendar to engage in these priorities? Can I carve out some time?  What would that look like?    What you'll come up with is your North Star list of priorities and your Intentional Margins®.  When you create harmony between your todos - all those things we know we have to get done - and your priorities, you start living in your Intentional Margins®.   For me, these North Star priorities are written in my paper planner so that I can refer to my list often. I get a new planner every quarter and I re-evaluate (or add something in).  They are in the following order:   Sleep  My husband  My kids  Connection & Relationships  My Businesses    I'm curious, what would be on your North Star list? DM me on social at @everydayhappinesswithkatie and let me know.    And remember, kindness is contagious. Christmas Unmasked When It's Nothing Like You Expected Matthew 2:1-12 After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.'[b]” Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.” After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. Key Point: When you are faced with a situation that is nothing like you expected choose to bring your best and give it. The Gifts of the Magi and what they may represent: 1. Gold for a king (Jesus as king) 2. Frankincense for a high priest (Jesus us intercessor between God and man) 3. Myrrh for sacrifice (Jesus as the sacrifice that would save the world) Key Point: We focus on the presents, but what if it's about the presence. The Challenge: Create an intentional time for total presence with those around you. Possible ideas for creating presence: Turn off the TV Turn off phones (don't look stuff up) Pull out some old photos Play a board game Ask some pre-planned questions to get conversation going

Developing a Grateful Mindset with Angus Nelson: Day 62

Do you struggle to remain thankful? Do you find your mind slowly slipping from a grateful mindset into a negative mindset?  It happens to all of us. It doesn't have to be inevitable. Today's episode is with Angus Nelson, a Men's Performance Coach. He believes it all starts with your mindset which is formed by renewing your mind through creating the right habits. In other words, it's what you believe about God, yourself, and the world that will affect your outlook on life.  Your mindset is based on your beliefs For example, do you truly believe the following? God is a God of abundance (Psalm 65:11).  The kingdom of God is constantly expanding (Mark 4:26-27). God loves me without condition (1 Cor. 13). I am more than enough because God is more than enough (Ps. 68:28). I have what it takes (2 Cor. 12:9). Jesus' sacrifice on the cross is truly sufficient for all my sins: past, present, and future (2 Cor. 2:6). If you believe the opposite of these, you will increasingly embrace a negative mindset. But if you consistently rehearse these truths, your mind will grow in strength and confidence. We discussed this idea on Day 31 when we talked about Thankful Thinking. It starts with the brain Your brain is the “number solution organ on the planet.” It wants to solve problems, starting with your beliefs about yourself. “What you hear about you think about. What you think about you talk about. What you talk about you bring about.” --Angus Nelson Change your mindset through habits, not goals Setting goals will not solve mindset issues. In fact, goals can cause you to coast once you meet the goal.  Instead we need to create new neuropathways. New mental habits. The best way to do that is to create a daily manifest or set of beliefs that we will rehearse.  Science shows us that information attached to emotion has far more power to transform us. Reciting information will lead to boredom and could possibly innoculate us to the truths we rehearse. But if we learn to practice intentionally and attach emotions to each statement it can lead to transformation. Angus created the 10 Minute Motivator to help anyone who wants to make daily changes in how they think and live. LINK: https://www.manofwealth.com/10minutemotivator  The role of discipline in mindset Pastor Craig Groeschel said: “Discipline is choosing what you want most over what you want now.” Creating a new set of mental routines will be hard work, but it's well worth it. More from Angus: First interview with Angus: https://maninthepew.com/recover-rock-bottom-angus-nelson/  CHALLENGE: Create a daily plan for training your mind to think more thankfully about God, yourself, and your life. Perhaps use Angus's course. If you want to see my manifest, reach out privately and I'll show you what I did. PRAYER: Father, I praise you that your kingdom is constantly growing. We see in the church where 3000 people followed you on a single day. We know that thousands call on your name every day across the globe today. Forgive us that we get focused on our problems and forget your abundant nature. Renew our minds to think the way you think. Give us grateful hearts. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen. In today’s episode we are going to be talking about how to choose your career path with one single question. As creatives, it can be overwhelming to narrow in on what your main goal should be. And the phrase I’ll teach you will not only save you time and money, but lots of heartache and stress. Remember: Keep your focus on your center career, then allow everything else you want to do be in service of it. Allow the other endeavors to support your main initiative so that everything can be built as a well oiled machine. Research: What’s that thing for you? What is that nucleus in your career? Then what are the other things you want to do and accomplish? How can they work together? Challenge: Create a mind-map of your ideal career path starting with your primary focus, then write in everything else you want to do around that center point, describing how they will create a supportive experience to your main career.

