The crew weighed in on reports that Will Smith wants the Academy to reconsider the 10-year ban he received following the infamous 2022 Oscars incident involving Chris Rock. While Smith remains eligible for future Oscar nominations, the discussion centered on whether enough time has passed and if the public is ready to move on. The show also unpacked the emotional breakup between actress and singer Serayah and rapper Joey Bada$, with Serayah claiming repeated infidelity led to the end of their engagement and relationship. According to the transcript, she made it clear that her focus remains on co-parenting their young son while moving forward. The conversation also turned to Peacock’s newly announced Wendy Williams docuseries, a project reportedly being developed by former staff members from The Wendy Williams Show. The forthcoming series is expected to explore Wendy’s massive impact on radio and daytime television, though questions remain about her level of involvement. Adding to the cultural conversation, the crew discussed Target’s decision to remove a children’s Halloween clown costume after customers criticized it as offensive to the Black community, sparking a broader discussion about diversity, representation, and corporate accountability. The show also tackled a spirited What’s Trending debate on whether race matters in relationships after a viral photo of several NBA legends and their interracial marriages ignited strong reactions online, with listeners sharing personal perspectives on love, identity, and dating across racial lines. September is just around the corner and with the start of the new month comes the fall film festival circuit. Taylor Antrim served as a guest host on today's episode and was joined by fellow Vogue editors and cinephiles Liam Hess and Lisa Wong Macabasco. They discussed the slate of fall film festivals ahead. Liam will be attending Venice—the first and most glamorous of the bunch—and then Taylor and Lisa will both be headed to Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as well as New York Film Festival (NYFF). “We do get the opportunity sometimes to see some of these festival films before they come out in the festivals because they're trying to drum up support from Vogue and other, other outlets,” Taylor explained. As such, they began their conversation by shouting out some of the films they've already had the chance to see. First on that list was the New York centric film Paper Tiger, by James Gray starring Adam Driver, Miles Teller, and Scarlett Johansson. “There's a lot of wigs and suits and accents that are a little over the top,” Lisa noted of the thriller that takes places in Queens, New York in the eighties. After watching the film, Taylor found himself asking his group chats “Is Adam Driver a great actor or not?” The cohort weighed in on this quandary. They weighed in on All of A Sudden, Ryusuke Hamaguchi's French language debut, Fjord, Cristian Mungiu's legal thriller starring podcast favorite Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan, Hope, an action film starring two-time Vogue cover star Ho-yeon, and Gentle Monster, a vehicle for an incredible performance from Léa Seydoux. In a final lightning round, they each shared the two films they are most excited to see at the festivals. For Liam, he is looking forward to catching Possible Love by Lee Chang-dong and Primetime, a striking portrayal of television host Chris Hansen. Lisa is excited for Bucking Fastard, starring the Mara sisters as twins, and Misty Green, Chris Rock's directorial return promising a commentary about race in Hollywood. Taylor rounded it out with Ink from Danny Boyle, a biographical film about Rupert Murdoch's acquisition of The Sun, and Magazine, an indie pick from Vogue contributor Alexandra Pechman. Also on today's episode, Chloe is joined by Marley Marius to talk about the big news of the week: the reported return of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the UK. They also discuss the latest movies they've seen (Paw Patrol for Chloe and Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter for Marley) and which stars they are most excited to see on the Venice red carpet (hint: it starts with Parker and ends with Posey). And they gushed over Margaret Qualley's Chanel barefoot sandals which she rocked at a recent red carpet appearance for The Dog Stars in London. The Run-Through with Vogue is your go-to podcast where fashion meets culture. Hosted by Chloe Malle, Head of Editorial Content, Vogue U.S.; Chioma Nnadi, Head of British Vogue; and Nicole Phelps, Director of Vogue Runway, each episode features the latest fashion news and exclusive designer and celebrity interviews. Packed with memorable performances, hilarious satire, and appearances from real rap legends, the film remains a cult favorite more than 30 years later. We discuss how CB4 balances outrageous comedy with sharp social commentary, why Chris Rock shines in one of his earliest starring roles, and whether the film was ahead of its time. We also revisit our favorite scenes, quotable moments, and why this mockumentary-style comedy still feels fresh today. It's loud, hilarious, and "keeps it real" in all the wrong ways—exactly the kind of comedy that made CB4 a cult classic.#WatchTowerFilmPodcast #ClassicHoodComedies #CB4 #ChrisRock #ComedyMovies #CultClassic #HipHopMovies #FilmPodcast #MovieDiscussion #90sComedy

