Children are a gift from God. Children have integrity and rights. With these key principles in mind, Fr. Mike reviews the Catechism's teachings about marriage, family, child bearing, sterility, and adoption. Because “a child is not something owed to one but is a gift”, we must protect the dignity of the child at the forefront of all decisions. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2373-2379. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/ciy Please note: The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.

Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:4-6, 1 John 3:1, & Ephesians 1:4-5 In today's episode of Kids Bible Stories, we continue our “Names of God” series and learn a name that shows how close and loving God is toward us — Abba, which means Father. We'll travel through 4 places in the Bible to discover that God didn't just make us; He chose us and adopted us into His family through Jesus! Children will hear how Paul and John describe God as a caring Father who listens, comforts, and provides for His children. They'll be reminded that, no matter what their family looks like here on earth, God's family always has room for them — because through Jesus, we all belong. -------------
Babies exposed to dog allergens early in life have about a 48% lower risk of developing asthma by age 5, and show stronger lung function compared to children raised in pet-free homes Exposure to dogs helps 'train' your child's immune system, teaching it to tolerate harmless allergens instead of overreacting to them — a key factor in preventing asthma and allergies later in life The protective effects are even greater in children genetically predisposed to poor lung health, showing that environmental exposure to dogs can offset inherited asthma risks Children who grow up with female dogs or with multiple dogs in the home have a lower risk of asthma, likely due to reduced exposure to certain allergens and a richer variety of beneficial microbes Beyond pets, improving indoor air quality, supporting gut and nasal microbiome health, and reducing toxins like seed oils and EMF exposure help strengthen your child's immune system and respiratory resilience

A 13-year Australian study has just dropped — and its findings are shaking the medical world. Children on ADHD medication reported lower quality of life than those who weren’t medicated. In this eye-opening episode, Justin unpacks why the “gold standard” research behind ADHD treatment might have been flawed all along — and what this means for families trying to do what’s best for their kids. This one might make you rethink everything you’ve been told. KEY POINTS The shocking new Deakin University study on ADHD medication and child wellbeing. Why “the gold standard” MTA study may have misled the world for decades. How peer review can fail — and how Big Pharma shapes the story. What long-term follow-ups reveal about medication outcomes. Why your child isn’t the problem — and what really needs to change instead. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE “Your child doesn’t have a problem. Thinking your child is the problem is often the bigger problem.” RESOURCES MENTIONED MTA Study (Multimodal Treatment of ADHD) and 3-year follow-up research. Deakin University longitudinal study on ADHD medication and quality of life. The Parenting Revolution by Dr Justin Coulson. Parenting ADHD [The Course] + Course FAQs [Article] Help for the Parent with ADHD ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS Don’t make changes overnight — start by reading the linked studies. Talk to your child’s GP, psychologist, or psychiatrist about alternative supports. Focus on your child’s environment, not just their behaviour. Trust your gut — if something doesn’t feel right, it’s worth exploring. Remember: grace for your child, yourself, and your professionals. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Apostle Paul, in Philippians 1:3–5, thanks God for the believers and prays for them, giving us a model that prioritizes spiritual needs over material ones. The episode explores how joy, fellowship, and partnership in the gospel sustain Children of God, even amid trials. Using the example of the Philippian Church and Epaphroditus, the lesson encourages believers to grow in intercessory prayer, mutual support, and the joy of the Spirit.

From playground falls to sports injuries, oral trauma is part of growing up. But when a tooth gets chipped, knocked out or a lip is cut, it can be stressful for families and challenging for providers. In this episode, we take a closer look at pediatric dental and oral trauma from the primary care perspective. We are focusing on what to look for, when to act and how to guide families through those anxious first moments after an injury. Donna Barlow is a midwife and a mother of 5, and she helps bring clarity to the topic of fertility and children by answering the following questions: Should a single woman go to an OBGYN and have her fertility checked? Or should she wait until she is engaged to look into that area of her health? What are common myths about fertility? If someone has a condition that may impact fertility, how early should they disclose that in a dating relationship? What practical steps can a single woman do to help her fertility and hormones? What would you tell a woman who doesn't have a strong desire to have children? Should couples seek to have children right away after marriage? For a woman who is thinking about freezing her eggs, what should she consider before a decision like that? And what comfort can you offer to women who are beyond child-bearing years? What are the odds that you have a half sibling somewhere out there that you don't know about? How do you even find out if you have a half-sibling? Nowadays, lots of people will meet them on accident after taking a DNA test, but typically it's a very tricky game. You can't just look on your birth certificate and sometimes your own parents have no idea or withhold the truth. Aziza Kibibi doesn't have to look very far. She already knows where and who all of her half siblings are because she's given birth to four of them. Aziza's father has been SA'ing her since she was eight years old. By fifteen, she would give birth to her first child bore out of incest at the hands of her father. He'd go on to impregnate her four more times, forcing her to give birth without medical assistance every single time. She would be forced to bear life in a tent on a beach while hiding from the police. Another, alone squatting over a Home Depot bucket. And every single time, Aziza's dad would force her to raise her kids - his kids - their kids - in the same house with Aziza's ten other siblings he was also assaulting. The same house where Aziza's mother lived, growing jealous of her own daughters each year they got older. Her father forced them to live together, prohibited them from public school, locked away from the public eye, forced to fight for his attention until they could finally escape. My guest is Dr. David Fajgenbaum, MD, professor of translational medicine and human genetics at the University of Pennsylvania. He explains how, unbeknownst to most doctors, many approved medications can successfully treat or even cure diseases other than the ones they are typically used to treat. He shares his story of escaping death from Castleman's disease by discovering a life-saving treatment using repurposed drugs that were approved for other purposes. Our conversation explores how researchers, physicians, and you—the general public—can explore novel treatments and cures to conditions the medical profession has deemed untreatable, including cancers. We also discuss the crucial role of mindset in battling diseases and the lesser-known use of compounds to promote health and longevity. Read the episode show notes at hubermanlab.com.