With so many different levels of anime intertwined with our pop culture, where do we draw the line with our kids? How do we keep them safe?    Pokemon. Digimon. Manga. Hentai. All of these things are considered “anime” … but what should we allow in our homes? Does “innocent” content lead our kids into darker places? How slippery is the slope? How do we have these conversations with our kids? Lacy Bentley is an expert on these issues, starting out as an anime-obsessed teen girl herself, and now working as a coach, mother, author, and activist who teaches parents how to keep their families safe! Join us as we tackle this tricky topic together and unravel many of the mysteries of anime.   Lacy Bentley is a women's recovery coach, international best selling author, and mom of 4 boys. She feels parents are the ultimate defense between kids and the harms of porn and Hentai. Lacy has a special offer you don’t want to miss! Check out the details below.    For MSM Listeners: Free one-on-one coaching session with Lacy. Are you struggling with anime issues at your house? Not sure what to do? Simply click on the link to sign up for your slot: https://calendly.com/lacybentley/savvy    Highlights from this episode: -There is a difference between cartoons that have sexualized characters and anime that can turn quickly into pornographic content (Hentai). We need to teach our kids how to be alert and discerning when it comes to ANY sexualized content--in anime and everywhere!  -When we notice sexualized content in cartoons (for instance, a sexy girl on Pokemon, or a boy’s eyes bugging out of his head when he sees a pretty girl) we can take the opportunity to talk to our kids. Take the time to teach kids the difference between healthy relationships and what they see in the media.  -Try to lay down boundaries with your kids about what it is and is not ok without destroying the relationship. -Let your kids be the teachers. They love to feel important! Ask them questions about things you don’t understand, and they will be more than happy to show you how smart they are. This is a great way to build your relationship, and you’ll also learn what you want to know. (Kids are way cooler than Google! Talk to them.)  -Praise your kids when they do self-regulate.  -Understand that anime is saturated in our culture and cannot reasonably be avoided altogether. Know the spectrum.  -Some forms of anime, like manga (Japanese comics), actually have a rating system. Look on the cover for the rating, and know that “T” for teen and “OT” for older teen lean towards adult content.  -Be aware: When our kids are allowed to cross age barriers in media--like anime--adult content and inappropriate behavior is likely to cross over into real life.  -Here is a (very small!) list of some of the anime terms that have found their way into popular culture. For more terms and their definitions, follow the links at the bottom of our show notes. Hentai - Anime porn (Japanese word for “pervert”) Wifu/Husbando - Anime characters on pillows Chibi - Small and cute Senpai - A lover, usually older and often a mentor  Yandere - A homicidal (crazed) lover Tsundere - Someone who is originally mean, but ends up being sweet Baka - Dummy. Idiot. Stupid. “Baka!” Manga - Japanese comics Yaoi/Yuri - Manga with homosexual love stories Weeaboo - “Weeb” A non-Japanese person who is obsessed with Japan or Japanese things Cosplay - “Costume play” Dressing up like anime characters Loli - Young, innocent (usually female) characters  Ecchi - playfully sexual, dirty humor (panty shots, nosebleeds, perverted situations)   Challenge: Create a “do-want” list for healthy sexuality as a family. We continue defining our product in this episode.  Our prior episodes looked at the problem to solve, the solution, and general requirements.  Now we can move on to the product specification and deciding on the environment we will use to create it. Design the application structure (core, data model, methods/functions, helpers, screens/output) Challenge: Create the specification from these decisions Choices, Choices, Choices The modern landscape provides a seemingly infinite combination of choices when we consider languages, data stores, platforms, delivery method, and the other variations available to a solution.  There are several things to consider in making this decision. Languages you know (or want to learn) A Suitable platform for your customers The cost to you and thus customers Speed and reliability Maintainability It may appear that there is no single answer to this decision.  That is correct.  The decision may make the solution better or worse to create and deliver.  However, there are many reasons you may choose a path that is not the easiest nor even the most obvious. The Data Model The specification can start from the data or the user experience.  In any case, at some point the data you will capture and manipulate needs to be nailed down.  When you are building out your model there are several things to consider. Core data properties: What data do I need? Data types: Is this a string, a number, a formatted value (phone number, zip code, street address, etc.)? Data relations: How will I report on this data and do I need to link core data facets to each other?  If so, then what data will be used to make that link? Lookup data: Where do I need to provide a list of values for a data value?  