“No sink or nothing, right? You're just gonna go free ball it…” 1989 was the very first year EVER that The Recording Academy recognized hard rock and metal music with the “Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental”. And other than the completely insulting “slap in the face” by The Recording Academy to Metallica (think Will Smith & Chris Rock, but even more childish, petty, and completely unnecessary), there were no other Big Four albums or happenings in 1989. (SIDEBAR: Y'know, maybe it's just speculation, conspiracy theory, or just good old-fashioned karma in action, but the way Metallica “lost” that Grammy, it's like they were literally “deleted from the mix” of nominees, so to speak. Not unlike a certain bass player from a certain mix on a certain album. Moving on…) “Just gonna raw dog it…” As we are all aware, metal (especially thrash) is far more than just The Big Four, and 1989 was actually quite an excellent year for metal. As thrash was nearing the zenith of its popularity, Wrathchild America's debut album, Climbin' The Walls, hit the record store shelves, Exodus, Testament, and Sepultura each released legendary 3rd albums, and Nuclear Assault released the first, the best, and arguably one of the most revolutionary lyric videos in the history of music for Critical Mass, featuring a one-eyed smiley face saying, “Follow me!” and a “Required Nasty Bit”, courtesy of Jessica Hahn. “What is YOUR favorite album of 1989?” Prepare yourself for a bit of obscure Metal Nerdery 1989-centric trivia, embrace what it means to receive your “first JOB”, and find out what you should definitely NOT do in your landlord's pool when you JOIN US as we fire up the time machine and go check out THE CLASS OF 1989. Johnny Mac delivers a bonus rant about reports that Taylor Swift married Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden with Adam Sandler officiating, citing coverage from The New York Times and other outlets. He mocks the celebrity spectacle, noting details like Austin Swift as man of honor, Jason Kelce as best man, and Sandler's purported marriage advice via Andy Reid to “keep kissing,” plus comments attributed to the AMC Theatres CEO, Joseph Kahn, and a critical Slate piece questioning Sandler as the choice. Mac speculates about how guest lists are shaped by Hollywood networking rather than real friendships, naming attendees such as Paul McCartney, Charlie Day, Conan O'Brien, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Donald Glover, Chris Rock, and Nikki Glaser. He also recounts Dave Chappelle joking on CNN that he wasn't invited, then closes with brief personal updates about losing internet and upcoming episodes. 00:39 Sandler Officiates Shock01:31 Marriage Advice Buzz02:05 Media Reactions Roast03:25 Guest List Confusion04:05 How Celeb Invites Work04:59 Comedians at the Wedding05:51 Chappelle Bachelor Party Bit06:28 Quick Wrap and CongratsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/daily-comedy-news-with-johnny-mac-a-daily-briefing-on-comedians-and-the-comedy-industry--4522158/support.Daily Comedy News with Johnny Mac is a daily podcast covering comedians, stand-up comedy, late night television, and the comedy industry. Eric Andre makes the best kind of crazy... the kind that makes fans out of Chris Rock and President Barack Obama. In a conversation as wild as his comedy, Eric tells Dan how his immigrant father wanted him to become a lawyer, the moment he walked out of the LSAT to pursue his own life, and how anxiety fuels his public mayhem to the point of nearly getting himself killed filming a prank involving a Chinese finger trap (spoiler: it wasn't on his finger). Who hasn't put their head through a glass case doing a Chris Farley impression, right? “Little Brother” starring Eric Andre & John Cena premieres only on Netflix June 26th. Join us for a conversation with Michelle Danner, the legendary acting coach and director, as she shares her journey from a French castle to the heights of Hollywood. The boys have one of the boys and Nashville comedian, Nate Bargatze. The boys get right into some of Nate’s old jobs that he had when he was a kid. One of the jobs that he hated actually made it onto an episode of Dirty Jobs. Then the boys get into how Nate started his comedy career. Instead of moving straight to New York from Nashville, he did a little time in Chicago before he finally decided to make the move to New York. Nate talks about the New York comedy scene and how crazy/overwhelming it can be as there are thousands of comedians trying to make it. He says fighting your way through the different types of comedy is how you really become good and is how you find your style/voice. Nate gets into some comedians he had a little bit of a run in with but has since ironed things out with. He tells the story of Louis CK publicly embarrassing him at a show and making fun of one of the jokes Nate told during his set. However, Nate says he was able to make sense of it all because at the time he had only been in comedy for 5 years. Nate talks about the different advice he gives to younger comedians which is interesting to hear. The boys end the pod talking about why Nate decided to be a clean comedian, why he decided to stop drinking and how good Scientology is at recruiting people. Nate is really just one of the guys and tells some really good stories throughout the episode that you won’t want to miss. Enjoy fellas.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