Common examples are state names, titles, status values, and more. Seed Data: What data do I need to create in order for the application to be useful?  Do I need to seed a master account profile or type values? Audit: Do I need to be able to track changes to the data?  If so, then at what level and how much detail is needed? The User Experience The other key piece of a specification is essentially the user experience.  This includes the look-and-feel specification.  However, that is just the tip of the iceberg.  The navigation options and locations need to be thought through.  The way that notifications and system messages are displayed is another key part of the application interface.  This also includes system level interfaces like logging to a file or database. This is where you will specify the screens and flow of the application.  These pieces are key to the specification because they will often constrain the way it will be implemented.  When these are not properly specified it increases the risk of coding yourself into a corner. Your Homework Your homework this time around is to create your product specification.  You should be able to knock it out in less than an hour.  Also, you are welcome to send an email to us for feedback or suggestions to help you along.  I have been building a product along the way and you can see my product specification in the document below.  Feel free to use it as a starting point or to give you some ideas on how to approach yours. Challenge: Create a Link Post This is 7th and final challenge in ProBlogger’s 7 Days to Getting Your Blogging Groove Back Challenge that we kicked off back in episode 137. You can listen to this podcast in the player above or here on iTunes (please take a moment to give us a rating and review if you could). If you’re new to the challenge - this week I’m nominating a different style of content for you to create each day over the week and the challenge is to create a post within 24 hours of hearing about it and then sharing it with us in our ProBlogger Challenge Group on FB on this thread. All week hundreds of bloggers have been creating some great posts and today I’m going to present you with a last post in the challenge that has the potential to share the love around our community a little. Before I tell you about today’s challenge…. I also quickly want to tell you about something that is happening in a couple of days time - we’re putting virtual tickets on sale for this year’s ProBlogger event. We hold an annual event for bloggers here in Australia each year and this year - by popular demand - we’re bringing back our virtual ticket so that those of you unable to get out to Australia can come along virtually and get all the amazing teaching we offer live attendees. Today my challenge for you is to create a piece of content that links to someone else’s content. A link post. One of the reasons I was first attracted to blogging was its collaborative nature. Blogs linked from one to another freely and regularly. We linked out when we were inspired by another blogger, when we agreed with another blogger, when we disagreed, when we wanted to encourage them and sometimes just to be useful to our readers. That was back in 2002 but since that time link sharing has gradually gone to other mediums more and more. Today more sharing of links happens on Twitter or Facebook but less so on blogs. This is possibly for good reason, but I sometimes fear that perhaps in losing the link post that maybe we’ve lost something as a community and maybe our readers have too. Benefits of Linking Out to Good Content You Didn’t Create: If you link to good stuff it serves your readers It can show that you’re well read and add to your own credibility It helps you to get on the radar of others that you link to - good things can come from that - great for networking If groups link to one another it can help to pass traffic around I’m told it can actually help your Search rankings if you link to quality sites Approaches You Might Take with Today’s Challenge: Write something inspired by another blogger Find a collection of things to link to on a common theme Create a “reading roundup” Another idea - why not head over to the FB Challenge Group and find a few articles from this last week to be the basis of your link post. Find half a dozen articles that are relevant to your niche or that you got some inspiration in and create a post based upon that. The key 3 things I would encourage you to keep in mind: Keep it relevant to your audience/topic/niche Make sure you link to quality content Add a little something of your own - tell people why they should read it, add a thought or two etc. This makes it unique and shows you’ve actually read what you’re linking to and have your own thoughts on the matter. The challenge: Challenge - create a link post. It could be a blog post, video or social media post Share it in our FB Group Check out some of the other link posts that others have created - encourage, support etc. Lastly - thanks SOOO much for this last week. I hope you’ve got back into the groove. I’m going to keep the FB group open for at least a few weeks and I’m thinking about doing some more of these in the future so may keep the group open. We won’t do them daily but maybe once or twice a month. I’ll run a poll in the group in the coming week or so to get you...

Challenge: Create a Discussion Starter This is 6th challenge in ProBlogger’s 7 Days to Getting Your Blogging Groove Back Challenge that we kicked off back in episode 138. You can listen to it in the player above or here on iTunes. If you’re new to the challenge - this week I’m nominating a different style of content for you to create each day over the week and the challenge is to create a post within 24 hours of hearing about it and then sharing it with us in our ProBlogger Challenge Group on Facebook in this thread. It’s Sunday for most of us as this goes live and so I’ve decided to make it a challenge that is potentially a bit more bite sized for most of us! The virtual ticket will be available early next week at ProBlogger.com/virtualticket where you can now sign up to be alerted when they go on sale. My challenge for you today is to start a discussion and to create a piece of content that attempt to get your readers engaging in some way. Now this might be a bit daunting for some of you just starting out who might not have much of a readership yet - but it’s something that I used to do in the very early days of my blogs that I’m glad that I persisted with. You might only have 2 readers - but when you show them that you’re interested in engaging it can have a big impact. And remember - this challenge isn’t just about writing blog posts. You might choose today to create content in another format. Live stream Instagram Facebook Twitter 5 Quick reasons why asking your readers questions and starting discussions can be good: It gives readers a sense of Community and Participation - if you follow up when you do get an interaction it could be the beginning of a long term reader! It increases Blog Stickiness - people are more likely to come back once they’ve interacted These posts don’t take a whole lot of effort to write (although can take some moderation) They are great for helping you to gauge where your readers are at on certain topics and can even give you ideas for future posts. Challenge: Create a 'How to' Post This is 5th challenge in ProBlogger’s 7 Days to Getting Your Blogging Groove Back Challenge that we kicked off back in episode 138. If you’re new to the challenge - this week I’m nominating a different style of content for you to create each day over the week and the challenge is to create a post within 24 hours of hearing about it and then sharing it with us in our ProBlogger Challenge Group on Facebook. Listen to this episode in the player above or here on iTunes. This week has been amazing so far. In the first few days we’ve done ‘list posts’ (there were something like 300 posts written), FAQ posts, Review posts and Story posts. I’m LOVING reading as many of them as I can and encourage you to keep going. The weekend is upon us now so for some of us its about to get tough - but I encourage you to keep at it! Good things are happening - keep it up! The virtual ticket will be available early next week at problogger.com/virtualticket where you can now sign up to be alerted when they go on sale. Today your challenge is to publish a ‘How to’ post. How to posts work well because: It’s one of the main reasons people go online - to learn, seek help As a result they tend to rank well in Search and can be really shareable They also tend to be evergreen in nature When you teach someone how to do something they tend to remember who taught them and have gratitude towards them. They also become evangelists They build credibility How to content can come in any form you like: Written - blog posts, articles, list posts, essays Video - can be great for walking people and showing them how to do something rather than just telling Screen capture video - for something you do online Images - a series of good images Gifs - putting a series of images into a gif Slideshow Podcast - most of my podcasts are how to Infographics A few approaches you might like to take: How you do something How to Build an Efficient Social Media Workflow to Increase your Traffic How you did something $72,000 in E-Books in a Week – 8 Lessons I Learned Share it in a story Analysis of someone else’s technique Content on the result of your research How to Cut Out the Subject From the Background in Photoshop Write about a very simple concept How to Hold a Camera Write about a very advanced topic 6 Advanced Composition Techniques to Improve Your Photos It could be a very practical tangible thing How to Clean Your Camera Sensor and Lenses It could also be something less tangible How to Overcome Fear of Speaking, Podcasting, Live Streaming, Webinars and More A post on straight theory, without inserting yourself How to Start a Blog in 5 Steps A few quick tips: Base it on a real world need Base it on an FAQ Break it down into steps Show as much as possible A Powerful Exercise inside Google Analytics to Set You Up for a Successful Year of Blogging Anticipate questions Add a call to action Add depth The Challenge: Create your ‘how to’ post - publish it Head to the ProBlogger Challenge Group on Facebook and share the link with us on this thread Check out some of the other ’how to content people have written. I know that’s a big statement but I say it because where I am today as a full time blogger is because I once almost accidentally wrote a review post on one of my early blogs. I had no idea at the time that what I was doing was literally changing my life but it did. It was 2004, I’ve been blogging for a couple of years on my first personal blog. But on this day, I impulsively decided to start a second blog. It was a photo blog in which I wanted to share photos from a trip...
